Help - Display Item on the Grid ...

There is an Item in the Data Block with numeric values like 1, 2, 3, etc. How can I display that item on the grid with a meaningful value such as Teenager, Adult, Senior, etc...?

Need help displaying item based on pl/sql anonymous block

This is probably something really simple but I'm stuck.....
On purchase order, I want to show related parent project name and ID. What is the best way to do it? I have created a region based on pl/sql anonymous block, and that works, but the data is above where I want it. I want the project name and ID to show up in the region w/ all the other fields.
I have created an item in the region that has other form fields, item is based on pl/sql anonymous block, w/ same code as above region, and the item doesn't find the data. What's the difference? Is it because the item doesn't save state? In order to choose for the item to be based on pl/sql anon block, APEX made me choose Display as Text (based on PLSQL, does not save state).

I seem to be missing only the "Tools" and "Help" menu items from the top toolbar - is there a way to get them to appear?

I tried reinstalling Firefox, but that didn't help, nor did resetting the toolbar settings is Safe Mode.

In version 3.6, the user can hide the Menu Bar; see below

Multi-Line Display Item

I need to populate a multi-line display item in Forms 6i.
The problem that I am having is the actual assignment to the display item.
For example:
:DISPLAY_ITEM := '10';
:DISPLAY_ITEM := '11';
This makes the display item show the value '11' only.
I need '10' on the first line and '11' on the second line, etc.

well, you can write:
go_block('BL_BLK');
first_record;
:display_item:=10;
next_record;
:display_item:=11;
but for this- 1. block should have one navigable item. 2. display_item should not be the first item of the block.
Otherwise you will need to create a non-databse text_item with width 0 on the canvas for that block.

Sorting on non-displayed items - can it be done ?

Hi,
I'm very new to Discoverer (and this forum), so apologies if I'm covering old ground.
I've created a simple discoverer table report and the folder I've based the data on has a number of columns that determine the sort order i.e. called 'activity_type_sort_order', 'activity_sort_order', 'enclosure_order_order' - this is because the related columns activity_type, activity and enclosure are VARCHAR but contain numeric values.
Hence, the existing application displays the data in the correct order in the Forms and Reports without showing the user the underlying columns that are determining the order.
I want to do something similar in Discover i.e. produce a report that displays the columns activity_type, activity, enclosure but sorts the data based on 'hidden' columns activity_type_sort_order, activity_sort_order and enclosure_sort_order.
I tried creating my first Discoverer report and it seems to need the activity_type_sort_order, activity_sort_order and enclosure_sort_order as displayed items in the workbook in order to all the rest of the data to be sorted.
Is there any way I can sort using these fields but not actually display them ?
I've read that I can create an alternate sort in the EUL but I've got 1000's of values.
Can anybody help ?

Hi,
You should be able to use the hidden sort option. In the sort tab add the sort columns and then change the sort type to be hidden.

Webforms - display items appearing as black

Hi,
I need somebody's help. When I navigate from a custom built form to a third party application form all display items in the third party appl. form are blackened out.
This state persists throughout the session for all third party appl. forms.
I initially thought that it was a global value which
I had not set when navigating from custom form to other form.
I've spoken to the company that built these forms and they
state that they do not set any visual attributes etc. programmatically.
Their visual attributes on the form is default, foreground/background colour= <unspecified>
Have I missed something in my formsweb.cfg?
I have already set:
lookandfeel=generic
readOnlyBackground=automatic
darkLook=false
in the config file.

Display item with HTML affected by dynamic action

Hi,
I'm using APEX 4.1.1
I have a item P1_TEST set as "Display only", escaping special characters "no", and the source as pl/sql expression of
'hello world'I then create a dynamic action executing PL/SQL on click of a button.
P1_TEST is listed in both "page items to submit" and "page items to return", and it doesn't matter what happens in the pl/sql code - it could just be null;
When opening the page, I see
hello world
as desired.
After clicking the button, the field contents become escaped and I see hello <b&GT;worldwhich is not desired.
Is this expected behaviour / a bug? Is there a workaround?

Hi Scott,
This was indeed a change of behaviour from 4.1.1 to 4.2 and has to do with how APEX handles input escaping (or when saving values into session state). I should say, we plan to revisit the current behaviour to make this more transparent and obvious, but that won't be for 4.2, for your information.
As you identified, the escaping is happening as part of the 'Page Items to Submit' functionality, so in other words when the item value is saved in session state. APEX has some predefined rules about when and when not to do input escaping based on the item type, and this is what has changed slightly from 4.1.1 to 4.2.
In 4.1.1, regardless of whether item values are set via the URL or via an Ajax call, the same rules applied for when APEX does input escaping. We always input escape the 'safe' item types. These types used to be documented in the 3.2 documentation, here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/sec.htm#CDDBBECI
(Obviously the item types have changed slightly with the consolidation of some of those into single items, with different settings. But hopefully that is still of use, and we no longer cite them in the same way in recent documentation so I couldn't link to something more recent.)
In 4.2, this behaviour was 'relaxed' slightly, such that this logic only kicks in when setting values over the URL, not for Ajax calls. This is why this is no longer an issue with your DA, because we no longer obey the same item type escaping in the context of an Ajax call.
As a workaround for 4.1.1, I would suggest to use a non-safe item type to set your value into (eg a 'Hidden' type), then use JavaScript just to copy that over to your displayed item. The 'unescape' function didn't work, because that does URL unescaping, not HTML unescaping.

I am using AutoCompleteBox in my WPF and ObservableCollection as Itemsource.
I'm having performance issues when displaying large numbers of items (1000+).
is there any way to limit the number of displayed items in the dropdown?
For example , display only 10 items .

The only way to limit the number of items is reduce the number of items in the ItemsSource or implementing a custom filer. The following code works just fine, i.e. only the first 10 items of a total of 100 is displayed when you type "aaa"

Sapscript help -displaying line items in the table

Hi folks,
Can anyone please help me in a way of displaying the line items at the right place in the table fields?I have been playing with the tabs to space it for quite sometime. I tried everypossible combination, but does not work. Tring to figure out have not succeeded yet.
the line items in some lines displaying right, but if the first name or the last name is long, either pushes forward the subsequesnt data or if the length is small, it pulls the data inside.
I do not know how to fix this.
Here are the 4 elements I tried to display as line items

If it is a form to be newly developed, it is better to go in for Smartform development since smartforms will automatically handle this problem.
If you still want to continue using Scripts try to use
/: YORGIN
or
/: XORIGIN to adjust the height of the Box, if needed.

For the problem regarding length of the names, try to split the name and show it on two lines
eg., wrk_name+0(20) on the first line
and wrk_name+20(20) on the second line

Displaying items in a single line in ALV grid using ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE.

Hello Guys,
I am having a problem in displaying items in a single line in the ALV Grid using event ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE.
My requirement is to group items on a single line i.e. in the example below, Vendor code and posting date are on the same line. The next line the prints Vendor Name and Document no.
Vendor Code: 123123                               Posting Date : 01.01.2011
Vendor Name: ABCD                                 Document No: 152246598.
Here is my code in subroutine 'ALV_TOP_OF_PAGE',
wa_list_comments-typ = 'S'.
wa_list_comments-key = ''.
wa_list_comments-info = 'Vendor Code'.
APPEND wa_list_comments TO it_list_comments.
wa_list_comments-typ = 'S'.
wa_list_comments-key = ''.
wa_list_comments-info = 'Posting Date'.
APPEND wa_list_comments TO it_list_comments.
The above code prints in the following format i.e one below the other,
Vendor Code: 123123
Posting Date : 01.01.2011.
I also tried using HTML_TOP_OF_PAGE, but it didn't work.
Can anybody please help me out with this.

Your problem is with the alignment and you need some fix positions .
The solution i feel is u can use as below :

Generally we wll display totals at the end..
bu the requirement is to display it in the first line of the column.

How to hide the grid lines between two rows in a ALv? Please help!

         I have a ABAP ALV(reuse alv grid FM) report.
The last field in the ALV is "Description" which can contain data of size more than 130 chars.
Since the max field length in ALV grid is 130 chars hence I am splitting this field value whenever the field length is more than 130 chars.
After splitting I am generating duplicate rows but with different "Description" field values ( each contains the splitted values".
For example:
Name| City | Description                             |
Hari|HK    |Employee responsible for time management |
Hari|HK    |and issue resolution                     |
Now I want to hide the grid line between these two rows
and just for Description field.
In other words I want ALV to display like this:

How can I acheive this?
Please provide some sample code.

Line items for the PO are not automatically displayed

Hi all,
When attempting to post an invoice against PO, the line items for the PO are not automatically displayed. When we went to the Listing of PO's and brought this up, we noticed under the "invoice"tab that the: Invoice Receipt & GR-BsdIV is checked.

Can you check delivery complete indicator in PO. It is in PO item details delivery tab.
In MIRO transaction, select the tab Purchase order/scheduling agreement, enter PO number and press enter.
Right hand side select the layout all information .
