Help! Download Snow Leopard

I have the old Macbook Pro 10.5.8. Recently my iTunes has not been able to read my iphone when I sync it. When I plug it in, an error comes up on itunes saying my iphone cannot be picked up because my computer needs 10.6.3 or later update.
When I try to download this update my computer does not allow me to install it because it "requires Mac OS x version 10.6". I guess I am asking how to install this update so I can ultimately sync my phone to itunes???
Thank you for any help you can provide.

alicialauree: You can't.

What do you mean by "download"? Only updates are available as downloads, the System software has to be installed from a DVD.

  • My iPad is stuck in recovery mode.  I already downloaded Snow Leopard and am making no progress.  Help!

My iPad is stuck in recovery mode.  It was suggested before that I upgrade my computer, so I downloaded Snow Leopard and have tried resetting it, but it still isn't working.  What can I try next?

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Hold Sleep/Wake button down and slide to turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug.
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.

  • I want to use iMovie 6 on my new MacBook Pro running Lion 10.7.5. It won't download. Can I download Snow Leopard instead and use iMovie 6 with that older OS?

I have a MacBook Pro I recently purchased 'cause my old G4 just couldn't output my video films properly. My new MacBook Pro is running 10.7.5 OS Lion. Don't like iMovie 11 and want to use iMovie 6. It won't download on Lion. Could I download Snow Leopard (deleting OS 10.7.5) and use iMovie 6 then? I saw a previous thread that said that could be done.

AppleMan...I have the same iMac you have...i-7 16GB with a SSD....just bought it second hand and it is about 1.5 years old....it was maxed out with upgrades when the original owner bought it.  It was also restored back to factory settings prior to me taking possession.
I am making home movies in iMovie 11....max length 30 minutes or less.  I am totally new to this editing.  I am using HD footgage filmed from my Hero GoPro 3.  I am finding that the movies that I am creating are skipping, staggering, hanging up etc...usually where I had transitions.  I am certain I have enough power and memory in my iMac, so what's the issue?  I read one of your other posts about optimizing each event or clip to 1080p?  Is this what I need to do for every clip I import?  Can I do this for all the clips at once on import?  I also read that I may need to export the movie to quick time for smooth playback??
Any help you can provide would be appreciated!
    Sincerely,
    Matt
PS=How do I e mail you directly here in the posts?  I went to your profile but didn't see any "e mail" or "contact" member button to click on.

  • HT3258 where can I buy/ download Snow Leopard OS for my Macbook Pro so I can run PowerPC?

    I need help.
where can I get/ buy/ download snow leopard os so I can run PowerPC..

If you are outside of the USA & Canada, the Apple Store will not ship you Snow Leopard Server.  You must have someone in the USA or Canada purchase it for you and then trans-ship it to you, which, of course, will increase the shipping costs.
Snow Leopard Server for $19.99 + sales tax & shipping costs at 1.800.MYAPPLE (1.800.692.7753) - Apple Part Number: MC588Z/A (telephone orders only).
Another alternative is to purchase Snow Leopard client and install that into Parallels 8:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
This will give you an environment where you can run your PowerPC CDs.

  • How do I download snow leopard?

I've just learned that I need to download Snow Leopard in order to then download Mountain Lion. Only problem is, I can't find anywhere to download snow leopard. I currently have Mac OS X 10.5.8, any help is appreciated.

Although Snow Leopard is no longer listed in the Apple Store, you can still buy it by calling them at 1-800-MY-APPLE and asking for it.  The price should be about $30 (plus tax).

  • About to download Snow Leopard - Do I have to re-load Word?

I have Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac, and I think it's a one time use only package (with the key). Will downloading Snow Leopard affect my Word in any way? Will I have to re-load Word on to my computer?
I've never done this before and I need some help. Thank you!

Before you go any further there are NO LEGAL downloads of Osx 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
You must purchase the installation disc from Apple Retail, Approved Apple Reseller or a PC Warehouse that sells Apple software.
You should always be suspicious of Torented Software and most particularly Operating Systems as they may have been loaded with malicious and damaging code.
Now when you get a legal copy of Snow Leopard you can either just do an upgrade in which case the MS Word should survive or do a erase and install.
This is a fresh OS install and you WILL need to reinstall MS Word and yes again if legal you will have to enter the gazillion alpha numeric code again (Its not once only then expire. The number just ties the disc to the licence on the box).
If you do an erase and install you will also have to reinstall all your other software , and that INCLUDES the Ilife suite iDVD, iPhoto, iMovie,iWeb, Garageband and iTunes (contrary to popular belief these are not part of the OS package!)
For these you will need to load your restore disc supplied with the MAC or have purchased a separate copy of the iLife suite software discs.
You can now also buy a Box set which includes OSx10.6 and iLife2009 if you prefer.(Actually if you are running OS10.4 Tiger on an early intel Mac -Legally you are required to buy this box set!)

    Hi,
I suggest uninstalling the printer drivers from your HP printer. The go to System Preferences> Printer & Fax and in the printer list box go ahead and reset the printing system. Do that by right clicking over the printer list box ad the option should appear. After that close system preferences and reinstall your printer drivers from the HP CD. After installation check if your printer works as expected, if it does, stop here and ignore the rest of the message.
If you don't have the install CDs for the printer or the previous step does not work; connect your printer to your Mac via USB and then again go to system preferences. Open the Print & Fax menu and in the printer list box you should see a "+" sign. Click on it, and a new window should appear with a list of printers that are available to you. If that's the case, go ahead click your printer name and wait for the computer to look in the Apple servers for the drivers. When searching is finished click the "install" button. This process will open software update and install the neccesary drivers.
After that, you should be able to scan documents with the Preview App.
For more information on the printing system in OS X Snow Leopard visit:

    Hope this helps!

Snow Leopard (10.6) isn't available as a download.
You buy it at the Apple Store and it ships on a DVD. Software update brings it to 10.6.8 which includes the App Store where you can download Mavericks for free.

  • Can I download Snow leopard/Lion rather than order hard copy delivery?  Not finding in iTunes nor on apple website..

I currently have Mac OSx and looking to upgrade to Lion (sounds like I need to go through Snow Leopard upgrade first).  Is there an easy way to simply download these upgrades rather than order via the mail?  Any way to avoid updgrading two separate times and have the ability to go direct to the Lion upgrade?
    Thanks!

You cannot download Snow Leopard. You have to buy it on disk.
Once you've installed that, and updated it to 10.6.8, you can download Lion from the App Store.
Apple also sells Lion on a USB stick, but I don't know if it is possible to install that on a disk with just Leopard.
Also, make sure your MacBook can run Lion: http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html

Since I downloaded snow leopard, I cant view my movies in Iphoto. There is absolutely no response. (it does not default to anything else). Is anyone else having this problem? Suggestions please. My Iphoto says 7.1.5

i am sorry - i did do  all of that. But I am hitting a brick wall. The closing comment after I did so said install complete and followed up by saying :
You may have installed Mac OS X software that is older than your current version of Mac OS X, and may not work properly. To ensure the best experience please download and install the latest version of the Mac OS X Combo update from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/ . You should do this even if you currently have the latest Mac OS X update installed.
BUT when I check to see what version of QT I have it says 10 (not 7) even though I clicked on 7. I think I need to uninstall everything and start again. Sadly, i dont even know how to do that!

You cannot download the upgrade to Snow Leopard.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation

               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor

  • Why can a person buy and/or download Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion but not Mavericks???

I am running OS X Lion on a mid 2009 MacBook Pro with 4GB of ram and a 160GB HDD. I was going to download Mavericks from the app store but waited to long. Now that Yosemite is out Mavericks has disappeared from the app store. WHY? A person can buy and/or download Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion but not Mavericks??? And the kicker is that it was FREE!!! I just wanted to load Mavericks on my MacBook Pro to see how it performs. If I could live with any slow downs or quirks, I'd leave it installed. If not, I'd roll my system back. Apple's policy of ramrodding unstable product down our throat is BS. I don't want to use Yosemite until it has become more stable!
