Help downloading flash and problems with Safari
Hi
I've got two questions. I'm aware that the main problem is my operating system is old (OS X 10.4.11, Safari 4.1.3) I'm saving up for a new computer, but meanwhile....
1) Sometimes when I go to open an address this comes up:
"Safari can’t open “http://www.thegreenparent.co.uk/downloads/Writers_Guidelines_2010.pdf” because Mac OS X doesn’t recognize Internet addresses starting with “http:”."
2) I'm desperately trying to download Adobe Flash as I can't listen to radio/watch films etc without it. It's a real pain. I don't know how it happened, until a couple of weeks ago I could listen to BBCiPlayer etc no probs, but now when I try it tells me to download flash - I go to the Adobe flash site, download the programme, restart and still BBCiPlayer asks for flash. I've had a look through the forums here and allowed permissions, plus I downloaded 'wimpy' nothing has worked... help!

The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:

You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version, 10.2.152.25 or later, is for Intel Macs only, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Note that the latest Flash Player update only works on YouTube with Safari in 32 bit mode - until YouTube correct this.

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.

Adobe Flash Player Problem with Safari
Hello,
I've just installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player on Safari. I can watch videos on all websites except for one, namely NovaTv Play. Whatever I do, I cannot open any of the videos. Therefore, I have to use a different browser like Google Chrome. I'd like to continue using one web browser but cannot resolve this problem myself. I've checked the FAQ of the aforementioned website and it is stated that if the videos cannot be loaded, the proper installation of Adobe Flash Player should be checked. This is something I did, and as stated, there are no problems with other websites. Can somebody help me with this issue?
I am using OS X 10.9.5 (13F34) and the latest version of Safari.

Mariyanso, if anyone else is having the same problem....My flash is working properly now. You have to delete every trace of the old adobe flash player and then reinstall the latest version!

Downloading mp3s and videos with Safari?
I tried searching through the topics and what-not and came up with nothing...
I buy a lot of fitness products online and a lot of them include videos, mp3 interviews, etc.
When I click the links for the mp3s it just opens the page to play it but I cannot download it. Same thing with videos. Just opens a new frame and plays it there. No way to download.
Is there a way to get Safari to download these files? Or do I need to just download firefox again and do it that way?

It means that those fraud website urls are updated so that it can warn you if you try to visit those website.
Try restore from backup using iTunes.
If no joy, restore as new without the backup. -
Problem with safari on new i phone
i am having a problem with safari on my new i phone the address bar is covering up some of the top of the web page and it will not let me scroll up any more has any els had this problem and can any on help
I too, am having problem with SAFARI.
I have been unable to log in my Flickr account. I did succeed the first day and then...it just idle and no connection with site.
The ZOOM problem has occurred to me in a couple occasions. I did close the browser and re-opening it did fix it. Miracle or need a fix?? -
Problems with Safari, Firefox and Flash player
Ever since I got my new iMac that has Snow Leopard I've had problems with Safari and Firefox freezing or crashing. It appears that part of the problem is the Flash plugin because sometimes a screen pops up and says something like: the flash script is having problems. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling Flash, Safari and Firefox but the problem is still there. My browser seems to hang up or freeze a lot no matter if I use Safari or Firefox.
Any ideas?
I just discovered the Chrome browser from Google this morning and so far its working very well. No freezes and it appears to handle Flash video without any problems.
How can that be?
ThanksAh! The proverbial missing information. Why the regrets? Most people are having no issues migrating from previous computers; it's the preferred method. See Best Practices and Setup new Mac. You're a long way from starting over.

i've a macbook pro 15' top-2010 with osx 10.7 Lion & Adobe Flash Player 11.0.1.98 (beta) and i've this problem (with safari, firefox and chrome):
- when i go in a facebook game (cityville, poker, or other flash games) my cpu go at over 100% (also 150%) usage, the temperature become very very high and the fans go to 4500rpm.
in the other sites (youtube, normal flash site,...) i haven't problem.
note that all the browser are update at the last stable version. i've also tried to install the last stable version of flash (10.3.183.5) but nothing.
in the console, when i'm in a facebook game, i see (repeated many times):
- kernel: IOSurface: buffer allocation size is zero
- kernel: nstat_lookup_entry failed: 2
what can I do?

My wife has been having problems with Safari, and many third party software and malware programs infecting her Mac Book Pro. I have tried to reset Safari but it keeps coming back, taking over Safari, changing defaults, start pages, and search engines, Etc.
Is it safe to use programs like MacKeeper, who keeps send my wife's computer message and alerts, or should I just wipe the drive and start over?

Problems with Safari and Firefox (HTTP?)
On a laptop G4, 10.5.8 and Safari 5.02 I experience the following:
On the account of my oldest daughter everything works fine, i.e. wireless internet works and no problems with mail or safari.
On the same laptop, on the account of my other daughter, the wireless is OK, she can mail etc. But safari nor firefox works. It says: can’t find server (whatever site) and in the activity window it looks if safari tries to open files (in the safari preferences-folder) in stead of http. Same applies to Firefox, so maybe it has more to do with HTTP in general?
What goes wrong? What to do? I tried the following on the host terminal (tips from Apple)
defaults write com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled -boolean false
and
defaults delete com.apple.safari WebKitDNSPrefetchingEnabled
but that did not help,

PC does seem to be a bit odd & inconsistent, the few times I've tested with it, at least so far as we content filtering goes; and if I remember rightly, you're not the first to report previously ok settings suddenly preventing some or all internet until pc is switched off altogether.
It may work when re-enabled -

i have a problem with safari . Whenever i am typing in the safari main bar , so in the halfway through the typing my sentence/words are shifting to another main google search and in the end i have to type again in google. I have attached a sample screenshot of the safari problem which i am facing. In this particular example i wanted to write Print Screen, however halfway,my typing automatically shifted to google bar?? can you guys help me.Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. -
Problems with Safari Loading Sites and Photos
For the past week (Feb. 2015) I've experience problems with Safari loading websites on my 2009 20" iMac desktop. Running version OSX Lion 10.7.3 4 GB. Intel Duo Core 2.66 GHz
Mac also will frequently not upload photos at websites like Yahoo News or Facebook. It does this throughout the day.
So, I downloaded Chrome, thinking it would be a better browser if Safari is not functioning. Chrome is just slightly better, and when it won't load a website I get the following error message from Chrome: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET.
I'm debating taking the Mac to the Apple store for diagnosis or repair today, but if anyone else is experiencing similar problems, could you please offer some solutions as to what is going on.

Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:

If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative. -
Problem with safari and wallpaper etc

Remove that particular desktop wallpaper. That's probably what's causing your to lose History and TopSites.
Open a Finder window. Now open the Library folder then the Safari folder. See if that wallpaper is hiding in the Safari folder. Mine does that also. If it's there, move it to the Trash but don't empty the Trash.
Quit Safari (Command + Q) Now relaunch Safari. If History and TopSites are ok, then empty the Trash. It's that image causing the problem.

I have a problem with Safari in IOS 8 on my iPad 3. The bookmarks take up a third of the screen and I can't seem to make the bookmarks disappear until I need them. The useful part of the screen is therefore very small. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.
OK, it now sort of works. A couple of problems here:
After updating IOS, Safari iCloud was "automatically" switched off
Switching it on had no effect
resetting my iPad automatically switched off safari iCloud again
after switching it back on, it said "turning off safari data"
switched it off and on again, now it said : "turning on safari data" and the sync worked
On IOS 7 no problems
The bookmarks not being displayed was because after pressing the book icon, it defaulted to showing the history and I had to press "Back" to get to the other options -
