Help Editting Contact Names

Just got the 6120 Classic - Asia Model.  I have import all contacts from SIM card, but it messed up all contacts first/last names (it shows first and last names bundle into a lastname).  It also show multiples entries for the same contact with more than one phone numbers.
Anyway, when I try to edit contact by going to Contact->Option->Edit, to update each contact's name, I use the Left arrow key to move the cursor to left, it does left shift a character BUT it doesn't delete that last character.  Same when I key in a wrong character and want to delete it, how to do so?  I'm able to left move back a character but not delete it.  So, I have been playing with deleting a character during text input, but not able to do so.  Can anyone here please help????
Thanks!

Solution - was because I was on an unofficial carrier.  Apple just released a carrier bundle update for Telecom NZ and now works perfect, I can only assume they have for the majority of unofficial carriers by now.  Just plug your iPhone into iTunes and it should offer an update.

Try to restore your iphone via iTunes or update to ios6.1.2.
If itunes gives an error with restoring (DFU/Recovery or just normal)
    try this:
open your computer and search on windows; C://windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
open up the hosts file in note pad you will see IP adresses and more add another line and put in this:
    #74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
this is a by-pass to the cydia/saurik restore server, it has nothing to do with jailbreaking over voiding apple's warranty
    let me know if succeeded!

  • Lost my Contact Names and Months of New Entries w/ iOS 4 Update--Any Help?

    Hi,
I updated to iOS4 yesterday and after it was done all my contact names were gone. The numbers were all in there, just no names. I don't use Mobile Me for my contacts.
Checking my iPhone sync settings on my Mac for some reason "sync contacts" with Address Book was no longer checked in iTunes. It looks like it was that way for some time, which is unusual as that's the method I use to backup my contacts. No idea how that got switched, as I wouldn't have changed that. Don't think MobileMe troubleshooting had me turn it off after a Calendar duplication issue. Wouldn't make sense.
Also, I don't know why the update to a new OS would make me LOSE ALL my contact names. Why would the update be designed that way and not retain everything?
Now my computer has an old contact list and I've lost months of new contacts, phone numbers, emails and contact organization. Pretty bummed. Not sure why that box wasn't checked and the phone backup system is absolutely no help at all as, by design, iTunes only saves ONE backup of your phone at a time, and after the operating system updates to iOS4, it immediately and automatically backs up the phone with the new settings, writing over the real backup with the data you might want to return to.
Restored it from backup today to see if it'd repopulate the names, but no, it went to the backup it took AFTER the iOS4 update. It even erased the new spelling of someone's name that I put into the phone last night!
Why is this upgrade process designed without more safeties in mind, Apple? Not sure how that happened but clearly grandmothers and others might have a snafu and need to go back to an earlier backup. Can't iTunes backup the last 3 or 5 versions, or just note the differences so getting back lost data is easier? Happened a few years back, an iPhone I was using that went bad, but iTunes backed up the corrupted information in its single backup so that the last few weeks of entries, etc., got lost. Any way to get wireless syncing of the phone in the future like with Time Capsule or something, indexing at least a few multiple backups by date or something?
Clearly all the names were on the phone in their entirety immediately before the update, but then poof! Anything I can do about it now? Any ideas, folks?
    Thanks.

Try a hard reset right now and see if they disappear.
Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for 10 seconds until you see white Apple logo on the screen. Wait for the phone to restart and see if the contacts are fixed.

  • HT1766 my iphone 5 has not shown contacts name when i make call or an incoming calls many of them shown in phone book, thy are saved.can somone help??

hi i was user of iphone4 since 3 years thats awsome experience but i bought iphone 5 <used> all well but for first time i have noticed that my fone didnt show contacts name even those are feed in my fone they perfectly show in phone book all of them are local numbers i tried many thing even i upgrade my iphone to ios7 but the problem is still there,i drop my fone in home and start to use my nolder iphone 4,could some one help that issue???

Did you get this fixed? I went from 4s to 5s and now iPhone 6. I kept my original Kia 30 pin connector cable and bought a 30 pin to lightning adaptor (the one-inch square thingie). Unfortunately it would not connect with my iphone 5s case getting in the way of the connector site, but I was able to shave off the extra plastic and make it work. Because the original Kia cable connects to both the audio and the USB, the adaptor works great. Don't use the non-Kia USB-lightning cable, it is missing the audio connector that the Kia original cable has; I'm wondering if that is the issue for you. I am able to get my phone calls as well as my music through the car. By the way, I never use the Kia dashboard controls; they're horrible.

  • Help. My daughter changed my iPhone 4 contact names!

As a joke, my daughter changed all my iPhone contact names to "horse".  Yea, funny!  How do I get them back? I'm worried if I sync with my contacts on my Mac that is will change them to "horse" as well.  Is there an easy way to correct this? It took her two hours to do this behind my back! lol.  Thanks!

Open iTunes and plug your iPhone into the computer but cancel the sync! very important.  Then click on your iPhone in the left box, then click the info tab, scroll to the bottom of the window to the advance section and select contacts in the check box.  Read the note under this section it will tell you that information on this iPhone will be replace with the information on this computer. Then put your daughter on time out!  LOL...

  • IPhone not showing contacts names in text messaging after sync AND reset

Three days ago, I bought the iPhone 4S as an updgrade from the 3GS. I also transferred my wireless service plan from AT&T to Verizon. Since doing that, very strange things are happening. For example, my contacts appeared to transfer without a problem, but whenever I attempt a call to a number that does not have a "1" stored in front of it, it tells me that I am attempting a long-distance or international call and the call won't go thru unless I place a 1 in front of the number and store it that way. Also, whenever I send text messages and someone replies, their message comes back to my phone under the phone number only and not the name that is stored in my contacts. This happens even when the contact sends a direct message to me that is not a reply. (Imagine all the "Merry Christmas" messages I received yesterday that I have no idea who they were from, except the 5 out of 300 contacts whose numbers I have memorized!!) I have gone to the Apple Store and the "Genius" there reset my phone, which temporarily fixed the problem, but now it is back. I did a soft reset, now it randomly selects which names will show up in my text message window. (For example, yesterday, the name "Jane" shows a message that says "Merry Christmas", but after the reset, only Jane's number shows up in the text screen with the same message from yesterday.)
Does anyone know what in the world is going on?? This is Very Annoying! I'm tempted to go back to AT&T, as I am being told that the iphone technology, even for 4S, is not as compatible on Verizon as it is with AT&T. Please help!

Not sure about the random contact name problem. I suspect a bad database. Use iTunes to delete and replace your contacts with a good list. If that doesn't work, do a 100% software reset and don't restore a backup, setup as a new device. Finally, if that fails go back to the apple store. The issue is not software fixable and the unit should be replaced.
The other issue with 1 dialing required... are you roaming? Disable wifi, should say Verizon 3G in the status bar.
When you are off your home area cell network, you are not dealing with Verizon directly.
Edit: your last question about using a Verizon 4S on AT&T's network. You are correct, out of the box the Verizon 4S is locked to only work on Verizon's network. The AT&T 4S and Sprint 4S have the same locks. You can purchase an unlocked iPhone directly from apple. I've also heard of people convincing Sprint customer service to unlock their phones for use out of the country,

  • Editing contacts labels and songs details in N8

Recently I purchased a N8 and using "switch phone" I transferred all my data from my 5800 Xpress music to it. I noticed that all edited labels in phone "contacts" turned to the default labels. Tried to edit them again but such an option is not given by the firmware. The same happens with songs details. I can not find an option to change title, genre, etc... Any ideas?

I have all the info I need for contacts, name, address, Mobile , land line, fax, company ,email, nickname etc, and music details in the new music player show if you go into options and chose , song, genres, playlists etc. It's a different system, more than some people realise. I've changed from N97 to E7 and am really happy with it, with the exception of close up photography (which doesn't really bother me) I can't see a downside !! Enjoy it and mess about as much as possible the phone's great

  • Bug in Changing Contact Names

Recently as I've changed my contacts' names (from the conversation window), Skype has simply corrected them to 'sex'. That's it. 'sex'. However, when I navigate away from the chat and come back to it, the changed name is now reflected.
This has shown up for all contacts I've tried to change! It's amusing, but nsfw. I hope the bug can be resolved soon!

I always find editing contacts using Ovi suite on the desk top works better than on the phone, then just sync contacts !

    Hi,
I am not sure whether you have something specific in mind by using weblink or do you just want a clickable Contact Name in the report.
If you just need a report with contact names (and whatever other fields and filters you may want) and when clicked on they take you to the actual record then you can use Action Links
In your report Add the FullName/Contact Name column and to its immediate right add the Contact ID column (you can make it hidden on the display but it is needed for the action links)
    1. Click on properties for the Contact name column
    2. On the style tab Click on Custom  CSS Style Options (HTML Only) & mark the Use Custrom CSS Class checkbox and type in ActionLink
    3. Go the data format tab and override with Custom Text Format and type/paste in
    @[html]"<span onClick=\"javascript:LinkOccam (this, 'contact');\">"@"</span>"
The contact names should be clickable and should take you to the actual record when clicked on
    Hoep it helps

  • N82 Edit contacts via Nseries PC Suite

    Can anyone help?
I have an N82, which came with a copy of Nokia Nseries PC Suite. I have copied all my contacts over from my Sony Erickson via the simple copy to sim and then onto the N82.
Problem that arises here is that all the contact names have a '/1' or '/2' or '/3' and some names get cut short.
So I would like to be able to easily edit all the contacts on the PC rather than the phone. Doesn't seem to be any options in the Nseries PC suite!
Is there a way, and what is it?
P.S. It would also be nice to be able to compose txt's on the PC - is there a way to do this?

These features are not in the N-series and Ovi Suites, for that you need the standard version.
