Help! Entire image is Green!

Help! I'm trying to transfer HDV footage from a Sony Z1U camcorder and the image appears only to have a green channel. I've tried switching Firewire cables to no avail.
The image played back on the camcorder and through component and standard video on a monitor are fine; only when attempting transfer to iMovie am I having a problem.
I checked camera output settings and iMovie creation settings, and they're both the same as I've used successfully in the past. Any guesses as to what's going on and how it might be remedied?

welcome to the posts.
Have you tried exporting out of motion, either through compressor or as a direct export and importing that clip into fcp. If you have a deadline then this might help you meet it. I had a motion project yesterday that fcp could not render without crashing. Dont think compressor liked it either, had to export from motion as an uncompressed 10 bit and fcp was happy. Think it had something to do with the four emitters I had running, shouldnt be a problem really though.

When using Firefox certain videos play but the image is green and distorted. The image turns into lines and sometimes it half of the screen of the video. Examples are streaming MLB.tv video and some vimeo videos. The odd thing is that it isn’t all Vimeo videos. Is this a flash issue?
The issue does not happen with Internet Explorer which leads me to believe this is an issue with Firefox. I downgraded to 3.5 and the issue still persists.

Try disabling hardware acceleration in your [http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html Flash settings] (using Firefox, right-click on any Flash object on a webpage, select Settings, uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration on the Display tab).

Help with images.....pliiiizzzzzz

Im new to java and need help inserting images on a GUI! Does anyone have any programs or snippets of code that've done this successfully - preferrably using the GridBagLayout as well as in swing? If you have anything that works well, feel free to send me the entire java file ([email protected]) or just post it!

Just create a JLabel with an image icon and you are able to display any JPEG and GIF image. You might take a look at the following:

Is there a way to sharpen or apply unsharp mask to the entire image?

I know there is a sharpening brush under the affects brushes, but is there a way to apply a sharpening or unsharp mask filter to an entire image or layer? This would be very helpful.

Highlight Hot and Cold toggle turns entire Image RED!

I'm curious if anyone has a solution to this issue. I'm using Aperture 2.1.3 on a Macbook Pro running OS Version 10.5.7. I shoot Nikon RAW files and a while back when I hit the ever helpful Option-shift-H (to toggle the Highlight Hot and Cold feature), I end up with the entire image turning red (Hot). Now the histogram is fine, I just can't fine tune the hot and cold areas with the feature. . . I've tried reloading Aperture 2 from the original disk (I did not delete the original copy firs in fear of loosing my images).
This feature worked fine until about 6 months ago- it probably stopped working during one of the updates. . . The "creative" at the apple store scratched his head and suggested I post here for a solution. . . Any help world be appreciated.

In Aperture try this:
Go to Preferences (cmd+,) -> Appearance
Then set
Hot Area Display Threshold to 100%
Cold Area Display Threshold to 0%
You might have set hot to 0% which would cause all parts of the image to appear red.
Just play a bit with those sliders to get what you want.

Help with image ready on ps3 extended

I am pretty new to photo shop and have cs3 extended.
I have a Yorkie website where I cut out my Yorkies and paste them to differnet backgrounds.... a lady that does the ANIMATED pictures HAS DID A COUPLE FOR ME ....BUT I NEED TO LEARN TO DO THIS MYSELF. She will not tell folks how to do:)
The problem is once you work with a pic that is animated already then try to add a dog.....by pasting....it removes the animation in the background pic.... and the picture no longer moves once the dog is added ?....She said she puts thru IMAGE READY...which I do not see anywhere on CS3 extended. I will try to insert a pic she did for me and any help would be greatly appreciated....as I can do but then the picture is no longer animated once altered in my photoshop but she is doing somehow.....so has to be poss ? If I were to do this pic it would stop moving once the dogs were added....plus not as good as her but practicing........could it be the fact she is doing in layers and I am doing copy and paste...I do know she puts thru Image ready and I do not know where this is located on cs3 extended or how to do?

well...........l when I try to open Gif with the import and chose the video frames to layers...am getting a message saying I need Quicktime 7.1 to be able to do??? and when selecting import that is the only option I have to open my animated picture?...YOU HAVE BEEN SO MUCH HELP! I'm not sure anyone mentioned this but if not to open GIFs using the import you have to enter the GIF name as GIF isn't listed as one of the options.
It sounds like you are viewing the images in a maximized screen mode. To view more than one document, press F to cycle through the screen modes. FYI, only the contents of the currently selected document can be viewed in the layers palette.
I'll just talk about copy/paste so as not to confuse...
If you are going to copy/paste, click the frame around the dog document to target it. Your layers palette will now contain the contents of the dog document. Click on the layer in the layers palette with the selected dog over transparency. With that layer highlighted in your layers palette, press Ctrl A; then Ctrl C. (Select<Select All; Edit<copy if you prefer using the menu.) This will copy that layer into your clipboard.
Next, click the frame of the document containing the animation. Click the topmost layer in the layers palette because we want you dog to be in the top layer. Press Ctrl + V. (Edit<Paste if you prefer using the menu).
Your dog is most likely going to be too big. Use Edit<Free Transform to size and move the dog to the desired location.
At this point, your dog should be showing in each frame in the animation palette.

I'm using the older Image Ready me method. The highlighted place in the palette is where you switch methods between the old method and the new timeline. Notice, I have the layers and animation palette both in the workspace...and I'm not in a maximized mode. The red arrow shows the correlation between the frame and the layer represented by it in the layers palette.

Here I have a second image to slip into my animation. I have the creature selected and on it's own layer with transparency around it. Notice that the the layer with the isolated creature is highlighted. At this stage, I'll press Ctrl + A; then Ctrl + C to select and save this image to my clipboard.

Here, I've pasted (Ctrl + V or Edit<Paste) in my creature and resized it (Ctrl + T or Edit<free transform) so he can be jumped. I also added a shadow under my creature which I added to a layer under my creature. Notice that when Frame on is selected in the animation palette that the eye is on both the creature and the shadow. If I click the eye to turn them (creature and shadow layer) off, they disappear from the entire animation. I can make them appear at any frame by clicking the desired frame in the animation then turning on the eye icon for the creature and shadow layer in the layers palette. I can also adjust opacity if desired.
You could even more than the one image if you want the dog to appear to move. Use the eyeball visibility to determine which pose will be used for that frame.

How to do 'direct mipmapping' from JPEG - without loading entire image

I am working on an AIR app that creates thumbnails from images. For images without an EXIF embedded thumbnail, that means loading the entire image into RAM then scaling down to form the thumbnail. That takes a lot of memory and is slow.

I see the following that makes it sound like the JPEG decompressor can subsample the image w/o loading all of it:

the mipmap is substantially faster, and memory used by large bitmaps is not allocated and then freed.
I have looked quite a bit and can't find any samples or documentation for this....
Is this document right? If so how does it work?

How to default Preview/Finder to print "Scale to Fit Print Entire image/Fill Entire Paper"?

Hello all,
I have to print PDFs. Preview or printing directly from Finder prints scaling 100% and many many times the edges of the PDFs are left outside of the printing area. I have the correct paper size selected (A4) and actually the PDFs are also A4 but for some reason 100% zooms in a bit and cuts the sides of the print outside.
I can of course fix this by selecting Scale to Fit and Print Entire Image but I do have to do this every single time I open a PDF. I want to make this option my default! And preferrably so that I can use CMD+P from Finder to print directly without having to open the PDF. I already know what is in it...
I have tried different Terminal tricks I have found searching the web but no luck, this and others with Preview closed before executing the command

Please help and make my life easier. Cannot be this hard.

I got a work around for this. Instead of using RTF template, I used Microsoft Excel itself as template and did the formatting in excel.

HELP: Full Image Turns Completely Blue or Red

When I am making adjustments to an image, the ENTIRE image will suddenly turn a BRIGHT BLUE (sometimes a BRIGHT RED) You can not see any image at all, just the SOLID color. Also the main histogram flat lines.
If I click on the loupe, then I can see the picture through the magnified area, but only the solid color in the smaller targeting area.
If I systematically, uncheck the Exposure, Enhance, Levels... etc., the solid color disappears and the image is viewable again. When I re-check the section that I unchecked when the image re-appeared, the image again turns back into a solid color.
Has anyone experience this problem, if so, were you able to figure out the cause and hope to prevent it from happening.
The solid color does not seem to affect how the image is printed or exported, just in the viewing - which kind of makes it difficult to make adjustments.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the tip. Maybe turning the Highlight on and off with resolve the immediate problem. I sure do like the Highlights though!!!
The solid color thing is very weird. If I switch on and off one of the modification sections enough times, the solid color will eventually stay off, but not permanently. I haven't tried opt-shift-h yet, but I will the next time the solid color appears.

Pen Tool is Selecting Entire Image

Within my image I am using the Pen tool to select an area that I want to copy. When I define the area with anchor points, close it then select Make Selection, New Selection, it puts the marching ants around not only the area I selected but also the entire image (see below).
This suddenly started happening.
I don't want this behavior. Please help.

Check your pen tool settings. You probably accidently checked subtract front shape. What you want is exclude overlapping shapes.

Clone Stamp tool displays a copy of the entire image.

Hi I have just purchased photoshop elements 11. It has been ok for past 10 days or so but now I have a problem when tring to clone.
I select the area by alt+click but then what happens is that the whole picture moves and in fact duplicates itself

Barbara's settings will reset the tool to its default behavior.
More specifically, you probably have the Clipped option turned off. With the default settings, the clone overlay (which shows you a preview of what you are about to copy) is reduced to the size of your brush. With this option off, the entire image will be shown, centered on where you mouse currently is. You can turn this option back on by going to the Clone Overlay button in the Tool Options at the bottom and adding a check next to Clipped. The other posibility is that the Brush size for the tool is at least the same size as the entire image.
Resetting the tool will take care of both of these options.

The entire image turn white while I use the adjustments

When I try to make an adjustment in Aperture on a photo the entire image turns white. I will try to adjust the vibrancy, brightness, or several other adjustments and it always turns the entire image white. This use to be a periodic thing that happened. Once I rebooted the computer it would go back, but it is now happending to every single image I try to edit/adjust. Can I somehow get the image to appear correctly?

How do I display the entire image by default in Photos app instead of filling the entire screen?

A lot of the images that I have stored on my phone are taken with another camera. Whenever I view them in the photo app they don't show the full image until I pinch them. Is there a setting that shows the entire image by default? Don't want to be pinching every photo and when other people view my images they often don't realise that there is actually more to see.

Yes, this is terrible. I am not showcasing the otherwise fine screen but my carefully framed photos. How arrogant from Apple to violently zoom to my pics.
