Help! - Error 1015 and stuck
I just bought a used iPhone 3G 8GB off an ad page, first time ever touching an iPhone so I was pretty excited.
GPS wasn't tracking, and some old junk was still left on it from the previous user who I think unlocked/jailbroke it or something. I confirmed that the model number was for FIDO which is my carrier so decided to just reset the phone.
Went into iTunes, said an update available, so from there ran the restore/update.
Seemed fine then got the error 1015 and the annoying screen showing the USB cable and iTunes logo came up and has been there 2 hours now.
I tried re-running the restore on the PC, then tried on the MAC. As per some fixes I found online, I updated iTunes, restarted the computer and phone, even tried running 3rd party apps like 'RecBoot' and 'Error 1015 Fixer'. Nothing so far has fixed it.
Kinda bummed, having had this phone only 2 days and bricking it doing a simple 'restore'. This is my only phone, no landlines, so for now, kinda screwed and thinking it was a waste of money.

Your problem could be that the phone you purchased was jailbroken or the firmware was downgraded at some point in the past. The problem with downgrading firmware is that it creates a mismatch between the baseband & the OS. While users "successfully" downgrade the OS, they can't downgrade the baseband, thus creating a mismatch. This can so corrupt things that it becomes impossible to restore the phone. I can't say for certain this is your problem, but it could very well be. Try restoring your phone, again, after deleting all the existing .ipsw files. But this time try DFU mode:
1. Close iTunes.
2. Connect your iPhone to your computer and then launch iTunes.
3. Turn your iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone).
4. Then, hold down the sleep/wake button and home button together for EXACTLY 10 SECONDS, then release the sleep/wake button.
5. Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected. When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black. Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode.
6. Hit the OK message that should popup to restore your phone.
If this does not work, I have no further suggestions.

Help - Error 1015 after update
I updated my iphone 3GS on itunes and now I'm getting Error 1015 and the phone is stuck on the itunes plug in screen. I bought this phone second-hand as an unlocked phone but when it froze in February, I quickly realised that it was jailbroken which I did NOT want. I called Apple to find out who the phone was locked to (Telstra) so I registered my name as the owner with Apple and then called Telstra to get the phone unlocked. I used a Telstra sim card to unlock the phone & since then the phone has worked perfectly with my vodafone sim card .... until I connected to itunes & was informed that an update was available.
When I connect the phone to itunes it says that the phone is in recovery mode but when I try to restore it, it comes up with the "error 1015" every time!
Just wondering if anyone has had this problem and how I go about fixing it???That happened to me a few updates ago. It was for me an iTunes issue. I had to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. Then reinstall update to factory settings. That allowed me to restore from back up of phone on iTunes. It seems that in the middle of the update, iTunes quit recognizing my phone or iTouch. ( think after it happening to one I would have stopped!!!). All is working fine now, iTunes recognizes phone and iTouch with no problems. Latest update went off without a hitch. Hope this helps

I'm user of iphone 3g (ios 4.2.1). My phone was jailbroken but after jailbreak, ituens ask for restore of system. So i made this restore, and my problems appears. I cant restore soft, when i trying to restore i have error 1015, i try to use ireb, lubusb and other stuff. And myh phone is still blocked. Plz help me
problem solved, i install a custom firmware 4.2.1. Problem appear because while i'm does jailbreak , i;ve install ipad baseband. if u install custom firmware this problem disappear

I have done each and everyone of the steps (advanced and basic) recommended by Apple. Unfortunately, now i cannot even use my IPhone because it seems to not respond. I have turn it off, reset it with the home and main buttom pressed simultaneously. Restore it again and the same error ( unknown error occurred and your IPhone could not be restored). Please, let me know what should i do to at least use my cellphone again. Thanks.

I waited so long not to update of my iphone4 to 7.x.x because of bugs and not much stable for iPhone4 and many reviews from friends saying phone is very slow and many bugs but after release of iOS 7.1.1 of many improvements for iphone4. I tried to update my iphone4 to 7.1.1 through iTunes at last stage of firmware upgrading its showing an error occurred error (16). I checked in internet error16 is purely hardware issue before my phone is very good condition in iOS6.1.3 no problem with my phone, But after upgrading to how it will be hardware issues. why Apple engineers are not testing properly their software’s before releasing great updates to customers now my phone is out of warranty and I can’t use it anymore just showing iTunes symbol and charger on the screen while on/off showing apple logo. From the past September there is no proper solution for error 16. Don’t know what these people are doing about that error why apple is crashing customer phones by releasing useless update to phones what is the point of buying such a expensive phones don't know what to do with this phone. tried to restore in 3 Different computers and so many times but no luckHi, to get your iPhone 4 back to normal, here're two ways for you.
1. Use Dr.Fone for iOS. The free trial version can fix iPhone screen of death. The free trial version can do that, you don't have to pay.
Just download and install this software on your computer and connect your iPhone 4 to computer with a USB cable. When it detects your iPhone 4 is abnormal, click Restart the device to get your iPhone 4 to be normal.
2. Use iTunes to fix it.
Step 1. Make sure that the latest iTunes is installed on your computer.
Step 2. Plug into a USB cable to connect your iPhone4 to computer.
Step 3. Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time for about 10s.
Step 4. 10 seconds later, release the sleep/wake button. But continue to hold the home button until a message comes out, saying "iTunes has discovered an iPhone 4 in recovery mode, you must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes".
Step 5. Click your iPhone 4 in the left sidebar to show the device control panel on the right. Then, click Summary.

Error message and stuck audio disk
I'm getting the following error message at restart ""IOStorageFamily.kext was improperly installed and cannot be used. Go to vendor for update or reinstall." This appeared after I put an audio disk in the CD drive that does not appear on the desktop and will not eject. Anyone?
Once you extract the disc, reinstall the OS and then run Software Update to bring it back to 10.6.4. This procedure only removes and restores OS components, resolving your issue.

Error 1015 upgrading to iOS5 - iPad 2 - Stuck in Recovery?
So basically the title is a synopsis.
I upgrade to iOS5 on my iPad2 and midway through the update I get the error (1015) and then my iPad 2 is stuck in recovery mode with no firmware apparently and on top of it all my computer does not detect the device so I cannot restore it.
Thankfully I have a friend who's computer has no problem seeing it after that error and I just restore it using his.
The weird thing is that my iPhone 4 had no problem upgrading AND is still visible by my computer.
Once my iPad 2 is restored It is visible again but still stuck on 4.3.5...Anyone? Nothing?
