[HELP] Error -2002

I just got and converted an episode of southpark. I used videora Ipod Touch Convertor. Now when ever I go to open it in QuickTime a message appears saying
'Error -2002: a bad public movie atom was found in the movie (216.mp4)'.
If I try to open it up in iTunes nothing happens at all. This movie is not corrupt becuase it opens up perfectly in Nero. I took a screen shot of the message that appeared.

When I had this error the fix was to make sure PHP new where to find the mysql socket. In your PHP config look for the mysql section and the lnie for setting the socket. Most likely the socket will be /tmp/mysql.sock, but depending on how mysql was installed it could be elsewhere. Apple's mysql that comes with OS X Server uses /var/mysql/mysql.sock.

Random selections of mp4 videos won't sync, convert for iPhone option in iTunes comes up with unknown error 2002, help please!

I've been having massive issues copying mp4 video files onto my iPhone 4 from my windows 7 (64 bit) pc.
I converted a large number of avi files into mp4 using aiseesoft movie converter and most of them work just fine.
However about a quarter of the files with no Obvious difference in size and converted the same way will not sync.
Instead a message appears saying these cannot be played on the iPhone.
Also when then trying to use the iTunes convert for iPhone function It fails for unknown error 2002.
Any help on why this is happening and how to stop it would be greatly appreciated.

When the videos are in the Movie library, try using the Create IPod and iPhone Version in the Afvanced tab of iTunes.

PHPMyAdmin Error 2002 help

OS: Mac OS X Tiget 10.4.3
PHP:5.0.4
MySQL: 5.0.18
I have set up my Apache and PHP, MySQL on my Powerbook and I am trying to install PHP MyAdmin. I have everything in place and seems to work except that i keep getting this error 2002, which is related to the PATH to my MySQL.
I have tried changing the path but not getting it right. The PATH I have set up for MySQL is /usr/mysql/bin but I'm not sure what to change the PATH to in my PHPMyAdmin config file?
Anyone able to help please.

Fascinated and guessing:
Something related to sock(2) because that's not part of your copied info. I'm thinking you've doubled up on sockets and the second socket doesn't exist, meaning you should be connecting to the first socket "mysqld.sock" whether automatic or not.
I've only used GUI tools on purpose, so does this mean you've already got MySQL running and you tried to launch it again manually? Perhaps you already have one instance of a db and you're trying to launch a second instance, and the two can't coexist with a single user local db?
Assuming this is all local, I'd shut down the db service and restart it, out of hand. I've seen similar messages when I set the db to start up on boot, and it didn't finish shutting down when I tried to restart it manually. Usually the GUI won't let me turn it on because it reports it's already running, but in that case it hadn't finished performing what the GUI was reporting.
Just speculating.

Thanks for your time Ken and I have uninstalled and reinstalled but its still the same. The only thing I can think of is I installed zone alarm and since then its not work.

How to solve error 2002: bad public movie atom found?

I have a Windows XP. I am running Quicktime 7.7.1. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I have no idea what the problem could be. When I uninstalled Quicktime the videos played fine in Windows Media Player Classic, but without sound. I don't know if thats relevant at all. I have to have QuickTime back!! Please help...if you need any more info, please ask...

I have the same problem
mp4s created with nero recode worked well with itunes.
Rebuilt my machine with Windows Vista installed latest iTunes and quick time and now 25% of the movies return a public atom error.
Interestingly the same movies on my network drive play OK, but if you copy them to My Videos you get error 2002 public atom (but only for the ones that I originally found did not play).
I have created new mp4s with Recode and they donot play except when moved to the network drive.
I have reinstalled quicktime and Vista with no effect.I think this is a Vista/Itunes/Quicktime compatibilty issue.
Can any one else help?

Unknown error (-2002)

I am getting unknown error (-2002) when I try to "create ipod or iphone version" of movies in iTunes, I am doing this because it's not syncing all my movies to my iphone. Can anyone help?

Ok, tried that, now not only does the content not sync over, when I select it, it doesn't reflect a change in the available memory of my iPhone. I can watch the videos via iTunes though. Still getting the 2002 error when attempting to create ipod or iphone version of a video.

hey, try this in terminal, creating a symbolic link, from your real socket to a "fake socket"
sudo ln -s /tmp/mysql.sock /var/mysql/mysql.sock

MySQL broken out of the box - error 2002.

MySQL is broken out of the box - 10.5.2 server. Brand new Xserve, an untouched OS X Server installation, no tinkering was done *at all*.
Here's what I did:
1. Opened Server Admin.
2. Added MySQL service.
3. Went to Settings.
4. Changed "Database location" to be on another, faster drive in the Xserve.
5. Clicked "Start MySQL" button
6. Opened Terminal, typed in "mysql" and hit Return.
What do I get?
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
There's no mysql.sock file there, nor in /temp. Running lsof while the mysql daemon is "started up" shows there is a mysql.sock file in /var/mysql though. Very odd.
Any ideas? I'd like to avoid rolling my own install of MySQL, and stick with the built-in version.

And FWIW, this basic case is fairly standard MySQL socket behavior on various platforms. That the GUI apparently allowed you to shoot yourself in the foot here is another discussion.

Mysql error 2002 & missing mysql.sock

ok, I know this issue is all over the internet, however after reading many posts I have not been able to solve my issue. I hoping someone can help me out. Lets start with the error I get when typing "mysql start" in the terminal:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
I have mysql 5.0.51a x86_64 installed on my macbook pro, I used the package installer. I can tell you that the mysql.sock file is nowhere on my machine. It isn't in "private/var/mysql/ or private/tmp".
I have the php.ini set to look for the socket like this: "mysql.default_socket = /var/mysql/mysql.sock" & "mysqli.default_socket = /var/mysql/mysql.sock"
I have the my.cnf file set to:
client (client is contained in square brackets)
socket = /var/mysql/mysql.sock
mysqld (mysqld is contained in square brackets)
socket = /var/mysql/mysql.sock
I cannot get mysql to start from the mysql preference panel or the terminal. How do I fix this missing socket file issue? Please help me I'm so frustrated by the fact I cannot get this worked out. Thanks in advance!

I've seen this before, on Tiger Server, personally. I think the php.ini change was what I did to resolve it. I can't recall for sure.

I have a Nikon Coolpix L10 (about 2 years old) that records video in the .mov format.
Most of the time when I play the videos on my computer I used to get a bad flicker and the video would often freeze. When I used a video editing program I found that for every two frames of video there was a black frame.
So I thought maybe Quicktime wasn't 100% compatible with the file type or version. So after some deliberation I got Quicktime Pro and I have the newest version 7.6.5. The flicker is gone but the video still freezes.
So I tried exporting to MP4 or AVI or anything and I keep getting
"Error -2002: a bad public movie atom was found in the movie"
It wont allow me to export the video to a different format.
Sometimes when I cancel the export Windows pops up a screen that it's searching for a reason that the Export Controller stopped working.

Thank you very much for the help. I tried copying and pasting the video file that is a .mov file to my zip drive and then I tried to an .avi file. The reason for doing this is so I can edit it with microsofts windows movie maker. After I had it on the zip drive and tried to export it so I could change the file it still defaults to the error 2002 message saying there is a bad public movie atom. I have done a bunch (5) other movies from the camera and they all worked and then the last one would not. So I assume there is a random factor that happens such as file size or something in the recording that causes the random atom attack. Maybe the difference is not being a mp4. It would be great if there was a definitiion of what bad public atom was and what it meant. Computers and technology is great.
I did another search and found that a person commented on zipping the file. Well I tried to zip it from the external drive I have to my desktop and it would not work. Then I ziped the file again. Saved to a external drive then unziped it to the same external drive. From that file I then did the file export and it went fine. So the moral of the story is if the video you took is important keep searching and trying and thanks for everyones help. Why is it the vendor of the product does not post solutions? Anyway now I can go on making movies and editing them. It must be a file corruption issue so that by moving the 1's and 0's around it fixes it's self. Is it a bug with the camera recording or is a bug with quick time?

I hope that there's someone out there that could help me with this issue that I have with iTunes.
When I try to add the taggs of each of my movies in my library, such as name, genre and poster, my iTunes 9 out of 10 times crashes. But that is not the whole thing.
When it crashes, I discover that the movies that I tried to edit were damaged by the software and none of them are playable by either VLC, WMP or QuickTime. When I try to play them in QuickTime I get the message: "Error - 2002" and something about a damaged public atom.
What is this **** and how do I recover all of my films?

IOS Sockets: Error #2002: Operation attempted on invalid socket.

Hey All,
If anyone has a fix for this it would be greatly appreciated, or just let me know if I'm missing something, but I can't seem to get a port open while running on iOS. I've read a lot of reasons for this is that the port is still in-use from a previous session of the application that failed to close the port properly, but that is simply not there case here. To test this, I've tried looping through a variety of different port ranges on application start, and this error occurs on every port attempted...

Note: This feature is supported on all desktop operating systems, but is not supported on mobile devices or AIR for TV devices.
You should trace ServerSocket.isSupported and you'll see it's not supported on iOS devices.
Believe me, I frikin wish they'd support that and SecureSocket.

Error -2002 hardware issue after diagnostics what can i do to fix?

My macbbok 11 air has a mind of it's own. Sometimes turns on, often doesn't! the genius bar couldn't even turn on. At the moment it is on and so i have run a diagnostics and an error -2002 came up. Does anyone know what i can do to fix this myself? Or do i just need a new logic board. I'm assuming its a hardware issue, but does that mean replacing all? Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

I got error (14) while I was trying to update my Moms iPod Touch (1st Gen) to the latest iPhone software on my computer. I kept trying to update it and it said the same thing. Ok. I have spent the last 8 hours researching this problem and have the absolute 110% answer to everyone's problem with this issue.
Error 13 and 14 : Are checksum problems with the firmware image that is in the update package.
The update package is a .ipsw (IPod or IPhone SoftWare). This file is actually just a .zip renamed .ipsw.
The error is caused by a failure to download a crc-free version of the file. Not really sure why there are so many crc problems with the iphone updates, but Apple does not check the integrity of the update package before wiping your current version of IPhone software and that is why all IPhones that start an update with a bad update package end up in recovery mode. These errors are NOT related to the iTunes installation, antivirus software, or firewalls.
Recommendation : use a program like "Object Fix" (Freeware) to verify the integrity of the file prior to commencing with any new updates. You will have to keep trying to download it until you get a error free file. Once you have a CRC error free file this problem will go away. (I thought TCP/IP helped get rid of CRC errors.)
I had another problem and that was...
Error 1603 and 1604 : These are USB driver connectivity problems.
Recommendation : FULLY uninstall and re-install itunes software as stated in the Apple support documentation. Be sure to reboot between each step and these problems should clear themselves up. In addition, firewalls and anti-virus software may cause these errors as well.
Finally, shame on apple for not properly documenting their software so that end users do not have to decrypt their error messages with no true support to solve the issues. These are problems that enough people have had that there should be specific documentation on these problems.
