Help! everytime i put the ipod on the usb my computer restarts!
Hi everyone,
i wanted to add songs to my ipod so put it on the usb, it told me that i had to update the ipod to be able to use it on my computer (??), so i did it and it erased everything, but then after that update now everytime i put the ipod on the usb, in about 3 seconds my computer restarts, like big black screen then restarts. i tried several usb ports, i reinitialized the ipod, etc etc and it still continues. what does it mean? please help me!
thank you
hmmmm. are you getting any sort of a blue screen, as well as the black screen, alex?
if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

- I've tried to restart my computer (windows XP)

plz hlp me!
- ps it really should be able to add music to my iPod without getting help from a expert.Hello qz0rz213,
It would seem that iTunes has encountered or developed an issue in the process of trying to sync photos to your device. The best place to start would be removing the iPod Photo Cache (thus allowing for a new version to be created).
Note: Deleting this folder will not remove the original images from your library.
iTunes: Understanding the iPod Photo Cache folder

If the issue is not resolved by removing the iPod Photo Cache, the following article goes into further steps that can both help you determine the source of this trouble and eliminate it.
Symptoms
In certain situations, iTunes may display an alert or may be unable to sync photos to an iPod or iOS device. Examples include:
After updating iOS, iTunes displays an alert that there is not enough room to sync photos
This error appears: "The iPhone/iPod touch '[device name]' cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found."
This article outlines steps to resolve these issues.

I just bought a MacBook Pro in the US and I was wondering what I need to charge it in Spain, do I just need to put the USB in the regular iPhone charger or do I need anything special?
For Mac: Just a pin converter for your charger.
For iPhone: connect to your Mac or use the pin converter and charge using the wall power adapter. -

Help! I put the wrong OS disc in my G4 Cube, and it won't run!
Hi everyone,
Hopefully someone can tell me that I didn't screw things up royally here...
I just bought a used G4 Cube (that's all I know right now) that I know was running some version of OSX, I think it was v.10.3. I had OSX system discs from a recently purchased MacBook, and wondered if I could update the OS on the Cube using those. Didn't work!
I clicked on the install icon, and then the button to restart and install, but got a crazy bunch of text across the whole screen saying things like "panic" and "no system driver"---there was a lot, and I got scared and powered it down.
Can I forget this whole thing happened in some way? Is it possible to eject the disc before the machine tries to start up from it? Or, can I use some keystroke combo to force it to start from the hard disk?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Oh, it was running fine before I had the brilliant idea to try and upgrade the OS.
Thanks,
ChaadHi, Chaad -
If the machine failed to boot to the OSX disk, then the installer probably did not run at all. If that is the case, the OS's on your hard drive should be intact.
When you clicked the restart and install button, the install disk app reset PRAM to use the install disk as the boot volume. Until that setting in PRAM is reset to something usable, or the disk ejected, it will continue to try to boot to it.
Either, or both, of the following should work -
Solution #1 - get the disk ejected.
Restart or boot, immediately press the mouse button, keep it held down. This is a hardware instruction to the Mac to eject all removable media, and should eject the disk. Once that has happened you'll need to wait for a while for the Mac to get tired of looking for the now-absent disk, and seek another valid and present OS from whichc to boot. It should eventually find one on your hard drive.
Solution #2 - get the machine to boot to an OS on the hard drive.
Restart or boot, immediately press the Option key, keep it held down. This should bring up Startup Manager, which should present several icons, at least one of which will be an OS on your hard drive. Click that icon, then click the straight arrow icon on the right. The machine should now boot to that OS on the hard drive. You can then eject the install disk normally.
Article #HT1310 - Startup Manager: How to Select a Startup Volume
In either case, once the machine has booted to an OS on the hard drive, go to Startup Disk and reset it to the OS on the hard drive which you wish to use for the next boot. -
My itunes library does not stay in its new location in the time capsule. Every time I put the computer to sleep or leave it alone for awhile, the itunes location goes back to the original location in the macbook. Then I have to change the location back to the time capsule and wait for it to reorganize all the files again. So the question is how to keep my itunes in its new location the time capsule?
Welcome to the discussion area!
+Can someone please provide a definite answer, or at least warn against using the TC as a shared media device on a network. The whole point of getting such a device is to be able to offload large multimedia libraries from the laptops, yet access a shared library when networked. N'est ce pas?+
We're all users here...not pros...so you'll get few definitive answers on a forum with varying opinions about almost every subject.
My opinion would be this: Apple designed the Time Capsule for Time Machine to automatically backup all the files on your Mac and other Macs in the household on a regular basis and provide a way to retrieve a file that had been deleted recently by mistake. It's a pretty good router as well.
If you check the info about the Time Capsule on Apple's site, the main features mentioned are backup of your Macs and a dual band wireless network capability.
The Time Capsule was never designed to be a media server housing audio, video and other multi-media files and has never been promoted as such. Nevertheless, some users seem to have adopted the stance that this should be one of the benefits of the device, if not a main feature.
There may be a need for media server type device, but the Time Capsule, at least at this time, is not the answer. If you feel otherwise, you might want to speak directly to Apple and let them know via Time Capsule Feedback. -

For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -

Any or all of the following third-party system modifications may be contributing to your problem:
OpenVPN client
Driver for unknown USB network device
BlackBerry Desktop Manager
If the panic is recurrent, I suggest you uninstall them, one at a time, according to the developers' instructions, to see whether you can determine which is at fault. A conflict between modifications may be involved. Reboot and test after each uninstallation.

Putting my ipod tunes onto my new computer
Hi
Just bought a new computer, have installed itunes, but can't transfer my ipod tunes to the library. How the **** do i do this?!?
It's willing to transfer music from windows media into itunes, then on to the ipod.
Please help!!!!!iTunes and iPod are designed not to work in reverse so that people can't steal music. Did you get rid of your old computer? Did you back up your iTunes library there? If so you could just transfer the backed up files from one comp to the other.
