Help fails to launch in Adobe Reader X

I've installed Adobe Reader X on an Windows XP SP3 PC. When I press <F1> or choose in the menu Help F1, help doesn't start but a error box pops up:
I'll try to translate it: "The content off the online help can not been shown. Check if you can start the web browser or if you have authorization te the internet".
All the other help have not this issue. When I click for help | Online support ... the web browser will start and show the webpage.
This problem occurs on our “closed” PC and also on an Windows 7 PC. When I run it on an stand-alone PC with Internet connection it works perfectly.
By the way, the protected mode is disabled.
Who can help me?
With kind regards,
Johan de Man

That's the problem. When saving MS Word 2007 documents that had headings in them as PDFs, the headings were converted to bookmarks. I can go back and open documents prior to mid-December 2011 and they have their bookmarks, but PDFs created in Word 2007 after that period (about the time I upgraded my Adobe Reader from 9 to X), do not have their headings converted to bookmarks.

  • Fail to Open in Adobe Reader 9.0

My Adobe Interactive form was implemented through Adobe Design 7.1 but it seems to be only able to run on customer desktop that installed with Adobe Reader 8.0. 8.1 or 8.1.2.
Also, it'll fails to be open when user has Adobe Acrobat / Adobe Professional install.
Can anyone let me know why and how can I fix this?

    1) why do you think your form is not running? Any message? Weird behavior? You didn´t describe any details/ evidence.
    2) Would you consider finding a new "balance" between your posts and points count? Would be cool to see you helping the other people if you seek help yourself.

I KEEP GETTING THE MESSAGE THAT UPDATES ARE READY TO BE INSTALLED ON ADOBE READER 8.2.1
WHEN I TRY TO INSTALL, I GET AN UPDATE FAILED ERROR 1500 WHICH REFERS ME TO ADOBE READER REPAIR.
WHEN I TRY TO RUN THAT, I GET AN ERROR 1606 WHICH REFERS TO ACCESS TO A FILE ON ANOTHER NETWORK TO WHICH I WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO FOR THE NEXT 8 MONTHS.

    I AM RUNNING VISTA OS.
ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Please do not post in all uppercase - it is very hard to read!
Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to remove your current Adobe Reader, then install it again.

  • Please help me with installation of adobe reader

Hello, I hope I'm in the right spot.  I finally was successful in downloading and installing flash player but now I can not download and install the adobe reader!!  It gets all the way through the download and gives me the message "installation did not pass the integrity check"... as a result I can no longer read pdf's...  Please help.  What is up with this???   This was the same message and problem I had with installing the new flash player, but I ran a debugger and then was able to download the flash player.  I tired running the debugger again and installing reader but it did not work.  Please help.  Thank you,
    Kathleen

I've had the same problem installing the update for Adobe Reader 9.3.2.  On every PC at work (Windows XP SP3) I have had to uninstall Adobe Reader and reinstall in order for the 9.3.3 to be accepted!  Annoying but acceptable.  However, on one particular PC I now have the problem where I am unable to neither uninstall nor update nor reinstall - whatever I do the same message comes up:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."
I hoped your link would assist, but alas it has not.
I have tried System Restore to a time prior to all this fuss and bother, but that hasn't helped either - the same message still comes up.
I am now at a loss as to what to do next and getting peed off as I'm having to try to resolve this remotely while at home, on a weekend, when I should be out enjoying the glorious London sun!
Cheers in advance to anyone who can help =)
P.S. Our PC's aren't linked to a network server - they are standalone.  We're a charity with limited funds alas.

  • Can't launch updated Adobe Reader v10.1.3 in Firefox v3.6.28 in Mac OS X 10.5.8?

    Hello.
Is it me or does the newly updated Adobe Reader v10.1.3 does not load from Firefox v3.6.28 in Mac OS X 10.5.8? This is after I click on any PDF links on a web site. Safari had no problems though!
    Thank you in advance.

It's not about that, I think, as I got the exactly same bug with Firefox 12.0 / OS X 10.7.3 after the last Adobe Reader update.
However, the release notes are interesting, see p. 6: "If you still require a 32-bit solution, this update also supports Mozilla Firefox for Macintosh when it is opened in 32-bit mode."
So, it seems that the last update is pushing the inline viewer (NPAPI?) plugin to 64-bit Firefox, even that it's known that it wouldn't work. In Mozilla forums some had tried to fix this by forcing Firefox to open in 32-bit mode (via Finder -> Applications -> right-click Firefox -> Get Info -> check Open in 32-bit mode), but I'd rather see the bug itself fixed.
Interesting. Where are you seeing this in Mozilla forums? I didn't see anyone talk about this Adobe Reader problem in Firefox newsgroups on news.mozilla.org news server even after I posted my issue.
It's in this bug report: http://support.mozilla.org/fi/questions/925055 - confirmed already by 230 people, by the way...
Sorry to hear that the 32-bit workaround didn't work for you. (I haven't even tested it yet myself, just disabled the plug-in altogether to get the pdf files even loaded to Preview...)

  • Help opening PDF files using Adobe Reader

I just downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader on my Mac, and now whenever I try and open a PDF file, a message pops up saying "Before viewing PDF documents in this browser, you must launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, the Quit and relaunch the browser."  How do I launch Adobe Reader and accept this End User License Agreement??

Just open the Adobe Reader application (not in the browser!) and accept the EULA.

  • Help finding optimize option in Adobe Reader XI

I have Adobe Reader XI and I need to optimize the background before I print my documents. I can't find the optimize option anywhere. I looked up tutorials for my version and I do not have the same options that are shown.

For some reason my scanned documents print out with a light blue background. My coworkers have an older version of Adobe and showed me how to go into the optimize option and change the settings so it prints without the background being blue. My adobe doesn't have the same options.

  • Help with Error 14 in Adobe Reader

I have Adobe X and am trying to download pdf files from a tertiary institute. The first page will often download, and then the rest is blank, with an error 14. What can I do about this please? Thanks!

This possibly means the pdf content is possibly corrupted from that page onwards.

  • Need help filling out forms in Adobe Reader 10.

Just upgraded to Adobbe Reader 10. How can I fill out forms?  There is no hand tool. I checked the security of the document. It states that filling out forms is allowed.  Please help. There is no way that the sender of the document expected it to be filled out by hand.  Thanks!!!

That only means that IF it had filable fields, you would be alowed to fill them in. It does not mean that those fields exist. If it's fillable, you would get a notification at the top of the PDF.

  • Using Adobe Reader under Firefox: I have read the Mozilla specific help for this and fail.

I have Firefox 3.6 and FC13. I need to run Adobe reader under Firefox to be able to submit tax forms. I run Adobe reader 9 fine separately, including forms.
In the reset download actions Mozilla suggestion I fail at: 2. click File and select Exit, then 3. delete the mimetypes.rdf file. I can delete the file with a different sequence but it does not help.
I would install Adobe reader separately as an Add-on, but cannot find it. I only find PDFescape.
My adobe preferences specify use of the Firefox browser and I start under Firefox Open File but submit fails because I am no longer under Firefox.

What is your operating system?  Reader version?
