Help file's location

Anyone know in visualC++ where to put the help files? I have compiled
help files like VCCORE.CHM from the MSDN but I don't know where in the
directory structure of visualC++ to put them.
thanks

Nice to obtain this tip. But aas far as I can view it now measurement studio, visual studio 6.0 and msdn do not work together. My help collection file hhcolreg.dat located in the /help directory is messed up. I believe it is caused by measurement studio installation.
After installation I did find:
The actual platsdk.col was removed from my system, which implicates that I can't view my Microsoft Platform SK example help files.
So, please be carefully to backup part of your system
before installing something.

  • I've lost all my help files

    Hi,
the other day when I started up LabVIEW I got an error saying it had to install a runtime engine, no idea why this happened but I fixed it by reinstalling my drivers.  Anyway since I did that I've lost all my help files.  The context help works fine, but when I click "VI, function and how-to help", or "Click here for more help" in the context help window, nothing happens.  It doesn't even open up a window any more.
Any ideas what the problem could be?  I'm not sure which disk the files are on so I'm not sure how to reinstall them.
I'm running LabVIEW 7.1 Full Development System on Windows 2000.
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi Nick,
Sorry to hear about you losing the help files, which drivers did you re-install when you had the initial problem?
The help files are located in C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\help, you could check whether files in this folder have been deleted or your access has somehow been restricted to this folder. If there are a set of compiled HTML files there, try opening those individually and see if they open OK.
Can you open Help from the LabVIEW Help menu (Help>>Contents) or pressing F1?
I would try repairing LabVIEW from the Add/Remove programs section of the Control Panel first, and see if this helps.
Please let me know how you get on!

  • Help Files do not work

We are currently using SAP BUSINESS ONE 2007 on Windows Server 2003
Unfortunatly when we click on the help icon or simply press F1 our help never appears. Instead we get a message stating "Help Files not found Would you like to download the help files.
Any idea why this message appears and never downloads the files.

    Dear Sebastiano Todaro,
The help files are located in the following folder C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\B1_SHR , so make sure that the user has permission to access this.
Another thing you can check is the help settings on the particular pc. Go to help/help settings. Make sure they are set according to all other clients.
You can refer SAP Note no  896944 and 1178123 for more information.

  • Help Files access

    Hi Experts,
Our B1 users complain  that they can't access help files via citrix. What is the cause of the problem ? We use SBO 2007A.
    Kind Rgds,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
    Try this resolution:
If it is not possible to open the Help Files for SAP Business One. The user, who cannot open the help file, needs to have read/write permission.
    Resolution:
The help files are located on the SAP Business One client directory if the Help Setting is set to Local installation
The default directory is C:\Program Files\Sap\Sap Business One\Help\
As the files are copied from the SBO-COMMON database to the mentioned patch, itu2019s necessary to have read/write permission on the mentioned folder
Or itu2019s necessary to download the Help Files via user account who has this kind of permission on the affected computer
Afterwards the normal users will be able to open and use the SAP Business One Online Help

    Hi,
one of my colleagues is failing to access to the help system with Primavera.
He is getting a message that says
    "The Address is Not Valid"
there is a screenshot on the attached URL
It is not happening on any other machine.
I have reinstalled the Primavera on his computer and the problem still occurs.
Any guidance on this would be very appreciated.
    Many Thanks

    Thanks,
I have checked the file type for the help file and it is set correctly,
the help file does open outside of the application without any issues.
It only seems to be a problem when open accessing the help file within Primavera.
I even tried setting the language differently (to German) and then accessing the help system but to no avail.
my feeling are there is a missing component are entry somewhere that tells the Helps system where the help files are located.
any further help would be very appreciated

  • How do I tell the installer to put my html help files in the helpdir symbolic location?

I used the File>>Print function to create an HTML help file for my application and specified in the VI Properties for the app to use <helpdir>:\ApplicationHelp.HTML as the Help Path. This should pop up the help file when a user selects "Help for This VI" from my custom menu. It works from my development directory because I installed the help files into the help directory manually, but I can't figure out how the get the installer to put the files in the correct location on the target system.  I tried putting them in [LabVIEW 2010 Help] in the Destination View for the Source Files category, but that didn't work.  Anyone know the right way to do this?

    Hey MrSmith,
In LabVIEW 2010 SP1, if open the Project and right click My Computer, you can add the help file as a source. After you have added this file, you can then create an installer. Under the Destination header, you can add your desired destination path. After you have done that, you can go to the Source Files header and add the help file to that destination you created.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your application!

Thank you for the reply! I had already done the steps you suggested, so let me put up some screen shots that should help you understand my issue better. First, I specified the path to the help information on the Documentation screen of the applications Properties:
Next I had added all the help files (DetectorFT.html and all the .png files) to the source in a virtual folder I named Resources.
Next, for the release build I specified the files to be Always Included on the Source Files header.
Next I created a Resource Directory as a destination for the release build.
Then I specified the Resource directory as the destination for the files for the Release build.
After creating the Release build, I created an Installer build and told it on the SOurce Files screen to put the help files into the [LabVIEW 2010 Help] directory.
I had assumed that putting the files in the [LabVIEW 2010 Help] destination would put them into the correct directory when the installer ran.  When I ran the installer on the target system, the ran the application I tried to select the "Help for This VI" tab on the menu, but it was grayed out indicating it could not find the file in the proper location.  So the question I have is, what IS the proper location for the files to be installed to so the the application will find the Help files when it is looking for them at the <helpdir> Symbolic Path location? Thanks again!

  • Does anyone know where the iWeb data files are located or what they are called?  I can't find them.  I looked in Finder for files named the same as my website, but found nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone know where the iWeb data files are located or what they are called?  I can't find them.  I looked in Finder for files named the same as my website, but found nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.

If you erased or replaced your hard drive since iWeb was cancelled, then they are gone. Otherwise, if you have maintained backups then check those.
Usually such files are in the /Home/Library/ folder or a sub-folder.
    Exposing the /Home/Library/ Folder
Pick one of the following methods:
    A. This method will make the folder visible permanently. Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and paste the following at the command prompt:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library
    Press RETURN.
    B. Click on the Desktop, press the OPTION (⌥) button, select Library from the Finder's Go menu.
    C. Select Go To Folder from the Finder's Go menu. Paste the following in the path field:
    ~/Library
    Press the Go button.

I have a problem in SBO where the help file location for when I press F1 in SBO is using the wrong server name and I need to update it. I can see this via Top Menu > Help > Help Settings. Now I can't see where I change this.

  • Essbase Visual Basic API - Help File locations

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can help. Normally on XP Office 2003 I can get the VBA help via Help->Essbase Help. However I'm on Vista Office 2007 and when I goto the Add Ins->Essbase Help, I get an error that states:
Why can't I get Help from this program?
The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which was used in previous versions of Windows and it is not supported in Windows Vista.
For more information, see Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) is no longer included with Windows on the Microsoft support website.
So I need another way to access these help files.. Is there another way to do this??????
    Thanks,
    Sam

loading data from the VB api uses the import function. Look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_api/topapilist.htm for the system 9 version of the documentation. The document gives you samples for different functions you will need. from initialization, login, import, logout and termination

  • Lightroom 3 offline help file location?

I'm sure this has been answered 2 million times already in this forum but various searches ("offline lightroom help file") don't get me very far (I have found the URL for 2.0 though...). Checked the Lightroom FAQ and release notes too.
Any pointer will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
(shame on Adobe for making it so hard to find something so essential - what about a direct link to download this from the help menu?)

Top right corner of linked page http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Lightroom/3.0/Using/index.html Click on pdf symbol to download.
It's also worth noting that when connected to internet above is the page you get taken to when you click Lightroom Help in the application Help menu or hit F1

  • Error message when I try to open the "help" files.

When I try to open the help files in Elements Photoshop 10, I get the following error message in a pop up box.  At the top, the box is labeled "Adobe AIR"  The message:  "Application descriptor could not be found for this application.  Try re-installing or contacting the publisher for assistance."
I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled both my Elements programs as well as adobe air, and have updated everything that I can think of and a few more things, and still get the same message.  Since I am one who often uses help files, I'd appreciate any help with this.

  • How can I open help file (HTML or .chm) from Java Web Start (new to JAVA)

    Hi All,
Im trying to open the help file of my application.
When trying to access the help file from the GUI (pressing F1 for launching the help file), I'm geting the an error, something like:
    "Can't show help URL: jar:file:C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\javaws\cache\http\Dlocalhost\P7001\DMwebstart\RMjar-name!/com/resources/helpFiles/MyHelpFile.html"
It seems that the file which is packed in a jar, was downloaded to the Java Web Start cache directory:
    C:\Documents and Settings\%USER%\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\javaws\cache\http\Dlocalhost\P7001\DMwebstart
The code which is activated when launching the help file is:
    try
                ResourceBundle resourceBundle = DoubleResourceBundle.getBundle("Resource", "ResourceImpl");
                RuntimeUtil.launchFile(new File(resourceBundle.getString("help.file")));
            } catch (IOException e)
                // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                e.printStackTrace();
}where the property "help.file" is in some property file in the resource bundle named "Resource", and looks like this :
    help.file="com/trax/docs/help/global/MyHelpFile.html"
The function "RuntimeUtil.launchFile" knows how to launch any file in its default application, and indeed it does launches the html, when giving it an absolute path to the file on my PC, as "C:\Helpfiles\MyHelpFile.html" as such:
    RuntimeUtil.launchFile("C:\Helpfiles\MyHelpFile.html");My question is :
The application is going to be deployed on a Customer PC. How can I access the html file from the code, with a relative path and not its absolute path on the customer pc, which I can't know?
I found these restrictions regarding web start:
    (copied from "http://rachel.sourceforge.net/"):
*Rule 1: Java Archives only. No loose files.* All your resources have to be packaged in Java Archives (jar) if you want to have
them delivered to the user's machine and kept up-to-date automatically by Java Web Start.
*Rule 2: No file paths.* You can't use absolute or relative file paths to locate your
jars holding your resources (e.g. <code>jar:file:///c:/java/jws/.cache/resources.jar</code>).
Absolute file paths won't work because you never know where Java Web Start
will put your jar on the user's machine. Relative file paths won't work because Java Web Start
mangles the names of your jars (e.g. <code>venus.jar</code> becomes <code>RMvenus.jar</code>)
and every JNLP client implementation has the right to mangle your names
in a different way and you, therefore, can't predict the name with
which your jar will be rechristend and end up on the user's machine in
the application cache.Seems complex or impossible, to perform a simple task like opening a file.
Please advise (I'm new to Java and Web Start).
BTW, I'm working with IntelliJ IDEA 5.0.
    Thanks,
    Zedik.

    Where is file share located??

Still no answer to this important question, nearly a year after it was posted? WHERE IS THE REMOTE BUTTON that we are supposed to pair Remote app on the iPhone with? Here's what the help file says in French :

  • How can I get help? Help files do not work.

    1. None of the links in my Help files from within the program go anywhere. I had to manually go online to the Adobe site to get to this spot to try to get help. I'm using Elements Organizer 10. I can bring up the Help browser with all the topic links, but clicking on them does nothing.
    2. The reason I was trying to access the Help files is that I cannot figure out how to see all the photos in a file instead of just the most recently imported photos. I am in Folder Location display mode. I tried to import all the photos in a particular file, but it imported only seven--said the rest had already been imported. But now it will only show me those seven just imported. I can go back to Thumbnail view, which gives me the View All button, but then I can't limit the view to just the photos in a particular file. I am so frustrated!
And since I don't really know how I got to this screen (thought I was submitting a question to Adobe Support) I don't know if I can even find my way back here to check for somebody's kind assistance!

    Thanks for your response.
I believe the problem is that there is no "Show All" button in the Folders
View.  I've gone back to Thumbnail View and selected "Show All,"  then
returned to the Folders View and clicked on the particular  folder, but it still
displays just those seven photos. If I click on another  folder I get all
of the photos in that folder, but click back on this  folder and I'm back to
just seven of 50+ items. Interestingly, I also tried  going to the Import
Batch view, and in that batch it shows only two  pictures!
By the way, I have shut down the program and restarted a couple of times.
I've also checked to make sure there are no album or keyword items checked
which  would limit the items shown.
I cannot afford to update to PSE11, because I just updated to 10 last
month!  I'm feeling very stupid at this point and about ready to  give up.
In a message dated 10/4/2012 1:53:17 P.M. Central Daylight Time,
    [email protected] writes:
The folder view in PSE9 and PSE10 is of limited interest; the new version
in PSE11 is better and safer in your case. I understand that all the files
in  the folder are visible in thumbnail view but the older ones are not
visible in  folder view, even with 'show all' selected ?

  • No local help files for Photoshop CS6 extended

    Hi
I wish to use local help files for Photoshop CS6 but only online support is available. Local files are not listed under the Adobe Help preferences. The option to search only local rather than online help is greyed out. I found and downloaded a PDF with of the help files but don't know where to install it or if this is possible. I have CS 5 Creative Suite and this works fine giving the option of local or online help when accessed.
Is there a way to install and use local help files in photoshop CS6?
    Thank you.

Hi and thanks for directing me to that article, it should have done the trick. I am using mac mountain lion 10.8.5.
The help system has always operated oddly - I have Photoshop cs6 but also the cs5 master suite installed. CS5 works fine but Photoshop cs6 only gives the option for online help and then directs me to the CC site. There is no simple listing for just Photoshop help in the help menu - presumably as it is not seeing it installed
I tried various configurations in the article, having to set up the folders they suggested. In my case, in a variety of alternative places as I have a boot up volume with the documents folder moved onto a RAID array so the Shared folder is not in the documents folder but in Users on the boot drive. So - confusing - but tried all the likely candidates and folder configurations/locations while following the instructions as closely as possible. Even tried an documents folder alias to redirect the program to the alternative path way.
At least now I have the PDFs and can look through them outside the adobe interface. The problem with the community site being questions regarding photoshop alone, yield answers for all sort of other issues and programs.
Thanks for your help though, which should have worked, appreciated.
