Help! Firefox is crashing all the time lately. I can't update to a newer version b/c my OS won't support it. Any ideas?

Almost always crashes when I hit home button from Yahoo Mail. Often crashes when in Google Docs, Yahoo Mail, or any of the sites I am working on.
I also can't update my OS (Max OSX 10.5.8)
This is causing me lots of lost work time... any help would be greatly appreciated.

you should upgrade your browser atleast Firefox 3.6.24

  • Firefox 9.0.1 crashes all the time, I just can't use it anymore. Would it be possible to propose the verion 8 for download ? Thanks

    Hi there,
Firefox has been updated on my computer on the 8th of Jan. 2012. It started crashing yesterday, until I almost could not open any site at all. It seems to crash when there are some videos. For example, I watch TV on Zattoo.com, when I go on this site, Firefox crashes all the time especially when I open other windows.
Now I would like to go back to the version 8, but I can not find this version for download. Where could I find it, or could you propose it on your web site ?
    Many thanks !

  • Safari crashes all the time and flash cannot be updated. virus or what?

hi guys! my safari keeps closing suddenly all the time. it's not "quit unexpectedly" with report kind of crash. it prompts no report whatsoever. when I relaunch it, it always opens in the same condition it left, with all the same tabs. and also it says flashplayer was not updated. but when I try to update from the adobe website it just wont work, wont start download whatsoever. I have tried uninstalling the older flashplayer but still it wont start download from the adobe website. now "missing plug-ins" is all over, on so many websites. I cant even open videos in youtube.
could this be a virus or what? does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks in advance guys, I appreciate it!

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • Firefox 4 crashes all the time in addition it does not save my tabs when it says it will restore them

So I am surfing the net or watching something online then all of a sudden firefox 4 crashes it says its suppose to restore my tabs but it never does. please i want this fixed it is so annoying in addition my tabs do not save any more like they used to. like when you hit exist it suppose to ask if you want to save well it dosen't. Yes I have gone to your support page and literally done everything it said to do but none of it worked. so please help me on that too if possible.

I've had it crash on me about 10 times today. This is ridiculous. I've used firefox for years and never had as many issues with it as I have had with the latest updates. It's really disgusting how bad it is. I stopped using shittysoft internet exploder because it was so bad, but I may go back to it. I won't keep using shittyfox if they can't get it to work smoothly. This is pathetic.

  • For the first time, Firefox is crashing all the time!

This just started very recently. I tried following all the fixes on your help pages that were concerned with this but only got confused & it didn't help. The only extensions I'm using are AdBlock, a security scan, the "pin it" button, & your "trouble shooter." I don't have a lot of plugins, and even fewer that are set at "always activate."
And, on my Task Manager, or so I'm told, everything looks pretty normal.
But I continue, again, just recently, run into the exact symptoms you delineate in your "too much CPU" page: pages saying (not responding) then seizing up completely, or the scroll bar stops working, and clicking on items has no effect.
I don't have anything new on this machine, and the problem keeps getting worse and worse, happening more and more often.
    Can you help?
    Thank you!

Thank you for posting your system details. An odd thing to find is two different Flash plugins, version 13 and version 15. I suggest completely disabling or removing the version 13 plugin, and changing version 15 from automatic activation to on demand activation to see whether that helps.
Open on the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Then look for Shockwave Flash. If you find two entries, one for version 13 and one for version 15:
    * version 13: "Never Activate"
    * version 15: "Ask to Activate"
If you only find an entry for version 15
    * "Ask to Activate"
This might not take effect until you launch a new Firefox window or exit and start Firefox up again.
To physically remove the old plugin, you can check the standard folder:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
The plugins used by Firefox have this file name pattern:
    '''NPSWF32_'''15_0_0_152'''.dll'''
If you find the one that has 13 in the version number, you can remove it (but don't delete the various other files used by IE and by Flash to maintain itself).
    Any difference?
This article has many other suggestions for troubleshooting issues caused by Flash if you discover that after activating Flash on a page where you want to use it, Firefox is seizing up: [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems]].

  • Flash player crashes all the time. How can I fix this?

This is driving me crazy!! This happens too many times where I will be on a website with Flash and Firefox will pop up this message saying that the Flash player script has crashed and if I want to keep it on or turn it off. Basically what is happening is the flash player is crashing and it happens way too many times. I've done everything! Updating the flash player, resetting Firefox...nothing is working. Yes, I do have the latest version of Firefox.

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
    Please report back soon.

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with Firefox: it crashes all the time.
Here's the two last crash reports:
    bp-172c899f-5e3f-49bd-a2c1-3058b2150411 11/04/2015 11:24

I really like firefox and I hope I won't have to move to another browser.
    Thank you in advance.

    The crash report shows;
    Signature msvcr120.dll
What were you doing at the time?
Please post the crash reports for the last 5 days.

  • Firefox Mobile 18a1 crashes all the time

I have been testing Nightly builds of Firefox Mobile for Android for some time now. Recently (after Ion landed), the browser crashes all the time. I can't even get into about:config or about:crashes long enough to get any useful information or try anything. Is there a way to put the browser in Safe Mode? Any other ideas?

    Hey,
Yes, this is known. We've got a couple bug reports on file and have been investigating it this week. See bugs: http://bugzil.la/791781, http://bugzil.la/792342, http://bugzil.la/790139.

  • Completely lost - Crash ALL the time

    Hi
I am completely lost and really need Dreamweaver to run
    without crashing all
    the time...
I have websites, some newer some made with Dreamweaver MX.
    Some pages can be
opened and some cannot without crashes???
I run on Windows Vista Ultimate, and also have Office 2007
    installed. Have
now uninstalled Groove, tried to run Dreamweaver in XP mode,
    but the crashes
    are stille there.
Has it to do with some pages are made in older version of
    Dreamweaver? I
never "imported" the sites on the new Vista PC, I simply
    copied all
    directories to the new PC...
    What do I do???
    Help REALLY needed urgently
    Helle

    Hej helle,
It sounds like it could be an extension problem since it's
    /page
related/ issue. try to disable all extension to see if that
    helps.
You could also try to close DW, delete the configurations
    folder and
restart DW to see if that helps. (on my XP system the folder
    is located
    here C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application
    Data\Adobe\Dreamweaver 9 )

  • Why does Adobe Elements 4.0 suddenly crash about the time Apple has a security update?

Why does Adobe Elements 4.0 suddenly start crashing about the time Apple has a security update?

An ADOBE FORUM "Community Professional" commented:
"Well, I'm not sure any of this is going to work, but go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist
The PSE 4 Paths and Settings folders (can't remember whether they're called Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 Paths or something different, but you want folders with Paths and Elements 4 in their names--you should be able to figure out which they are)
Opera preferences (if you have it)
    Repair permissions and try again.
If it still quits, go to the PSE 4 folder in applications and delete the Adobe TWAIN driver from the plug-ins folder (note that you may have trouble with Epson scanners in PSE after doing this).
However, PSE 4 is pretty darned old and it's less compatible with every new OS X update, so what I've suggested may work and may not. FWIW, you probably will not be able to reinstall the program if you ever need to do so--installed versions of PSE 4 keep working in 10.6, but the installer does not."
    Hope this helps
