Help, Firefox won't let me surf the net on my Windows program. Says I have viruses - Help!!!

Help me. Right now I'm on my "Ubuntu" program on this computer. IT also has Windows. A few minutes ago, on the Windows program, which I also use Firefox on, I got boxes popping up saying I am infected with viruses - dangerous- blah blah blah. I tried to go to www.avast.com to download their free anti virus protection. Firefox won't even let me search the web to get to avast. It keeps saying I'm in danger and is trying to get me to order a $79.95 version of Win anti virus. help me. Suzanne

My Firefox won't let me browse the Internet, even though I'm connected to the Internet.

Excuse me, but my Firefox 3.6 just randomly stopped working. It won't let me browse the Internet anymore-- the error message it always gives me is "Unable to connect", even though I'm fully connected to the Internet. Make sure you are not set to Work Offline in File menu.
There is a possibility that your connection dropped even briefly, more so if using wireless. Make sure Firefox is not set to "[v] Work Offline" in File menu just above Exit.

Firefox won't let me use the shift key

Hi
Basically when I try and use the shift key I keep getting this bar come up on the bottom of my screen and begins typing my text in there. Even when I close the bar and press the shift key again it still appears; I'm not sure how I can stop it from happening or how to disable it. It's getting frustrating not being able to type properly- I have to use the caps lock key for capitals.
Can someone please help me out?

hello Sab01, your screenshot shows the firefox developer toolbar which can be brought up with the keyboard shortcut shift+f2. so this is just a guess, but maybe your keyboard's f2 key is hanging...
in case you cannot solve it that way, please enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''devtools.toolbar.enabled''' - double-click the entry and toggle its value to '''false'''. this will generally disable the developer toolbar after you restart the browser.

FIrefox won't let me save the same website to multiple bookmark files

I am using Firefox 19.0 on a MacBook Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2
I tried to bookmark a website in multiple folders. For example, this website had information about gardening, cleaning and beauty. I bookmarked it first in my gardening folder, then I changed the name of the bookmark and tried to save the site to my cleaning folder. I changed the name again and tried to save the site to my beauty folder. When I went back to check if it had worked, the site was not bookmarked in the gardening and cleaning folders, but was bookmarked in the beauty folder. I don't understand why I can't bookmark the same page in multiple folders. I may not think to look in the Beauty folder for information on gardening.

This has come up a few times before. Not sure whether all these old tricks work in the latest Firefox, but please take a look.

The new version of Firefox won't let me access the internet. How do I fix that? I hate Internet Explorer!

On Saturday, 5/10/14, I was using Firefox at work with zero issues. I attended to work briefly, and when I looked back I saw the status bar saying my "add-ons" were being checked. Ever since then, Firefox WILL NOT connect to the internet, and I am forced to use Internet Explorer, and THAT jams more than I am willing to tolerate. I have no idea what actually was done, from a technical perspective. I tried system restore, and even found the link with the older versions of Firefox on it, but its all code, and way above what I know how to do with computers.

This is not a reply. I just want to elaborate on this problem.
My computer freezes occasionally when it is used after being sleep for a while. The spinning ball appears and everything is totally disabled. Nothing on the keyboard works.
The mouse moves, but does not work.
The only solution is to turn the power off and on (losing all data in open applications.)
I kept the System monitor running on the side to find out which program was running when the computer froze. The Monitor as well as all other applications froze, but the data showed:
Firefox 18.4%
Activity Monitor 0.9%
Firefox Plugin 0.2%
This is all the information I have. By the way, I am using iMac with OS 10.6.

Have you had a charge returned on your card? Usually if the charge is returned to apple they will suspend your app store access until you pay the outstanding bill.

the setting for acsessing the internet have changed from no proxy to manual proxy confuration, firefox won't let me change the setting. I've gone to firewall and changed the permissions but it didn't fix problem. I can acsess internet through internet explorer. What do I do??

Keep getting a prompt to install java even when not surfing the net. I have java installed and the control panel says it is right version. Want to know how to stop prompts. This started after I installed Yosemite.

Most likely, you have either the Facebook video calling plugin or the "NexDef" plugin for watching baseball streams. Both depend on the Java runtime distributed by Apple. If you no longer need the plugin, remove it. Otherwise, install Java.

I try to get on Firefox but it has a bookmark called Untitled and then won't let me on the internet

I had Mozilla Firefox for my internet site. It now pops up with an "Untitled" bookmark and won't let me on the internet at all, even though the main window appears OK. I have tried resetting the whole site and it doesn't help at all. It still comes up this way after I reopen another Mozilla Firefox site. How do I get rid of this bookmark so I can go on the internet again?

When I download Firefox, it won't let me change the path and so tries to download on a public computer, which isn't allowed. From another computer, go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/, click "Free download" button, click "Save File" button, select your flash drive in "Save as" window. "Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe" file will be saved in your flash drive.
You just need to insert it in your new computer and double-click on "Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe" from Windows Explorer and follow instructions.

Quit Safari completely, clear Safari and reboot the iPad.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")
