Help fixing multiple application folders
I have an applications folder in the root directory of my hard drive and one in my user directory. It's not an alias.
The one in my user directory hasn't been modified since july 29. Many of the files are the same. The folders are 31gb and 33gb so I would love to merge these and free up space. For example, I have two address books and I can't delete or move either of them.
I tried repairing permissions and my disk, but although it did find problems, it didn't change anything.
I'm pretty sure this happened after I upgraded to lion, although it took me some time to notice.
Help please.
The one in your user's home folder should be empty, unless you have multiple users on the machine and chose to not allow use by all users when you installed them. If this is a single-user machine, you should be able to move your user's /Applications folder content to the trash and delete them.

What's the difference between the multiple application folders?
So its not really a huge issue, but I noticed the other day that there are two different Applications folders. There's the one that is on the sidebar when you open finder, and then there is one when you are under your user. What is the difference between the two? I was under the impression that they were the same, but the Applications folder on the sidebar has all my applications in it while the one under my user has none. Can someone explain this?
The one under your home folder is for apps that installed only for your user. Other users of the computer don't have those apps available.
The other one is system wide. All users have the app available.

Multiple Applications failing to launch in Mac OSX Mavericks
Hi there,
I recently updated my Mac Pro to Mac OSX Mavericks (OS X 10.9.2), and since that time, I have experienced multiple applications in my Adobe CC Subscription failing to launch. As a first step, I attempted to uninstall the applications so that I could reinstall them and see if that fixed the problem. However, when I go to uninstall the applications, I get the same message (crash report) that I get when I attempt to launch them, so I'm unable to uninstall the applications.
I'm not sure what the protocal is, or where I can send the crash reports to get a better idea of what is going wrong. Below I've listed a series of applications that are failing to launch, then the applications that are launching and running perfectly fine, along with some information about the computer I'm running on to see if the hardware might be out-of-date and adding to the problem.

We are testing the following setup:
Weblogic 6.0 SP1 running on Solaris 8 (SUN, ip: 192.168.0.1)
Apache 1.3.12 running on Linux (ip: 192.168.0.2)
We have two applications setup on weblogic in the following
directories:
$WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications/app1 and
$WL_HOME/config/mydomain/applications/app2
The idea is to set up virtual hosts on the apache server and
depending on the url, redirect the client to a specific
application. So for the application app1 we have the following
setup in httpd.conf:

This seems to work fine, e.g. if the client requests a page
http://app1.url.com/index.jsp this gets correctly passed to
weblogic as http://192.168.0.1:7001/app1/index.jsp.
BUT when a jsp page does a response.sendRedirect
(redirectpage.jsp), weblogic tells the client to redirect to
http://app1.url.com/app1/redirectpage.jsp. *Apache* immediately
comes back with an error 404. Is there a way of stripping
the /app1 path from the redirect page that gets sent
to the client?
OR is there a better way of hosting multiple applications on a
server?
This is only a problem when we use sendRedirect.

Problem with multiple applications using one audio output
Hey there, I'm having issues setting up my 5.1 headset seen here (http://www.sharkoon.com/?q=en/content/x-tatic-digital) to work with multiple applications.
Right now I have audio streaming from a flash video, when I try run "$ speaker-test -c 6" I get the following error:
speaker-test 1.0.25
Playback device is default
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 6 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1018:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy
If I try open another application which uses this device, the first application has its sound cut off.
2 more things to note:
- My preference for setup would be audio output through S/PDIF and input through USB, with the USB output disabled (To not waste system resources).
- I unmuted all channels in ALSA, however when I ran the test only 2 channels seemed to be working (Front L&R), it may have been defaulting to the USB connection, in which case, that explains only 2 channels being in use, is there a method of setting the S/PDIF as default system wide?

Flash only works when other audio is active, however it has constant popping sound. I went through the system logs to get the errors of when flash crashes, it's audio crashing it, here's the error:

Multiple Application Domain Error with Preloader

I'm attempting to upgrade to Air 3.6. My app runs as a swf on the web and also meant to be packaged as a "slow" build (not interpreter) for iOS since I need the performance of Starling. Since it's a fat app, so thus it has a preloader for the web, which works perfectly. However when I try to start the app in ios-debug on my iPad, I get:

ZSOk so I got the swf to load by changing the code above to the following:

Uncompiled ActionScript
Your application is attempting to run uncompiled ActionScript, probably due to the use of an embedded SWF. This is unsupposed on iOS. See the Adobe Developer Connection website for more info.
And yes I am using Adobe Air SDK 3.6, and building with -swf-version=19, at least on the main swf. The other swf was made with an fla with Flash Pro.
Any help people? Why is this still not working? I thought it was fixed in 3.6. I must be missing something.

No sound in multiple applications with 5.1 upmix

I already did some research about my problem but I did not find a solution for my problem yet. I configured my .asoundrc so that I have a permanent upmix from 2.0 to 5.1. But with the current configuration I cannot have multiple applications play sound at the same time.

With this configuration Exaile gives an error on playback "Cannot open device for playback". VLC plays just stereo...
What I want to have is this:
Stereo should be upmixed to 5.1. But signals that already are 5.1 should not be changed. With pulseaudio on Ubuntu this was easy to do but I don't want to have pulseaudio at the moment. I had some trouble with it.
I tried some .asoundrc from this thread but they did not work.

VLC shows the same error and Exaile says "konfigured audiosink 'bin1' does not work". But in .asoundrc there is no "bin1"...

I noticed that nano messed the line breaks up. So longer comments started in a new line and were not commented of course. I fixed that. Now the output is:

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro. I used migration assistant to transfer my files/applications over from my old MacBook Pro and everything seems to be there except there are two things I can't figure out...
1. On my "Downloads" stack, the last thing I downloaded (a picture) isn't on my new Mac, but every other download is. At first, the new Mac was set to sort by date added and only showed very old downloads. I then set it to date created and that fixed eveything except for the one item that's missing. NOTE: My old Mac is set to sort by date added, so why isn't everything showing properly on my new Mac?
2. My Microsoft Office 2008 folder on the dock looks like a normal folder (blue) instead of the customized yellow one like on my old Mac. The same goes for my other applications folders such as Photoshop, InDesign, etc. They all have the generic blue folder instead of the folder that is specific to them.

Having the exact same issue. Also, on right click, many apps freeze/beachball and must force close. Additionally, uTorrent and Transmission are not operating correctly-uTorrent constantly beachballing and unresponsive. Right-click freezes with everything from Word to iMovie. Takes way too much time to do anything, and lots of cursor freezing, here is a sys log excerpt:

disk2s1 (disk2s1) <not mounted>: 209.7 MBI'm having the same issue - started a few months ago and had to forcibly shut down the Mac. That killed the hard drive, so I got a new hard drive and had the Apple Store install Lion on it, then used Migration Assistant to bring files over. Since then I've upgraded to Mountain Lion and have been experiencing lots of beach balls, freezes, etc. They're so bad that I've had to forcibly shut down 3 times, and each time can't restart. Each time I've erased and done a clean install of Mountain Lion from a USB, then used migration assistant and time machine to bring files back. One search help for multiple select-options in webdynpro abap
Hi,
I need a way to use one search help for multiple select-options fields. My scenario is :
I have a table for keeping different organizational units' values of different systems. I have pasted some sample data from this table at the end of this mail. On the screen I want to have 1 select-options filed for werks, and 1 select-options filed for vkorg. (In fact I will have more org. unit fields...) In the beginning of my application the user will select sid.
If the user selects ADS as SID, when he opens search-help for the first org. unit (werks), he will see the records with SID: ADS, VARBL = $WERKS, LANGU = SY-LANGU.
If the user selects AGT as SID, when he opens search-help for the second org. unit (vkorg), he will see the records with SID: AGT, VARBL = $VKORG, LANGU = SY-LANGU.
I have created a search-help taking SIDD, VARBL and LANGU as import parameters; used field mapping and bound this search help to my table. I have created 2 context nodes : org1 and org2 having attributes SID, VARBL, VALUE, LANGU .
I have assigned related SID, VARBL and Langu values to these attributes at runtime as I needed. That way, if I use input field and reference to the related context attributes org1-value and org2-value2 accordingly, search help works well as I want.
However, when I use select-options field , I can not bind the field to the context data. I can give reference only to ddic structure. Is there any way to reference to a context attribute? I searched for this in SDN, but could find nothing.
I think I won't be able to use this way. What do you say?
As I read from forums maybe using OVS help will be suitable for me. But I have to use one search-help for all select-options fields. Do you know how I can determine the active select-options field and pass its name (for instance "werks" ) as parameter to this OVS search help. (Also I'll pass SID and LANGU.)

Am I right ?
If Yes, then in the interface IF_WD_SELECT_OPTIONS
method ADD_SELECTION_FIELD, ADD_PARAMETER_FIELD etc
have importing param like I_VALUE_HELP_TYPE and I_VALUE_HELP_ID, I_VALUE_HELP_MODE, I_VALUE_HELP_STRUCTURE
etc which may help you to link your create DDIC Search help to selection screen params.
this is just a clue from my side. I haven't tried it myself.
You can go to the where used list of this method and find some sample implementations which use these params.

How do you import prior Backed-Up Fox Favorities. This involved many short-cuts and contained in multiple sub-folders.
How can I import the whole folder library rather than one short-cut at a time from each folder.The favorites shortcuts were not IE but from Firefox. I had a operating system failure. So, after re-installing the operating system, I then had to re-install all applications anew.
After installing Fox 6.0, the problem is my prior use of folders and sub-folders with many favorites shortcuts in each.
It appears that I will need to start anew with creating a folder system in the new firefox application. Then take all of the favorites shortcuts, individually, out of folders and put them in a file in a row, in an antilog fashion. Then try to get Firefox to accept them in some fashion.
I also do not know how to (1) export IE Favorites (2) in IE (3) to an HTML?
I am just lost.

Multiple application pools for ColdFusion possible in the same IIS website?
I would like to set up a single website with CFM11 under IIS8.5
In this website there are several CFM applications, each under a different "Application" subfolder. For security purposes, monitoring and separate maintenance shutdowns per application, these would all need their own "application pool".
However, this means that these applications should run under a different application pool than their website root node. In IIS this causes a 403.18 exception:
HTTP Error 403.18 - Forbidden
The specified request cannot be processed in the application pool that is configured for this resource on the Web server.
Most likely causes:
•An ISAPI filter or custom module changed the URL to run in a different application pool than the original URL.
•An ISAPI extension (or custom module) used ExecuteURL (or ExecuteRequest) to run in a different application pool than the original URL.
•You have a custom error page that is located in one application pool but is referenced by a Web site in another application pool. When the URL is processed, it is determined by IIS that that it should have been processed in the first application pool, not the other pool.
•The Web site has multiple applications configured. The application this request is configured to run in is set to run in an application pool that does not exist.
All works fine if the "applications" in the subfolders run under the same application pool as the website root. However that is not my preferred setup... The behaviour is consistent over all CFM-applications that I deploy, no matter how simple they are...
Two questions:
- is coldfusion actually looking to "higher" folders than I expect it to? (and can that be avoided)
- any hints or experiences on how to avoid / solve this issue?Here are the steps you need to follow:
When you create connector for your ColdFusion 11 website, you get the “Jakarta” as virtual directory added under your website in IIS. If you don't then add 'jakarta' as virtual directory in your website.
You need to right click on “Jakarta” folder and click on “Convert to Application”.
Select the new Application Pool of the Application (say Test) added under website (CF 11)
Click OK. Restart IIS.
NOTE : You need not to restart IIS as well however if you still face the issue after following the above steps then try to restart IIS.

Upgrading multiple applications/clusters from 10.3.5 10.3.6
I am looking for any recommendations/best practices for upgrading a weblogic domain installation which has multiple applications with each application deployed to a cluster. Each application has its own customized startup scripts for starting up the managed servers and it is expected that each application will take time to be upgraded. Therefore the plan is to upgrade each application in a separate maintenance window and the system will be put into production after each maintenance window. As per the weblogic documentation it is ok to have managed servers running on different maintenace releases as long as they are on the same major and minor release (10.3.5 and 10.3.6 in this case). I have already reviewed the upgrade guide http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e13754/toc.htm. Any additional information would help.

I assumed that 10 was the major and 3 was the minor release number and that the .5 and .6 was the Maintenance pack level - is that not the case? ..Luc
