HELP:: Flash unable to open BAT file or PPT file

HELP Please....
I am using Flash MX.. my projector exe file doesnt seem to
open/call
"myppt.bat" file which calls a powerpoint (PPS) file after
the animation is
over. The bat file runs well when
self executed but not from flash...
I also installed the trial version of Flash 8 and seem to be
having the same
above problem.
please help by providing a working solution.

You may first want to look into Safari's "Installed Plugins" section within the browser. This is (usually) found under the Safari Help header in the top of a browser. I say usually, because I don't use Safari often and mine is an older version. They handle applications and plugins like most others, to a point.
I see in Safari Installed Plugins that mine would use

(in Safari 5.x, where I looked into this)
While I use FireFox, SeaMonkey (Mozilla) and others, where I can choose in preferences the helper applications to open from the browser, Safari has different methods; so if you can change this in the preferences or settings of Safari in a later version I am not certain.
You could see what the defaults are by using Safari help menu to open the Installed plugins, and maybe find out what happend to Adobe reader plugin. Could be it was 'sandboxed' in a later OS X and needs to be installed differently to be accepted as safe.
It is easier to set how a file type is handled once it is inside the computer and not held in the browser; by file type in general or specific to each single document. I do both, and seldom let an a browser do these things due to security considerations. I download and open them, only then if I feel they are safe.

Can you actually see that the attachment has a .jpg extension? Some mail systems strip it off (I've seen AOL do that) which makes the attachment difficult to open.

UNABLE TO OPEN FCP 6.02 PROJECT FILES AFTER INSTALLING LEOPARD!

**Unable to open FCP 6.02 project files after installing Leopard**. Tested and found that the files can be opened on another computer with OS 10.4.10, but not OS 10.5. Spoke to apple support many times, and have tried reinstalling FCP, but it didn't work.
Apple is now saying to erase my HD and reinstall from scratch. This presents a problem since i have software installed but no disc due to a move, (they are deep in offsite storage).
Anyone have this problem? Anyone know a fix?

There is a section in the manual on the migration tool... I don't have my machine fired up right now so can't direct you to the exact page. I think a search for migration or migrate should do it.
Two other things to try:
1. There have been numerous reports that Quicktime 7.3 is what is killing older projects. According to one of the third party program makers Apple re-wrote Quicktime changing the null value to Zero from minus-one. I'm not a code junkie so can't vouch for this but the upshot would be, go back to Quicktime 7.1 or 7.2 not 7.3
2. There is a Quicktime plugin called "Perian". For lots of people it has caused numerous problems.
Look for Perian on your machine and if you find it, drag the app to the trash... re boot and try again.
Of course the ultimate solution would be to reinstall Tiger, Final Cut Studio 2 and Quicktime 7.2. So far the most stable combined setup for me and lots of others on G5 machines.

Can someone help? I am unable to open MS Word 2011 .docx files after installing LION OS.

I recently had a hard drive failure on my iMac. A new 1TB hard drive was installed along with OS X 10.6.8. Since restoring files from Time Machine, I am unable to open .docx files using MS Word 2011. I receive a 'convert file' dialog box. I can open .doc files that were restored from Time Machine and any new files in .docx format. I cannot open any .docx files restored from Time Machine. Has anyone else ran into this problem and do you have a workaround or solution?

I am unable to open Net 8 Easy Config. When I try to open the Net 8 Easy Config, the program hangs. My OS is Win 2k Pro. I am running a P4 chip at 1.5 Ghz. I am trying to open Net 8 Easy Config to create a service name to connect Oracle forms 6i, second release with Oracle 9i Database. Any help will be appreciated!

I think the Java Runtime Environment is conflicting ...... you can create the service name by editing the tnsnames.ora file also. To do this go to the ORACLE_HOME of D2K and go to net80 and admin and then open tnsnames.ora and edit this file at the end add this ...

Need help with 'unable to open executable ... ' error

After I compile I get this error. Here is the entire error msg:

I've spent most of the day doing a lot of investigation. Results of that are:
With regard to Xcode4:
What would not run properly yesterday, did run fine today.
Background: I have used DU to Repair Perms twice today. I have always seen lots of references to Java and frameworks in the DU log while doing this. Whether there is a correlation or not to my problems, I do not know.
With regard to Xcode v325:
I can now run apps that had previous compile errors with no problems and so on.
Then a few hours ago, I was running Xcode4 and doing fine until I tried to again run the app on the iP4 and it refused to run. It all of a sudden developed the Info.plist problem again.
I switched back to Xcode 325 and it ran fine. I'm not ready to really point ALL of the blame on Xcode 4, because Apple doc's state clearly that user's can switch back and forth between versions without problems. I'm not so sure. I am not switching back and forth because I think it's a fun thing to do, I'm doing it because I have no other choice.
As to the red fonted files - from my experience, that means either the file is nowhere to be found or it has not been built, which I think was my original problem. I have no idea how to correct that. Earlier today I had a sit where the app actually ran on the sim even though the executable was in red font. I have no idea how that works either.
At the moment, I'm using Xcode v325 and doing OK. I may download the latest Xcode 4 upgrade tonight. Not sure yet.

Unable to open the document when combining files.

We have a user that gets an error when combining files. It says
Unable to open the document:
<Filename and path>
Please check to see if you have read permission for the above file.
Retry and cancel buttons.
We get this error on every subsequent file, it works on the first one after the computer starts.
This computer has Windows Vista Business with SP2, Adobe Acrobat X with the latest patches.
It doesn't matter if the files are local or on a network drive, the same always occurs. I have cleared
all user and system temporary files, re-installed, verified the Acrobat Add-In for Word 2010 is active,
verifed the PDF printer is working fine. It only happens when trying to combine files. I have given the
user local administrator privilidges, tried with my account that has domain admin priviledges, no luck.
I really need some suggestions...

I have found out from Adobe technical support that this is a known issue with Office 2010 SP1 installed.
This is an FYI for anyone else experiencing this issue, remove SP1 and it will work ok.
They said an update to correct this issue will be coming within the next quarter.

I have scanned photos and negatives using Kaiser Baas Photo & Negative scanner. I am unable to open the jpeg files produced using Photoshop Elements 6, any advice on how to?

I don't seem to have any trouble opening the file in pse 6 on windows xp.
I'd reset the pse 6 editor preferences and see if that makes a difference.
Press and hold Shift+Ctrl+Alt just after starting the launch of the pse 6 editor
Keeping holding down the keys until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the photoshop elements settings file
Press Yes in that dialog

Unable to open Canon 7D CR2 raw files in Photoshop CS6

Hi Folks,
I have been trying to open Canon 7D CR2 raw files in Photoshop CS6 (Extended) (Windows 8.1) but I'm always getting the error "Could not complete your request because the file format module cannot parse your file".
I installed the Camera Raw plugin ver 8.8.0.397 today. Did this initially by downloading and running the CameraRaw_8_8.zip available here Camera Raw plug-in installer. Still got the error.
Went and did the Check Updates in Photoshop and updated the Camera Raw (and other components) but STILL cannot open the CR2 files.
I can see the thumbnails in Bridge but when I double click to open them in Photoshop, same error.
Cannot seem to get past the "Could not complete your request..." error.
Any ideas?

What is the current version of Camera Raw Plugin installed on machine?
it should be 5.2 and later because Canon 5D Mark II start supported since relase of Camera Raw 5.2.

Unable to Open Bookmarks to Local Text Files in External Editor

In MSIE, it's absolutely no problem to create bookmarks to open local text files in an external editor.
In Firefox, bookmarked local text files are opened in an internal browser window – and unbelievable enough, there seems to be no way to change this behavior :(
Does anyone have an idea how I can manage to bookmark local files with Firefox in a way so that these files are opened in external applications?
Editing the MIME type handling didn't succeed so far, as the handling of internal MIME types (text/html, text/css, text/plain etc.) unfortunatly overrides any configuration similar to the handling of external MIME types (image/jpg, video/avi etc.) = editing the mimeTypes.rdf or the like doesn't come to any effect.

Since Firefox didn't seem to make any difference between local files and server files (as opposed to MSIE, which does) I saw the only chance to alter the unwanted behavior in changing the MIME type handling – but however, this didn't succeed even for server files, since the handling of internal MIME types like text/plain apparently can't be changed anyway ... which we do not have to understand :|
I already edited the values view_source.editor.external and view_source.editor.path ... unfortunately this only has effect on viewing source code (e.g. by Ctrl+U), but not on the loading of txt-files; neither locally (file:///) nor remote (http://).
If this could be influenced in the same way as source code viewing, that would be the solution.

Try to open a possible corrupted PPT file

Does Microsoft have any tool to repair a corrupted PPT file? Do I have to use the 3rd party recover tool to fix the problem?
I tried to insert a slide from PPT file but did not find that option available when I attempted to open the corrupted PPT file.

Which Office version did you use? Is it a password-protected file? Was the file sent to you as an e-mail attachment?
If your file is truly corrupt, there are a number of things you can try to recover it.
Use Slides from Files on the Insert menu.
Locate a TMP file.
Open the presentation in Microsoft Office Word.
Move the file to a different place.
Open the file in a different way.
Use Safe Mode.
Use Damaged Presentations Troubleshooters.
Try a third-party recovery tool.

Keynote 2.02 cannot open PowerPoint .pps or ppt file.

Hi, using keynote 2.0.2 I tried to open a PowerPoint file that originally had the .pps filename. This file was downloaded from an education site that stated that the latest edition of PowerPoint was needed to view this file. My version of PowerPoint is 2004 for Mac and I am unable to open it using my PP version, so the originating file must have been made using a later version.
I changed the filename to .ppt and tried to open it from within Keynote, but wasn't able to. Is there a solution to this dilemma?

I wrote that both links refer to the same file. That's wrong as a second try showed. The file downloaded from the first link cannot be opend after renaming neither with Powerpoint nor with Keynote.
The file from the second link can be opened after renaming. However, there are some problems opening the file in Keynote. Keynote complains
* rotated or flipped title and body placeholders are not supported. Placeholders were imported without being rotated or flipped.
* re-ordered animations on an object are not supported. Animations were imported sequentially.
* some fonts are missing
So, the file will definitely look different to the original file.
