Help Flashing Bios on M57 9174-Y1A please

Hi. I recently upgraded my motherboard and recieve the error:
ERROR 0167 No processor BIOS update found.
I can eventually boot into windows 7 off my old hardrive if I leave it. I would like to fix this problem and not reinstall if possible though.
My CPU is Intel Duo Core [email protected] GHz 775 Socket
My Bios is: 2RKT57AUS        Date: 28/11/2008
The Motherboard is Lenovo Thinkcentre M57 45R312
System Model: 9174Y1A
I looked at flashing the BIOS although I couldn't find one for M57 9174-Y1A
It won't boot from CD either, and there doesn't seem to be an option to.
Help appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Sorry yeah missed a number on the FRU it's: M57 45R5312,
The motherboard was bought used off Ebay so I put in my old Tower.
I used my old processor which is compatible,
I tried flashing the Bios and it said it was successful.
Now on boot I get these errors:
0162 Configuration Error - Default Configuration Used
0199: System Security – Security password retry count exceeded
0197 Unauthorized CMOS Change
I've tried clearing CMOS with the jumpers, Replacing with a new battery, Restoring the Bios to default settings etc.
None of these seem to stop these errors.
Any help appreciated
Thanks.

  • Help: flashing BIOS

Hello to u all again! :-)
I've finally understand that my 875P Neo need a BIos upgrade. In fact, from the Bios Release History from MSI seems that older versions of 875P's Bios were afflicted by errors in monitoring temperature sensors.
This seems to be a problem not only for me, but also for many others 875P Neo's owners.
    The problem, now:
I've got an ATA133 Hard disk, connected to the ATA133 connector. I realized that ATA133 is competence of the RAID/S-ATA controller on board, and that's the problem.
In order to assure a secure flash operation, I should start from a boot floppy disk, and then look on the Hard Disk to find the flash utility and the bios file.
MSI recommends not to flash directly from floppy, and that's the main prob.
    Here I sum up the problems related with the bios upgrade;
    - I cannot create a boot disk, using Windows 2000 Professional (NTFS). ;(
    - I used another boot disk (I presume it was made with Win98SE), but then I cannot see my hard disk, I don't know why, maybe because it is a NTFS partition, but most probably because without any RAID driver, the boot disk cannot see the presence of the HD. 8o
How should I flash in security my bios? Please help me!  :D
    Thanks a lot boyz!
    Matteo

First of all, thanks for your attention.

No you cannot see NTFS from DOS.  Either way that is not relevant since even if it was FAT you would likely not see the drive on the IDE3 as it requires promise drivers to even see the volume regardless of the volume\'s file table format.
    As I supposed...  X(

Another option, if you have Nero Burning ROM is to make a bootable Cd-ROM with the BIOS files on it.  When it asks for boot files, use your boot floppy in A:\\ drive to allow Nero to make the disk bootable.  then you can add files to the boot CD-ROM too!
Yes, this is another very easy solution too!
But, in order to do this dangerous operation in safety, i'd like to take a backup of the current (1.20) version of my Bios.
If I use a cd i can't backup bios current version. Or not?!?
    Quote
I use a boot CD-ROM and a CF flash card (USB Legacy must be set to ALL DEVICES in the BIOS) that has ALL bios versions on it, so I can choose what version I want when I want.
That's a very nice solution... But can you access to the Compactflash reader with the only Boot Cd?
I think that I'll use the method described in the MSI page about non FAT systems, using a boot disk and ramdrive.
Seems to be the safest solution.
    Thanks again!

  • BIOS doesnt recognize SATA connected Hard Drive- need help flashing bios from bootable USB

    hi
I have an envy laptop running InsydeH20 bios rev f14.
the bios doesn't recognize the internally connected hdd/ssd.
I have heard that with insyde bios', sometimes you have to unlock 'secret capabilities' to recognize hardware incl internal hdd.
but I am just trying to reflash my bios.
the problem is that I cant get into windows because it doesn't recognize my hard drive and windows doesn't allow insallation to usb connected drives.
I downloaded the patch from hp.com for my product and it actually has an option for making a bootable USB for use on the actual system, and I did this. the instructions are to just restart my computer with the bootable usb. I have tried Legacy support on and off, neither updates bios.
I highly doubt it has anything to do with the physical sata connector.
basically I need to flash my bios from bootable usb. I have done some research about making a bootable dos usb etc etc but I don't know what program to even run and how..
this is a link to my product:

on my other comp I ran the bios update patch and chose ' install to bootable usb ' so that I could use it on my system.
cannot run on my laptop. tried booting from the media. tried allowing 'legacy' compatibility.
im running insydeH2O rev f14 right now.

  • Bios Password in A305..Please help..URGENT!!!!

Hi...please help guys..i have a problem with my friends laptop..he accidentally change the bios passwod and forgot it what he put on it..the model is Satellite A305-s6905..i already open it and look for some jumper setting to reset it..but no success..i cant find a word like CMOS clear or CMOS reset..i already download the flash bios on this site so that the bios will reset but..the problem is ,it wont boot first on the DVDROM because you must enter first the password...please please help me...i want to show it on a accredited toshiba repair center but their are asking for the orignal reciept and that reciept is already gone 1 year ago...i wish you could help me guys...our thesis is almost near and we cant finish the thesis because its inside that laptop...

There are thousands of laptops that get stolen annually. To make sure that it is not a stolen laptop, the Toshiba service places demand that you show some documentation proving its yours. One way to do that is to register your computer. In that way you can prove your ownership without having the reciept. The Toshiba techs can access the Registered Computer database and verify that the person at the counter is the legitimate owner even without a receipt.
Did you use a credit card? Maybe the credit card company would have the invoice for your computer, along with the serial number of the computer. Or what about the dealer that sold the computer? Maybe they have a record of the sale, along with the serial nrumber of the computer.
Just think if your computer had been stolen. You wouldn't want a Toshiba tech to remove the Bios password on your computer just because the thief had "forgotten" the password?

  • Help flashing UEFI bios for my GTX 680 Twin Frozr III 2GD5/OC

    Hi,
I am very new to flashing graphics card bios, so i need some instructions as to how to update my bios to the latest UEFI GOP version. I am using a Z77 platform with Windows 8 Pro and I'm looking forward to the super fast boot times
Here is my current bios file: **http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/434943/GK104.rom**
Here is my serial number: 602-V282-020B1205147435
My model: MSI GTX 680 Twin Frozr III 2GD5/OC
    Thank you

I have followed the steps you said, but had a few hiccups on the way:
    1) when i was flashing the rom, i was told in the command line dialog box that the pci vendor identification/verification was mismatched, i was prompted to override verification and i pressed "y". Is that ok ? In total, i had to press "y" 2 times as opposed to once as said in your instructions.
    2) After flashing bios, I restarted and disabled CSM (compatibility mode) support. My PC booted fine and i reached the lock screen. But when i entered the password, I was introduced to a black screen with only the cursor showing over it. Then my pc crashed with the error IRQ_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL_TO
    3) I restarted and logged back again, but was introduced to the same black screen again, but i could gain access to the control panel with CLT+ALT+DEL and it was filled with error reporting tasks. I restarted the third time and finally could log back in without any crashes or black screens, but windows came up with a prompt that it had run into an error and needs to report it.
I am suspecting that it had something to do with the driver or the verification.
    PLEASE HELP. Thanks

  • What we need - a guide on how to flash bios, setup bios, and raid

Ok, a topic I see very often on many forums, and several times here, is the following; How to flash bios, how to setup the bios settings, and how to setup the raid array, and then setup the bios to boot from the raid array. Could we perhaps pull our heads togheter and write a detailed guide on these three topics, taking into account how to do it on the most used (commonly written about) MSI boards? and perhaps put as a sticky?
It would help many novice users trying to deal with these problems. I am willing to write on the subject of flashing bios on the MSI K8N SLI Platinum and how to install a Bios Saviour.

    hi john12,
Just to verify, is your machine type included in the list below? If not, this is most likely the reason why the BIOS update won't continue.
    Flash BIOS update - 3000 J100 (type 8252, 8253, 8254, 8453, 8454, 8455)
You can find the MTM (Machine Tpe Model) printed on the tower or by typing dxdiag on a command prompt / run dialog box.
