Help - flashing do not disconnect and unable to dowload video

Hi - when I go into the options to set my music download etc, the page for video is grey and will not allow me to select automatic updates. When I drag the video over it says it has been unable to install it.
It now also keeps flashing the 'do not disconnet screen'
I am technophobic so really need help. My hubby bought this for my christmas as I love music but I am lost - it is the 60 GB version so there is loads of room.
I have tried restore both with the new update and pressing menu and select - no success. using Windows XP with service pack 2.

If Enable Disk Use is checked, it allows you to use the iPod as a removable drive.
As an example, you could put files from work or school on the iPod and take them home to work on.
It doesn’t affect it one way if it is enabled/not enabled, except for the fact you won’t be able to add/remove additional files on it.

  • Continously flashing "Do Not Disconnect"

Many times that I try to connect my iPod, the computer will not recognize that it is connected but the "Do Not Disconnect" screen will keep flashing and never stops, I looked for help on this topic, and it told me to unplug it, and reboot it, I did what it said, and my iPod was fine. Again, I tried to transfer my new music onto my iPod and it did the same thing, is there any way that I can stop my iPod from flashing "Do Not Disconnect" continually and just transfer my music?

  • IPod flashing "Do Not Disconnect"

My 30GB ipod has been flashing "Do Not Disconnect", with a red crossed-out circle. I placed it in my dock at lunch today to recharge it, and I just retunred home to see it flashing. Itunes says the sync is complete and all software is up to date. I recharged my brother's ipod last night, and everything was normal. Can anyone please help me?
    Thanks!
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
The "Do Not Disconnect" screen will continue to stay displayed on your iPod, simply because you have Disk Use enabled (when automatically syncing iPod with iTunes).
If you are automatically syncing songs to your iPod, then disable disk use.
    For more info, see this:

  • Ipod mini flashes Do Not Disconnect forever

It will work when disconnected, but when you attach to computer it just flashes do not disconnect. I've reset it, I've restored it so there's nothing even on it, but plug it is and that's what it will say until you just take it off anyway. The computer says it's updated - Please help!

If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes, right click on the iPod in iTunes, select options and if you have a check mark in the box marked “enable disk use”, remove it and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

  • IPOD *ALWAYS* flashes DO NOT DISCONNECT

IPOD ALWAYS flashes DO NOT DISCONNECT when connected to my computer. How do I fix that??

Personally I would, from the information you have given, reset my iPod and/or restore it and then try it again. If this still happens repeat the process but re-install iTunes and QT.
I know this is not a quick resolve but, personally, these things must be done before doing much else since it could be a number of reasons this could be happening - try the more obvious approach first (if you haven't already). If this still does not work then I will not be able to help, there are others here that certainly know more than I do - failing that visit an Apple Store if possible since I would have a guess at stating its more an iPod problem than the software on your computer.

iPhone 3G plugged into PC(Windows 7) 'USB is Not Recognized' and unable to restore; stuck on 'Connect to iTunes'
I was in the process of putting another firmware for my iPhone(an .ipsw via. itunes) and the house had a power cut. The computer was in the middle of restoring the iPhone but never finished. The apple logo came on and then came onto the 'connect to itunes' screen. My sim card was in but there is no option to slide for emergency. When I Plug it into my computer, a message pops up saying that the 'USB Device Not Recognized', I've tried to plugging my iPhone into my laptop and other Computers but the same message occurs (all windows 7). Other articles say that the error is with the iPhone, I need help!! Can anybody offer some advice on what to do?

  • Do Not Disconnect and Being Used by Another Program

My iPod was connected to my laptop when I started it up. It launched itunes and itunes synced and said, "It's ok to disconnect." However my iPod still flashes Do Not Disconnect. So then I tried the little eject button. That gave me the message, "Cannot eject, iPod is in use by another program." My first thought was that it was Winamp and closed that down. It still shows the do not disconnect. My final option is to shut off the computer, but will that be ok? Hoping not to have more problems with the ipoddity.

flash player not working.  can't watch video and can't upload pics to facebook

thanks for helping.  I have windows 7, internet explorer.  recently had to replace my hard drive, and compete reinstall of all software so still a few bugs on settings, ect.  not seeing any error messages.  video and uploading pics seemed to be fine until the last week.  not sure what could have changed .  I can still look at PDF ect, I'm not positive its the Adobe that is messed up, but the 2 things I'm having problems with, clicking on and watching video on espn.com and not uploading pics to Facebook, both just does nothing when I try them.  no errors, just black screen where its suppose to play or upload.  the trouble shooting for both sites say make sure to have the latest version of flash player, so thats why I assume something is wrong with Adobe.  when I do the self scan from this site it says I have the latest version.  my settings say the player is enabled

  • Flashing do not disconnect symbol

i plugged my ipod into the usb (regular, not 2.0) and it just keeps flashing "do not disconnect" with the red symbol. it appears the ipod got charged. nothing happens when i hit menu, or any other button. when i go to the button on bottom of screen it just says "apple ipod usb device cannot be stopped right now. try stopping it later" ok hopefully someone can helpme (please?)

    Hi coffeandtimbits,
    Let's try resetting your iPod:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times. (leave it on the white side of the switch, which is the Off position)
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
After your iPod displays the Apple logo as it resets, it should display the normal main menu for a couple seconds, then flash back to "Do Not Disconnect".
Open up iTunes, and see if it syncs from there. If it does, then, when the sync is complete, click on the little arrow next to your iPod's name in the Source List (the left display panel) of iTunes.
Hopefully, at this point, your iPod will safely eject, and show the Main Menu screen. It is does this, then it should be fine to unplug it from your computer.
If your iPod isn't recognized in iTunes, or you can't successfully eject it from there, then this is probably the best thing you can do to safely disconnect your iPod (withOUT unplugging it when it says not to):
Close all applications that are running on this user account, and other user accounts on your computer, as well.
Then, turn off your computer (with your iPod still connected).
After the computer has fully shut down itself (the HD quits spinning, etc), unplug your iPod from your computer.

  • "do not disconnect" and automatic vs. manual updates

today, i switched my ipod to disable automatic updating b/c there were songs (e.g. holiday music) on my itunes and ipod, which i wanted to remove from my ipod. but when ever since i switched to manual update mode, my ipod says "do not disconnect" and it must be manually ejected (dragging icon to trash before disconnecting from usb port). even when i switched my computer/ipod back to original settings (automatically update music versus manually update from itunes), my ipod still must be ejected manually and displays "do not disconnect". how can i get it to the way it was?
thanks in advance for any answers.

    Michelle,
With iTunes open click on the iPod icon located at the lower right of the pane.
In the preferences you have the option to, "Enable Disk Use". If this is checked then your iPod is mounted as a hard drive. If you uncheck this box you will see the "Do Not Disconnect" disappear.
    hope this helps.

  • IPod continuously flashes "Do not Disconnect" even when set to automatic.

iPod continuously flashes "Do not Disconnect" even though iTunes says "Update is Complete" and even when set to automatic update. It mounts both in iTunes and on the Desktop.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I have alredy tried rebooting both the iPod and computer.
    Thanks.

    Patrick,
    Welcome to the discussions.
Sounds like you've got Disk Use enabled. Try unchecking the Box "Enable Disk Use" under iTunes>Preferences>iPod Tab.

  • Flashing 'Do Not Disconnect' screen stays on indefinitely

Flashing 'Do Not Disconnect' screen stays on indefinitely when connected to computer. What should I do?

If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the little eject icon next to the iPod listing in the source window of iTunes, or right click on it and select “eject”. There is also an iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes. Another way would be to use the “safely remove hardware” icon in the system tray next to the clock (looks like a grey rectangle with a green arrow above it). Click on this then select your iPod. Or through Windows, select start/my computer, right click on the iPod, select eject.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes version 7 or later, connect the iPod and when you see the summary screen, uncheck the box marked "enable disk use".
If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, right click on the iPod in the source list, select options and uncheck the same box.
In future your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.
