Help for a ibook 300mhz

hi i just accuried a ibook clamshell from craigslist it turns on just fine with the cord pluged in it runs os 9.0 300 mhz ppc 32 mb of ram and a 3.2 gig hard drive. i was hopeing to take the ram and airprot card from my old imac g3 that doesnn't turn on. ( it's a graphite) anyho i was wondering what version of os x would work best on it. To clear all i want to use it for is writing, internet, basic music and movies.
any help help would be great

You can use the AirPort card from the iMac G3 but not the RAM.
The latest OS you can use is OS 10.3.9.

My second iBook charger is now on it's deathbed. A lot of tape keeps the broken end (the one that goes into the computer) functioning for the moment, but I don't want to risk messing up the computer or the battery by using a faulty power source for very long.
However, not only are these adapters of very poor quality, they are also very expensive to get from the Apple store. So I am looking for a third-party replacement.
However, all the replacements have different watt listings (45, 60, 65, 80). I read somewhere that the iBook adapter is 45W, but the replacement sold by the Apple store is 65W.
What is the watt requirement for the iBook? What will happen if I use the wrong wattage?
Any recommendations of third-party adapter suppliers in the UK/EU?
I would be very grateful to anyone who is able to help me.

Not so sure I agree with that. They are subject to a lot of abuse. I can show you Dell, IBM, Compaq etc. power adapters with the same problem. That's why Apple invented MagnaSafe.

I just ordered one of these for a client:

and it seemed identical to the Apple version. It's supposed to be refurbed. They ship to UK. It was $33 shipped to Chicago. It was also the 65 watter. Technically speaking if you ran your iBook on a sub wattage supply it would pull it down. However I've never had a problem in my shop doing that as long as there was a battery in the iBook.(acts as a power buffer)

Can anyone tell me if there is a size limit for an ibook on an itunesU course?
Mine is looking pretty enormous I may have to break out into more than one book

The absolute limit is 2 gig i think; remember the larger the book is, the less likely people will want to doewnload it. Try doing it in seperate chpaters or multiple installments.

Thank you Alan and know you are right. I really can do all I need with my netbook and ereader and do not need the ipad. I think I just wanted something new and felt I may enjoy using it a lttle more than the netook. But it would be a waste just to buy one when I donlt acutally need it And, donl't think it is worth the extra money for me the get the 4g wireless capability since I doubt I would really need it often.
I may treat myself to the Ipad for the color, touchpad and fun to use but it is very expensive considering how little it will do for me no more than the things I want it for. It woudl be and expensive luxuray, I can do without. I actually need t learn how to use more of the function avaiable first. Maybe I should take up playing games and learning to take digital pictures so I can at least load them. If I could learn to do that and take a decent picture, I could start selling back all the "stuff" I have purchased on ebay. haha - I do have a nice doll collection, I would like to sell. I just do not have room for anything else. That was the primary purpose for the Kindle Ereader I bought and enjoy so much,
But, I will hold onto the thought for a while and see how it goes and what other comments I get, If I think I cannot live without it, then I will have to rethink which one to buy, I coud get the 32 g if I did not have to pay for the 4g wireless. And, if I knew I could get help to teach me how to use and enjoy all the functions, I would give it more serious consideration. My granddaugther got one for Christmas and that was what got me interested in it. I love the size of the screen and it had good color and was fast. She even had an application where she could write her notes and it would convert into typed words. That was a neat feature, If you could print it?

Consumer Reports probably has a review section on new printers, but you can either buy it in the store or buy an online subscription (I believe).

IBook 300Mhz problems

Hi, I have an iBook Clamshell 300Mhz, 32 mb built in ram, 3gb harddrive running OS9.2.2 and wondering after i got my iBook back from a very good Apple nut that replaced my cdrom drive because the first time the drive wouldnt eject and he replaced it and when i got it back the airport reception dropped drasticly and i have no 2.4 Ghz reception issues and am wondering if there is anything i can do besides buy a usb d-link thingy or another airport card. i am also wondering if u can get a superdirve for the iBook Clamshell 300Mhz because the iBook has the support in the extensions folder but i got told otherwize that it wouldnt be able to have a dvd drive cause of the age.

that little antenna cord is connectedand i even took the card out completly lew into the connections on the card and comp. and still the same issue. it worked as good as my iMac G5's airport card does untill i had my CD-ROM drve replaced in my iBook clamshell. Do you think the drive wuz put in wrong and pinch an airport cord??

Be sure to buy from a firm that gives you a lifetime warranty on the RAM you buy. While RAM doesn't fail very often, it can happen. Enough vendors give a lifetime warranty that you should not settle for one that doesn't. I would recommend paying a few dollars more if necessary to get the lifetime warranty.

Sadly the iTunes Store was not released until Mac OS X. You'll need Mac OS X 10.1 and iTunes 4 minimum to get to the iTunes Store on your iBook G3 and the ability to download any podcasts from the store. Since Mac OS X 10.1 wasn't that stable, and few software titles exist for it, I recommend upgrading to a minimum of 10.3.9 which supports iTunes 7.7.1.
Your Blueberry iBook may or may not be compatible with 10.4, as this tip explains:

If you can get 10.4, you can get iTunes 9.2.1.
You will not be able to sync your phone with the iBook regardless of Mac OS X version.
Your iBook is too old to install an Airport Extreme card, so it can't securely hook up wirelessly to your wireless network. You'll want a ethernet WiFi bridge that supports a minimum of 802.11g to hook up to the iBook via ethernet. An Apple Airport Extreme base station can act as one as well via its LAN ports.

Help! my iBook won't boot

A couple nights ago I finally got around to doing the most recent software update for my iBook G4. While it was re-booting it froze in a really wierd way (patches of random colors on the screen) and since then, I haven't been able to get it to boot.
It gets past the screen with the Apple logo (slowly, but it does get past it), but after that it goes to what normally turns into the login screen but it never loads and stays frozen on a gray screen and the little window even opens, but nothing ever shows up in it.
I've already tried booting from installation disc 1. It said that it fixed some problems with my hard drive when I did the "HD first aid" (I think that's what it's called). But when I re-booted, it did the exact same thing as before.
I was worried that the problem may have been that I ran out of disc space when I did the update, but when I booted from the disc, it said I had 3 GB or so left on my hard drive.
I've had no problems with my iBook whatsoever until the night I did the software update, so I am thinking this has something to do with that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am trying to get this fixed before I go back to class next week.

Welcome to the Discussions.
It sounds like an incomplete update (or corrupted one). If you have another Mac available you could connect the two via firewire and start the iBook in Firewire target mode then download the Combined Update (either 10.3.9 or 10.4.9) from the downloads page and reinstall it.
If you don't have another Mac available you can try an Archive and Install (click on Options and choose "Preserve Users and Network Settings"). You may not be able to do it with only 3GB of space but it's worth trying. You'll need to reinstall the updates but go to the download page and get the appropriate Combo Update.

Optimal OS level on clamshell iBook 300Mhz?

my doughter needs a laptop primarily for word processing as she now occupies my iMac all day...so I figured she might use my old clamshell that´s been stuffed away for years in the basement. It runs 9.2.2 and works ok, as a mattaer of fact I´m using it to post this thread. However, is 9.2.2 the optimal OS lever for this iBook? Iwould like to set it up with 10.3.9 as I understand is supported, but is it worth it? Beside wordprocessing (MS Word) she´ll probably use it for browsing the internet and mail but that´s about it I guess.
I want to make it easy for her to connect to my othe Macs (running OS 10.5.x) for file and print sharing as well. Any suggestions?

My husband is writing his book on my old Blueberry, which is still in original specs, 3GB HD, 32 RAM, 300MHz, etc. I have installed the latest firmware updates (4.1.7) and it's running on OS 9.2.2. I'd like to increase the speed, to have enough RAM to run Word for Mac. According to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3033 it is only configurable "Up to 288 MB". I'd like to install a 512 MB, PC100 card in there but don't want to ruin the computer. I've read elsewhere that it can take a 512MB card but I can't find PC66 cards for sale anywhere.] Suggestions, comments?

Creating search help for a field in AdHoc Query

We have created an infoset based on LDB PCH.
(The infoset contains object type O only).
For the object-id field the users want search help when choosing this field for selection.
Using "start via selection screen" does not give a good solution.
Can anyone explain how I can create search help for fields in an infoset?

Need to restrict values in F4 help for Batch Characteristic

Hi,
I need to restrict values in F4 Help for a batch characteristic based on values entered for another characteristic. I could not find any BADI or Exit for this purpose. There is a BADI CACL_VALUE which is triggered after an entry is selected from dropdown list but nothing when we press F4. I thought of using Object Dependency but I need to write a programming logic for the requirement. Please let me know if there is any way to write program in Object Dependency or any other way for this requirement.

first of all, find out which search help is called.

may help you.
If you know the search help, you may enhance it, but first of all you should check the where-used-list and make sure that the search help shows the requested behavior only in the context where you want it to.
If it is your own program, you may be better off to create your own search help and define the triggering fields as search help interface input fields. Then you can use the values to filter results.

Search Help for Vendor Feild not getting populated in the Screen Element

In transaction Miro, I get a POP-UP for Invoicing Party i.e. Vendor and Users required a custom search help.
The Search help for Vendor(LIFNR) is KRED_C and i appended a Z search help under this.
Now that the search help exists and I can drill down the values too but when i select/choose any value, that value is not getting populated in Screen feild.
is there any validation I need to do for this.
Please suggest me... I checked SDN there are many things but i couldn't figure out wat i need to do and where I need to modify.
