Help for Highlight Tool odd behavior in Acrobat 7.1.0

Hi all,
I am using Acrobat to mark up several PDF documents provided by a software vendor. In some PDFs, the highlight tool erases one or more words when used. It is not hiding them, because an Undo will remove the highlighting and the word or words are still erased. In some cases, the words are within a shaded box, but not always. Does anyone have a clue as to what document property/properties might be causing this? Is it something I can change prior to marking up the document? Thanks in advance.

One opinion. Thoughts? : perhaps the rendering engine used by Word to produce the PDF is not quite compatible with versions of Acrobat before 8

Set keyboard shortcut for Acrobat DC tools (highlight tool, selection tool)

It seems that this new version Acrobat DC does not have keyboard shortcut for these tools?

I can't find anything on creating your own shortcuts. Actually, you may want to go to the online help and download the manual in PDF form.

Can you expand more on what you'd like to see when it comes to annotation?
As per highlighting, are you referring to the ability to select text? If so, you can do this now
To do it, tap and hold a word or sentence you'd like to copy for a few seconds and text selections will appear allowing you select text followed by copying it. Thanks!

Help - text boxes/highlighting hidden unless selected in Acrobat Pro 9.2

I am working Acrobat Pro 9.2. When I insert a text box, it disappears when I click somewhere else. I can only tell it's there If I hover over it - I get a black mouse arrow. If I click on it and select it, then I can see the text and border, but if I click anywhere else, it disappears. I've tried all the options and settings I can find. It is set to show, not hide, all comments and text boxes. Also, when I try to highlight regular text, it puts a little yellow, symbol above my text but does not highlight the text. When I roll the mouse over it, a yellow note pops up with the text I highlighted, but when I move the mouse away, nothing is highlighted. Again, I've tried changing all of the settings I can find related to highlighting but nothing works. I use Acrobat on other computers and have used both text boxes and highlighting without any problem. Is this due to a setting somewhere, or is there something wrong with my installation of Adobe? Something to check.
To have text selected by the Highlight tool placed into the annotation's pop-up:
Preferences > select Category "Commenting"
There are three panes of configuration options.
--| View Comments
--| Pop-Up Open Behavior
--| Making Comments
Tick the last option (Copy selected text into Highlight, Cross-Out, and Underline comment pop-ups) in the third pane.
Play with the other options as you may find others that are very useful.
For form fields:
Preferences > select Category "Forms"
In the first pane (General), select "Show focus rectangle".
In the second pane (Highlight Color) select "Show border hover color for fields".

HELP! Odd behavior in Photoshop CS6. Anyone have a solution?

Hi I am having really odd behavior in CS6. I have reset and cleared preferences. As you can see from the screenshot I have a rectangle shape layer but I have not assigned any shape layer effects to it. PS is adding a black border on its own and I have no idea how to get rid of it. I have been using photoshop for 20 years and this is driving me nuts. I've never seen this behavior before. If I add a color overlay the line is still there. If I rasterize the shape layer then add a color overly the outline disappears. But I don't want to raterize my shape layers. Anyone know how to get rid of it? Thank you in advance to anyone who might have a solution.

Acrobat Reader - Use Fixed Resolution for Snapshot tool images setting

Hello,
We're currently running Acrobat Reader 9.x on our production Windows Vista SP2 Enterprise image and we're running Acrobat Reader X on our development Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit image. I'm curious if there's a registry setting that sets the "Use fixed Resolution for Snapshop tool images" from 72dpi to 300 dpi.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The per user settings are held in the following registry location:
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\10.0\Selection
There is a hexadecimal value named iSnapshotResolution which contains the resolution for the Snapshot Tool. Also a parameter called bUseFixedSnapshotResolution which needs to be set to 1 to switch the feature on or 0 to disable the feature.
This is a per user setting but I believe Reader checks the per machine location
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader 10.0\Selection
Presumably you can put the same values into the HKLM section (it doesn't exist by default) so you will need to create the Selection key.
Hope this makes sense.

How to create a "Custom Color" for highlighting? (Acrobat XI)
The numbers in the RGB and other fields change as various numbers are changed.
I wanted to create a pale orange:
Hue               13      Red      255
Saturation   240      Green 177
Luminosity    86       Blue     140
I'd selected one of the orange squares in the color grid, to display the general orange area of the slider.
I moved the slider to select a pale orange, which generated the above numbers.   Since this wasn't directly available to save to a Custom Color, I tried to edit the numbers. Unfortunately, the other numbers changed, making it impossible to actually create a color.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Note: I used Techsmith's Snagit to show screen shots in a Word document.
When I attempted to browse and upload the file, the error message said "[The content type of this image is not allowed.]"
OK...what images *are* allowed?

It appears that this was a bug that was introduced in the latest update. Others have been able to resolve this issue by using the Acrobat Cleaner tool to uninstall and then reinstall Acrobat. You might try this if you have a few spare moments.
And can you please share the problem PDF which was working correctly in the earlier version.

What format are those music scores (I'm not familiar with cubase documents). But, it may be that Adobe PDF Pack doesn't support that format. In that case, Acrobat is the way to go. You can then print your files to PDF as you'd like. You're welcome to try Acrobat for free for 30 days to see whether it's going to work for you. If you decide it is, and you'd like to use it going forward, you could convert your PDF Pack subscription into an Acrobat subscription.

Are you after free stuff or are you prepared to licence pay a licence fee?
Inthe paid for category the obvious place to start is teh Performance Tuning package for Oracle Enterprise Manager. Quest and BMC also offer dashboard type interfaces.
In the free stakes, there's quite a neat tool called Orasnap.

Tool for highlighting a pattern in terminal

I'm looknig for a tool which can be used in terminal for highlighting patterns. For example
$ cat fruits
banana
apple
orange
$ cat fruits | hilight_magic_tool apple
banana
apple # <-- highlightetd
orange
$ cat fruits | hilight_magic_tool strawberry
banana
apple
orange
Its quite similiar to grep --color=auto but grep shows only output when the pattern occurs, when the pattern doesn't occur it acts like simple cat.
Anybody knows the real name of the hilight_magic_tool?

Make a sed script:
#!/bin/dash
sed -e 's/'"$1"'/^[[31m&^[[m/g'
The ^[[ is made by CTRL+v, ESC, [
EDIT: added double quotes around $1 to make more possible.
