Help for MS friend

Will the speech software allow a person to use a Mac by voice commands only? My friend is unable to use her hands, but fine with speech. Is there another brand of software which works better? I have read about Dragon Naturally Speaking, but it seems to be only available for PCs and Windows. Hate to get her started on that vice Mac. Thanks.

Hello Carole,
The basic speech recognition on a Mac is fine for controlling the basic operation of the machine, but can't handle text input and such.
One solution for dictation is iListen which has received very good notices, though as fast accurate typists neither I nor my disabled wife uses this so we can't give first-hand feedback.
Another source of good information and software is Assistive Ware. Their package is good enough to allow people with only one tiny movement to operate a Mac. It can even make the machine speak for them!

Need help for a friend with setting up their bb email

I have a bb bold and never had any trouble setting up my email. But, my friend is having trouble with her's. She is on Verizon and was able to set up the email so that she could receive emails but, she's not able to send out going messages to everyone. It was suggested by Verizont that she set up the email using IMAP instead of POP. She asked me to help with getting her directions but, I haven't been able to find anything online about configuring that in the email set up. Does anyone have any directions I can email her about setting up her email?

When configuring your email, you cannot, inside of BIS, control IMAP versus POP. Rather, it's a function of the server to which you point BIS for your email -- if it does IMAP, BIS will configure IMAP. Many email providers supply separate email servers for POP or IMAP...some combine on one server. Not knowing your email provider, It's impossible to tell you what your email provider is doing. I can only see some of the info (e.g. the email Facebook gives you) for some friends in Contacts. I can see everything for others. Their b-days aren't listed in my Contacts (but these friends have their B-days on their profile on FB). Can anyone help?

I can only see some of the information of my Facebook friends in my Contacts. For example, a friend has a birthday today. I received an email that she and another friend have birthdays this week. I received a notification on my iPhone and iPad that her birthday was today. It was never displayed in my Notification Center or Calendar beforhand, like it's displayed for other friend's (for other friends, it's displayed in the Notification Center, with the Calendar icon, 1 day before). I looked at every setting I could think of and the Help pages on Facebook. Nothing is working. My friend with the birthday today has her birthday openly listed on her Profile information on her Facebook page. In my contacts, her Facebook email (the one Facebook assigns you when you join) is listed. However her picture and birthday are not listed. I displayed my Facebook Contacts only, and roughly 20 showed up and not the rest. It's like the devices are not recognizing those people and putting their information in the respective places. I have an iPad 3rd Gen, iPhone 5, and MacBook Pro (purchased in January 2013. I hope that helps) and ALL the software updates are current. Can anyone help? Also, my MacBook cannot access my Contacts from Yahoo. Despite my typing in the correct password repeatedly as well as deleting and adding the Yahoo account again. I'd be grateful for any and all help. Thank you.

If he has not previously set up Find My iPhone, there is no way to
track the iPhone. Apple does not and will not track phones.
Immediately change all passwords. Hopefully he was using a passcode
to get by the lock screen. If he was, his data is protected; if not, anyone
who finds the iPhone can access anything that was on it.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can)

Help! made recording for a friend and it's skipping all over the place!

I had no other programs running as I attempted to make an audio recording for a friend today. I've loved this software for editing audio I've already had as mp3's, but trying to record today proved to be really stressful. I noticed the timer seemed to be lagging/jerking as I recorded, and there are tons of skips in the playback. Is there any way I can salvage this recording without re-doing it? any way I can process it, etc? I've experimented with changing the buffer settings and it's not helping. So dissapointed.

Suggest you get a newer, larger,
faster hard drive initially - that's too small and too slow. Actually, the same advice goes for the PC as well, and this time don't get a Dell - they are notorious for sound problems.
I'm afraid you can't salvage a recording made onto a drive that can't cope with it - because the data won't have actually made it to the drive... so there's nothing to salvage.
The problem with the drive is that the very small amount of spare space on the drive will also be competing with the OS for temp space, and since this is a woefully slow drive anyway, it simply won't cope with trying to do both things at the same time. And on top of that, your processor is slightly lower than Adobe's minimum spec, so all in all, I can't say that I'm too surprised at the results you got, I'm afraid. The minimum spec is there for a reason...

Just had an employee terminated most acrimoniously and had an iPhone 5C that was a brick. Apple support can help remove the lock. Better hold onto your original receipt and record the Serial# ! I do not mean the MEID or IMEI but the Serial# found on the original box or Settings>General>About. In my case no receipt or Serial#. 2 hours on the phone between Apple and Verizon and got what was needed. Submitted form and got reply to allow 2-10 business days.

I am using editable alv using 'reuse_* '.
I have used date as input field. While creating fieldcatlog also i have declared dat as a mkpf-budat.
But i am not getting serach help for date in output.
Is it possible with reuse or i have to go by object oriented ?

PLANS give the check table name as <b>T528B</b>
then it will automatically give the search help
or you can create your own search help(elementary) and add to that field

Can i set up an itunes account for my friend living in another country?

I would like to set up an itunes account for my friend living aboard and I'm happy to use my own credit card details to buy the music and use my own email address. Is this possible? It's for a birthday present so I wanted to just send her the login details to the account and hey-presto she has lots of cool new music. I've looked up itunes cloud / match etc but have no idea if this is possible to do. Please help and thanks in advance

FYI, you've posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question really isn't related to.
But, the answer to your question is no. To set up an account in a regional iTunes Store the person must have a credit card drawn on a local bank and an address in the local country to create the account. The Terms of Service of the stores also prevent someone from living in one country and using another store.

I can't burn a cd for my friend :(

Someone please help! i was burning cd's for my friends yesterday and my comp was working just fine. Then i installed the new version of itunes yesterday. When i pressed the burn button today it says disc burner or software not found... . please help! im going to go see her in half an hour..
