Help for school security issues urgent

recently taken over a mac room at school with 15 machines one problem with safari is on the students limited accounts if they type in somthing on the address bar in terminal they can then open terminal and open apps that they are not permitted to anyway round this ? please help

I don't have a current copy of Panther. However, I recall you can impose restrictions in the limited account setup (System Preferences>Accounts) precluding the use of certain applications. This would include access to Terminal.
Perhaps someone else in the forum who currently uses Panther can confirm, or clarify my recollection.

First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
    Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
    If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
    This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally.     Adobe InDesign CS6 Windows I'm a frequent user of InDesign, but I now suddenly am facing problems. Note: I use InDesign not only for print material, but also for creating PDF. I therefore do not necessarily need 300 dpi. Before: copy + paste from Photoshop or even web images into InDesign used to work. The images looked fine on screen and while printing. Now, when I import or copy + paste, all images look pixelated at 100%, high quality and overprint preview. It looks like InDesign is importing images 25% larger than their original size. If I resize the imported image to 75%, the image looks normal. 100% is always pixelated now! Did I mess up some sort op setting? I never had this problem before. Please help me, need this for school assignment!

    First of all, thank you for your reply. I just checked an example image and both are 72 dpi, in InDesign as well as in Photoshop. I even created a document for web in InDesign, using the 'web' & digital publishing option (which is 72 dpi) and placed the same image. At 100% pixelated, when resizing to 75% crisp. I don't know what to do..
    The thing is.. I've never had this problem for years.. with importing images. Did I change settings or?

    i have a wlc 5500  with two ssids for employees and contractors
    both ssids with layer2 security WPA+WPA2 and auth key mgmt 802.1x are authenticated with ACS 5.0 (active directory) for users access and are working fine after windows adapter setting
    but my question is, can i do some thing like
    authentication with acs 5.0 (active directory) for users access but without windows adapter seting????
    i mean without changing any setting on windows adapter ( leave it as default).
    if i can then how i can???
    or i cann't do that i mean there is not any option to do that?
    plz give me your seggustions i need urgent help on this topic.

    it seems only for 802.1x authentication key methode needs windows adaptor changing as per you.
    is there any other option to configure wlan scurity with acs (MS active Dir) user authentication like

    i want when any client will try to connect any wlan he ll just prompted to use his username and password(of active directory) without doing any changes in window adapter setting???
    i don't care layer 2 security will be whatever like wpa+wpa2 with 802.1x OR something else
    can i do that or no ??
    if yes i can than what type of security?
    please don't tell me about webauthentication i already know about that and i ll use that mothed for GUSET-Wlan.

    Install a webserver on same pc or server as the database. And than put the applet in the doctree. When you run the applet (start the page whicht contains the applet) it must work.
    Signing is not that easy and I must search how i've done that.
    For a signed applet you need a commercial certificate (verisign or something like that). You can also create certificates yourself but that will only work on the pc's where you install that certificate.
    A commercial one will also work on other pc's (or the internet).
    If you would like to know how to create a certificate than I must search first how I did it.

    Does it stores  logs from this devices into some central location where CSM is being installed in some database or some file.
    Can I be able to read logs for all those devices including CSM from one single point. Please help me.

    When CSM services are running, Event Viewer can show the events in real time.
    You are right about backup. When CSM application backup is running, its services on the server are stopped. So, there is a risk of loosing logging events that are sent to CSM server during the period of backup. By scheduling backup out of user-activity hours, risk of losing important events can be minimized.
    On the other hand, events on IPS devices have to be polled from the device. So, there is no loss of IPS events in case of CSM application backup.

  • Has anyone had OSX Yosemite Keychain for Safari security issue?

    I updated my MacBook Air today and when it rebooted I had multiple random Facebook and gmail / yahoo logins stored on my keychain for Safari. Some worked and allowed me to login to what look like fake Facebook profiles. I have no idea where they could have come from...
    There were also logins for children websites for "Learning to read". I am baffled where all these random logins have come from???

    I'm having the same problem, also since upgrading to Mavericks. Tried contacting Apple, but they weren't helpful. I get the "A problem occurred with this webpage so it was reloaded." message when I'm using Outlook Web App to write emails. I also get:
    "There was a problem opening your mailbox. You may have already signed in to Outlook Web App on a different browser tab. If so, close this tab and return to the other tab. If that doesn't work, you can try:
    - Closing you browser window and signing in again.
    - Deleting cookies from you browser and signing in again."
    I've had tech support re-image my computer and I'm still getting the same messages. I think it's got to be a compatibility issue between Safari and Mavericks...

  • Need helps for remote connection issue

    Dear guys,
    Today, I got a problem regarding remote connections. My Oracle stopped responding to remote connections. (tried to connect by sqlplus with service name, and sqlplus hung) Tnsping works. Local connection works (tried to connect by sqlplus without service name).
    Have to stutdown by sqlplus and oracle did not respond. Shutdown the server (windows server 2003 standard edition), system stop responding (guess it was caused by oracle service). Had to shutdown by pushing the power button. After it restarts, everything come back to normal. No error is logged in alert log.
    Any ideas regarding this issue? Many thanks.

    Still studying this issue. Found an SQLNET.log in the %ORACLE_HOM%/NETWORK/LOG fould. It reads:

    Seems it's related to authentication service issue. So, I just commented out SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) from sqlnet.ora even my database functions well after restart. But I'm not sure if this is the solution and still wondering what's the root cause of this error.

  • Completely new to Soundtrack Pro - need help for school project

    I've never used Soundtrack Pro before, but I need to record and modify some dialogue for a project for one of my classes, and I think that's the only audio program we have on the computers in the lab I'm using.
    Can I use Soundtrack Pro to record myself reading lines of dialogue? And then modify the audio tracks? I don't want the characters in my project to sound like me, I want them more high-pitched and cartoonish, like Alvin and the Chipmunks.
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi, yeah you can select your audio and using the *Process menu* choose eitherr the +Pitch>Pitch Shifter II+ or the +Mac OS > Pitch+ plug in to shift the pitch. I think Pitch may be better for what you want.
    You can also look under the *Process menu* and find +Time Stretch+ which you can use to speed up your audio if desired.
    Don't forget the Undo command -z

I need to control the intensity of AC load (halogen lamp with 2kW,230V,50Hz) using Labview and Arduino. But my project using interrupt in Arduino, so it is not possible to use Labview Interface For Arduino(LIFA).  I searched and it might be possible to use VISA serial in this matter.   • Need help for the security setting

    We are preparing the demo environment with ADF Security turn on with Http Basic Authentication.
    Everything works fine but for a command that is send to one of our proxy servlet (context path /BIProxy), we got a pop up dialog that asks you to login to weblogic container.
    Anyone have any suggestion regarding what extra security configuration that I need to config to access to context path/servlet that is not default Faces servlet.
    The following is what we have in jazn-data.xml for region:

    Hi, we find more informaiton.
    We got two 401 errors which causes the login popup.
    o. For the 1st 401 error (expected), the http header is set to: WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="jazn.com" so we enter the correct user credential, the dialog goes away.
    o. For the 2nd 401 error, the http header is set to: WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="WebLogic Server" so we get "Authentication Required" dialog ask for WLS login.
    For the 2nd 401 error, we are pointing to /Sales-BaseSalesSalesHomePageUi-context-root/BIProxy?cid=BIPresentationServer&RedirectURL=res/b_mozilla/common/obips.ImportMeFirst.js from Referer URL: /Sales-BaseSalesSalesHomePageUi-context-root/faces/zbsSalesHomePage?_adf.ctrl-state=x5a1n5x2d_11
    So my quesiton is that do we need to add some security setting in jazn-data.xml or someother files to specify security setting for /BIProxy?

    1) My ovi store can not be open. When I open it, it shows me a blank screen. How can i reinstall the Ovi store into my N8?
    2) My N8 couldn't read or show any korean character, even though i've tried to follow some advice from the forum as below, but still its not working.

    You can update Ovi store through the phone browser if you visit the following address: http://lr.ovi.mobi/store/new-symbian-3
    I also recommend that you delete Temporary Internet files from phone browser.
    In the phone go to Menu -> Internet -> (<<) (bottom right) -> Preferences
    Select Privacy -> Clear Private Data -> All
    Restart your phone, start the Ovi Store and try to download the application again
    Are you trying to read korean characters on a webpage, or in messages/e-mail?

  • Help!! Security Issues with web site

    Whenever we start our webservices, web visitors can view our folder list. The option is disabled on the server and the web folder is not being shared.
    Any ideas? One of my sites was hacked into.

    Without an index.html file, the directory structure is shown by default in Apache.
    The easiest thing to do is have an index.html file in every folder. Nothing elaborate, just a simple html page will do.

  • Need help for school!

    I can't get my iPad to pull up the presentations my professor posts online in Adobe Reader. They are powerpoints that have been exported as PDFs to the class website. However, when I go to them on my iPad it's not a presentation, rather my ipad shows it as a picture of the first slide, but no options buttons anywhere to pull it up in Reader..

    It's very hard to tell from your description. If you can download it to a computer, you could open it in Reader for Macintosh or Windows to see if it previews there. Or, you could provide a link, we could check it out.
