Help - frustrated !!!!!

I just recently got an ipod for my birthday and now I am ready to throw it out the window! I have a 1000 song ipod and it won't let me have more than 308 on it. I have tried over and over again to transfer the songs(purchased from itunes) from my library onto the ipod and when my ipod is connected it says I have 317 songs and I eject the ipod the correct way and then I try to play a song and it goes back to 308!!! Please Help

A 1000 song iPod? You mean 4GB iPod nano (very tiny) or mini (coloured). And that is already the issue: Saying "1000 songs fit on that iPod" apple is just giving an idea on how much could fit on it. Depending on the format, length and bitrate of a song, that number may decrease more or less.
Now, having only a 1/3 of the max. amount, I suppose, your songs are either extremely long or in a large format, such as .wav or - more likely in you case - Apple Lossless.
To get to the actual 1000 tracks, you'll need songs of an average length of 4 min., encoded into AAC at a bitrate of 128kBit/s.
Use iTunes to (re-)encode your music: Switch the encoder (Edit->Preferences->Advanced Tab->Import Tab). CDs will be ripped into that format automatically. Existing files in you library, you'll need to rightclick and then hit "encode into AAC".

Please help - frustrating kernel panic in 10.4.5

Hi everyone,
I am helping a friend on his iMac Flat Panel. He is running 10.4.5, and his computer's RAM was upgraded at the Apple Store from 256 to 512 Megs when he bought it a few years back.
He just did an erase and install of Tiger, and has been having intermittent kernel panics for a week now. They don't seem to follow a pattern, except that they happen more often when he wakes his computer from sleep mode and also when he is in Dashboard.
I ran MEMTEST, the Apple Hardware Test, and Disk Utility (the latter two from their appropriate startup CDs), and no issues were raised by these programs.
What am I missing here? I am posting the last couple kernel panics from his panic log. Can anyone decypher this??? Any help with this would be most appreciated!!!

Hi David,
to answer your question, no there is no database you can access to help decipher the information contained in a panic log. That information is really intended for Unix experts and programmers, not us mere mortals.
However, both of the logs you posted clearly point to the video card. Both of the logs mention it in the backtrace. In my opinion, removing regular ram will have no affect on this issue. Removing all peripheral devices except your keyboard, mouse, and monitor is always a good troubleshooting step when trying to track down the cause of a panic.

In my opinion though I believe this is a hardware issue with the video card and since it is not a user upgradable part in an iMac your friend probably will have to put it in the shop for repair.

If you still have the problem after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod you likely have a hardware and an appointment a the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

HELP FRUSTRATION IS MOUNTING!!!

I have been a RIMDevice user since the old RIM Pager days. Had the first Blackberry and itsreplacement. Then the Curve and now the BOLD. I do love thesedevices and am very familiar with the software. Six months ago I upgradedfrom 4.3 to 4.6 (I think) and my problems began. My curve stoppedsynchronizing with my computer. Each time the software went through thelast calendar processes with Lotus Notes it bombed out. Knowing I wasabout to get a new phone I lived with the issue. I got my BOLD aboutthree weeks ago. Installed the new software and I was up and running likeI never had a problem. Last week the same problem is back. I triedupgrading to 4.7 today and once again same issue. Window Error reportingkeeps saying the issue is because I am running a version of 3.6 or earlier whichI am clearly not. 3.6 had never even been on this computer. I NEEDSOME HELP ON THIS ONE! Please someone let me know hoe to correct.

Then reboot and do a clean install, followed by another reboot. Hopefully that'll get whatever it is that is reporting the old version cleared out.

HELP - FRUSTRATED - iTunes 7 Downloaded but will not install

Hi....I have downloaded iTunes. But when I then run the iTunesSetup.exe to install it, I keep getting the exact same message:
"The installation of QuickTime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires QuickTime"
That's it. No error number or further explanation. I have deleted/erased all other versions of QuickTime. I have downloaded, run and installed the QuickTime 7 standalone installer from my hard drive and yet I still keep getting the same message I posted above.
This is going on 3 hours now, and I'm not happy.

let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple Engineers for a look.
1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
3. Type in a space, then the following line:
/l*v C:\log.txt
4. Hit return.
5. The installer will create a log file:
C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.

Find all PC's with Outlook 2007 only. Help - Frustrated!

Hi All. I have been trying to find a way to create a query to show all PC's that have Outlook 2007 installed. I am basing this on file name = Outlook.exe. One problem is that many of the various queries I tried creating has multiple language
installations (i.e Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (Japanese) MUI or Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (Japanese) MUI.) Or it will show hundreds of Office updates for outlook. This throws the report off wildly. Below is what I have tried that I thought

Need help frustrating issue

I’ve been using Logic for many years now but recently have a recording issue that I cannot fix and its driving me mental. When I record in a loop say from nexus or put in drums or even a software synth the first midi note can be seen in the Piano roll and plays when you select it but when you play the sequence Logic doesn’t play it !! even the event log shows the first note at 1 1 1 1 yet logic doesn’t play!!
what am I doing wrong !! its driving me mad as Im having to start all my songs at bar 2 onward, surly this cant be correct

But it is correct.
There may be a fix/work around by adjusting some of the audio settings, possibly the process buffer. Anyway, this is a known problem with Logic's method of buffering and lack of a true preroll setting. Normally, the data should be cached and play without problem. The work around is exactly what you're doing, starting at bar 2 or later.

I have super 8mm film already transferred onto DVD... It plays on my Mac, but I cannot for the life of me import it into usable clips!! Please help, frustrated and against a deadline, thought this would be easy... thx in advance.....

I have a windows xp and i've had 250gb of extra storage installed on my computer. i bought videos off of itunes and apple took my money but it wont download on my itunes account. it says that i need to get rid of some files or delete my recycling bin. well i deleted everything in the bin and it still wont download. what type of files could they be talking about????????

You need to tell iTunes that you want the new files to download to your new 250GB drive.
Go to iTunes/preferences/advanced. In the General tab,under iTunes music folder location, browse to your new drive and you should be all set to go. It will ask if you want to move your files to the new location, it is up to you to decide.

I have a date class with a method which is suppose to return the date value a user type in. But no matter what the input is, it keeps returning 0/0/0. really don't know what to do.

Nonsense. When you pass this object to out, its toString method will be invoked.
The problem is in the constructor:

I think I just screwed up my ipod please help

All right I recently bought an external usb hard drive since my computer was almost ouot of space. I moved my ipod library over to it and for some reason every song was duplicated ,some multiple times, and about 1,000 songs are missing. Also now it says i have t o erase and sync because my ipod is synced with another library. I still have all my songs and playlists on my ipod so how can I just restore my ipod library to my hard drive and have that be my itunes library that will sync with my ipod?

First off.....BRAVO on all your work and direction and stewardship with Apple since you have been at the Helm of Apple.......Especially with your attention and concern over the IOS 6 Maps issues currently......
BUT.......Here is "one more thing" that is SERIOUSLY starting to snowball upon itself and is fast becoming a HUGE problem for many if not most Apple Product users and or is iTunes and iCloud infrastructure users........
It is the Issue of Apple ID Accounts and the many that Apple Product users have and use within the iTunes and iCloud Infrastructure or systems that effect all users of any Mac Computer (Desktop or Laptop) and all of the IOS devices as well as the effects upon iTunes and the iCloud.
FOR INSTANCE:
iTunes is Now nearly 12 years old..........back when it first started I was a PC user (I now use an iMac, iPhone, and iPad).........and when iTunes first started my first Apple ID for iTunes was the e-mail address of the ISP I was subscribed too at that time which was:
[email protected] / plus the password
Over the years I made a ton of Music and Movie and Books and App purchases using that account.
But, over the years I have moved several times and also stopped using PC equipment and now am exclusively Apple, thus my ISP provider has changed and of course that means that the [email protected] e-mail address is no longer my e-mail address (it is now [email protected]).......because I of course was using a different ISP as well and I was also a MobileMe subscriber....
But because there currently no way to Merge iTunes Apple ID's......I still now nearly 12 years later have to remember [email protected] (plus password) Apple ID login for my ITunes account.........
And Obviously I have a [email protected] (plus password account) for both iTunes and MobileMe.......and now of course [email protected] Apple ID has now been rolled into iCloud......and now I understand that all the @me.com addresses / ID's are going to be upgraded to @iCloud.com addresses / ID's......
And Honestly, That will now give me Three (3) Apple ID's I now have to remember and keep track of........and i know for certain that there are other people out there that probably have more than that......5 or even dare I say 10 of the Apple ID logins that they may have created as the went from one ISP to another creating iTunes accounts or MobileMe accounts, or iCloud Accounts or accounts for any of the Apple services every time they bought a new Mac or Mac's, or iPhone(s) or iPad(s), iPod(s), etc. etc.....I think you can see where I am going with this.......
WHY THIS IS BECOMING A HUGE PROBLEM FOR EVERYBODY: ?????
As I stated above over the years I have made a ton of music and Book and Movies and app purchases with my [email protected] iTunes account......
But as i was also using Mobile Me and now iCloud, I have also made a bunch of purchases with those Apple ID accounts as well......
So now when I go into iTunes and lets say I have 17 App Updates and I am logged into iTunes with the [email protected] ID, only those apps that were purchased with that account will update......thus I have to log out and log back in with the other Apple iTunes IDs in order to update or download the additional updates to iTunes.....It is an ENORMOUS pain in the ***.......and I only have three (3) Apple ID's / accounts......Imagine if you will what a headache it must be to the people that have something crazy going on like 5 or 10 different Apple ID's to log in and out of for iTunes and or iCloud, etc. etc.......
And Now.........it seems it is going to get even more confusing as i understand that all former mac.com and me.com e-mail addresses are getting rolled up and upgraded to @iCloud.com addresses......its is just becoming very confusing to many trying to juggle and manage multiple Apple ID's.......especially the very old ones that were created long ago when it was only just iTunes.......
This has become a problem that has been slowly growing and growing and needs to finally be addressed and fixed.......soon........before it grows to the point where it all becomes too large to deal with.....(and it might very well be already).......
There needs to be a way for ALL users of iTunes and iCloud (as well as former MobileMe users......developers, etc) to be able to merge all there accounts and Data (such as Appa, and Music, and Movies and Any iTunes purchases) into one account if they wish too all while preserving their personal data and without compromising security.....
And it seems like with all your systems and infrastructure moving towards iCloud, that it should be the developers and systems teams that are in charge of both iCloud and iTunes that should be working on this matter.....
I talked to one of your Apple Customer care people today by phone, and even that person expressed their frustration with this problem as she herself had multiple Apple ID's and logins and had encountered these issues I speak of.......
This is a serious problem that is still growing everyday for everybody........
And actually.....I wrote to you about this once before, and less than 24 hours later I actually received a personal phone call from one of your personal assistants regarding this issue and was told that at this time there was no fix that could be made........Unfortunate yes, but here it is nearly a year later and this problem is still growing and getting larger for everyone.......BUT, on the up side of things, I can tell you that getting that phone call was amazing.......proving once again, that Apple's customer service is world class and second to none......I wish every corporate company would follow your lead and model when it comes to customer service.......
