  • Netflix just 'hangs' and won't even open the home page, although if i log in as a guest then I can access it.

Netflix won't even open the home page to let me register and just hangs for ages. I have the same trouble on both safari and firefox but have updated both anyway. I'm guessing this is an 'identity' issue because if I log in as a guest on my own laptop I can open the netflix site, although there are all sorts of parental controls on there that I can't seem to override!
I have un-installed silverlight, tried again but no luck.
I re-installed silverlight. Still no luck
It's not a disaster as I'm still able to watch on my ipad, however it's annoying me and I like a mystery to solve!
    any ideas?

A password reset would certainly be a good idea. However, it could be an iCloud issue. If you Mac matches your user password to your Apple password, it could be that when you initially start up, you don't have an internet connection...
Logging in as guest gets you connected, thus being able to authenticate. So when you change it, either make sure it's stored locally, or run some diagnostics on wifi connection upon startup. Out of interest, are you connected at the login screen (top right next to the time will tell you)?

  • I want yahoo .ccom as my home page but iam using firefox i have a older computer and iwouldlike the orignial firefox system i downloaded cause i can not get yahoo as my homepage what can you do to help me?

i have tried everything from the information fire fox has giving me to make yahoo my home page but it is not working because i have an older p.c. is there any help i can get

The age of that PC shouldn't have an impact on being able to set your own homepage. Have you read this KB article?
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
If that doesn't help you, let us know which part of that article doesn't work.

  • When I press the Home button the iPad won't return to the home page. I have to press hard or press down for a long period to get it to change. sometimes I turn it off and on again to be able to access the home page

When  I press the home button my iPad won't go to he home page. It is as though the button isn't working properly?

Try this to calibrate your home button:
Open a stock iOS app (e.g., Clock). Once the app is open, press your iPad’s power button until the ‘slide to power off’ screen appears. From that screen, press and hold your Home button until iOS force quits the stock app you have open. You’re done!

It is possible that there is a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

Sounds like you are in Full screen mode. Run your cursor to the top of the page and click on the blue arrows on the right hand side.

  • When I click my home page icon the tab this is open goes to my home page BUT another new tab opens.

when I click my home page icon the tab that is open goes to my home page BUT another new tab opens. How do I stop the new tab from appearing?

It's easy to add extra tabs to your set of home pages. You can use the Options dialog to make sure there is only one. These articles point the way:
    * [[Startup, home page and download settings]]
    * [[How to set the home page]]
Because the space is short, you may want to select the whole home page URL (Ctrl+A) and paste it into a document or into a larger textbox like the one I'm typing in now. You're looking for a vertical bar (|) that is followed by a second URL.
If it's not part of your home page setting, the most likely cause for this change is a bad add-on that rode along with some free software.
    I suggest starting here:
Open Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
Then, in Firefox, open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible).
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that shut down the extra tab?

  • Hi i am working on my web site and it appears to have blocked the ip from my server i can't open my web sites and i cant open the server home page but can do this on my iPhone i have trend micro running on 2 other desk tops all from the same router please

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

  • When i want to return to my home page I click on the home icon and it resets the page to my home page but also open a blak tab which i don't want how can I stop this as i have too many tabs open.

When I want to return to my home page after looking at a website I click on the home icon and it resets the page to my home page but also open a blak tab which i don't want. How can I stop this as I have too many tabs open and have to close all of them.

You may have an unwanted extension that is modifying sites (or the toolbar area). Try this:
Disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable.
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
    Does that flush the tab?
Please report back on anything suspicious you find so others can learn about its bad behavior.

  • I set YAHOO as my home page, but it is only in the center with a white screen on both sides, how do I set to full page view without loosing my toolbars?

I set yahoo as my home page, but it only appears in the center with white screen on each side. I have tried to change to full view, but then loose my toolbar. Is there a way to change YAHOO to full screen and keep my toolbars?

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems: <b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)
You can ignore the RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555 error message in the Tools > Error Console<br />
That message is for site Administrators to alert them to update their server software.

  • Why does Firefox open 3 Tabs all the time when I open it? One is my home page but the other 2 are about plug in being installed. How do I make that stop?

When I double click Firefox to open it, 3 Tabs automatically open. One is my home page but the other 2 are about plug ins being successfully installed. I want for only my home page to open. How do I make this stop?

But there aren't any symbols. It's just set to http://www.yahoo.com
And every time I open Firefox, it opens with 3 Tabs, one of which IS Yahoo but the other 2 a regarding plug ins being successfully updated. I've even gone as far as to uninstall those plug ins and it still opens with 3. About ready to uninstall Firefox and stay with IE

  • When I open Safari why does it not open my pre-set home page, but instead opens multiple previously viewed web pages?

I open up Safari and expect it to go straight to my home page, but instead it seems to open any number of previously viewed web pages.  I have recently installed Lion and I don't recall this happening with Snow Leopard.  Any ideas...?

Hold down the shift key as you click the Dock icon. This will kill the automatic "resume" feature found in Lion.
Hold down the Option key when you use the Safari menu to quit the app. This will "discard windows".

  • I can get to website home pages but when I try to get to a logon screen, I get error msg "URL is not valid cannot open"

I cannot access certain pages such as facebook, yahoo, my bank. I sometimes get as far as their home page, but when required to say, go to mail... I get the url msg described above. Same thing when I try to login to online banking. Facebook I cannot login whatsoever. These are just 3 different sites I've tried so far.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Each time I open my Firefox browser, the tab from the last time opens. I have the browser set to open on my home page, not to the tab from the last time. I keep trying to save the setting for the browser to open on my home page but it doesn't.

Each time I open my Firefox browser, the tab from the last time opens. I have the browser set to open on my home page, not to the tab from the last time. I keep trying to save the setting for the browser to open on my home page but it doesn't.

Try to create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
