Help getting rid of Mavericks update

Hi
I recently purchased a Macbook Pro. When I went to download Pages, Numbers and Keynote it asked if I wanted an older version or the newer version that's supported by Mavericks. I said older but it started to download Mavericks anyway. I stopped the download but now in the Launchpad it has the beginning of the download. Is there any way to get rid of that? I know it's not a big deal but it's annoying to look at. Any suggestions?
Thanks!!!

Open Launchpad. Look for the Mavericks download icon. Then follow these directions:

    If restoring to the previous state from backup isn't an option (hopefully it is), it may be easier to try to resolve what is causing problems. It's possible that some incompatible software you have installed is messing with the smooth running of your Mac.
    Can you describe more fully what problems you are experiencing? You could also run EtreCheck and post the contents of its report here - it may reveal the cause as there is some software 'out there' that is known to create problems: http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck

  • How do i get rid of maverick? life use to be so simple?

    hi how do i get rid of maverick, life use to be so simple.  i don't want gmail or icloud and my mail is a mess.  can you help me remove maverick 1.0?
    thank you kindly,
    cairnberger

    Good idea. Reverting to a previous version of the OS is notoriously difficult. I'm contemplating doing it myself as I'm ... less than enchanted, let's say, with Mavericks. There are some real advantages but there are so very many disadvantages too.
    I've always said that I'm not an "early adopter" of anything for very good reason. Sadly, I violated my own rule this time. Foolish of me, I know, but here I am: stuck with a bunch of broken apps and plagued by a seemingly endless series of individually-minor-but-crippling-in-the-aggregate malfs.
    If you try it and it works, please post the procedure here.

    Only thing I can think of is trying this Lion trick...

  • Attempts to rebuild thumbnails did not work. How do I get rid of message "Updating thumbnails" every time I open iPhoto?

    After repairing and rebuilding the iPhoto libary/database, I attempted to rebuild the thumbnails on an older Mac Book (10.7.5) and iPhoto 9.0. I believe there was not enough disk space for this function. Now when I open iPhoto, I get the message "Updating thumbnails." I then need to hit "cancel" to open iPhoto, How can I get rid of the "Updating thmbnails" message?

    Basically none.
    That is the problem
    you need a minimum of 10GB of free space just for normal os - with little or none y0u risk damaging yoru iPhoto database and other important system components - you must make space immediately
    Exporting photos is not the solution - unless you can delete  some large files that are not needed The fastest way is to purchase an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended and move your iPhtoo library to it -
    Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
    And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
    And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
    I would not put my iphoto library on a flash drive - and usually they are not formated correctly wso will nto even work

    Help!! After Mavericks update: total loss of my 5TB  of Data on my Onnto-Data-Tale- Raid.

    You have the choice of waiting till the servers aren't as loaded or till they come up with a solution to fix the errors going on. As of now its difficult to determine whether the overloaded servers are the blame or whether the update is faulty and how much of your personal data you will lose. I only lost my apps which were all on my itunes so it wasn't much of a big deal.. You can always back up your data and then proceed to update if you feel thats a safer route but I read that some people had issues backing up their data before the upgrade as well.

  • Templates: how do I get rid of orphaned updates?

    I've made changes to my template, and then undone those changes.  However, the change still shows up in the child pages, greyed out, so I can't delete it.  This has to do with changes made outside <html> where I got the warning message:
    You have added or changed code outside the <html> tag.  This change will not be copied to documents based on the template unless you insert this tag in the <head> section of your template: <!--TemplateInfo codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="true"-->
    As an example, my template reads:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    I've bolded the problem section in the child pages (it's actually greyed out):
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/main_template.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <head>
    How do I get rid of the bold material in the child pages?  BTW, I have more than one instance of this happening, so my pages are cluttered.
    I deleted the line <!-- TemplateInfo codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="true" --> from my template and updated, but the bold  text  above still shows up in all the child pages.
    BTW, any new page I create from this template also has the bolded text in it, even though it's no longer in the template.
    Thank you for your help.

    This isn't an endorsement since I haven't used it.

  • Pre-owned macbook pro, how do I get rid of app updates for previous users?

    I have 2 updates in the app store that are flagged for updating, every time I click update it brings up a user that isn't me and I don't have the password for. How do I get rid of these? and ensure any update (e.g. iphotos is one of them) are for my apple id? Any help welcomed

    What you really need to do is wipe the drive completely by repartitioning it as one partition and then reinstall the original version of OS X that came on that Mac when it was shipped from the factory. Otherwise that system will always be tied to the original owner.
    How you do that depends on what version of OS X originally came on it when it was new. If Lion or Mountain Lion you use the online Internet recovery system. If it originally came with Snow Leopard then you should of gotten the original system discs that came with every Mac prior to Lion coming out. If you don't have those system discs you can order a replacement set from apple for a small fee.

  • How do I get rid of the update request on screen when I am running version 21

    How do I get rid of the request to update my version of Firefox below my search request on the front page when I have already updated to Firefox version 21. My search engine is http://www.google.co.uk/firefox
    Thanks for any help.

    Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
    *https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
    Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
    Current Firefox versions use the default search engine (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename) to set the search engine that is used on the about:home page.
    Check the <b>browser.search.defaultenginename</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and make sure that it is set to the default value Google.
    *browser.search.defaultenginename
    Currently selected search engine:
