Help going from Premiere to Encore
Hi all
Couple of questions guys before I get stuck into some blu-ray projects
I have a couple of HDV projects that I want to get onto a Blu-ray disc. I have a burner and a test timeline went well - using /export to encore/ with default settings for MPEG2 Blu-ray / direct burn no authoring.
However, if I want to get a few projects on one disc I need to export manually and use encore properly. From Premiere AME I am not sure whether to use the H264-Blu-ray option or the MPEG2-Blu-ray. I assume in either case I set the size to 1440x1080 to match hdv?
Looking at the settings, I think I will get a smaller filesize using H264 and I just know its gonna take longer, but is there anything else to consider - will h264 result in better quality on end disc?
Now when I get to Encore, should I change default settings for new Blu-ray project to 1440x1080 - or leave at default 1920x1440. I understand I need to stop encore from re trancoding.
Any pointers would be much appreciated
Thanks
Mike
One workflow to allow exact placement of your Chapters is to do each "chapter" as a Sequence and then Export/Import each as a Timeline.
Now, this is easy for me, as I edit my "chapters" as Sequences to begin with.
There will be no GOP problems with this method.
Good luck,

Settings from Premiere to Encore?
Hi everyone,
I just burned a DVD using the link from Premiere to Encore and it came out looking like crap. I have burned DVD's before and they never looked like this. It's alos taking a really long time to burn a half hour DVD. What are the settings you guys are using to make it look good? I know that going from HD video to SD on a DVD will give me some loss, but its never been this bad.
Here is what I am working with:
Source Format:
Type: MPEG Movie
File Size: 2.6 GB
Image Size: 1440 x 1080
Frame Rate: 29.97
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.3333
Sequence Settings:
Editing Mode: HDV 1080p
Timebase: 29.97
Frame Size: 1440x1080
Pixel Aspect: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333)
Video Previews:
Preview File Format: I-Frame Only MPEG
Codec: MPEG I-Frame
Width 1440
Height 1080
Max Bit Depth and Max Render QualityI was in a hurry; did not realize it was YOU! Too funny... (Sorry about that!)
I'm sure Jeff will join us here.
Your sequence setting is still 1080p; did he not recommend 1080i?
What is your latest export setting?
The burn time is not based on the duration of the video, but how full the disk is and the burn speed. -
Exporting from PREMIERE to ENCORE (Correct Settings for crisp and clear DVD playback)
Please help. I have tried exporting a Premiere CS6 movie project to Encore, and when I play the burnt Encore DVD on my DVD player, it plays back fuzzy and it actually bounces. Here is my question: What are the correct Premeire CS6 export settings/ Encore DVD burning settings to get a normal, crisp and clear DVD playback?
This project is due tomorrow!!! Any help is much appreciated!Export from Premiere as MPEG2-DVD.
Import and burn resulting file(s) in Encore.
You can twerk your Bitrate Settings on export to increase quality. -
Export from Premiere to Encore to create a Blu-ray
Hi!
I've imported in Encore CS4 an HDV footage that I've edited in Premiere CS4. The footage was exported using Blu-ray H264 settings. I inserted the video and audio file into the project, I burned fine the Blu-ray, but the final result was that the entire footage was interlaced, so not "cinema-like". Is there a way to deinterlace my footage in Premiere or Encore so that the final Blu-ray is in progressive format? I've tried Red Giant Frames, but it seemes that Encore doens't mind of my settings and re-encode everything as he wants.
Maybe I wasn't so clear, so sorry for my english, but I'm italian. Thanks for the answers. Bye!Premiere Pro CS4.01 has a new sequence and export option: Maximum Render Quality. It provides good quality deinterlacing and scaling from inside of Premiere. There are ways to deinterlace the footage external to Premiere that produce higher quality results, but that's a whole different workflow with several different tools.
Make sure to select Max Render Quality in your sequence settings, and then make sure that the Adobe Media Encoder has the same setting checked. (Look in the flyout/wing menu of the codec settings section of the AME.)
Be prepared for long render times.
You don't want to deinterlace in Premiere without Maximum Render Quality selected - your exported video will lose half of its resolution and will look terrible. -
How to send Video from Premiere to Encore via Dynamic Link
Hi there. So I have the adobe suite for students, and I have a project in Premiere Pro, that I would like to make into a DVD. I have exported before with MPEG-2 DVD, but that takes a lot of time and energy, and I don't think the export is as good as it could be (quality-wise). So I would like to use Dynamic Link between Premiere and Encore, but when I go to File-Adobe Dynamic Link- the Dynamic link option is greyed out and I can't click on it which would let me choose "Send to Encore". How can I make this option not greyed out and send it to Encore? Thank you so much for your time!
As the source is HD, then the output should be 16:9 widescreen, but you listed it as 4:3.
In AME, choose "MPEG-2 DVD" and then "NTSC DV Wide Progressive" preset.
Besides bitrate, generally don't touch other sliders unless you are experienced, use defaults.
You CAN use the "Max Render Quality" checkbox at the bottom, as that helps with the downscale quality.
While DVDs can theoretically handle a max data rate of roughly 10Mbps (video and audio together), not a good idea to push that limit - as mentioned previously, some players may choke on playback with burned media. Most users have stick to a maximum of 7 or 8 for the video encoding, and then use Dolby audio (Encore will automatically transcode PCM to Dolby).
For longer videos over an hour, you may need to lower the bitrate to fit the material on the DVD. 560/minutes = bitrate works pretty well, just round down a little for safety margin. Example: 560/120=4.66 so use 4.5 average and good to go!

Audio problem going from Premiere 6.0 to Premiere Pro
When I go from Premiere 6.0 to Premiere Pro the audio is messed up. I figured how to make the audio okay at one point ... something to do with 48k, importing or exporting. But I forget what I did. Does anyone know that specific routine?
Hi
Both machines have V7 of Quicktime Pro on them.
Thanks -
Hi everyone,
I have a good question, hopefully it's a Premiere question, but it's also an Encore question.
First off, I have my video project, simple segments of video, that I've added to my timeline, and I've added a simple
title to the whole thing ( entire length of videos )
So far so good.
So what I did was export the project to Encore, where it loaded fine, and in Encore I worked on making a simple DVD menu for the movie.
I did about 2 hours on the DVD menu, and then saved the Encore project.
.... then I realized that the video project in Premiere needed some tweeking, so I went back and did that. I saved the Premiere project
and now I'm stumped as what to do next.
After I saved the newly tweeked Premiere project, I exported it to Encore, and of course, as I knew it would happen, Encore opened up
a new project with none of my menu system I had made for the DVD. Argh, now I'm very disappointed..... HOW would I go about getting
the DVD menu to work with the newly tweeked Premiere project ?
I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong, and that there is indeed a way to fix this. I'm really really hoping so.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Dave.Hi Dave, To be honest Colin's way is the correct way to do it and it has worked so you should probably do it that way. I just like to
take the full control back so if I do make changes I like to give it another version number and then match that version number in my
new saved Encore project taken from the original. It is also the very last thing I do as well so I just find that workflow means I
control every asset and version but no doubt about it Colin's way is the correct method and the one that allows all
changes within Adobe to reflect through. Cheers, Steve. -
Newbie Question - Creating DVD from Premiere to Encore with 2 audio tracks
Hello and thanks for your time,
I'm pretty new to all this but seem to be getting the hang of things pretty well but one problem I'm having I can't seem to find an answer to.
In Premiere I am creating a dvd of a football game, i have the video with an audio track of the crowd and another audio track of the commentary. These are all edited together fine and work well. I then use the dynamic link to send the sequence to Encore and that's where the problem occurs.
I can't seem to get both audio tracks to appear in Encore? Any suggetions or tips on where I might find an answer?
cheers for the help and time
IanIan,
This is not a cure to the issue, but is a workaround. It's the "old-fashioned" way that things were done before DL.
Export your Sequence as elemental streams, i.e. video-only and audio-only. Import your video-only file into Encore as a Timeline, and teh audio-only file as an Asset. From Project Panel, drag the audio to the appropriate timeline. Done.
Now, exactly what you choose for your Export and even how you do this will depend on your Project in PrPro and also your source Assets. For SD material, I'd choose DV-AVI Type II video-only (no multiplexing), and for the Audio 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV. If you have a version of PrPro prior to CS4, just Export Movie (settings above) for the Video and Export>Movie (or AME) for the Audio (settings above). Just make sure that the Export Video is checked for the DV-AVI, but the Export Audio is not. Change these two checkboxes for the Audio.
Now, for DL not working, as it should, what is the format of your source Audio? Do you have any Channel-mapping used? Does your Audio Mixer Panel show everything right there? Do you have one Audio Track either Muted, or Bypassed. Look in Audio Mixer, to make sure you do not have one Track Solo'ed.
Also, what version are you using, CS3, or CS4? Note: for CS4, you will use AME for the Exporting in the first part of the post.
Good luck,
Hunt

In need of help going from Windows SAP GUI to Mac/Java SAP GUI 7.20
Hi Everyone, first post...I want to thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.
I got everything working except for 1 out of 6 servers I need to connect to - of course this is the most important one.
It all comes down to the conversion of saplogon.ini to the new file format, instead of using the GUI to make a list I have created 6 individual .sapc files that I run directly. I found some converters but only had so much success with them, nothing solid and 100% full proof.
I'm going to post my windows config files and maybe you can tell me why logging into this system GP8 doesn't work from my mac?

Edited by: nstabl on Feb 27, 2012 10:07 PMHello John,
please try the "SAP GUI for Java Configuration Generator Scripts" available at http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-25456#section9 .
For using the message server to connect to GP8, the information of the port number of the message server for GP8 is missing. For direct connection to GP8, it might work to use the connection string "conn=/H/gp8001.trans.de/S/3288" .

Problems rendering and exporting from Premiere Pro, Encore CS 6
I am having a problem with Premiere Pro and Encore CS6 . In Premiere Pro, my preview files do not get saved and I need to re-render each time I open the project. When the project opens it shows mainly red bars separated by blank (uncoloured) space. I am currently attempting to re-render this project, and it is stuck at 0.01%. In Encore, when I open my project I get the message The transcoded Dynamic Link asset _______ has changed on the server. Would you like to reimport it? I select yes, but am unable to preview the project, probably because it is unrendered in Premiere. When I attempt to build a DVD the building initiates and then freezes. I have the project set up correctly and no issues come up when i go through 'check project'. I've searched forums for solutions to these problems, but haven't been able to resolve the issues. please help! My computer is an IBM ThinkPad LENOVO W510 with 16GB RAM. The premiere project is linked to After Effects compositions
Hi Else,
Footage is encoded ONCE. Since the "MPEG-2 for DVD" file that you create in AME is DVD-legal, when you import into Encore, you will see next to it "Don't Transcode", it just uses the file as is. The .wav audio will be transcoded to Dolby AC-3 automatically when you build the disc in Encore.
So in AME, for Format, choose "MPEG-2 DVD", then choose a Preset to match your footage type, such as "NTSC Widescreen High Quality". Under VIDEO tab, you can adjust the data rate. For a short program, just choose CBR (Constant Bit Rate) and a setting of 7 or 8. Nothing else to touch in there, just choose a filename and destination and encode. Will create .m2v video and .wav audio clips. In Encore, use Import > As Tineline" and select both clips.
If source project is HD, then at bottom of encoder window, select "Max Render Quality", as this helps with downscaling quality.
If you say what the source sequence settings are I can be more specific on output settings.
Thanks

Quality loss from Premiere to Encore
Hello,
I am working on a project in Premiere with these settings. The project consists of a PowerPoint presentation that was created into a video file. In premiere I inserted AVCHD video clips over the parts of the presentation that required video parts. I am trying to create a DVD of this project and no matter what I do, the quality (mainly the text on the PowerPoint slides) has a good amount of quality loss...
I've tried using the dynamic link straight to Encore, but the quality almost seems the worst doing this.
I've tried MPEG-2 settings. The quality is a little better, but still not crisp like in Premiere.
What else can I try?? Thanks!!Ok, I tried what you recommended and the text still wasn't crisp with the short piece exported. I have to scale it because the source is 960x720, and the framerate stayed the same as 30fps. I need this to be crisp and I'm not sure what else to do :/
It looks perfectly fine in Premiere and even when I export it as a QuickTime format with full quality, it looks great. But as soon as I bring the .mov into Encore it looks terrible... I try DVD and Blu-Ray

Help going from Lightroom to Photoshop w/ raw
I recently updated to PS 5 and LR 3. I'm need some help with working with RAW files. When in go to work on a RAW file from LR, when PS opens the image the image adjustment menu doesn't appear in PS. When I open a RAW image directly in PS the adjustment menu is attached right to the image. When I go from LR to PS the menu doesn't appear. Is there a way to get menu to appear? Is there a reason why it doesn't ? Hope this makes sense.
I don't use Lightroom but would venture a guess or two. If you open a raw file in Lightroom and use Lightroom Develop module then use lightroom to open that image in Photoshop as image or as a smart object there is no reason to need the ACR window for the RAW file been through Adobe RAW conversion engin. There are ACR settings set and there may even be a rgb image in memory. Therefore there is no reason to display the ACR user interface the RGB Image can be passed or the ACR settings and RAW data can be passed the Adobe RAW conversions which can produce the RGB images to be edit. If you open the RAW image as a smart object if you double click on the smart object icon in the smart object layer in the Layers palette the ACR user interface will open so you can make adjustment fot the smart object which you must have ACR open in photoshop and use Photoshop save to have Photoshop undate the enbedded smart objects ACR setting. The interface the will open will be ACR user interface not Develop module interface.

Help going from 10.2.8 to 10.4
I purchased a copy of 10.4 from apple.com and inserted the DVD in the drive and the installer does not show up. I tried troubleshooting (booting from the disk, which I am not sure I did right) and that did not work either. Any help on how to force the computer to boot from the disk or some other thing I may be missing would be helpful. I am a mac novice and need help!!
Insert the DVD in the drive. When it has mounted, tell the computer to Restart. As soon as you hear the "bong", hold down the C key on your computer. Keep holding it down until you see the "spinning icon" on the screen and you hear the DVD drive working, indicating that you are starting up from the DVD. The installer will then run automatically.
If trouble persists, in your next message, specify just what kind of computer this is. -
Need help going from as2 to as3 with root
Hi guys I'm only just getting into AS2, back then I would use _root to access the root of the timeline.
I am trying ot do the same thing in AS but have been unsuccesful
I've tried
MovieClip(root).myinstancename_mc.gotoAndStop(2);
but get
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at myfile_fla::viewback_mc_5/manageMouseClick()[myfile_fla.viewback_mc_5::frame1:8]
Any help would be greatif you had a movieclip with instance name myinstancename_mc on the root timeline when that code executed, you wouldn't see that error message. ie, there's nothing wrong with your syntax.
the most common problems would be typos, myinstancename_mc in more than one keyframe and myinstancename_mc not existing when that code executes. -
