HELP!!!! GoLive CS2 to Dreamweaver CS4
I've been using Go Live for sometime I've just purchased a new computer and upgraded all of my softwarre. Go Live won't work on the new computer so I'm having to work out how to use Dreamweaver which is a pain! As a priority I'd like to convert all sites I've produced in GoLive to Dreamweaver. So far I'm not having much luck, possibly due to the unfamiliarity with Dreamweaver. Can someone give me a dummys guide to converting the Go Live sites over to Dreamweaver.
Thanks
Mark
MAB34,
GLCS2 has been running fine on 10.6.7 for me on a 27" iMac (2010) so I would think it should work for you.
It won't work on Lion of course but since your post was before Lion was released this obviously isn't your problem.

Migrating GoLive CS2 to Dreamweaver 8
Am looking for some resources with tips on migration of sites
from GoLive CS2 to Dreamweaver. E.g. conversion of site tips,

No such company name as MicroSoft.

Are you sure you would get an .ste file at the end of this
process? Or
would you just get a DW site?

Does GL use .lbi files?

Upgrade from GoLive Cs2 to Dreamweaver
Can I upgrade from Golive CS2 to DW CS3 using DW SC3 upgrade
package or do I have to buy the full blown DW CS3 software?I believe you need to buy the full version from what I am
seeing on the website. However, in this case I would recommend
contacting the Adobe sales team as their may be unadvertised
promotions for switching from GL to DW. -

I got the extension to convert GL to DW. It stalls right near
the end, and tells me, on two separate warning boxes, that an

minutes, each time, and then it progresses to the end of the

2. Is there another way to import the site?
Thanks so much.

GoLive CS2 DOES run on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
I recently purchased CS6 Master Collection for a new workstation, determined to finally make the switch from GoLive CS2 to Dreamweaver CS6. I built my first web site with GoLive, and although I chose at the time to forego all of GoLive's drag and drop capability, choosing instead to code my HTML and CSS by hand, I did learn early on to take full advantage of the Template functionality, a real timesaver. Regardless of what ANYBODY says about the migration path from GoLive to Dreamweaver, NONE of them work worth a damn, and as a career SW engineer, I think it's sorry that Adobe hasn't done better, because they could have. Like many of you long-time GoLive users out there, I searched the internet and this forum high and low for a single helpful post that would allow me to migrate my web sites to DW. The migration tools Adobe provides, both the one for GoLive CS2 to export a DW site (yeah, right) and the extension for DW CS6, are all but useless. The one for GoLive skips template files and deletes code from the HTML. The one in DW CS6 complains about 'locked regions' in templates, just before it crashes. It never even completes. In trying to migrate my site, Adobe couldn't even handle a site made up of pure HTML, CSS, and a little handcoded Javascript thrown in, and which uses ONLY templates (no components, snippets, or dropped items, or special GoLive generated code). It would take me weeks to do this by hand.
Well, since I don't have 2 weeks or a month to fix a web site that already works, I focused on getting GoLive CS2 to run on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS, since I had been hearing rumors of problems, or where it didn't run at all. However, with the help of many others, and in particular a forum contributor called Cinti on a Microsoft forum, of all places (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/windows-7-is-n ot-compatible-with-adobe-photoshop/6f1b4955-7166-4b8f-ad9b-5d19150f803f?page=2), I was able to get GoLive loaded and working without any issues, just as it did under Windows XP Pro. I had a bit of an issue, however, since I found out when I upgraded from CS to CS2 way back when that the installer would not actually read from a CD drive, even though you must insert Disk 1 of CS in a CD drive for verification of your upgrade, unless you already have CS installed on your machine, which I didn't in this case. If you face this problem, here is what I did to make it work, and this is prior to the hint needed that Cinti provided
(1) Create an ISO image of the CS Installation Disk 1 and save it to your hard drive somewhere. You can do this with most CD/DVD burning SW, like Nero, Roxio, etc. Just create a standard ISO image file. It's a file with an .iso extension, and is basically an image of the CD, but not one that Explorer can browse.
(2) Download a free copy of Daemon Tools lite (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/products/dtLite), which has the capability to 'mount' this ISO image, and present it to your OS as a real (actually virtual) CD drive. This allows the installer to be able to read from a CD drive, since it can't read from an actual physical CD drive on your system. I got this whole workaround about using a virtual CD from Adobe, btw, so it's a known problem.
This will let you get your upgrade verification out of the way, if you run into it. Next, the CS2 installer will present you with a screen asking where you'd like to install the CS2 program files. The default it shows (at least for me) is C:\Program Files\Adobe. However, on Win7 64bit, this folder is reserved for ONLY 64 bit applications. There is another folder, C:\Program Files (x86) that is reserved for 32 bit applications, like GoLive. Unfortunately, as Cinti correctly points out, if you put this text in the box, the installer complains about invalid characters. Cinti also added two too many characters in the name before the ~ too, it can only have 8 total (as part of the 8.3 file naming syntax), and since the 64 bit folder is Progra~1, the one we want is Progra~2. What I found that works is the following:
(1) When the dialog appears asking for the folder in which to install CS2, click on Browse, and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86), which is then filled into the box automatically for you.
(2) Edit that text to read (exactly) C:\Progra~2\Adobe CS2. If you do anything other than this, the Next button will not be active. If that happens, just restart the installer and try again.
(3) Click Next to continue with the installation. At this point, you might want to select only GoLive to install, unless you want all of CS2 to install.
Upon completion, I found that GoLive works as expected without issue. I'm very happy now, and can focus on more important things than trying to do Adobe's job of migration for them. Perhaps by CS 13 Adobe will have fixed their miserable migration scripts. In the meantime, why not just "Don't worry, be happy!"
Cheers,

Launch Dreamweaver CS4 and open a specific site
One of my stumbling blocks in moving from GoLive 9 to Dreamweaver CS4 is finding a way to have Dreamweaver open a specific site at launch time. GoLive has a "name.site" file that contains site-specific information. Double-clicking that GoLive site file launches GoLive (or switches to the running application) and makes that site the current/frontmost site.
With Dreamweaver, I can double-click a page in a site and launch Dreamweaver. However, Dreamweaver's active site is the one that was active at the end of the last Dreamweaver session.
Is there a way to launch Dreamweaver and have it automatically open a specific site?
-- BarneySay, if they do something like that for the already existing .ste files, then it might just encourage some people to export/backup their site definitions. Although I would probably never think to doubleclick one of them, that is still a good idea.

HELP! GoLive CS2 quits when I try to create a new file
This is the first time I try GoLive. I purchased the CS2 suite a while back but this is the first time I try to run GoLive CS2. When I run it, the main window comes up and I can bring up the preferences window or help, but if I select FILE -> NEW, the windows dissapears (process dissapears) (and the help window remains... :)).
HELP!! Anyone know what's going on? There are no error messages. I'm running Windows XP SP3 with a 2.3GHZ Intel Core Duo with 4GB memory.
Thanks

Can't open site in GoLive CS2, error (-5000) help!
I've created 7 different sites with GoLive CS2 over the years and they are all files on my Mac laptop. I went to open one that I haven't had to change in a while and I can't, I just get a window with this, "Could not open Document, OS Error (-5000)" So is this a GoLive error or something with my Mac OSX system? I can't open any completed GoLive CS2 sites with Dreamweaver, only page by page and then I can't upload the changes since my site FTP info is in the GoLive version websites. Of the 7 sites, I can only open 3.
Help please...
Dee DeeTangledRibbon wrote:

FTP user account info is portable. Find out what the user name and password is for the accounts and enter them in Dreamweaver.
You do not mention what version of OS X you are using but it is highly likely that a user of a newer Mac is going to have troubles with GoLive. It was written for older Macs. -
GoLive to Dreamweaver CS4 - Rollovers
I have recently moved to Dreamweaver CS4 from GoLive and I'm trying to figure out how to make a rollover. In the site created in GoLive, it was a rollover object where you would have your original image and a second image when moused over and the second image could have a link connected to it. How do I go about setting this up and what is it called in Dreamweaver? I have the book, "Dreamweaver CS4, The Missing Manual" and I'm not sure what to look for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cannot cannect to a particular ftp via both Dreamweaver 8 & GoLive CS2
OK, my trouble is a little complicated.
I have two different FTP servers: One is provided by
Dreamhost, another is provided by Startlogic.
Suddenly, it became unable to connect to Startlogic's ftp in
Dreamweaver MX2004. So, I upgraded to 8 in order to see if it works
again. No, it is no longer able to work on ftp connection. My ftp
setting is just correct. By the way, my OS is Windows 2000.
Here's the error message: "The connection to the remote host
has been lost. Click refresh to reconnect."
Then, I click "OK" and I get this error message: "togglinng
the 'Use Passive FTP" check box may help you establish a
connection. Select or de-select the checkbox and click Test to try
again. If the problem persists, check your network setting,
including the local firewall settings on your computer, or consult
your network administrator."
So, I did what the message instructed
Then, I get another long error message: "An FTP error
occurred. - cannot get a remote folder information. Dreamweaver
could not connect to the server. This may be due to one or more of
the following reasons: ...."
On the other hand, there is no problem with Dreamhost ftp. I
have tried to test with different applications such as GoLive CS2
and a generic ftp application. Only Startlogic's ftp does not work
on both Dreamweaver and GoLive, but it works on ta generic ftp
application.
I tried to connect to Startlogic's ftp on a ftp application
from a different computer. It was a success. I have not tested
Dreamweaver and GoLive though.
I have some other accounts of Startlogic's ftp and tried to
test those ftp. None of them worked via Dreamweaver on my computer.
Now, I don't understand why I cannot connect to only
Startlogic's ftp with Dreamweaver 8 & GoLive CS2. Is it my
computer's fault? Is it caused by some bugs on Dreamweaver 8 &
GoLive CS2? I asked Startlogic's tech support but they said that
they could connect to my ftp. I don't have firewall software
installed. My router might have though. My network admin has no
idea why it causes this.
Should I reinstall those Dreamweaver 8 & GoLive CS2
anyway?
Thank you for your help in advance. The answer is always the same. Check your firewall for its
interference.

Dreamweaver CS4 Errors, Spry widget not working. Please Help!
I am redesigning a website and downloaded an html file from the present contact page. I opened it in Dreamweaver and I started to have this errors. The html file I opened has some JavaScripts in it and I believe, the the scripts got a conflict with Dreamweaver CS4. I already deleted these files I tried to open and still I'm encountering these errors.
These are the errors I'm getting:
1. When I open the Dreamweaver, this message pop-ups:
"While executing onLoad in RecordsetFind.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
In file "RecordsetFind"
findRs is not defined."
2. I click OK. Then I'm getting this message:
"While executing onLoad in Design Notes_onOpen.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
In file "Design Notes_onOpen"
onOpen is not defined."
3. I just click OK. Then, when I open an html file to edit or create a new one, this error pops up again:
"While executing onLoad in Design Notes_onOpen.htm, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
In file "Design Notes_onOpen"
onOpen is not defined."
4. I will again just click OK, then this error appears:
"The following translators were not loaded due to errors:
Coldfusion.htm: has configuration information that is invalid.
SpryWidget.htm: has configuration information that is invalid."
5. Then, I will just click OK again. Then, when I'm working with the projects or creating a new project with Spry, it is not working properly anymore. I have to go the code and update the Spry list or content manually.
6. When I close Dreamweaver, I'm always having this error:
"While executing onLoad in TeamAdminTempDelete.html, the following JavaScript error(s) occured:
In file "TeamAdminTempDelete"
delTempFile is not defined"
I tried uninstalling the Dreamweaver and installing it again, but it did not work.
What should I do to make the spry working again and to remove all these annoying errors? By the way, all my Spry widgets are not working and these errors I'm encountering in all of the Sites I'm working on. How can I make it work again? I tried looking for troubleshoot in CS4, but I could not see one, only in CS3.
Please help.See if the following helps (found in Dreamweaver FAQ)

HELP DREAMWEAVER CS4 NOT SHOWING SWF FILES
I have a presentation in 2 days in Tokyo. And I'm panicking.
I'm on am Intel Mac OS X 10.4.11.
I have the latest version of Flash Player 10 installed. (Not the brand new beta version).
I created a great website in Dreamweaver MX a few years ago.
I never had ANY issues with .swf files displaying until using Dreamweaver CS4.
I updated my photography portfolios in Adobe Bridge, and used Dreamweaver CS4 to link the updates.
NOTHING MORE THAN THAT!
Then, NONE of the .swf files that were always viewable are showing.
There is absolutely NO Flash content showing on any page of the site now.
Not even in browser view in Safari, or Firefox.
I uploaded the files along with the newly created SCRIPTS folder to my server, and still no .swf files are viewable.
These are NOT FLV files they are .swf files that were imbedded properly, and were always viewable. Until now.
I have to go to Tokyo in two days and give a presentation of this site.
What is the problem?
The attached files show the view in Dreamweaver CS4. The view in Safari, and the view in Firefox.
I'm screwed for a desperately needed job in Tokyo if I can't get this fixed ASAP.
Please help.i think you are on to something here. but i am not sure how to go about fixing this.
are you saying the "../s
should be replaced with "S
where is this code located? in the source code of each page that has the swf files? i should replace it with the correct version you copy and pasted? and that should resolve the problem?
big thanks if this is the issue.

The correct link to that file would be this -
