HELP! Graphics driver crash

Hi there, i just build myself a new PC. This is my first 64 bit so i didn't expect it to go smoothly, that's why i am here :(.
The problem i seem to have is whenever i try to install my graphics drivers, after it reboots the graphics card displays up to the "windows XP" loading boot screen, then just goes completely blank.
I tried using a different monitor, and using the secondary graphics port on the gfx card, to no avail. Anyone know what's going on?  :(
GFX card = leadtek nvidia 6800 std 128Mb (OEM)
Motherboard = msi ms-7025 nforce 3 mainboard
Thanks in advance,
Ed

Updated to Premiere 5.0.2 and Media Encoder 5.0.1 - when I export (inside Premiere as well as sending to Media Encoder, Premiere/Media Encoder freezes up and I get a Windows message to say that the Graphics driver has crashed and it has successfully recovered.  Reverted back to Premiere 5.0.1 and can successfully export without issues. Anyone experiencing similar problems?  I have latest WHQL release Nvidia driver which has not given any hassles.

Does your error message look like this?

I have the same graphics card (GTS 250) and I have had some problem as well.
Here is a thread that I started when I found issue related to the GPU and large image files: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/673072?tstart=0
Here is another thread that I have been contributing to...the person that started the thread has the same graphic card as well: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3102758
I had mixed results from the update to 5.02, but the cons out weigh the pros when the hack is considered.  So, I have since decided to wait until I can afford a supported card...hoping that will help.  Below is what I posted on the last forum that I provided the link to.  It illustrates my results with the update and different drivers.  I would love to figure out how to make the GTS 250 reliable, please post any new findings that might be helpful.  Thank you.

I have found problems with the Nvidia driver 258.? on my machine.  While I did gain some marginal ability to work with larger images using the GPU, I started to get frequent OpenGL error messages and crashing in After Effects with the updated driver, so I have reverted back to version 197.? and all seems to be well again.
It makes me worry using the "hack" on video jobs.  The hack is fun to play with to see how well the playback can be using the GPU, but I don't want to work on time sensitive material always wondering if something I add to the timeline will cause it to crash, or worse, corrupt a project file.  For me, I don't think the benefits out weigh the downside of the "hack".
I have considered using the "hack" on video only projects, but I don't know if the problems will eventually turn up on long projects or not.  Most of my most recent projects have been fairly short.  I do realize that my large images  that have causing the crashes are huge (approx. 4300 x 2800), but in software only mode they are not a problem at all...really smooth.  If I had more time, I would fine the maximum image size that I could work with without causing my system to crash, but I don't have that much time to play with it.  It seems that the smaller the image, the longer it takes to make it crash, but eventually, I can always make it crash.  So, I wonder if any image size could be a problem, but it just takes longer for the crash to occur?
I really wish that someone with a supported card would try some large images and run it through some testing.  Once I get a supported card, my large images will be my first test.  If it crashes with a supported card, I'm not going to be real happy.  Some have suggested the problem may be the amount of RAM on my GTS 250, but my card has 1GB, which is about how much many of the supported cards have.
I am wondering if the GTS 250 just doesn't have enough muscle to work with the images?  Anyone with a supported card want to give it a go?  The time would be greatly appreciated.

I have the latest Intel Graphic Driver but sometimes, and quite randomly the driver crashes when I unsleep the tablet.
I happens about 50% of the times my tablet goes to sleep.
    Detailed explanation:
The tablet goes to sleep. When I wake it either with the power button or with the front button it takes 5 seconds for the screen to go on and a ballon appears saying "Driver stopped responding and has recovered" for my "Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver for Windows 8" . And 1 out of 10 times it cannot recover: blue screen of death telling to look up igdkmd64.sys!
Does anybody know how to repair this?

  • T61p Graphics Driver crash on Resume from sleep, intermittent BSOD

    I have a T61p type 6458-BS9 with S/N L3-xxxxx, built August 2008.BIOS version is 2.21
Every time the PC wakes up from sleep, I get a message that the graphics driver has "succesfully recovered" (i.e. it crashed). One out of every three times, the PC wakes up, but the screen stays black and I have to forcefully reboot the PC. At regular intervals, I also have a BSOD referring to the same NVidia driver.
The driver installed is the latest version on the website, 175.97 which dates back to June.
I don't play games, so the other "resolved" issue on this thread does not seem to apply.
Does anybody know how resolve this issue?

    Hi,
I too have exactly the same problem with display corruption after waking from sleep (X200 7454-CTO - windows 7 X64). I have disabled the intel VT extensions in the BIOS but the problem still occurs.
I have now installed the latest display driver from intel's site (8.15.10.1986) to avoid using the Lenovo 1968 packaged driver. This means I have lost the on-screen brightness display functionality but I can live without that. I will let you know if I have more problems using this driver.
I assume this problem will get fixed at some point as presumabley those customers who ordered X200's with windows 7 preinstalled will be having the same problems?

  • Graphics driver crashing on new MBPr 15" w/ discrete graphics.

I bought the 15" MBPr w/ discrete graphics card a few days ago and installed Windows 7 via boot camp. Everything was working initially but my graphics drivers began crashing repeatedly. I restarted my computer which stopped it for a while. In this time I did things from school work to play video games without any problems. The next day after starting it up again the drivers began crashing over and over again. Has anyone else had this issue? I tried updating the graphics driver but received an error saying the card i

If you've had the problem from day one, then yes, I think an RMA sounds like a good course of action. It sounds like you've done everything you can by changing the drivers, updating the VBIOS, and so on. Only thing I can suggest is to uninstall the current graphics drivers, run >>Driver Sweeper<<, and then install the latest drivers again. I'd suggest installing the latest patches for the games you play, but if they all freeze then it's obviously not a game issue.

  • Firefox 5 is causing my Intel graphics driver (it is up to date) to crash - never had a problem with Firefox 2, 3, or 4.

Having repeated intel graphics accelerator driver crashes - screen goes black and it recovers - get little error message screen as what happened. Happens frequently. I have done driver scans and everything is up to date. Did not have this problem with firefox 4

This is my problem too. I saw a post about a computer crash above. I found if I wait (various periods of time) the computer restores and firefox stays broken. Although being impatient, I would reboot the computer anyway.
I HAVE SWITCHED TO CHROME until this problem is resolved. You can import all your bookmarks and passwords and live happily ever after. When and If this problem is resolved, I may switch back (been loyal for years and years).. if it takes too long, I'll probably just stay with chrome as my new browser.
I have also seen a similar screen to the "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" that scared me, but it was a graphic driver crash warning (windows 7) nothing more. However I did pee myself a little.
For a while I thought my graphics card was overheating or something, but found the crashes coincided with firefox boot. That's when I discovered this thread. Thanks folks for posting.

  • Qosmio X505-Q870 Graphics Constantly Crashing

    Hey guys,
I purchased by laptop mid-March and since late-April, this odd behavior has been occuring.
So, while I'm doing work on the laptop (regardless of game, autocad, or just document work) sometimes, the screen will go black, it'll come back on without any card running, go black, and then come back up with a little notice at the right bottom corner of Windows saying that the NVIDIA graphic driver crashed and has been restored.
    Anyone know what's up?
I paid 1.5 grand for this and am worried that there may be a problem with the graphic card.
    Thanks.
    OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

I still have this same problem.  If you get any resolution to this, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Help! Recovering after hard drive crash? Saving backups??

My drive crashed a few weeks ago and I lost everything I'd created with iWeb 2008. I downloaded all the files from my website, thinking I could just recompile it in iWeb, but iWeb doesn't even have and "open file" option. Am I just screwed? Do I have to start over from scratch?
Also, why doesn't iWeb allow you to save a backup of your working document??? If I could have done that, I wouldn't be in this mess!

Ray ~ See this Apple doc:
_iWeb ’08: Backing up your Domain file_
Another free option for backup is this:
    http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • X1 Carbon 3rd.gen Chrome crashes on Youtube videos after Intel HD Graphics Driver 10.18.14.42 update

    Hi!
Chrome crashes at Youtube videos after Intel HD Graphics Driver 10.18.14.4206 update on Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd.gen. Since the driver update yesterday, laptop starts suddenly to overheat enormously and become super-noisy as soon as I try to open a Youtube video , no matter on Youtube page, or a external provider with embded youtube video. Chrome becomes unresponsible and has to be terminated. Laptop continues to use fan at extreme level for abot 20 more seconds and then cools down. IE plays youtube videos without problem and all the other videos from Facebook i.e. are playing. Tried original and also Beta version of Chrome, which doesn't help.
    Kind regards,Daniil

Hey guys, T450s user here. I think I found an even better workaround for this issue without having to disable hardware acceleration and lower the performance of Chrome as a whole. After long trial and error I found the that driver-related issue is generally narrowed-down to HTML5 acceleration for video playback. By installing the following Chrome Extension I was able to revert YouTube back to the old Flash-based YouTube player and now even 4K playback is absolutely stellar on my T450s running the latest .4222 driver directly from Intel's site! https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24964/Intel-Iris-Iris-Pro-and-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-7-8-8-1-64-bit This is of course by no means a fix of any kind but I think it is the best workaround that we have to this date without having to sacrifice performance in Chrome as a whole. Try it out guys! https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/disable-youtube-html5-pla/enmofgaijnbjpblfljopnpdogpldapoc?utm_source=chrome-app-launcher-info-dialog

  • Hard drive crashed awhile ago, got new one but now some of my purchased iTunes songs are showing they are downloaded but NOT in library and it won't let me download to library.  any help?

Asking for help getting previous purchases on my ipod touch and iPad... my computer hard drive crashed and I replaced it.  My music was a mess.  I restored most back but some of my purchased music is saying it is downloaded but it is nowhere to be found.  I don't understand why I can't get the music I already paid for back in my library.  Any help?   would be appreciated...

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Are you doing this?
You have to sign in and download each iTunes account individually.

  • Can anyone help me to transfer everything I have on my Ipad on to a new computer.  my hard drive crashed and a new one was installed and I do not want to loose all my apps or music.  Please help

    Hi everyone,
I am looking for help and maybe someone can help me please.  My hard drive crashed and dell installed a new one.  I have two iphones and an ipad with all my apps, music, amd photos.  Can anyone indicate me what to do so I do not lose everything when I plug in my phone.  Thanks

Naturally you should have a recent backup of your "crashed" hard drive. If you don't, well, hopefully you've learned a lesson but that doesn't solve your current problem.
If all your apps and media were purchased from the iTunes App Store, don't worry about them. Redownload all your apps and media, then allow iTunes to sync with and wipe your iOS devices - which will also put all the apps and media on them. You'll lose your settings, and any data which resided only on the iOS devices, and of course you'll need to organize your iOS folders and home screens and whatnot. But you won't really lose much, and without a backup this is your best choice.
If you have media from sources other than the iTunes App Store, look at Senuti or similar applications designed to copy media from iOS devices to computers. Use that first, then sync as I described in my second paragraph above. (I mention Senuti because it's popular. There are other options which work just as well, and some are even free.)

  • Hard drive crash need help with new iTunes load and backup files

I have looked through the posts and not found my situation.
I had my iPhone synced to a PC computer and the hard drive crashed. I had an extensive library in iTunes, but none of the music was purchased online so I can't simply download it again. It was all from CD's, many of which belonged to friends. I now have an iMac. The music I like is still on my iPhone, but not on my new iMac. When I try to sync the iPhone with my iMac it wants to delete all the music on my iPhone. Is there any way to copy the music off my iPhone first - so I can add it back into my iTunes library?

Yes, luckily I have been in this situation.
You can download a free application that will take your music from your iPhone and place it onto your Macintosh HD.
One of these should suit your needs:

  • My hard drive crashed and I want to reinstall my personal itunes on another computer but I need to deauthorize my the original computer and I don't know how to reinstall.  Can someone help me please?

My hard drive crashed and I restored my computer with my daughter's hard drive (her battery was dead) and I want to install my personal itunes on the new hard drive.  I was unable to deauthorize the original computer and I do not know how to reinstall my personal itunes.  Can someone help me with this?
    Thank you.

Without a backup of your "crashed" HD you will have to download your iTunes purchases again. Make sure your restored computer is running the latest version of iTunes.
Here is the procedure for your reference.
On your restored computer, launch iTunes. Click on iTunes Store on the left
On the right you will see this
"Sign in" using the Apple ID used to purchase your songs, then click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button.
When you want to play your newly downloaded music, you will have to "authorize" it. Don't worry about the lost HD until enough of your computers crash that you reach the limit of 5. Then you can "deauthorize all" and re-authorize as necessary.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • My hard drive crashed on my macbook pro and I had a new one installed and they were unable to get my pictures off of it. Is there anyone who could help? I'm going to lose all my memories of my kids! I got my old hard drive

My hard drive crashed on my macbook pro so i had a new one installed and they couldn't get my pictures off. I dont want to lose all my memories! They gave me back my old hard drive. Is there anyone that could help me?

I think how you understand the value of having backups. All you can do is:
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as MAC Data Recovery, Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads. Recovery software usually provide trial versions that enable you to determine if the software would help before actually paying for it. Beyond this or if the drive has completely failed, then you would need to send the drive to a recovery service which is very expensive.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
Also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on Data Recovery.
You will need an external enclosure for the old drive so you can connect it to the computer in order to try the recovery software before you buy it. But if they don't work then you will need to send the drive to a recovery service such as Drive Savers.
