Help! Had to reinstall Windows and iTunes.
I had a windows error that could not be restored/repaired. I reinstalled WinXP Pro. I also had to reinstall all applications, including itunes. Now my music library is still on my hard drive since I did not require a reformat. How do I get access to these and restore my old music and playlists, etc? Anyones help familiar with my problem woould be most appreciated!
AMD 3800+ Windows XP Pro
Nevermind, I was able to figure it out from some other posts. AUthorized new installation, found old music files, consolidated into my library. Seem to have lost my playlists, but no big deal.

I recently had my hard drive wiped out by a virus and had to reinstall windows and itunes. When I hooked up my ipod it did not transfer my songs from my ipod to my itunes library. How do I do this?
iTunes syncing is generally in one direction only, from the computer's iTunes library to the iPod. You cannot use iTunes to transfer song files from iPod to computer (except for songs purchsed from the iTunes Store).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer. If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links. (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to your new iTunes library. (Going forward, you should use a backup strategy, and include your iTunes data in what gets backed up. Then, you would be able to recover your complete iTunes library, including things like playlists and ratings.) -
I would like to move my songs from my ipod nano back on to my freshly reinstalled windows and iTunes. Can that be done? I turned off automatic syncing so I can charge up the ipod. Help!
You won't be able to, just by navigating out the iPod's photos folder in iTunes. You'll likely need the help of some sort of third party software to get the job done for you. One thing you'll want to keep in mind about these photos is that they are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod's Video smaller 2.5" LCD display.
Here is one such product.

my PC crashed, so i reinstalled windows and itunes. how do i get my music back?
If the music was purchased from iTunes you can redownload it for free (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519). If not you will either have to re-import all your music to rebuild your library, or purchase 3rd party software that can transfer it from your phone to iTunes such as Touch Copy.

I reinstalled Windows and iTunes. How can I transfer what is on my iPad to my PC?
I reinstalled Windows and iTunes. How can I transfer what is on my iPad, which is authorized, to my PC?
The ipad is not a backup device. It simply mirrors the selected content of your computer.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back. Certainly you did not reinstall your os without making sure your backup copy was up to date. -

Obviously I do not want to have to resubscribe to Podcasts (though it wouldn't be TOO much of a hassle) or reupload all my music/CDs (rather more of a hassle) if I can help it.
If anyone knows whether I can get away without having to reupload everything then I would be grateful for the information
ThanksQuit iTunes.
Copy the entire /My Music/iTunes/ folder from your backup to /My Music/.
Launch iTunes.
Since it is the same library (not just the same music) it will work fine.
That is all you need to do. -
Reinstall Windows and iTunes and keep data on Iphone
I'm going to wipe my Windows 7 system and reinstall. I know that when I install iTunes it will want to wipe my device to synk. I would like to backup ALL files related to itunes so that when I reinstall, I can copy the files back over and not lose anything. Other than the following windows folders: program files, my music, appdata, are there any additional files? I'm having trouble finding the ones for my phone. Where are these files located? I could care less about music as I have all this stored elsewhere, but I care about the saved data within my apps on my phone I do not want this resetting. Please help me avoid a wipe of my phone.
Thank you

Had to reinstall OS and Itunes..Will not import songs from library folder
I reinstalled my Windows 7 OS and Installed Itunes 10.6 but when I add my ipodmusic folder to the library it does not import the songs into the library. I tries dragging and dropping a few songs but it deletes them from the folder.
Any ideas?I think I'm having the same problem. This is what I get when I try to import songs:
The iPod “Ian” is linked to another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this I Pod with those from this library?
Yes No
What is this about? My buddy accidentally hit yes, and lost all of the songs on his iPod. I simply want to update my iPod with new material. This new material was obtained while using a different computer than what I originally used when I first got my iPod. Does anyone know how I can get music from a new computer on my iPod -
I have to say that it doesn't seem fair that after buying a $2500 suite of software that I cant chat with support, I'm outta here.
We can't know. You have not provided any system information or other useful technical details.

I would like you to please verify the purpose of sync more clearly in the future. I had to reinstall windows and thought I could use sync to save my bookmarks. Now years of bookmarks are lost because the program was not specific in telling me about the recovery keys until it was too late. This put a huge dent in my productivity and really sets me back. I realize that nothing can be done at this point but please clarify this for others so that it doesn't happen again. This really sucks!

My computer crashed and I had to reinstall windows 7, how can I get the playlist on my iphone onto itunes?
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.
If for some reason you have failed to do this, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchass from the ipod. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases -
I had to reinstalled windows xp on my PC and everytime I try to download itunes a message pops up saying "there is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run". But it does not say what program is required. I've had to reinstalled windows xp before and never had a problem.
Go START/ALL PROGRAMS/APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE"
If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but "Deselect" any other software offered at the same time.
Once done, try another iTunes install -
I have two graphics cards in my PC . after I had to reinstall windows again has been slower pc and stuff not play 4k footage . Can you help me find out about it " Raks " graphics card has stopped working ?
I'm not aware of any, not to say that there aren't any issues.
it may have nothing to do with ntpd, there are a lot of things running.
ntpd just happen to make the log entry at the same time as the panic.
I would check to see if there are any updates available for you system.
if this is the first time that this has happened. it may be (pick one):
cosmic rays
sun spots
the trilateral commission
if this happens more frequently and that traces look the same, then
there may be a real problem that needs to be looked into further. -
How can i deauthorize a computer that once was authorized then I had to reinstall (windows 7) like 3 times and reload itunes reach time to get this authorization crap. I only have 3 computers actually authorized. This one is the 4th. This is ridicules.
If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.
For instructions, see the following document:
iTunes Store: About authorization and deauthorization
(Best to deauthorise a computer before you reinstall the OS on it.)
