Help: Hardware OK - No Network Found

SITUATION
-AirPort Express light green
-AirPort Express card recognized under System Profile
PROBLEM
-Open AirPort Setup Assistant
-Choose "Set up a new AirPort base station"
-Error message: "No new AirPort networks were found"
HAVE ALREADY TRIED
-Powering down modem and AirPort Express
-Creating new computer-to-computer network
ADDITIONAL INFO
A recent thunderstorm apparently damaged my ethernet port. No damage to the modem as my laptop gets an internet connection with the modem. My solution was to go wireless to by-pass the ethernet port. I don't think I have a wireless hardware problem as Mac OS recognizes the AirPort card and AirPort Express shows constant green
Thoughts anyone?

"Creating a new computer to computer network" won't accomplish anything useful. The Airport Express is supposed to be creating your wireless network - not your Mac. You might as well turn off this feature: Open Network preferences and choose AirPort from the Show pop-up menu. Click AirPort and make sure the "Allow this computer to create networks" checkbox is not selected.
One thing I would like you to check - click on your Mac's Airport menu item, look at the list of available wireless networks, and see if your Airport Express wireless network (by default called "Apple Network xxxxxx") is listed. If it is, click on its name to connect to it. If it isn't - are ANY wireless networks listed.
There are very few reasons a Mac won't see the wireless network of a brand new unconfigured Airport Express, specifically:
- Airport Express wireless transmitter is dead
- Mac's Airport card is dead or incorrectly installed
- very heavy radio interference from one or more neighboring wireless networks

I purchased a new E72 two days ago .. And tested more than once Internet access from my wireless connection and it works well .. But suddenly I found this message "No WLAN Network found", Although the wireless device is working well when I want to access the internet through my laptop

99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

E61i "No WLAN Network Found"

OK, so I bought this E61i at the beginning of November and for the first month it was great. I was amazed at how easy it was to connect to home WLAN and any other open WLAN for that matter.
Then for no reason one day it says "No WLAN network found". I've made no changes to my home network and I know its working because both my laptop and desktop operate on WLAN.
I tried using the connection wizard several times to set up a connection but got the same results "No WLAN network found".
So then I called Nokia support. They asked what version of firmware I had. According to the person on the phone I was up to date but he had me download and install it again. This did not fix the problem still "No WLAN network found".
So I called back and explained the situation and I was told that there must be something wrong with my phone and that I should send it in for warranty repair. So I send the phone to the Nokia repair place somewhere is Alabama.
After about two weeks I get the phone back with a repair slip saying that the phone has been repaired by updating the firmware (which by the way I had already done). Of course when I tested the phone I get the same results "No WLAN Network Found".
So I called Nokia Support (which at this point is a contradiction in terms as they were of very little help) and was told to return the phone to Nokia warranty repair so that it could be brought to the Quality Assurance Managers attention.
I have to say that this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. I mean I have to send the thing at my expense (not cheap by the way) and now I have to send it back again.
What could be causing the phone to not detect any WLAN? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Up to this point nobody has been able to help. I've decided to send it back to Nokia and give them another shot at fixing the phone. I really have no other choice.
I bought the phone at TigerDirect.com and they have an agreement with Nokia that they don't do exchanges. They will only send the phone off for repair within the first 30 days. After that, I'm on my own. Since the phone didn't start acting up until after the 30 day mark I'm out of luck there.
I'm really not happy about sending the phone back to Nokia again as they didn't fix it the first time. So, My confidence level in them is much less than ideal.
I just have this sinking feeling that I may be doing something wrong with the phone (setting-wise) that started this whole mess in the first place, and that it's something simple. I just don't know what it is and noone has been able to help. Not even Nokia support. It's frustrating! I can't help but think that I might have been better off with my second choice the HTC Touch.

E71 - No WLAN Network Found Problem

Hi,
I have been using my Nokia E71 from 3 network for 3 months without any problem, my phone connects to Wireless network at my home and browse in internet will full speed.
I have been installing some software, after which problem started, my phone search for wireless network and says "No WLAN Network found".
I tired soft reset, hard reset and even I resintalled phone software through Nokia software update but still this problem not resolved.
If anyone faced this same problem and found solution, can you please share the procedure to fix this WLAN network problem in this topic.

I too get a similar problem.
It was OK up until recently, at home. But for some strange reason - when I connect to the internet via my access point, it sometimes doesn't find it, or says no WLAN found, even though the router is in the room directly upstairs.
However the iPod Touch I have also gets a similar problem, and a weak signal in some places, the router was on top of my Aluminum Desktop PC so I thought it could be that, having moved it, it made no difference.
I have a NETGEAR DGN2000 wireless draft-N modem/router. I think it could be the "Draft-N" that could be causing the problem. Although I have not fully ruled out the handset, and it could be the latest firmware. For me I have not bottomed this out, either to the phone or router, but am inclined to think its more the router.
If yours is a draft-N router it might be worth switching it to 802.11b/g mode only and try that. I shall try when my new E72 arrives next week

No network found

Hi, I bought a HP 11- D010na in February this year and with just over a month of use, my internet became spotty. The internet access bar on the bottom right of the screen would appear with a red X over it and say no networks found even though I know there is plenty wifi around. For example at the moment I have 10 wifi spots around me according to my phone, so I know that it is my laptop and not the networks. I gave it into the store to be fixed and they downloaded driver software for me, my laptop worked for an hour after. I brought it back to the store and they sent it to HP. I got it back in 3 weeks, they replaced the wifi chip. It worked for a week and then the exact same thing happened. I then requested a total refund off the store as I was in the middle of a thesis and didn't have the time to be sending it back to HP for the same problem they already failed to fix. When I recieved my refund, I went to another store and bought the same laptop. In hindsight that was clearly a mistake, but I cannot find any reviews online with people having the same problem as me so I thought it was just bad luck. Now the exact same thing is happening to my new laptop and I'm wondering if anyone knows what to do, I'd rather not send it back to HP again as they've clearly demonstrated they aren't able to fix it. Help with multiple AP network setup

I am in need of a little help setting up my network again. I have a AP extreme2, AP extreme 1 and two AP expresses. The house I am in is wired with CAD 5 to each room. I have a Linksys Etherfast Router (BEFSR81, this is the 8 port version of the one that is certified to work with Back to my mac). I have two desktop macs (G4 and G5)without wireless as well as a MBPro.
I have had this all working as a WDS using the airports in bridge mode and was able to control Airtunes from any computer in the house, share files and use screen sharing without trouble. The problem is that back to my mac would not work with this set up because NAT was not switched on. How should I configure each of the Airports to be able to use Back to my mac, file sharing and airtunes for each computer in the house?
The basic set up I have is as follows:
1. Linkys router receiving input from cable modem (cox cable) and passing to LAN to distribute to each room of the house.
2. AP extreme 2 in office with G4/G5, airdisk attached.
3. AP extreme 1 in bed room
4. AP express in living room
5. AP express in den
In order to use the back to my mac feature of 10.5 I believe I need to select "Share a single IP address" in the Airport utility but what do I need to do after that? I am at a loss with IP addressing and such.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using the Mac wired - it does not have wireless capability, and as it is sitting right next to the router I just want to hook it up with Ethernet cable. The wireless function is just for the PCs I have downstairs.
I am not sure what non-broadcast SSID means, but I think that has to do with the wireless portion of the network, right? I do have a SSID name set up, and WEP encryption so that only the PCs I own can connect to the wireless network, not anyone else's computers. But on the wired PC I have connected directly to the router, I do not have to input any of the security settings. I've even set the router to recognize the MAC addresses of all my computers, including the Mac.
What brand and model of router are you using successfully with Macs & PCs? The store I bought my router from is willing to give me a full refund if I can't get it to work - perhaps I would have better luck with the type of router you're using.

In most cases you can connect to the Windows shared printer from the Mac. But there is a dependence on the Mac driver being compatible. For many consumer inkjets, the vendor created driver cannot be used for this type of connection so you need to look at alternative drivers, such as Gutenprint or PrintFab. If you can tell us which brand and model of printer you have shared from Windows then we can answer your question with the preferred procedure on the Mac.

Folks,
even after having repaired the inbox folder under "properties" a few times, I still had some e-mails where the contents are different from the subject line.
In other words in the inbox there are two e-mails: one with subject line "abc", and another one with subject line "def".
When I display the e-mail with the subject line "abc", the contents are from the e-mail with the subject line "def" in the in-basket.
What else can be done to correct this problem?

Hardware could not be found

I've had iDVD 2.1 since I first got this computer (2002) but rarely used it. This morning I went to open it and it said "The application iDVD could not be opened because the required hardware could not be found." How could this be when we are talking about a software program? Eric

I think it is looking for an Apple installed Superdrive (DVD burner). So have you recently upgraded/replaced your DVD burner? If not, is your current Superdrive being seen by the system (can you burn to it from disk utility, iTunes, etc.)?

ITunes Helper.exe - Entry point not found error after upgrade

I just tried to install the latest iTunes software for Windows on two separate PCs running XP Pro SP3 and get the same error on both PCs at every windows startup: iTunes Helper.exe - Entry point not found. The procedure entry point sqlite3preparev2 could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll. Is this a known issue with a fix?

IDVD could not open because hardware could not be found

I am trying to open iDVD on a PowerMacG4 running Tiger with an external Lacie d2 drive. Upon opening iDVD it is stating that it could not be opened because the required hardware could not be found. Does anybody know why this is happening?

You shouln't even need an external drive to run iDVD (just to burn) so I don't think a driver could be your issue.
