Help..  HDD Crashed .. Need to restore files..  How??

OK Here goes..
I upgraded my macbook a few months ago from a 250gb to 500gb drive.. I used Carbon Copy and everything worked fine.. Yesterday i got a new wireless keyboard and magic mouse and installed new drivers.. Later that night the system locked up after running in closed screen mode. I forced shut down and went to bed.. Woke up i the morning and the system had flashing folder with ? mark. I pulled out my old 250gb with 3 month old data and fired her back up. Had to run diskwarrior to get files available. Bought another 500gb drive and cloned over again to new drive.. Now i need to pull my files off the old drive if they are there.. so how do i do this? Im new to mac. Windows i know to find the .pst for mail and html for bookmarks etc.
This is the main things i think i need.
1. mail files / folders and contacts.
2 Bookmarks. somewhat important.
3. Keychain passwords.
4. Iweb files.
5. any other suggestions..
Please help.. Work starts on monday an i need my puter up and running

Have you tried reinstalling your clone on the 250 drive back onto the 500 internal like you did before?
There might be a bit of a gap, all but recent stuff will still be there?
I suggest this in case your HD is just down because of those drivers you installed, in other words just a software problem. that CCC can rescue you from.

  • Help please! Need to restore my OSX Midi Network driver!

Hello friends, this is the first time i write you guys here.
But heck, i've solved hundreds of problems just reading these boards for some years now!
So yeah, i have been a Touchdaw user for some months and everything went great until
a couple days ago it broke/froze up, even crashing my audio midi setup issue that i managed
to fix (thanks to you guys) by deleting some plist around.
But when i came back today, to set everything up again, i found that there's no NETWORK
icon on the audiomidi setup anymore.
Thing is i can't actually find a single post about this issue anywhere on the web
Someone said that deleting the "com.apple.midi.netsetup" file would restore everything
but..bingo, there's no such file where i believe it used to exist before the crash.
My guess is i need to restore this file somehow, or install a "midi network driver"??
I seriously need this to work again, all my midi instruments are in another room, now i can't
record as comfortable as it used to be with  the wireless network and it's making me lose a bunch of time!
    2012 Mac Pro 10.7.5 OSX
I hope someone can help me! — Thanks in advance!!
    Please excuse my english,
    Jesús

    Hello Cheeky,
Unfortunately, i haven't found info about this issue and i had to move a couple keyboards into the control room.
I guess i'll have to reinstall my OS, but there's a lot of things that could go wrong...:( i don't know.
Everything would be cute again if the network thingy appeared :'(

OK, I don't have an iTunes account, but I do have an iCloud account, but I can't erase the data and choose a new pass code, because I can't connect to the Internet.  What the ****????  What can I do here?  This seems WAY more complicated than it needs to be.  And I hate to say this, but I kind of wish I hadn't received this as XMAS present.  Help!

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • Flash CS4 on Snow Leopard Crashes When I Open File - How do I fix?

    Hi everybody:
I hate to start a new thread but I didn't see one pertaining to this issue. I hope I am not alone. I recently bought a new iMac and it came with Snow Leopard OS. I ported over my Web Premium Creative Suite and all of my applications work great except for Flash CS4. I open the app to the intro screen but as soon as I try to open an existing project file or even to create a new project file, the app crashes immediately. I tried calling Adobe Support but they only turn me away, saying I need to purchase a $175 Support Plan for help. I just want my Flash to open. The same app works fine on my Macbook Pro (running Leopard). It seems adobe should be willing to help seeing as how the specifications say it is supposed to be compatible with Snow Leopard. Anyway, I have tried installing all updates and Deactivating/Uninstalling and Reinstalling. But alas, Flash still crashes every time. PLEASE Help!!!

I have a similar issue.  I have the CS4 Design Premium with all updates on an iMac running 10.6.  All Adobe apps work except for Flash 10.0.2.566.  All apps worked perfectly under 10.5.  Within seconds of loading a file or clicking 'New' Flash terminates generating an Apple crash report (see exerpt below) - not an Adobe crash report.
    Exception Type:  EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000004

(BTW, sometimes a normal Quit is interpreted as a crash by the other CS4 apps.  Could this be related?)

  • IMovie '11 capturing direct from camera crashed, need to recover file

I was caputuring direct from a camera via firewire and the drive got almost full, so iMove crashed.  I can find the capture file, a .mov, put it fails to open in quicktime or VLC.
Please help.  I've got over 2 hours of footage that I really need.
    Thanks,
    Jason

An alternative solution....for now. If you copy the files to your desktop or in any other folder you want them (it's temporary), you can still import them in iMovie. Just click Archive, Import, Movies and search for the folder you put your files in. I did it several times with success, that means no error! Now I can use my files and edit them in iMovie. You can delete the files on the desktop, since iMovie has copied the files into the iMovie library.
Another possibility is drag and drop the files from your desktop directly into an event. iMovie will copy the files into the library. For both options I am not sure if analysation for stability en recognising persons had been done while importing, but I guess you can do that later on.
Do not make the mistake of importing them in Aperture or iPhoto, drag and drop it an iMovie-event and delete it in Aperture/iPhoto... You will only hear the audiostream, you will see miniatures in iMovie, though your videostream is gone. That's how I lost the first video of my second daughter .
Until there's a good solution or update from Apple it works for me. I hope it does for you too!

  • Computer crashed, need to load files from ipod to new computer

my computer crashed and had no backup files. i have all my songs on my ipod and need to load them to my new computer. how do i do this?

Hi! Welcome to Apple Discussions Forum.
If you have purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store, then those are pretty easy to transfer to your computer. You'll just need to follow [this instructions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305465].
All your other songs (for example, those ripped from your CD's), you'll need to use any 3rd party program to transfer them to your iTunes library!
Some can also transfer your playlists, videos, ratings, podcast...

  • Hard drive crashed need to restore iphotos from Time Machine

I need some serious help. I have a 24inch intel imac and my hard drive failed. I thought I had everything backed up on my external hard drive via Time Machine (my last backup was April 11th) so I replaced the hard drive.
Once I reinstalled Leopard 10.5 it asked me if I wanted to restore my data from Time Machine which I did. It seemed like it worked great but when I opened up iphoto all 43,000 pictures (cherished family pictures of our children) were gone!
iphoto still has the Event Titles, how many photos, and the sizes but they are empty with nothing but a big exclamation point. I see the iphoto library under Time machine as well but the restore is grayed out I can't even go back in time because the arrow is grayed out.
I named the new hard drive "new SG 1.0TB" and the old one was just named Macintosh HD. I read briefly somewhere that the old and new hard drives need to have the same name. Is this correct? Also does it make a difference that I had Leopard 10.5.6 when my photos were available and now I'm only on 10.5? Please help!
I had some help from another forum and he told me to look under the Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library and right click on it and select 'Show Package Contents. All the folders are there (teasing me) but there are no pictures in the folders so nothing. But I was searching again on my external time machine backup and found iphotos under time machine backups/backups.backupdp/Ryan Gunter's Computer (2)/2009-01031-002706/Macintosh HD/Users/ryang808/pictures. It had all my iphotos from 1999 until the january 2009 but everything from this date to present is not there (the folders are there but nothing in them) could they still be hiding somewhere?? And how do I get the ones I do have back in iPhoto?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

sorry but, no. if they are not there there is no other place they could be. for some mysterious reason TM didn't back them up. still you should restore what you can. quit iphoto, control-click on TM in the dock and select "browse other TM disks". this will let you browse your old backups via TM interface. locate the folder Macintosh HD/Users/ryang808/pictures on january 31 backup and restore its contents to your Pictures folder. start iphoto and it should have alll those pictures.

  • My iPhone is disabled, and I need to restore it, how do you do this?

So I was just on the phone with Apple, and apparently you now have to pay for help on the phone? Stupidest idea ever, but what are you going to do? Anyways, some of my friends thought it would be funny to disable my phone, and now it says "Connect to iTunes" and whenever I connect it to iTunes, it says "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "jakes iPhone" because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." How do they expect me to enter my passcode when it's disabled? How do I fix this, it's bugging me that I can't get into my phone. Also, I heard you have to restore your iPhone, how do you do this? I don't know how the new iTunes works, it's really frustrating.
P.S- When I tried to restore it, it says "Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone "jakes iPhone" to it's factory settings?"
I don't want to restore my phone to it's factory settings, that's what it doesn't get.
The point of the passcode is so that it doesn't get any person information taken away. But what's the point if this happens? I mean, either way, I have to delete all the crap anyways to get it working again... Please help me, thanks.

The point of a passcode is to protect your information from "friends" who do things to you like they just did.  They have disabled your device and you have to restore your phone in iTunes.  Hopefully you have performed a backup recently and you can restore from that backup.  As far as paying for support, you don't have a mechanic diagnose and repair your car problems without paying so why would Apple or any other company not charge for support?  However, any charge that you have to pay for support to fix this issue......I would have my so called friends pay the bill.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • HELP!!  Need to recover file in Premiere Pro CS2!

Our church had a banquet to celebrate our pastor's 40th Anniversary at the church on Saturday.  Banquet went 1.5 hours longer than anticipated and when I went to close out the recording session there was a disc full error on the screen (the computer was in another room where I couldn't monitor it continuously).  I found the video file from the event, but I can't open it. There is 37 gigs of info in the file, and it lists the recording time to within a few minutes of when I got to the computer, so I know the whole banquet was captured.  PLEASE HELP!!! How do I recover this file?!?  Is there somewhere I can send it?

I found a group of programs that fix broken avi files. You can see them in this link

TestStand 2012 SP1, have setup 2 Result Processing.  The issue is the informaton needed for the Report Filename and Directory are not known until later in the flow (after entering Part Number and Serial Number).  TestStand doesn't generate the correct filename, due to the data not being available, and because the data isn't available the Generate By Expression isn't functioning.
