Help Help - - 3 camera's.....Out of sync

Well, I have posted before regarding this but it is driving me nuts!
I have 3 cameras from a dance concert.....none on timecode.
Please help how I can pop in "cutaways" into places that have the same amount of space!!
O, please help....

IF all cameras were recording the entire time (no start/stop), then place the clip from the camera angle you'll use most on track V1. With the clip highlighted, find a frame in the clip where there's a clear visual or audio cue, such as a camera flash going off or a loud noise that is indicated in the clip's waveform. Place a clip marker one that frame.
Next, play through a clip from one of the other cameras (in the Viewer window) and find that same cue point and add a marker. Drag the clip to track V2 and line up the markers on both clips. You may need to zoom in on the Timeline to get it lined up exactly. Playback a section of the Timeline just to make sure the clips are in sync with each other. Adjust the clip on V2 as needed. Repeat that process for the clip from the third camera.
Set the Canvas window for Image+Wireframe mode. Drag a corner of the Wireframe to resize the clip to about 40% to 50% and position it in one corner. Do the same thing for the clip in V2. You can get the same result by loading each clip into the Viewer window and using the Motion tab's Basic Motion controls (Scale and Center). You should now have a double picture-in-picture effect so you can see all 3 cameras at the same time. Depending on your system's resources, you may have to adjust the RT settings for playback ... or render.
As you playback the Timeline, cut and delete the portions of the clips on V2 and V3 that you do not want to keep. When you're finished cutting, select all clips remaining on V2 and V3, right-click on one and choose "Remove Attributes" from the contextual menu, then click Basic Motion. All clips will go back to full size and centered. Add transitions if needed.
Or buy FCP and use the Multi-clip editing feature.

  • HELP!  Audio goes out of sync after export!

OK, folks. I need your help. I have a looming deadline of THIS FRIDAY to hand this in.
I have a finished multicam edit of a show that runs 1 hr 20 min. It plays back perfectly in the timeline, all video and audio perfectly in sync. Looks and sounds exactly like what I need.
When I export the video as an H.264 file, the audio gets out of sync with the video by 13 frames! But that's not all... It doesn't happen to the entire audio track. There's about 50 minutes in the middle of the video where the audio goes out of sync. The audio at the beginning and ending of the video is lined up perfectly in sync. It's just the middle section that gets screwy.
    What do I do?!
This has never happened before, and I've worked a lot with multicam in Premiere Pro CC before this. Never been an issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Premiere, and also deleting all media cache files, but still no dice.  I also tried copying the clips into a new sequence in the same project, copying the clips into a new sequence in a NEW project, nesting the sequence... nothing works.
    My setup:
    MacBook Pro Retina (Rev. A)
    Premiere Pro CC (latest version)
Panasonic GH3 footage in 1080p 24p AVCHD timeline
3 cameras & 1 audio WAV file in Multicam
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, I figured out how to fix it:
In Premiere Pro CC, click on SEQUENCE > DELETE RENDER FILES.
    Try exporting the movie again.
It worked! I exported the same sequence, and it took a long while to re-render the audio files, but when it was finished exporting the audio and video were in perfect sync. I'm not sure what caused it, but this fixed it, so hopefully anyone else having this issue can save a lot of time by reading this.
    Cheers!

  • HELP: Audio regions get out of sync when I change tempo

I've got Logic Pro 9. I've recorded audio on a few tracks, and they sound great together. When I go to change tempo (either in the transport bar or in the tempo track), the regions change in size and move around horizontally, and get out of sync as a result.
Has anyone had this problem? Why should changing the tempo of the project affect the position of the audio regions IN RELATION TO ONE ANOTHER? I want them to stay in sync after changing tempo.
    Thanks in advance!

The reason they move is that logic is a bar/beat based Sequencer rather than a time based sequencer like pro tools. The regions adhere to the tempo grid and when the tempo is changed, they seemingly lengthen or shorten because the tempo shifts the bar/beat grid with respect to time--and audio regions normally Are inflexible and last for a fixed amount of time no matter what the tempo is changed to. This is an advantage when your audio is quantized musical events, but for non musical events it's a disaster because it screws up your edits.
To fix the problem, find the timelock key command and highlight all regions you don't want the tempo change to affect. after selecting them all, timelock them with this command.
But, from your post Im guessing that you have bigger problems than this....Timelocking regions will only prevent region starts from shifting around and will leave all your edits unchanged. but it won't speed or slow down your audio; It will not alter lengths to fit a new tempo. if your tracks are music tracks in a certain tempo and you are trying to change the tempo of your recorded audio, you must enable the flex mode on each track. For this you should read the part of the manual on the flex engine. Bear in mind that the audio quality of this ranges from ok to terrible depending on the material.
The moral of the story is that you should try to arrive at the correct tempo before recording audio tracks.

  • Video import, multiple camera - drifts out of sync

Hi - I've been using iMovie for years, am now starting with Final Cut Express because I have a project with multiple video tracks. Here's the problem: I've imported video from two cameras that were used simultaneously to record a play. I can sync the two video clips together, but if I sync them at the beginning of the clip, then at the end of the clip they are close to a second apart - they 'drift' progressively further out of sync as the clip goes on.

Sorry, I accidentally submitted the question before I had finished entering it ... here is more info ...
This is NOT an audio/video sync issue, which I have seen reported elsewhere. Each of the clips from the two cameras has its ownaudio track which is in sync with its own video. But both video/audioon the clip from camera 1 drifts out of sync with the video/audio fromcamera 2.
Finally, another (possibly related) issue. In addition to the video from the two cameras, I have an audio trackwhich was recorded on a separate audio recorder. This also drifts outof sync with the video - in fact it is not in sync with EITHER of thetwo imported video tracks.
All the video clips are thesame in terms of frame rate, sample rate etc. The audio track has thesame sample rate as the video clips. The only thing I can think of thatmight be an issue is that while two different MiniDV cameras were usedto record the play, I only had one camera available when it came timeto import - so I imorted the video from both cameras using the samecamera. So the video from camera 1 was imported using camera 1, but thevideo from camera 2 was imported using camera 1 as well.
    Any suggestions?? thx

  • Export to camera, audio out of sync

I am attempting to export a couple of iMovie projects to my Sony digital camcorder for archival.
I am losing audio sync during the export.
The original project in iMovie is fine. The archived video on the camcorder is well out of sync.
Does anyone have suggestions on cause and potential cure?
    Thank you!

I experience the same thing when exporting to my Canon whether the audio is extracted or not. It also doesn't matter if the iMovie project in saved on my boot drive or an external drive, or whether my camcorder is connected directly or via another Firewire device. (Although some of the above scenarios do exacerbate the problem.)
I have learned not to use Export to get my movie back on tape. Instead, I go to the Preferences and select "Play through to DV camera". With my Canon, this works when I set it to Playback mode, then activate the Record Pause function. I just have to unpause the camera, click Play in the iMovie window, and the camera records the iMovie project. I have never had a problem with the audio losing sync using that method.
    Regards.

  • HELP!! Audio Out of Sync in Anamorphic Capture... Any Help Appreciated

I've been having problems with the audio drifting when I capture anamorphic footage for longer than 10 minute segments. I've captured 4:3 NTSC DV tape to see if it was my GL2 and I also hooked up my camera to a monitor to playback the tape but the audio was in sync all the way through for both tests. Only capturing the anamorphic footage results in audio drifts regardless of any capture settings.

I am fairly new to iDVD 6 and iMovie HD (widescreen), but I an currently assembling a highlight DVD for my daughter's softball team. We are in mid season. I had been creating separate movies (per game). I extracted audio and/or added sound and video effects to some of the movies clips. Alas not only do the extracted (original audio) and added audio (outdoor cheer) disappear but also the video special effects (slow motion) are not maintained in widescreen but are pillarboxed when copied/pasted.
At any rate, I am have now created a compilation iMovie and will be dumping new footage into it as we go. Editing the compilation, as well as editing separate "save as" individual game movies.
I only had 2-3 clips that had been audio manipulated and shared those back to my video camera and then reimported from camera back to the compilation project. The extracted audio with separate tracks are now a single audio clip but at least I have audio during those clips.
To end this ramble, knowing the limitations of messing with audio and trying to cut and paste to different movies I will now create duplicate movies with a master having no audio enhancements.

    Thanks, Len
I hadn't thought about this option. It seems like a
lot of work. I wish there was an easier way. I have
archived ("Shared" to full dv quality) to DVD-ROM
discs all the raw .dv clips AFTER extracting the
audio, hoping that I could use these clips to
assemble custom DVD-Videos in the future, without
having to "Extract Audio" a second time. The .dv
clips all play perfectly with the audio synced in
Quicktime. Of course, the clip's audio was in sync
before the "Extract Audio" was applied. This sync
problem ONLY rears it's ugly head with iDVD Video
discs (don't know about DVD Pro). Thanks again for
    the suggestion.

  • Z10 camera flash out of sync

Hi, I have an issue when taking pictures with flash. Camera works fine , flash works, but the problem is when I take the shot flash lights up, but camera takes a second or two to focus, and when it shoots the flash already went off, so I can't take pictures in the dark. Please help if someone has a solution for this issue.
    Thanx

I doubt it's hardware.  My suggestion at this point would be to reload the OS to the device.  I suggest making a backup of the device using Link then using an autoloader to reload the OS to the device.

  • IPhone Calendar wiped out after sync with an empty Outlook 2003 Calendar

    I need some help.
iPhone Calendar wiped out after sync with an empty Outlook 2003 Calendar.
Unable to restore from backup as my iPhone was backed-up before I realised my calendar info was gone.
I found an old backup file in my old disk but was unable to move the old calendar data to the empty outlook after restore. It just keep wiping out after I sync.
    Thanks.

I have managed to find an old back up to restore my iPhone. However even with at least one entry in my outlook, my calendar details on my iPhone was still wiped out and was not transferred to my outlook.

  • One camera of three not syncing into color from FCP

Running lastest version of everything on imac 2 ghz intel core 2 duo 2 gb memory. Useing multi-sync to edit three camera shoot shot on vx 200 with p2 cards. Edit is great. One camera goes out of sync by a lot when importing to color.
tried export each clip from this camera and reimporting qt back into sequence. This worked expect, the clip got squished going into color.. didn't stay at HD settings, probably a pixel issue. Tried reexport using pro-res 422 HD 960x720 24p which was our camera setting.
This works but sometimes but not all the time. I get a render error "can't find capture card".
The camera that goes out of sync is in two parts, thus the multi-clips had to be
resynced... this shouldn't be an issue with xml as it's reading the time code unless the timecode is the same on both clips...hmmm...

    From the Release Notes:
"Known Issues Affect Sequences Containing Multiclips That Are Sent to Color
Sequences that contain multiclips have known issues that affect Final Cut Pro to Color round trips."
Color does not like multiclips. Too bad the forum search function is disabled as solutions have been offered up, I just can't remember them currently as I rarely touch the FCP multiclip function.

  • Two synced video clips come out of sync in the middle

I am working on a two camera project and I have synced the cameras using a sync point. At first the videos remain in sync and play fine, but shortly into playback the tracks come out of sync. I have not moved any of the tracks. How do I keep this from happening?
I am using Final Cut Express HD 4 and am working from an external hard drive. It is a Lacie 500GB -8Mb Cache - 7200RPM Mini Hub. The max interface transfer rate is 400Mbits/s for firewire and 480Mbits/s for USB 2.0

Does the video from the two cameras go out of sync with each other or the audio? What are the item properties for the two clips?

  • Out of sync audio when trying to capture from digital 8 camera to quicktime, please help

    Just trying to capture hi 8 tapes using a sony digital 8 dcr-trv355e pal into quicktime;
great clear video but  audio becomes out of sync like a bad kungfu movie,
contacted apple they tried to help, but they dont really understand issue
    there are lots of people out there that are trying to digitise old analog video;
    I have fcpx and imovie they both play the old video via  the digital 8 camera but cannot capture;
that is why using quicktime; thanks!!

Yes i think its something to do ith the fact its a wmv file, when i use mpeg footage it exports fine.
basically, no matter how long the video, the video is out of sync...its weird
i've decided the best thing to do is leave quicktime and export using windows media instead, that seems to give me a better looking picture witha small file size anyway
    thanks for your help though!

  • PLEASE HELP - Panasonic DV captured, audio goes out of sync

I'm capturing an hour of DV from a Panasonic PV-GS500, using Capture Now. Initially the audio and video appear to be in sync, but when I view the latter portion of the hour, the audio and video are markedly out of sync. This has occurred with several different tapes. I don't recall if this happened with FCE 3.5; I'm using 4.0.1.
The recording was made with 16 bit audio. I chose Easy Setup with format DV/Panasonic DVCPRO, using DV-NTSC, and rate 29.97fps. My sequence is 48kHz.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I re-captured the same tape I had trouble with the first time, but this time I started at the beginning without any lead time and it worked without audio/video sync problems. So I think the source of the problem was that I was changing Easy Setup settings after making a new project/sequence, instead of creating a new project/sequence after selecting the Easy Setup settings I want.
I have 2 related additional questions. I hope someone will take a stab at answering these.
    Question ONE
I checked my Easy Setup settings again, and the format is shown as "custom." I'm sure I didn't select this intentionally; I selected DV-NTSC. Not sure if this "custom" setting is why things are working now. Any idea why this setting might have changed to "custom" automatically by FCE?
The "custom" settings are as follows:
Sequence Preset: DV NTSC 48 kHz
Capture Preset: DV NTSC 48 kHz
    Device Control Preset: FireWire NTSC
    Playback Output Video: None
    Playback Output Audio: FireWire DV
PTV Output Video: Same as Playback
PTV Output Audio: Same as Playback
If I change the format back to DV-NTSC, Playback Output Video changes to "Apple FireWire NTSC (720 x 480)." I'm not sure if this is relevant.
    Question TWO
Say I've imported all this DV, without audio/video sync problems, with certain Easy Setup Settings. What if I then switch to a different camera for which the capture format is different (say DV-NTSC 32kHz FireWire Basic). Will that create any problems? I ask because presumably my old Easy Setup settings (for my first camera) are still being used by the Project or Sequence. The second camera requires new Easy Setup settings, but these settings are not congruent with the Project or Sequence I'm working with.
Maybe another way to ask this question is this: Can I mix and match DV from different cameras without any problems, even though the Easy Setup settings are changed within the same project and sequence?
    Thanks again.

  • Newbie Help? Audio Out Of Sync After Capture

Please help a newbie to this great forum:
I use Final Cut Pro HD and import Sony DV tapes which were shot with a Sony VX-2000. Once recorded, I Log and Capture the tapes as I play them on a Sony GV-D 1000 NTSC player - the little "Walkman" of DV tapes.
If I import four tapes, chances are in two of them the audio will be out of sync with the video by half a second or so, and I have to manually reposition the audio track in the FCP timeline. The other two tapes will be ok.
    How do I tackle this??
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Oh, sorry. I knew a musician years ago whose business card read "The Lone Arranger."
I personally don't care what you call yourself; and as long as it's not obscene you're doing fine here in Apple discussions.
DV tends to drift over time when shot with unlocked cameras. That may be your issue. The way to work around this is to capture in smaller chunks, say 15 -20 minutes.

  • H.264 Audio Out Of Sync in Media Encoder. Help Needed.

I use Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 and I find that the best way to get a good video with low file size is by Exporting to Media Encoder and using
the H.264 codec. Note, this is the codec by itself NOT the one used with the Quicktime preset.
Here's the problem : When I export these files, they always end up a few frames slower than what I have on the timeline and the audio is always
out of sync by just less than a second. Although it's a very small difference, timing is crucial in editing when it comes to dialogue as I'm sure anyone who uses Premiere understands.
I have tried tweaking with the settings. I've used VBR 1 Pass, 2 Pass, CBR, Progressive Scan, Upper and Lower fields first, all of that.
Has anyone else had this problem, and if so how was it solved?
IF not, can anyone give me a good solution as to how I can get good video quality + low file size. The benchmark is a 45second video takes a maximum of 5MB, Quicktime video. Any suggestions or any methods you find better? Any ideas on how the guys at Apple Trailers manage to do the job so well?
All the help is appreciated. Thanks, guys!

Hi Jeff, I've experimented with a bunch of formats to find the root of the problem, but for this conversation I'll use a Quicktime (.mov) example.
    Source Footage Settings :
    Video : 640x268, Millions of colors. FPS : 23.98 Data Rate : 1.15mbits/sec
    Audio : AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz
    Sequence Settings :
    Video : Quicktime Movie, Pixel Depth : 640, Frame Rate : 23.976
    Audio : Source Audio Format : 44100 Hz - 16bit Stereo. Project Audio Format : 44100 Hz - 32bit floating point - Stereo
    Average Data Rate : 141KB / second
Pixel Aspect Ratio : 1.0 (Square Pixels)
    Export Settings :
Main Concept H.264 Video, Custom Preset.
Video : Frame width & height is same as source. Frame Rate : 23.976. Field Order : None (Progressive) Pixel Aspect Ratio : Square Pixels
               Profile : High. Level : 3.0. Encoding : VBR, 1 Pass. Target Bitrate [Mbps] : 1.3. Maximum Bitrate [Mbps] : 1.5
Audio : AAC, Stereo, 44.1 kHz. Audio Quality : High. Bitrate [kbps] : 192. Precedence : Bitrate
    Multiplexer : MP4. Stream Compatibility : Standard
NOTE : I have done the same with .avi files as well with the same audio lag issues. As for the file above, it's a trailer off Apple Trailers which also uses the H.264 encoding. To prove that there is a lag, I imported the 'rendered' file back into Premiere, placed it on a seperate layer on top of the original footage in the timeline and pressed play. As expected, there was a difference in audio playback and video was about a frame late.
    Any ideas? Thanks!
