[Help]Help with Jump Menu
Hi there,
I wanna make an inserting form , like that
Name:
E-mail:
Location: (list menu : US, UK, ARE, UAI, Else) if the user choosed "Else" Show a text field to type his location ,
when I tried "Jump Menu" it reset fields for sure , so is there any pro way ??
Thanks.
The problem you are experiencing here is that you have selected the wrong type of menu item for your form. There are 2 types of drop-downs that Dreamweaver can create in a form. There is a list/form and jump menu. The jump menu is used so that once an item is selected from this menu you are redirected to another page or website, or if this is undefined it simply refreshes the page you are on. This is not what you want. When you select this, look at the item right next to it in the menu and you will see a List/Menu. This is the type of drop-down you want when someone is filling out a field in a form that will be submitted to an email/database.

DW CS4 Help with jump menu opening a new window.
First, I can't believe that Adobe left out an easy to use behavior to do this.
I have some jump menus, and I would like the selection to open up a new window and have the content appear there. I saw a couple of old topics here that offered some suggestions, but they didn't work for me. I could get it to open a new window, but the content was not there. I saw where you need to add a "GO" button, and add a "Open New Window"behavior to it. That is what opened the new window with new content. I do not have the "GO" buttons on the jump menus in this code, but did try it and it didn't work. If anyone can help and tell me how to do it, and where to place the code, I would greatly appreciate it.
I know this is long, but here is my code for the page.

<!-- InstanceEnd --></html>I'm confused by your post and code. Adobe has a function to do this. In the Insert Toolbar under the Tab "Forms" there is an option to create a jump menu. The only options that menu gives you is the same window or a frame on the page (a very outdated action looking at it now). But with basic knowledge of links you insert the menu and you will get code like:
<select name="jumpMenu" id="jumpMenu" onChange="MM_jumpMenu('parent',this,0)">
The "parent" denotes that this will open in the same window. If you change that to "blank" then it will open in a new window. A "Go" button is optional and also available in the DW GUI when you set up a jump menu.

Help on Aligning jump menu ...
Nice day webmates:
I've got a table with 1 row, and 3 columns, in the first
column a text like "choose a language :" and on the 3th column a
"jum menu" The proble is that when I test it on a browser, the jump
menu always goes upper than it actually is set... I tried with
alignmetn "Vertical: Bottom" but nothing happens... Please if
somebody know about this "looks-like-a-bug" issue, let me know how
to fix it, thanks in advance...The CSS attribute is vertical-align: bottom, not
vertical:bottom. Also a height attribute needs to be on the cell in
order for it to line up with the bottom, otherwise it will just be
a tight fit inside the cell. -
Hello to everyone in the community.
I have a problem for the jump menu.
My problem is the following:
When I click on the value of I he opens the menu page it returns the correct value most of the menu to the first position.
I wonder how can the value that was chosen in the menu.
It is possible to develop
The following script below
<script type="text/javascript">
function MM_jumpMenu(targ,selObj,restore)
eval(targ+".location='"+selObj.options[selObj.selectedIndex].value+"' ");
if (restore) selObj.selectedIndex=0;
</script>
Note: this menu is jumping into a separate php file, there on the pages where you use the jump menu I made a call to include the file.
Thank you all hope to have a quick return.
God bless you all

GMAIL: rodrigo.mct @ gmail.comUnless your jump menu is in a parent region of a template and you CANNOT edit it in child pages, why not just go to the select tag (jump menu) of your code on each page and for the apporpriate page, simply put select="selected" in the <option> tag for that page?
It may be more work but it will certainly be easier than trying to have a javascript figure out which page someone goes to, especially if they use the jump menu to jump around to several pages in the site. -
Submitting form with 'jump menu' and PHP?
I have a form that can reveal one of two question sets,
depending on the
setting of a drop-down list, e.g.,
<select>
<option>Set 1</option>
<option>Set 2</option>
</select>
Up to this stage in the development of this page, I have
solved this
requirement by using an onchange event in the <select>
tag to submit the
form to itself. The PHP code in the head of the page
evaluates the set
selected, and then writes the page containing the 'selected'
fields (either
set1 or set2).
But now, I also need to submit this form's data to the
processing page! So,
there are two competing functions here -
1. Deciding which field set to display
2. Processing the filled in fields by submitting the form to
a second
process page
How can I get these two together on the same form?
Or should I just use two separate form pages, and a
javascript jump menu?

Help needed with CSS menu please
Hello
Could someone give me a hand with a CSS menu I am struggling
with please?
I want each of the blue menus to have a black border around
it (so 4 borders in total). And how do I make each menu have a
closer gap? I need them squashed up a little bit more vertically.
The code is as follows -
<style type="text/css">
#ddblueblockmenu{
width: 179px;
border-top: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
border-right: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
border-bottom: 0 solid #FFFFFF;
border-left: 1px solid #FFFFFF;
#ddblueblockmenu ul{
margin: 0;
padding: 0;
list-style-type: none;
font: normal 75% 'Trebuchet MS', 'Lucida Grande', Arial,
sans-serif;
border: #000000;
#ddblueblockmenu li a{
display: block;
padding: 5px 0;
padding-left: 9px;
width: 169px; /*185px minus all left/right paddings and
margins*/
text-decoration: none;
color: white;
background-color: #2175bc;
border-bottom: 11px solid #FFFFFF; /*change border gap size

um... that's what I meant... the OP had all four sides styled
separately,
with 0 for one side... but mentioned he wanted a border on
all sides....
hence my arrow pointing out the side that had 0 for border
and what could
be used as a shortcut method of styling the border....
Maybe my post wasn't exactly clear ;-)

Second thing, is everything in my codes looks alright, ?
Before i threw exception in the main method the program was freezing up when i click couple time the menues and the put mouse over the menu 1 containing the sub-menus -> Why was that, what caused it, and how to hadle that, (did i handled corectly? in the applet above?)
Sorry for that much text to read!
Thanks in advance
Any hint from you I apprieciateHi.
I got some possible answer for U.
For opening a page in the default browser, U can use this type of program (more informations are available at "question of the week number15"):
import java.io.*;
class Launch{
public Launch()
try{
/* ok for windows NT */
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start www.yahoo.com");
/* normally ok for windows95 */
//Runtime.getRuntime().exec("start www.yahoo.com");
} catch (IOException exception) {
System.out.println ( exception.getMessage());
To change the background color (in red in this example), use :
this.getContentPane().setBackground(Color.red);
good luck -
I created a dropdown menu with jump menu magic. When a
selection is made a popup window opens. It works great in Firfeox,
but when I try it in IE6, the new window (popup) disappears after
one second. What is going on?Why not ask on the PVII support forums?

My search bar for my iTunes library no longer works. Also, the menu bar is no longer visible. Noticed this problem last Saturday. This might be an issue with my desktop, and not iTunes itself Can anyone help me with this?
Press Ctrl-B to toggle the menu bar on and off.
When you say that the "search bar for my iTunes library no longer works" can you be more specific? The operation of the search function has changed in iTunes 12, essentially having two very distinct modes:
when Search Entire Library is checked, entering a search string will generate a dropdown of all matching items within your whole library, from which multiple operations are available via context menus
when Search Entire Library is unchecked, entering a search string creates a filtered view of whatever your current focus is (e.g., if you're looking at a playlist the filter applies only to items in that playlist) with none of the dropdown options as in the first case -

Please help me with spry bar menu
I have laid out my page with the div tags in Dreamweaver. I defined the different sections by putting colors in them until i am ready to put stuff into them however when i insert the spry menu bar into my navigation section, the area below it is behaving like a drop down box of color. What i mean is that the area below which is supposed to stretch from left to right as a single box is now broken up by a different color box the width of the spry bar and goes down to the next box. When i preview it in the browser the page appears normal. How can i get rid of the intruding box in dreamweaver.
HI
I am practicing for the webmaster design course pratical exam. The web page i will be asked to construct will consist of a home page with two or three other pages pages in the site it will have to link to. I know how to do most of the steps individualy but i do not know in what order some of them are done. What i mean is this. ... after setting up the root folder..images..laying out the divs .. i would like to know ... at what point do i do the various things like, set up a styles folder...make a template... make the other pages of the site ..etc. I think i am able to do nearly all of these things but not sure in what order they should be done so the site will work.
I have reached the point where i have established the site and layout, i.e. the wrapper, logo, navigation,header,bodycontent,right and left columns, clearbar, footer. i would like someone to list the sequence i should follow after this. I am praticing on a trial CS5.5 which seems to simplfy to a freat extent what we learned on the course because it is a later version. The version we used on course was CS4 and if the pratical is in this version then i will need to know how it is done in this format.

If this only happens in DW Design View, use Live View or turn off your CSS display.
View > Style Rendering > un-tick Display Styles.

CS4 Help with spry menu bar. Want Top Centered and Subs left-justified.
Hi there, using DW8 mostly, but have the trial version of CS4
for the spry menu bar. WinXP.
Can someone help me with the spry menu bar on this page? I'd
like the main menu to be centered, as it looks better for
appearance, and the sub menus to be left-justified.
http://www.manmeetswoman.com/example4.html
But I can't seem to do that, if I make the main menu
centered, it seems to override the submenus even if I make a class
just for the submenu to be left-justified.
Am I doing something wrong or is this not possible?
And the menu bar looks horrific in IE6. I assume it looks ok
in IE7 and above. Can someone help me with a code just for IE6 for
this?audio90 wrote:
Not quite what I was looking for. I'm wanting the top menu to be grouped together and to the right and the submenu boxes to all a single square box, not just with backgrounds extending only the length of the word. Also, your menu bar doesn't display properly in IE6 either.
1) You should be able to achieve a square box for your submenu items by fixing the widths of all of your submenu items to something larger than the content of your widest submenu <li> tag. This should be achievable with a single change of setting in the following CSS rule.
ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li {
width:???em;
Set your width using em units, so that the box shrinks and grows with the size of the text when the latter is changed by the user.
2) Getting your top menu items to group together to the right may be more difficult as the entire menu bar is built on an HTML list structure with left-floated <li> tags. If it is possible, then you should begin your experimentation with the following CSS rule
ul.MenuBarHorizontal li {
float:right;
Change the float property from left to right, as I have indicated.
My suspicion, however, is that many subsequent adjustments will have to be made. So, back up your current CSS file before you begin.

Help with spry menu bar in liquid layout
I need help getting a spry menu bar with a 6-item list to stay in place in a liquid layout. Trying to get it horizontally under the header image. I am new to web design (new to html and code: reading books, searching web, and doing tutorials for many hours now), using CS4, working on a mac. You can view my trial page on cc-tn.com. I would appreciate any help offered!
Problem stems from the fact that your page is looking for files contained on your local hard drive instead of the web site.
<script src="file:///Macintosh HD/Users/Allison/CC Web/Templates/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBar.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<link href="file:///Macintosh HD/Users/Allison/CC Web/Templates/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
In addition, the links to PDF files are pointing to your local hard drive.

Did you define a local site folder in DW before you began this project? Without this critical first step, DW cannot correctly manage assets for you.

Help with Spry Menu - stopped working
Dear Forum,
I used a Spry Horizonatal Bar menu successfully in a site I
am building. After I modified it to suit my needs it was working
fine (changed colors, font, variable width box, modified hacks for
IE6) until I did some code cleaning to achieve WC3 validation. I
had to change many things in the code, but as far as I am aware
nothing was even remotely tied to the menu. After several passages
I realized with horror that the menu (still there) are not working
anymore. The pull down does not work. I attach the link of the test
site here:
site
Is anyone able to tell me what's not ok in it. I must point
out that senpai.js do not exists; should i remove that lin of code
(I am wondering if it does create a conflict - I removed it but to
no effect, then decided to put it back so I can show you the site
as it is).
I would appreciate any help, I am not expert, this is my
first site and I am sure I am doing something silly; if I just knew
what it is! I am getting mad trying to progress with this. Now I
have valid code, with a menu not working! Not too good as you can
see.
Help, ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance!
Asyavar: Brilliant!
I'm on Windows 7 64bit and this Pages panel stuff was driving me nuts: thumbnails at the far right, snapping shut panel when attempting to resize, no scroll bar, blank panel, everything poopy. I tried all the standard deviations: uninstall/reinstall, new workspace, Ctrl+Shift+Alt on startup, delete files manually, and only ocassionally did the Pages panel work as expected, then it would almost immediately revert to bad stuff.
Your solution worked like a charm, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart...<G> -
