Help hooking up MSI 6 channel audio-output riser card and DTT2500

Hi guys,
I'm having trouble here. I originally had my SBLive hooked up to my DTT2500 speakers (yeah I know, overpriced POS) through a 2.5mm-->DIN(9pin) jack. The SBLive has a 2.5mm spdif out on it. Now I swapped to an Nforce board and I'm using the onboard MCP audio. I used the CNR riser card (picture below) thinking this would be an easy switch. But unfortunately things don't go that well for me. Turns out that the SPDIF on the Riser is an RCA spdif out, not 2.5mm. So, my question is, how do I hook up:
SPDIF RCA OUT----->2.5mm
.....or.................
SPDIF RCA OUT----->9pin Digital DIN
Any ideas??? The SPDIF is the bottom jack of the 3 in the picture below, right????

I'm gonna try this again while our friend here shows an illustration and I can elaborate. Sorry to crash this thread but I see an opportunity here, and someone else may benefit from it as well.
I too gave up and switched to the SB live becuase I like sound coming out of all 4 speakers of my Altec lansing 4.1 analog system.
1. Does this mean that I can switch back and use the jack on the CNR card for the rear speaker connector since I have only two plugs from my AL's.
2. Do I now have control over the 4 speakers or is it the same as before where you can only hear sound out of four speakers when it is encoded for it?
3. finally, (see illustration) the wire loop/connector that connects the CNR card to the MB, shows it is connected at the header behind the SPDIF Jack (it comes that way).
A. Do I need to leave it there or move it to the header behind one of the other jacks for ANALOG???? or will it work the way it is?
I tried bringing this up in the old forum in my early days but it seems it was overlooked. I moved on and got my SB LIVE...yeah I know, but I just can't do without 4 speaker sound, not just a mirror image for the rear.
I don't want to have to shell out another 200 beans for a new speaker system...yet
So does anyone have any experience relating to the questions I have asked? ?(  ?(  ?(

  • Multi channel audio outputs from a laptop such as 5.1 or 7.1

is it possible to get multi channel audio outputs from a laptop such as 5.1 or 7.1 for watching Movies or television while using Windows media Center.

Ok so i order to help anyone who is interested.
The only ironic solution to this problem i found was to use a plugin called xto7 to convert the xml to the old fcp7 format.
i then imported this into premiere pro.
this was then able to export an OMF that when imported into logic 10 that was using the correct 6ch mono setting as separate tracks.
Insane but it works until Apple fixes the incorrect meta data import in FCPX that sets the xml export to the default import that is always surround.
this is the only way i was able to send stems with all the edit points and fades for the sound editor.
If you don't have premiere lying around you maybe able to do it with fcp7 too we just didn't have it in this studio.
Fingers crossed Apple fixes the fcpx xml export.

  • K7N420 pro MSI 6952 TV-Out Riser Card troubles

just wondering if anyone has gotten the MSI 6952 TV-Out Riser Card to go with their K7N420 pro motherboard and if so how do you get it to work as ive tried for months on end and i still have many failed attempts at getting it to function

It is your drivers. You need to get the 29.XX series of detonator drivers and use those to get tv-out to function.
I had a K7N420 and a tv-out card... long dead, exploded caps. I recall that the last version of the detonators that worked for sure was the 29.20s. I experience the same difficulty with my geforce3 Ti500 and the new drivers... no tv-out signal as the drivers cannot seem to detect the presence of a tv on the other end of the svideo cable.
Try it out and see if it works

  • Simultaneous audio output from Ipad and bluetooth ?

Is it possible to have simultaneous audio output from IPAD and a bluetooth speaker? At present I can only get audio from the Bluetooth Speaker and nothing from the IPAD's audio out! My purpose is that my Mom will hold the IPAD to listen to her Audiobooks but my Dad who sits across the room and is hard of hearing needs a speaker close to him, so I need simultaneous audio from both devices.

The speaker output on the iPad is pretty limited and your mother will probably have a hard time hearing it. Get a BT speaker for both and the above device and they both can listen from whatever location they want (within 40 feet) and get better sound.

  • 4 channel audio output? (MacBook)

I am looking to get 4 channels (2 sets of R and L) of audio output from my MacBook - I'm trying to work with DJ software to enable monitoring (listening to a track on a separate channel thru headphones w/o playing it through the main speakers). If I would hook up a USB audio interface, would this interface, along with the 1/8" headphone output, give me a total of four channels?
    MacBook 2.0gHz (White)   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

It depends on the software you are using and the hardware you want to buy.
You would need to set up an Aggregate device in Audio/MIDI manager (in the Utilities folder). Once the Aggregate is created you would then be able to select it in any software that fully supports Core Audio for I/O. The Aggregate device allows for all the inputs and outputs from different interfaces to appear as one single interface to the software.
Some hardware comes with Core Audio drivers that won't allow Aggregate devices. Digidesign is the only one I have ran across yet, but I can't guarantee there aren't others.
Also when you create an Aggregate device the different I/O could have different latencies, which could cause issues for you. If you don't know latency is the delay between when the audio is input or played back, and when it is actually heard coming out of the outputs. Firewire interfaces tend to have lower latency, and your software should have settings to adjust the latency as well.
But yes, it is possible, although it takes a little bit of work.

  • Help Please!! no audio output device installed?

Hi. I have a satellite A215-S4757 last night I installed some windows updats  went to bed because it was going to take awhile. When I got it had finished and was in sleep mode. When I turned it on I noticed the sound was on mute. Or I thought it was. When I attempted to turn the sound on I recieved the message "No audio output device installed". I updated BIOs 2.30 but that didnt work. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks

Try this!  Looks like you have Realtek audio.  I was having the same problem until I installed the updated Realtek driver directly from Realtek site.
As many users have posted, I was having this problem with my Satellite L505-S5990. I tried most of the suggestions I could find here and on the 'net to no avail. I was surprised to see that this problem affected many laptop brands - even as far back as Windows XP!!
Last week I think I finally found the answer (or at least Realtek did). My laptop has Realtek HD audio, and the drivers that came with laptop seemed to be the culprit. I checked the Realtek site last week, and they have an updated driver, dated 3/30/2010, for Windows 7 as well as other versions of Windows. It is Version 2.46.
I downloaded and installed these drivers, switched back to going into sleep mode rather than hibernate and - so far - the computer wakes from sleep with sound intact!!!
Hopefully these drivers will work for others.

  • Multi channel audio output

i am trying to output a wav file from a avi file.
this file has multi channel audio, in this case 4 channels, though when outputting the audio by
After Effets, mono or stereo is the only available choice.
In this case, which channel will be extracted from the avi file?

I'm 99% sure that only the first 2 channels will be imported. I've seen some weirdness where multichannel audio has been bounced to a stereo pair on import causing a jump in levels. Your best bet is to use Soundbooth (or Premiere) or an audio/editing app to do the conversion.

  • Dual monitor use audio output for movie and other for MBP

is it possible im watching a movie on one and wated to answer factime call or watch youtube on my mbp and just screamed out my tv speakers.....i want fual monitoring but separate audio any help?

I know on mackbooks I've seen firewire used as an input for a Weiss Dac if you're into two channel audio.  Do any reiceivers take firewire as an input for hometheater?  Has anyone tested Firewire outputs on their W series?  I'm told that firewire is sometimes preferable to USB, I'm not sure why this would be, can USB support passthrough of DTS encoded signals?
In the case that firewire works and you Do not have a firewire source, maybe something like this would be of value  It converts firewire to digital coaxial s/pdif and allows passthrough of DTS and AC3.

As I'm into audio the critical thing here (and what you're paying for when you purchase blue-ray, is maintaining the digital information from the disk in an unconverted form.  You want a direct bit pass through, and you want as little jitter introduced to the signal as possible.  You most certainly don't want the sound card getting in the way, Digtital to Analog converting and then reverse packaging it up and putting it out over the soundcard digital out.  My problem is I'm not familiar enough with computer audio to know how exactly the sounds is transmitted from your blue ray drive to the digital interface you've chosen.
Anyone know why USB digital out would not be a prefered method?

  • Audio output port moves and wont let me plug in my cable

Suddenly, when i try and put in the audio jack for my 2 speakers into my iMac it seems to not click in. When i shined a flash light at it the port it seemed to move when i plugged in the cable. This has all happened rather quickly which is making me confused. I use my iMac for gaming and never plug in cables with a heavy hand as i am young and i promised to look after this iMac. After understanding what has happened, i ask my parents what might have happened and they did not have a clue. My question is whether it is normal for the silver ring inside the port's hole usual moves and why my cable isn't clicking in.
    EDIT:
    - I have tested multiple audio output devices like speakers, earphones and headphones and it still wont click and it still moves.
    - My iMac is running with 8gb of ram, Intel Iris Pro 1GB Graphics card and 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 processor.
If you need any more details please request them.

Clean the lint/debris from the connector.

  • MSI-Gm2-only one channel audio output

    Hi everybody ,
Its nice that guys are working hard to solve every one's problem. Keep it up !
Recently I upgraded the bios version to 1.4 (the latest) also the Realtek HD audio drivers but not system chipset drivers (which is 170mb too big).
Now I am able to hear only right channel of my onboard audio (ALC 888, 8.1 channel i guess) as I am using 2.1 channel. what could be the problem. Is it hardware problem or bios problem. My system configuration is as follows:
                      CPU: Amd 3800+ X2
                      MOBO: MSI-GM2 (690v chipset)
                      MEM: Kingston 1GB 667Mhz
                      VIDEO: onboard (ATI X1200)
                      HDD: Sata 80GB Samsung
If you guys can help me figure out what it is? Thnx in advance !

    Hi!
Chack audio settings in the Realtek console and in Windows Settings -> sound.
Why did you update bios? Was there some compatibility problem with your system that required the flash? If not, then keep in mind that updating bios when it's not needed can cause many problems. So, if nothing helps, you may want to flash back to the old version you had. Same goes for the drivers.
Now, please note: only flash back if nothing else solves this problem! I don't think that flashing the bios lead to this audio problem, so leave the bios alone for now. Try downgrading drivers. Newer drivers aren't always better ones!
Hi Hans! first of all thanks a lot for your kind reply. I updated my BIOS for no such reason. I thought it is always healthy to update BIOS to avoid future compatibilities problem (silly move of me I guess) and be future problem proof. I checked all the possibilities in Realtek concole but no improvement. I now noticed that when I switch off my PC the channel which is dead produces weird sound like shrill noise as the power of speaker is on. As now I switch off the UPS after PC shutdown the noise from the speaker goes off with the noise like Siren fading from High to low.
What do you think this is ? Oh sorry please do not get mad at me as I forgot to mention that I used Audio Splitter at the Line-Out (2.1 channel) to drive independent Audio Systems e.g. 1) low wattage lower end music system. 2) High end Audio system with High wattage. They both were driven simultaneously.
Do you thank I screwed it up ? In any case I shall follow what you suggested i.e. Flash Back to older version. Problem is I do not have Floppy Drive and I do not know how to do it with MSI live update. Your insight solicited and awaiting your expertise. Thnx a lot buddy. You care !

  • Mutli channel audio output via usb?

    Hi there
I've had a browse through the support forums and can't find an answer to my question, so here it is:
I want to split the audio channels through the internal soundcard (I have an ibook g4) so that I can use audio mixing software.
Before I go out and buy some usb speakers, I was wondering if connecting speakers through the usb port would automatically do this - or, is there a way to assign an output route for each channel within the computer?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

You'll need a "usb soundcard" that you can purchase from both apple store or just google it and I'm sure they have them all over the place (ebay, thinkgeek, ect). The built in soundcard is a 2 channel 44khz sound card with 1 output and 1 input via the built in microphone. Also, the only usb speakers I have ever seen are just usb powered, but they still plug in to the headphone plug.

  • Can we change the quality of the output for Blu-Ray?  & 6 Channels Audio output?

I'd like to know how to change the quality of the output of a BD.  'cause i am using an untouched m2ts from a BD which has two audio tracks(encore recognise only one).  The bitrate is 30Mbit + but the output is like 3 Mbit.  What am i doing wrong?
And how to output a 6channels audio?
    Thanks for any help!

I am confused on your workflow here. It seems that you are Importing material that is already in fully BD-compliant form, but then are Transcoding again?
Can you step us through the exact Assets that you are working with, and the steps that you are taking with those Assets?
Also, if you have a muxed MPEG source file, I would rip it to the elemental/elementary streams, as Encore has some issues with muxed MPEG source files. Also, you will want to rip the two Audio streams, and Import those separately. These Assets should show Do Not Transcode, if they are 100% BD-compliant. If they do not, you should be able to force Encore to NOT Transcode them, so the quality should match that of the Imported files exactly, and no more work should need to be done. Remember, that is if they ARE 100% BD-compliant - very important.
If you already have your dual-Audio streams, you will not need the SurCode DD 5.1 SS encoder plug-in, in this case, as that encoding has already been done, or at least I think that it has been done.
Good luck, and we'll be looking for details on your workflow,
    Hunt

  • Digital Audio Output - Mac Pro and New OS/CS5.5 Install

    Hello all...
I hope I can word this properly - had a hard time with a search.
For my audio setup with Production Premium I use an external DAC/Amp which connects to the computer via the optical digital output. I have used this setup for years with no issues, including a year of Adobe Production Premium CS5.
Today I did a fresh install of Snow Leopard, updated to 10.6.8, and then installed (clean) ProductionPremium CS5.5.
I then set up After Effects, Premiere and the OS to use the "built-in digital output"
Here is what is strange - and something I never noticed with previous installations - each application seems to take over the output, and then "release" it when I switch apps.
Let me explain - when the DAC unit gets an audio signal from the optical cable, it makes a small audible click and then a second later the sound comes out of the speakers. With my previous installations, I only heard this click once - when I booted up the computer. After that, the signal stayed locked and I heard everything perfectly.
With this new installation, I have everything set up the same as far as I can tell, and I get sound, but I get that signal click EVERY TIME I switch apps. Working in Premiere, have sound... switch to After Effects, no sound, then click, then sound again. Switch to Premiere, click again. Switch to finder, click.
What's worse, is that Premiere seems to lose control because of this. For example, say I start in Premiere, do some edits, then move to AE. I have sound in Premiere, everything is fine. Do some work ini AE, get the click, but all is still fine, but then back to Premiere, I get the click, but no sound, and Premiere won't play anything back. I hit space and the play button in Program view turns to a stop button, but the time indicator doesn't move and I get no playback. If I go in to prefs, change the audio, and then change it back, Premiere works again!
Besides this headache, I also miss short sounds like system alerts and beeps, because they play before the audio 'locks' in.
EDITED TO ADD: Just noticed this - if I am running either Premiere or After Effects, in the "Sound" System Preference Pane, I get an option to set the output to "After Effects CS5.5" or "Premiere CS5.5" -- so it seems like the OS is treating is separately and switching when I move between apps - this definitely never happened before!
This is baflfing to me because I never had this problem before, and I am aware that my setup is probably not very common, but anyone with insight, please help!
Message was edited by: ScottieB1 to add info about System Pref Pane

Ok so I'm home now and continued my seach... and found this:

I won't be able to try it until back in the studio tomorrow but it may just be what I need - will report back here. Seems that it is an OS issue though and not an Adobe one.
