Help: Hotmail messages won't delete in Mail

I've had this super annoying problem since I installed Leopard: whenever I receive a message on my hotmail account, it's impossible to delete, and it will keep showing up as unread everytime I throw it in the trash, until I finally delete it in my hotmail page. Why is that? I got the same settings for another email account and it works fine..
Thanks

I fear that they are key stroke readers and I want to know how
to get rid of them.
Having key stroke readers or spyware requires installing spyware. Do these messages include attachments that you opened? Even so, installing a program that is spyware requires entering your admin password.
The account's Junk mailbox may have some corruption. If this email account is a POP type account, do the following:
Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account) > Junk.mbox. The Junk.mbox within the account named folder represents the account named Junk mailbox under Junk in the mailboxes drawer.
Delete the Junk.mbox and empty the Trash.
Launch Mail and a new Junk.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the account named folder when the next spam message received is automatically or manually marked as Junk.

  • IPhone messages won't delete, can't free enough space?

    Hello,
I'm on an iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.1. I'm almost out of storage... I have 8.96 GB of "Documents & Data" and 8.51 GB of "Other."
Usage in settings indicates that I have 8.8 GB of messages saved. So I have to delete my messages. However, even after I restart, all my messages reappear and I have not freed any space. How come the messages keep reappearing when I try to delete them? Is there a way for me to delete them permanently?
And, what is this "other" category that is taking up so much space? I know that other used to be app data, but now with iOS 7 that has been split up into "Documents & Data."
So, how come my messages won't delete? Is there a way for me to permanently delete them to free space?
And how can I clear up space from my "Other" category?
Thanks so much for the help!

There is corrupted data on the phone.  You need to restore the phone using iTunes, without restoring a backup.

  • Messages won't delete from inbox

Just upgraded to iOS7 on both iphone 4s and ipad2. In mail, on both devices (which are linked) deleted messages won't erase from the inbox - even though they have been permanently deleted from the mail editor on my computer. When I swipe left and hit trash, the message goes away for one second then reappears. I've tried re-booting the phone, didn't work. I definitely have the right passwords associated with the mail account in place. And haven't made any other changes to the mail settings since upgrading the operating system. I noticed that no one else has posted this problem using iOS7 yet, but have seen some threads using earlier formats - none of which were helpful in fixing my problem   thoughts? suggestions?

  • Mailbox Issue - Won't Delete ANY mail

    Hi there,
I seem to have an issue with Mailbox on my MacBook Air. Please note: I did NOT have the issue on my iMac, before I sold it and reset it. Both Mailbox accounts were set up exactly the same.
I have a hotmail account which I have set up through Mailbox. I can send and receive with no issues at all. The only thing I can't do is delete the mail. I have over 15,000 junk emails and can't delete them. It's exactly the same with my Sent and Trash folders. I like a nice clean Mailbox - this isn't good for my OCD!
    Regards,
    James

Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Advanced tab for the account preferences, is "Remove copy from server after retrieving a message" selected and if so, what is your selection below for removing messages from the server when downloaded by the Mail.app?

  • Random messages won't display in Mail

    Hi,
Using Mail 2.0.8 on a MacBook Pro 2GHz running Mac OS X 10.4.5.
Main account is set-up as IMAP. Recently, I began noticing that some messages will not display in Mail, nor will they be marked as read. The message shown in the preview pane is:
The message from <sender> <sender email> concerning “subject” has not > been downloaded from the server. You need to take this account online in > order to download it.
However, the account is online. All other messages received at the same time display properly. There are no characteristics common among or unique to messages that behave like this, at least as far as I can discern. Ultimately, without any specific actions, the messages will display properly.
If I go to my webmail account and read the message, Mail will update soon after to show that it has been read. So clearly the account is online, as Mail can send and receive commands to set the status. Still, the message will not display.
Has anyone experienced similar behavior, and have you found a solution?
    Thanks!
    Patrick

    Ernie, David, et al,
Perhaps I spoke too soon. I continue to have the same problem with Mail and my IMAP accounts, which are advancing beyond annoying. I am now considering moving to another email application, which is something I really don't want to do. Following is a brief update:
    * After moving the Mail folder and plist file to my desktop, restarting Mail and entering my accounts again, it worked properly for a short period of time. The behavior reappeared soon thereafter. (I had mboxes on my Mac, not on the server, and for some reason I cannot import them again).
    * I have a bad habit of using my email as a file system, so my inbox was huge. So I took the time to create a bunch of mboxes, file messages, and otherwise clean my inbox. It's now 1/4 the size it was. I'm also trying to habitualize dealing with email and attachments to either file or delete messsages when the come in (so far, so good).
    * When I get a message that exhibits this behavior, I can now Rebuild the mailbox and the message will show. Rebuild occurs quickly because my mailbox is so much smaller, and I've not lost any messages. The messages that previously would not display at all now display properly. However, I must Rebuild every time I receive a message of this type, which occurs several times per day.
    * It appears that messages with attachments display properly, but those without do not. It also appears to be highly likely that all the messages originate from an Exchange Server (I know this to be true of several clients, and others are very likely). I also know for a fact that many that I receive properly are not using Exchange Server.
    * Calendar invitations from Notes work as intended (show up in Mail as ICS files, notifications appear in iCal which allow me to set my status and reply); however, those from Exchange Server only show as text messages (and don't display until I rebuild).
It appears to me that the problem may lie, at least in my case, to how Mail handles Exchange Server items in IMAP mode, and not just an IMAP bug, but again, I cannot isolate this and be 100% certain.
    Will keep you posted.

  • Extrovert 2 message won't delete

My husband downgraded his iPhone to a LG EXTROVERT 2.  Around 2 weeks (after the 14 day return period)  it started receiving blank messages that will not delete.  Now we can delete some of the messages one at a time, but he is still getting blank ones, and his inbox is getting full.  We tried a reset, and it didn't 't help the messages were still there.    Obviously this is an issue with the phone, and we would like to be able to exchange or return it.  I would like to email Verizon and request information on what I can do, in writing, but I can not find an email address, and the chat is always busy when I am online.
If anyone knows a way to fix this issue with the phone.  Let me know.   If there is a way to contact Verizon via email let me know as well.  We have been with Verizon since the took over Alltel years ago.  We are not looking to switch, just need to get this phone issue fixed.

Have you tried dialing 611 from your phone to speak with customer service about it or do you have a store close enough to walk into for help.  Mary

  • Need help with Mail - Hotmail .. actual hotmail account won't delete

Hello, first post! I just purchased a mac last week. First one ever so i'm learning to use the programs and having some fun. I opened up the mail application and synced with my gmail account just fine. I then added a 2nd account which was my hotmail account. I'm not happy with how the hotmail account syncs with mac mail application. The problem arises when i try to delete the Hotmail account i added. I right clicked and selected "delete account" and it deleted all my email but the Hotmail inbox icon will not delete and i am still getting new emails into the inbox. I'm not sure if i explained this correctly so feel free to ask for clarification. Does anyone know how i can get rid of my hotmail account from my macbook mail application for good?

  • Mail messages won't delete

    Hey Gang,
I've tried a lot of things to get rid of these email's i don't want.  They keep reappearing, and when I search something related in the magnify glass, the messages keep coming up on my computer.  I've tried deleting them and empty the trash but i just can get rid of them.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Would be nice to know what email provider you are using. If it's Gmail then Mac Mail has a problem deleting emails off the Gmail servers when they are deleted in Mac Mail. There may be a setting in Mac Mail for that but I don't know what or where it is as I used Mac Mail for about 1-2 days before I dumped it and switch to a Good Email program.
To get rid of those emails you have to logon to the Gmail web interface and delete them from there then make sure you empty the Gmail Trash.
This also applies for other Email providers. I was using Gmail as a reference.

  • Inbox messages won't appear on Mail

My ymail account won't sync to my Mail. I'm on OS X. I'm not too sure what happened. All my other accounts like hotmail and another yahoo mail are synced and I can access my messages. I tried deleting the account but it's still the same.

it depends on how is your Outlook configured to fetch the emails. Do you leave them on the email server ? If not, then once Outlook has swallowed them, the Blackberry device can't see them on the server.

  • My hotmail messages aren't deleting on my mobile apple devices

I can't get my iPhone 5c or my iPad Mini to sync with my hotmail account. I can send and receive mail just fine but when I delete mail on my mobile devices it does not delete from my regular hotmail account. I checked my email the other day on the computer and had about 2 weeks worth of emails still marked as unread and had to delete over 600 off of my account. My personalized mail folders also don't show on my iPhone. Please help!!

I have Solved this issue with ios 7. All you have to do is delete your account in your iphone and ipad and then re add the account through outlook option in your iphone/ipad. this will automatically delete any emails from any where. for example, if you delete from the iphone it will delete from the main server and the ipad, and if you do it in the server it will also update your iphone and ipad.
    I hope this helps.

  • Messages won't delete

I just bought a new IMac and transferred my mailboxes from an eMac. The messages in my inbox that I had before transferred just fine, however the text from the message isn't there and now they won't even delete out of my inbox. When I move them to the trash or delete them, they just turn gray and stay there. I don't even need to recover them...just want my inbox empty. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

rebuilding the mailbox wouldn't work for me and neither did moving the Envelope Index file. I finally realized that my Mailbox Behaviors specified to not "Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox." this box was unchecked. Once I checked off this box all my mail which was once gray and just sitting there disappeared. I'm guessing 10.5.2 or some other update changed this setting since this issue was a recent one for me.

  • When deleting message in AOL, message is also deleted in Mail on computer

I access my mail through AOL. When I delete a message from within the AOL account, it is also deleting it from Mail. Is there a way to delete from within AOL and have the message stay in my Mail account on my computer?
    Thanks for the help.

Your account is set up as IMAP I am sure. With an IMAP account, change you make in one email client will be reflected in another email client. That is how an IMAP account works, and for many users that is one strong advantage. If you set up your account as POP, changes you would make in email client - directly in AOL - would not show up in another - Leopard mail.
    hope this helps

  • Old Email Messages Won't Delete

Here's an interesting situation (and a first for me): I have about 6-8 emails that I received at various times this week (ironically, at the time that my network was down from the 7.4.1 Airport Update). When I highlight each message individually, the body of the message does not appear in the preview pane, like all other messages I received before these messages, and have received since. Then, when I try to delete them, the message grays out, but will not delete from the Mail window. Any idea what causes this, and how I can delete them for good? (I like neat and tidy Mail windows...!) Thanks.

Try rebuilding the mailbox. (Select it, then choose Mailbox -> Rebuild.)

  • RSS Feeds won't delete in Mail

I have several RSS feeds coming into my INBOX. Once I read them, I delete them which places them in my TRASH. So far so good. But after I empty my TRASH and go to check new messages in my INBOX, they all show back up as new. Anyone got an answer?

I fear that they are key stroke readers and I want to know how
    to get rid of them.
