HELP? How can I recover access to user accounts 10.6.8?

NEED HELP!
Thought the time was right so I upgraded to 10.8 from 10.6. However, I was unaware that Power PC programs don't function in 10.8 so I reinstalled 10.6. from my instalation disc.
There are 3 user accounts on my computer, mine, my son's and my wife's. When booting up I was only able to access my wife's user account. When logging into either my son's or my account all I got was a "jiggle" indicating that the password was wrong. I pretty sure the reason this happened is that my son and I logged in while in 10.8. whereas my wife didn't.
I opened the user preference pane and tried to reset my password (and my son's) but that didn't work.
So my question is, what do I do to recover my son's and my user accounts?

I fixed the problem. Using the boot disc I was able to reset the password. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH6317.

i use migrate assistant to move files from my old pc to the new Mac , but it creates the user account. How can i delete the unwanted user account.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
That's the classic behaviour after using Migration Assistant and that's normal.
To transfer the data from the new user account to your old user account, you can follow some steps. Here is all the information you need to do this > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-5472

  • Help, How can I recover my lost photos from my iPhone 4 without backup?

I have a lot of photos   stored in my iPhone 4, but yesterday, I pressed the wrong button and my entire photos  was deleted, very sadly. There are many import photos   that stored for 1 year. I hope to recover them backup, I tried many data recovery tool, but it won’t recognize my iPhone 4, why and how can I recover my sms? If there any other tool can help? Thanks.

Even if you haven’t backed up your iPhone with iTunes manually, iTunes might have backed up it automatically each time you sync your iPhone with iTunes. If you have enabled iCloud, every time, your iPhone is connected to Wifi and a power source, and the screen is locked, iCloud will automatically backup your photos. So try to restore the deleted photos from iTunes or iCloud backup first if the backups were created before the deletion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
If you don’t want to restore your iPhone with an out-of-date backup, erase all the content and settings on your iPad, and go back to an older iOS version, try to extract your iPhone photos from your iTunes or iCloud backup with the iPhone backup extractor.
Other than restoring from iTunes or iCloud backup, there are still at least 3 other solutions for you to recover deleted photos from iPhone:
    Extracting from previous iTunes backup;
    Retrieving directly from iPhone;
    Copying from other backups.
As for recovering SMS, see this iPhone SMS recovery tutorial.

  • How can I recover a I tunes account

How can I recover a iTunes account I once had before but simply do not remember any information

Do you have any of the account's downloads in your computer's iTunes library ? If you do then you should be able to get the id from them : Recovering a forgotten iTunes Store account name
Or if you have any of its downloads on a backup drive then if you try to add them to your computer's iTunes library (File > Add To Library) then you should be prompted to verify the account, which should show you the id.
Or you could see if you could find it via 'find your apple id' on http://appleid.apple.com : Apple ID: How to find your Apple ID

  • How Can I Login To Multiple User Accounts Simultaneously

I am using an Intel iMac (2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) with 1GB of memory and 10.4.11. I have Fast User Switching enabled. I restart the Mac every morning. Then I login to a second user account. While at work, I access these accounts via VNC.
Sometimes I forget to login to the second user account. I do it from work via VNC, which sometimes causes complications.
Does OSX support simultaneous multiple user account login? If not, is there a work-around solution such as an AppleScript? This would provide a time savings to me, as well as a convenience if I forgot to login to the second user account before leaving home.
    Thank you.
    Kurt R. Todoroff

Seems to me, in another discussion, the simple Fast User Switching does not
do much really fast or automatically; there are a few faster steps than having
to log into each and every account change (even when FUS is enabled) so
this later development sounds a little more automatic, esp over a distance.
Is there a third party app or valid script that an do the multiple logins automatic
after the first-run; so passwords need not be re-entered, and the screen can just
switch over "fast" to another open account window, ready to go to work in there?
    {And not just a keyboard shortcut to save a few little steps, overall.}
    Whichever way the road turns...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I retrieve my old user account?

    Hi,
I migrated my old iMac to my new 27" iMac and did it wirelessly via the internet and it took ages. Apple support told me to do it this way because my old iMac is 400 Firewire and my new one only has 800 Firewire and I only had a 400 Firewire cord.
I was told to choose the no I don't want to migrate when I went through registering my computer. I then got it set up with internet and then went into Migration Assistant. I told the woman I spoke too that it was going to create a problem with my old user account and she said I could just delete it.
Here is my dilemma. My old user account is called Pink Tuley (which has all my information, documents etc. on it), I created a new account called Tuley and you guessed it it's a shell with nothing there. All my stuff in on Pink Tuley and when I go to MacintoshHD users and locate my Pink Tuley folder there are a bunch of folders that I can't open (they have that red circle with a white bar in the middle of them). How do I make Pink Tuley my main account or get all the Pink Tuley stuff onto my new Tuley account? I hope there is a way to figure this out.

    Niel,
Thanks that was easy. Now can I go and delete the new user account I created when I first registered this computer? I have a few user accounts from my old machine I don't use, can I delete those also or is it best to leave them alone?

I used time machine to backup all the data from my macbook and then I used the migration assistant on my imac and transfer those data to the imac.
Everything was successful and after that. I can see the new user account under my hard drive > User folder but I dont have privilege to open the file.
And on the other hand, I got no way to login that user ID.

what do you mean? do you mean the migrated user doesn't show up at the login window? or that the password doesn't work?
    How can I fix that?

  • How can I delete old & inactive user account datawith a script?

there is a mac 10.4 server that has many old user folders. too many to delete one by one. there is no grouping of users. all of them are in the /user folder
I want a script that will check the folders in the /user direcotry against the OD users. If a user for that folder does not exist then it will rm or move to trash or an /inactive users or /olduser folder.
    thanks for any help
it is the same question in this thread but was not answered really well at all
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1081185&tstart=0

Well, the problem with rm the folder is that it still leaves data hanging around (profile, home drive, etc.) I was really hoping for something that would sweep up everything from people that are no longer in the OpenDirectory database.
Anyway, I'll close this question by saying thanks for trying.

  • How can I merge two different user accounts without loosing stuff

I have several Apple products and long ago set up two separate Apple accounts by accident.  Now I want to merge the two into one, but be sure not to loose any pictures, etc. that may be stored with one or the other.  Is there a way to do this?

Sorry, no. You can't merge or delete Apple ID's.

  • How can I change my AD user accounts to unmanaged?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to put together a Leopard Mac Pro build and run into a problem that I've replicated on a 1year old Macbook Pro. I'm Running fully patched 10.5.2 on both machines. Binding to AD is no problem. After logging in with an AD account, the Login Items screen in Accounts is unreachable. I've heard that setting the account to unmanaged will fix this. The AD accounts do show as "managed" in the Accounts prefs pane. However, holding down option key while logging in does not bring up the management settings window. The option key does the trick in Tiger, but does nothing on either Leopard machines.
Does anyone know of an alternate method to set the account to unmanaged?
    Thanks,
    -jb

  • How can I recovered a form that I delete by mistake?

I nee someone help, How can I recovered a form that I create and later on I deleted by mistake? Thank you in advance for your prompt answer

    Hi;
I am sorry to say that there isn't any method to recover a deleted form.  There is a confirmation dialog saying that this is a permanent deletion to ensure that is what you want to do, once you've confirmed the form is really deleted and not recoverable.
    Thanks,

  • Can I enable the root user account from the log in screen when I am locked out of the machine?

    Hello everyone,
I am working on my friends mac to get it ready to sell. I went into the advanced options of the user and changed the name of the account. That's all I changed. I did read the warning that said if anything was changed it could cause damage, that's why I only changed the name of the user account. I didn't want to mess with anything else. Well, needless to say, I am locked out of the machine. Apparently the root user, system administrator, account was not enabled and I am stuck at the screen that I can get to with my installation disc. So how can I enable the root user account and get back onto the machine from the screen I am at? Can I enable the root user from terminal? I spent a good 8 hours yesterday researching this topic and have come up empty. Changing passwords from commands in terminal is not the problem. I am given just one account to choose from to log on and it's not accepting the password because of the changes I made in the advanced options menu.
Is there any hope of getting this thing going again? Or have I just screwed myself over?
    Thanks for your help!
    Leah

    You can reset the password.

Do you need to recover data from it before you sell it?  If not you can just wipe the disk and prepare it for sale.
