HELP! How come I can see images I've deleted in iPhoto library folder on iMovie?

I've deleted these images off my iPhoto library as well a emptied my trash. Although when i go onto iMovie the images are there supposably in the iPhoto library folder but are unable to be located but are able to be viewed. How do I erase this? Do I have to erase the cached iPhoto library and if so how?

Can i make an alias of an iPhoto Library folder?

so i've decided that i'm going to try and tinker with Bridge that comes with Photoshop Elements, but of course, I can't access my pictures from iPhoto in Bridge. I just need to play with both iPhoto and Bridge to see which will work out better for me.
I don't want to corrupt any files....so googling (my "research" method) I came across this http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20070813153307986
basically telling me to "In the Finder, navigate to the iPhoto Library, control-click and select Show Package Contents from the pop-up folder. Now create an alias for the Modified and/or Original folders within the package (your preference) and drag it/them to another folder on your drive."

Is that ok? I'm pretty sure I want to make an alias of my Original Folder, but I don't want to corrupt anything. All my pictures are now on iPhoto - my External Harddrive that I used to transfer backup my PC stuff & keep extra pics and music to free up PC space has now been converted to use as Time Machine. So I don't really have anything else with the pictures backed up but that Time Machine.
by the way - Pros and Cons with Bridge and iPhoto would be greatly appreciated. I understand iPhoto will basically work with Mac stuff better - but I don't even know how to use iDVD, iMovie, etc. Bridge, I've been told, is good because I can keep my pictures in psd format instead of jpg therefore i'm able to keep layers.

Yes, that would be OK. Just move the Originals copy folder to the Desktop when done. Or you can *Option drag* the Originals folder to the Desktop where the duplicates will be created leaving the Originals folder safe in the library.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

How come I can see my div in design view but not in live view

Hi,
I have a div ID called "portfolio" that I can see in design view but not live view or on a browser. It's a little pink square and I want that square round also.
I ran it through validator. It picked up some things in the style.css which I changed and the boilerplate.css that I did not. Because I thought DW auto creates code for boilerplate because I don't enter that code myself.
It's also rejecting a lot of webkit code but this seems like standard webkit code that works elsewhere on the page.
BTW: at what point does this brutal hand coding pay off in money and less heartache when Wordpress looks cleaner and is so much easier to use? I feel like I barely know HTML or CSS in terms of translating vision to reality and with all-browser functionality after months and months of on-line classes. How long are the pros at it till they reach a watershed point?

The top:-300 is putting that div above the top of the browser viewport. Fix that and you'll see the div.

Sharing Permissions: How come I can see my ENTIRE Mac??

I am running a MacBook Pro on a Windows network. I am able to connect to each computer fine. Yay! My problem: when I open my Mac from my Windows machine I can see my ENTIRE Mac HD on the network. How do I stop this?!?

Well, I don't know that much about sharing with Windows, but you use "My Network Places" to log into a specific user account on the Mac, using the account name and it's password (logging in to an account from the Windows machine will let you see all the files and folders in that account). Sharing between Macs allows you to log in as a guest, which only gives you access to Public folders, but I don't know if this is available from Windows sharing. If not, and you want to limit the access to files on your machine, you can create a "guest" account on the Mac, place files that you want to share into the /Users/Shared folder, and log into the guest account from the Windows machine (the guest account will have access to the Shared folder, but not other accounts).

Yes I was able to send but not receive - I actually was able to solve it myself
Everything on the menu bar was greyed out - so nothing there helped me @ all
Connection Doctor didn't show anything wrong
activity box was completely blank
shutdown - restart didn't work
I used the help option - still nothing
All the while my phone was vibrating like crazy with new emails
It was really frustrating & it seemed apple themselves don't have any real solutions to offer
My instincts told me to delete the email completely - so I did
After a few min I added the email account like a new one and it eventually worked - all my new emails were there, I still don't know why it stopped in the 1st place
Pretty much all the problems I run into I troubleshoot myself and find the solution

How come you can't stream photos from a primary library that is "paired"?

I think someone else commented about this as well but I never really saw an answer as to why Apple doesn't allow this. How come you can only stream from a shared or secondary library but for a primary or "paired" libray you have to sync photos. If you can stream from a primary it is not working for me.

It's behaving correctly for you, you cannot stream photos from a primary library. Why I don't know, the software has gone through several stages and various options have been offered, so I can only assume it's not an oversight but a deliberate restriction for the better.

Because you can only synce with one iTunes library and you are switching libries by using the new computer. To nake this yyour syncing computer:
- Move all the media(apps, music, synced video and photos etc) to the new computer.
- Connect the iPofd yo the computer and bake a backup fo the iPod by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the backup that iTunes makes doe not include media.

HT2404 I just clicked on Software Updates; BUT nothing shows what's happening? How come I can't see the updates & time it will take?

Help! I just got this Lion, and SO many changes & not necessarily for the better !
I went to the Apple icon, but "Software Updates" did not show ... though I had deferred installing some updates ...
Finally it showed up, I clicked on it, saw the updates to do - BUT when I clicked on install - the "box" that usually shows the updates & how long to install - just disappeared! I can't get to it to see what's next. (I have to leave soon & will turn off the mac)
What's happening? How come I can't see the updates as they are installed, & how much time it will take?
How do I know IF they have been installed? Is this the "new Normal" for Lion? Or is there a glitch in my mac somewhere?
How about updates you download from Apple (not bought) - they go to Downloads on the Sideboard, but are they installed automatically, & put where they belong too? Is there no more restart, etc.?
- I just went to Systems Preference, to see the "Installed Software" - shows they were ... but don't I have to restart anymore? Are all updates now automatically placed where they belong?

You are correct on the fact that you can delete a song directly from your iPhone by swiping from right to left over the song:
Remove a song that’s been downloaded. Swipe left, then tap Delete.

If the song was purchased from the iTunes Store and has a cloud icon to the right of it, it is being streamed from iTunes in the Cloud and not actually on your device. You can hide the song by accessing the iTunes Store on the computer:
To hide your purchases
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
From the Store menu, choose Store > Sign In, and then enter your Apple ID and password.
Go to the iTunes Store.
Click Purchased from the Quick Links section on the right side of the iTunes Store.
Choose a content type by clicking on Music, TV Shows, Apps, or Books from top.
Hover your cursor over the item you want to hide.
You will see an "X" either to the right or left top corner of the item.
Click the "X" to hide that item. A confirmation dialog will appear once you click the "X."

I see that you have changed around the DE a little again. How come we can no longer see how many responses have been made to each question? I found that to be useful when looking through the posts.

I found this bit of info about the way Nike+ works on the iPhone and iPod Touches versus the way it works with other model iPods.
Your iPod touch or iPhone 3GS or later wirelessly sends workout data to nikeplus.com from wherever you are on the road. So right after your run, you can track your progress and analyze your performance. If you walk or run with iPod nano, workout data is sent to nikeplus.com when you connect it to your Mac or PC.

How come I can't see my iPhoto library when uploading?

When I want to upload a photo to the internet, craigslist.org for instance. I click upload to browse for photo then go to my photos but the iPhoto library icon is grayed out. I know how to get around it by dragging the selected photos to my desktop then uploading those. It takes forever to open iphoto so i rarely open it, but all my pictures are in there and there is no other way to get to them other than opening them. Is there an easier way? Why?

With iPhoto 7 (iLife 08) the old iPhoto Library Folder is now a Unix Style Package File. The change was made to the format of the iPhoto library because many users were inadvertently corrupting their library by browsing through it with other software or making changes in it themselves.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
For 10.5 users: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.

To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto. With 10.5 you can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:

*If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.*
*Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS*
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
I've highlighted the one's that may be of most use to you.
