Help, how do i find out the host server for a website i have inherited
hi i inherited responcibilty for a website, simply because
there was noone else avalable. i have dreamweaver cs3, but only
about 2 weeks worth of knowledge and experience. I was given info
ie. ftp address and username etc, so have been able to download the
website to my home computer, and have been making updates, now
however i need to find out more about setting up a test server so i
can use dynamic pages, specifically for collecting form
information, collecting donations and selling art work. i will need
some information from the host server to start with, but am unsure
as how to identify and contact them, can anyone help me please. I
am sure it is rudimentary, but the information is essential.
also as a side note, could anyone tell me how to find out
where the websites domain name is regestered ( other than
contacting the original designer, as that seem quite impossible)
because i get the feeling that if all else fails i may be able to
move the website to another host ( not that i now how yet, or even
how to select or find a host) please let me know if any of my
assumptions are wrong.

Hi,
To find out about the host, go to register.com and look up
the domain name.
When it gives you results, it'll say that the name is already
taken, but it
will let you do a 'whois' on it.
Those results can give you some info such as the server DNS.
That may let
you figure out the host.
Sometimes the technical contact in the whois, is the host as
well.

THANK YOUYou can't tell by the email address since you can pretty much put whatever you want in there (especially if the SMTP server is not filtering anything).
The header may be able to tell you something. There is a Received header value which looks like it has the routing information although I am not sure if this is a complete trace or just the last hop the message took.

I did not found an option in the settings?If you hover your mouse over the workspace you'll see the directory where the jws file is stored.
For each project in the workspace you can go to the project properties and look up information in the content node of the preference - there you can also change the location preferences for where code is created. -

So the fact that you're getting a receipt doesn't mean that your credit card is being charged. Look at the balance shown at the upper-right of the iTunes window when you're on the iTunes Store, just to the left of where it shows your account ID. If charges are going to your credit balance, that will be decreasing as you make purchases, though sometimes you have to sign out of your account and back in to refresh the display.

How to I find out the correct password for wifi ipod?
I had to reset my ipod to get rid of the waiting apps that had dl. When I did that I tried to go into the internet but says the password is wrong. I've gone into my router and reset the password used it still says wrong password. I have no idea how to get the correct password for the wifi or where to look. TIA mary
Find the name and model number of the router and go to the manufacturer's support site and download the manual. It will tell you what the default password is. Sometimes the default passwoard is written on the router.

How can I find out the serial number for my FCE 4.0 that came with my old MacBook Pro?
When I try and open my old FCE projects on my new MacBook Pro, a dialog box pops up and asks me to input the serial number for my Final Cut Express program. The software came pre-loaded on my old MacBook Pro which died. Luckily, my local Apple store was able to transfer the fcp files to my new MacBook Pro, which came with FCP X installed. I just can't open those files without the serial number of the FCE 4.0 program.
Message was edited by: Garyb1978It is almost impossible to transfer FCE as there are so many essential hidden files that workers in an Apple Store will know nothing about. The app needs to be installed from the original DVD.
Other than buying another copy your only chance (very remote) is to contact the Apple Store and see if they are able to get a replacement number from Apple. -

How do I find out the ID number for a Podcast?
I want to link to a few different podcasts in itunes from my website . I have seen links that include a podcast ID number, such as ...viewPodcast?id=xxx, but I can not see where to find the ID number of the podcasts I want to link to.

Didn't the link to contact the iTunes Store staff in the 'Additional Information' section of that article work for you? If you don't already have a valid rescue email address, only Apple itself can reset the questions; nobody on these boards can.

Probably. You'll need to make sure that VB guest can see your USB ports. You'll need the VB wiki pages for that though.

I created an applescript to create a reminder from Quicksilver, but I want it to show the reminder once it has been created if Reminders was already open. If I use this, then another reminder with the same name sometimes gets shown. How do I find out the ID of a reminder when I create it and set it to a variable so that it will select the reminde I want it to, and if this is not possible, how should I do it?
