Help! how do I get a windows license and s/w to load windows?

I am "microsoft windows" illiterate. I have been an apple user for many many moons (over 25 years). I just got a new job where I need to run visual C# on a windows system. Since I don't want to go out and purchase a windows system, running boot camp seem viable. I don't know how to get a windows license and software to load up a boot camp partition so I can load the visual c# software on it.
Could someone please help me?
Thanks!

Hi Diana,
I am just as Windows illiterate as you, but have always imagined that the only way to do this is to buy their retail package.
This looks like the cheapest alternative:
