Help: How do I get to the current desktop?

Question

I've tried to dynamically load a new Shell, Look and Feel, Navigation Menu but it requires access to the current Desktop. Is there any methods I can use to get to that desktop (DesktopView, DesktopInstanceId, DesktopInstance) via the request object?

From a JSP you should use the DesktopPresentationContext:
DesktopPresentationContext dpc = DesktopPresentationContext.getDesktopPresentationContext(request);
From a backing file you should use the DesktopBackingContext:
DesktopBackingContext dbc = BackingPresentationContext(request);
Or are you trying to do something else? There is an EJB manager that provides access to definitions, views, etc.:
AppContext ac = AppContext.getAppContext(request);
InitialContext ic = new InitialContext();
DesktopDefinitionManagerHome home = (DesktopDefinitionManagerHome) PortableRemoteObject.narrow(ic.lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/DesktopDefinitionManager"), DesktopDefinitionManagerHome.class);
DesktopDefinitionManager mgr = home.create();
CustomizationContext cc = new CustomizationContext(request);
DesktopDefinition[] dd = mgr.getDesktopDefinitions(cc, ac.getWebAppName());
Or is there something else you're trying to do?
