HELP how do you import videos onto itunes

How can you import home videos onto itunes or any video that is not from the music store i can not find this info any where. It tells you that you need to convert your home video to sync with ipod but i can not even get it onto itunes.

Try getting software like Cucusoft ipod video converter. It works really well, home movie's, films etc

  • How do you import music onto ITUNES if you have two IPODS

Question: I have two IPODS. I can't seem to figure out how to import all the music on my old IPOD onto ITUNES so I can put new music in my library as well as m new IPOD. Can you please help! Also, when I plug in my old IPOD it says it is in WIndows format. Is this a problem.
    Thanks,

Macs can read Windows formatting so you should have no problem using your iPod with your Macbook. One proviso is that up until now Apple has only fully supported using the iPod shuffle in FAT32 format on Mac (unless the range has been expanded to include the iPhone and the iPod Touch which I've no experience of). What this means effectively is that if you need to apply a firmware update for your iPod and you wanted to maintain the Windows format you would have to do it on a PC. If you were to try and update a Windows based iPod on a Mac it would be restored and reformatted to the Mac file system and have the Mac firmware installed.
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
    Senuti Mac Only
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac & Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

how do you import video to Aperture or imovie from a dvd with a unix executable file?

Allan's suggestion of using the iDisk will work but will fill up the iDisk unless you do housecleaning occasionally. Another, non Apple way would be to upload them to an account on Twango.com. It sort of like MyTube but for photos and videos and is more personal in nature. It's free (monthly uploads are limited to 250MB/mo) and others can easily pop into your public channel (individual sections of a person's account are called channels) and download whatever size you want. You can select the size of your uploads from full sized to 1600, 1024 or 640 pixels max. What I like about the site is that you can email photos to your account. Makes it rather easy. You can also add slideshows and a ticker tape type of display from Twango to web pages (they create the code to use for the channel you select) like this. It's not an Apple thing but I've found it's quick. May or may not be what you're looking for.
    Do you Twango?

  • How do I upload videos onto iTunes?

I'm using a PC and I don't know how to get videos onto iTunes (and then onto my iPod)
First of all, what are the types of video files that are compatible? I've tried .avi, .flv, and .mpg, but only .mpg worked so far (BUT! it wouldn't upload onto my iPod??)
Can someone please help me with this?? iTunes made me delete all my music on my iPod in order to sync videos, but what's the point if I can't put any videos on there anyway?

The file must meet the following specifications to play correctly.
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
    -or-
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats.

  • How do you sort video in itunes

in itunes you have the video section then you have 4 subsections Movies,Music Videos, Podcasts, and Tv Shows.
How do you sort the different video in itunes from all vidoes to those subsections

ben7072 - I just found this on the discussions board: "Under View Options in the View menu, check the box that says Artist. Then rearrange your shows by Artist instead of Show."
It does work. Obviously, the Artist needs to be the same a Show for it to truly fix our problem here... this is the case for me.
I'd still like to know what the real problem is though...

  • How to import videos onto itunes?

    hey everyone..
i just downloaded a video online, and it is in mpeg4 form, and i'm trying to import this video from my desktop to my TV Shows folder in iTunes. i clicked on TV shows in iTunes, then went to import, choose my video, and nothing happened, it didn't load or show up on my TV shows list... my quicktime player is the most updated one, and so is my iTunes. i don't get it. what should i do? any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks.

also, i do not have quick time pro. i tried selecting my video, then "get info", and tried to set it as "tv show"/"video" instead of movie.. but when i tried to do that, it did not give me an option to change it. i also downloaded MPEG Streamclip, but i have no idea how to use it, or what to do with it! sorry, total technophobe here! thanks again.

  • How do you import video that was on VHS that is now on DVD into FCE 4?

The footage that I will be using is was on VHS and was then put on to DVD. I just have no idea if and how to import it into FCE 4. All the footage is archival that was on VHS and is being used in a documentary. So it would be great to know how to do this and any help would be great! ohh I'm also new to the FCE 4 world!

    Welcome to the forum!
It would be better to work with the VHS directly as DVD-Video is highly compressed. But if that's all you have to work with, you have two options: hardware or software.
The hardware method involves connecting a DVD player's analog outputs to a qualified DV device (camcorder, VTR or converter) then connecting the DV device to your Mac via Firewire.
The software method means using MPEG Streamclip or DVDxDV to convert the DVD's VOB files into an editable format.

  • How do you import music from itunes to Final Cut Express 4?

I tried dragging and dropping the file from itunes to Final Cut Express, but that doesn't work, so I tried to import a file using the "import file" and that didn't work either. Then I found the original file using finder, and dragged it into Final Cut Express, which did put the file there, and I can hear the audio in the sample player, but when I try to play it in the sequence, this weird beeping happens. Any help?

The beeping is relating to audio you have placed into your sequence that doesn't match your sequence settings, therefore needing to be rendered.
Here is an article for iTunes to FCE http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93165 and here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93463 that should aid with addressing your current audio woes.
