I had searched for a long while and had no found!
can anyone tell me how to buy or download sun one certificate server 4.7 ,netscape certificate server or iplanet CMS 4.2
thanks!
The SunOne certificate server was EOLed by Sun some time ago.
However, RedHat recently purchased Netscape Certificate server which is based on the same iPlanet codebase as SunOne but has numerous additional features including a smartcard and USB token management system.

How to encrypt password in Sun ONE directory server?
Hi,
I'm trying to perform an update to a password field in Sun ONE directory server using JNDI, but the stored password does not get encrypted by the directory server. I've searched the forum, and only found examples on how to do so for Active Directory. Please help.
ThanksYou didn't make mention of setting up ssl on the server side, so search these boards for openssl. Some nice person uploaded an nice example of how do use openssl to do this.
To get the ssl certs for the solaris-client ssl authentication ( tls:simple ) to work you will need to use netscape to connect to the ssl port to get the right format. There are comments in that same doc on how to do that. -

polyuitjerryStat failure is caused when either Fastcgistub or app-path is not accessible.
Is "Fastcgistub" executable too in /i03_01/SUNWebSP6/bin directory ? If not, then copy it to that directory. Make sure it has exec permission.
Do you see Fastcgistub process ? If yes, then check the app-path (/i03_01/php-fcgi/bin/php). Is it accessible ?
And also, check "Fastcgistub.log" file under <webserver-temp-dir> directory for any error msgs. -
How to deploy .war on Sun ONE Web Server 6.0?
Hi Everyone
I have been trying unsuccessfully to deploy a .war application using Sun One Web Server 6.0.
I only installed Sun ONE for the first time this morning and don't know much about web servers - yet.
I deployed the web application from the web-based admin console. I'm not sure exactly what to put in the URI field. I just deployed it on the only existing "virtual server". I don't really know anything about virtual servers.
Also: I installed with the defaults, what port should I try to access my app from?
The documentation doesn't help much - so please don't give me a URL to some docs i won't understand.
I miss the autodeploy offered by other tools. I have deployed this app before on other servers.
thanks in advanceThe URI is the "virtual path" at which the web application is accessible. For example, if you deploy a web application at the URI /foo, you would access the web application by requesting http://server.example.com:port/foo/.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you what port your Web Server instance is listening on as that's configured at install time. If you don't remember the port you selected, check the server.xml configuration file. The port is recorded in that file. -

Sun ONE Web Server & Remote User field
Hi,
I look for a tip to my Sun ONE Web Server 6.1 SP2 configuration.
I have:
- OS: Sun Solaris 8
- Apache 1.3 (listen port :80)
- Sun ONE Web Server 6.1 SP2 (listen port :81)
- Weblogic 8.1 SP4 (listen port :8001)
The 3 applications are in the same server.
My first configuration works:
- Apache works with basic authentification by password file (generate with htpasswd) and communicates with Weblogic
- Weblogic listens http requests and work with the remote user id (use method HttpServletRequest.getRemoteUser())
My second configuration doesn't work:
- Apache works with basic authentification by password file (generate with htpasswd) + reverse proxy mode (use VirtuaHost) and communicates with Sun ONE Web Server
- Sun ONE Web Server works with no authentification mode and communicates with Weblogic
- Weblogic listens http requests and works with the remote user id (use method HttpServletRequest.getRemoteUser())
The HttpServletRequest.getRemoteUser() returns null in my second configuration.
How I can configure my Sun ONE Web Server to foward the remote user id ?
Thank you.
Christophe.Can you send your obj.conf?
I do not have a 6.1 Web Server installed, by guess work try

Also remove find-index or any such SAFs if you have in your obj.conf

How do you get Sun One Web Server to read white spacing in a url
Hi guys,
I am currently using Sun One Web Server and this is the problem that i am currently facing.
The url which is i am trying to read from the Sun One Web Server is http://test:8000/test/Testing%20A%20B
The error which i am getting is java.lang.RuntimeException: java.net.URISyntaxException: Illegal character in path
The reason why this is happening is because the original url is http://test:8000/test/Testing A B It has spacing in between the url. I cannot get rid of the spacing thru the code where its bound to a Content Management System. So the only way is to get the Sun One Web Server to be able to read this kind of url. There are about 300 to 400 of this types of url as they are dynamically generated.
I was looking at the obj.conf and magnum.conf file to see whether i can manipulate this url to work for this situation. But with no luck.
Can anyone please let me know if they have came across this problem.
Thanks.Hi,

Aku_28I think that I found the Sun endorsed book locations for using LDAP accounts that don't use authentication besides "crypt". I now can use an account with a "ssha" password. It can be more than 8 characters long.
Chapter 14 System Administration Guide: Naming and Directory Services
Read page 201 which is the pam.conf file pam_ldap setups. I edited my "/etc/pam.conf" file to reflect this
Chapter 7 Directory Server 5.2 2005Q4 - Administration Guide
Read page 316-318 which has a graphical technique to specify password syntax. I set it up and then tried the password by running "su - brahms". It now requires a longer password than 8 characters and it is set up to use "ssha" for that UID entry "brahms". -
How to compile and deploy an ejb into Sun ONE app.server 7.0
I am new to Sun ONE application server. I Have .java files and deployment descriptor files with me. How should proceed. When i tried to use asant it is saying that build.xml not found. I copied build.xml from some other directory to the current directory. Then it is saying that common.xml not found. Please help.
Regards,
Nagaraju.Hi,
The build.xml file should be in a directory from where
you are running the asant command.
To resolve the common.xml file not found error,
open your build.xml and check from which location the common.xml file is incuded.
In the sample application it is four directories above
the directory where build.xml is located.
You can copy the common.xml in the current directory and then change the following in your build.xml
<!ENTITY include SYSTEM "../../../../common.xml">
to <!ENTITY include SYSTEM "common.xml">
Hope this helps.

How to migrate Sun One directory server to a new physical server install
need help
We have to move our existing installation of sun on directory server 5.2 to a new physical server.
We have a new physical server with a new host name. I am trying to find an easiest way to take a snapshot of our existing server and put it on a new installation
So will installing sun one directory server , its shows me two choices either to create a new instance or copy configuration from a existing server
What do i choose and which is the fastest route to replicate my old server
Thanks a bunch in advance
SganbHi,
I'm glad you're still using the old, glorious Sun One Directory Server 5.2, because it brings me back a lot of memories... But are you seriously talking of the 'plain' version, with no patches/hot fixes on top? If that's the case, you're using of a software that has been developed in 2004 and released in Jan 2005! Just for you to be aware, in the last *8* (eight) years a considerable number (in the magnitude of 10^3) of bugs, security problems and performance issues has been identified and fixed...
However, to provide a better answer to your question, it would be important to understand the 'big picture' in terms of scenario and requirements:
1) Is this a critical 24x7 service for which you need to perform an on-line migration or you have a 'maintenance window' during which the service may be switched off?
2) Is the old server member of replication environment? If yes, how many masters/slaves do you have already? Shall the new server be part of this topology? What role shall it have?
3) Would it be possible to make the the old server able to communicate with the new server?
4) How big is the database that you've got to migrate? Do you have any requirement in terms of caches?
5) Do you take backups on a regularly basis and have in place working (*tested*) backup/restore procedures?
6) Is the new server conserving or changing the O.S. and architecture? [SPARC->SPARC, x86->x86, SPARC->x86, Solaris -> ? , 32 .vs. 64-bit? ]
7) What are the steps you did to 'install' the software on the new server?
Thanks,
Marco
P.S.: I don't wanna sound 'scaring' with all these questions, neither this should be intended as an 'hidden advertising' for Oracle Professional/Consulting Services, but the only way to not put in jeopardy your data is being aware of the risks, having the control of what's going on and ... possibly have a 'B' plan ;-)
P.S.S.: My last suggestion is to consider a migration to a later release AS SOON AS POSSIBLE; the latest is ODSEE 11.1.1.7, which is available here:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/oid-11g-161194.html
and seems to work pretty well ;-) -
