I have just bought an ipad mini - and just went thru the start of the set up till the wi fi - it does not reconise my password!! which is correct.... i can't go any further and am very stuck.... help please

Hi again.... i did restart the router - and still didn't like my password - my brother connected to the same network last week on his ipad 2??? Its my parents wi fi??? so can't look into it now - would it be easier for me to try via my PC itunes and do it that way ?? as i do not understand how to log into the rounter - sorry not a computer geek :-(

You will not be able to see what version you are running until the iPad is activated. It will be in Settings>General>About >Version when you can get to the settings app.
The slider bar that you are describing sounds like the screen lock side switch and that has no bearing on setting up the iPad or connecting to WiFi.
Why don't you try rebooting your router? Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again and see if the iPad will recognize and join the network.

I have up graded to a 4s and can't get passed the set up when connecting to IT tunes to activate- it keeps saying this 'Apple device hasn't been started '- help please

Your phone is "activation locked". It cannot be used unless this lock is removed by the previous owner of the iPhone. If the seller can't help you then ask for a refund of your money.
Apple won't help you. Note that the iPhone you bought may well be stolen property..

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Some things to try first:

I got a new ipad mini and chose to set up as a copy of my iPad. Didn't sync the music on however as it is a smaller model, not enough room. Now trying to get some pictures and music on. Chose some pictures that were not in iPhoto, got a message that I could only sync with one library, chose cancel, and apply and it downloaded my pictures anyway. Now trying to sync some music but just get "The iPad “Linda’s iPad” is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPad and sync with this iTunes library?" So I hit cancel. Have tried several times, same thing. What can I try?

You should be able to accept this message, it will cause existing music, photos (not camera roll) and videos (also excluding those in camera roll) to be removed and replaced with those from this computer. All other user data on the iPad will be unaffected.
