Well, not exactly. I had to fill in the outgoing server settings, but used a bad password. The iPhone reported that the account might not work properly, but it did light up DONE and I was able to save the config.
So now when I'm in an app that allows email, I can scroll through the available "FROM" settings and pick the one I need.
(I just hope this is not taking advantage of a bug in the setup dialog which Apple will close in a future release.)

Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

Only Apple Account Security could help at this point. You can try calling Apple Support in Canada - you'll have to find one of the several ways, such as Skype, to call an 800 number from outside of the relevant country - and ask for Account Security and see if they can help. Or you can find a friend who speaks Chinese and ask them to help you talk to Apple Support in China. There are really no other options that I know of.
Note, by the way, that these are user-to-user support forums. You aren't speaking with Apple when you post here.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

When we set up the airport we used to be able to send emails from my macbook to my husband's macbook and vice versa but can't now. I really don't think it's the router. Most likely, it will have to do with the email client that you are using on each of your Macs. Unless you are running an eMail server on your local network, both of your eMail clients are using mail servers on the Internet.
If you are both using OS X Mail, you may want to post in that forum area as well to see if the Mail experts over there can help.

Contact your internet service provider. They can run some tests to verify the cause of the problem. This sounds very much like an ISP issue.

I cannot send email from Outlook 2011 (for Mac). But can send from other applications

I have Outlook 2011 for Mac - I have validated the settings and up until yesterday could send and receive emails using my .mac account.
I can send using icloud and mail (I use Outlook for work purposes) and can send in outlook using my work accounts.

Use SSL to connect checked.
Outgoing server - smtp.mail.me.com
override default port checked (port 587)

authentication - Username and password.
I have rebuilt the database - no effect.
I continue to get the error

The server for account "mac" returned the error. 5.7.8. Bad Username or password (Authentication failed..)" Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try rentering your password"
I have validated my username and password and rentered them both.
I have emptied the outbox and retried but nothing works.

Update - I now have it working.
am not really sure what exactly fixed it.
I changed a lot of things but my setup now has the following which I think fixed.
outgoing server - p06-smtp.mail.me.com
override default port checked - port now 587
on more options button changed it to "use incoming server info".

Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

amish has it right. there is something wrong with your outgoing mail settings. google you isp and 'e mail settings' and reenter them, real carefully. Pay particular attention to outgoing server name, and server ports. if it asks for your id and password and calls it optional, enter it anyway.
A few isps have actual apps that will configure it for you.

Cannot send email from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

Anyone can help? I've prepare MS Exchange 2013 already, for Migration MS Exchange 2007 and I got the issue.
My issue is I can't send email from Exchange 2007 to Exchagen 2013, but for Exchange 2013 can send email to Exchange 2007,
is my issue only internal email for external email both Exchange server is working fine.

I wanted to know that for sending Email from SAP System (that is via Information broadcasting feature of BW )to Email IDS of individuals do we need to make any configurations on Exchange Server as well or some RFC between Microsoft Exchange Server and BW .I have made all settings for SMTP through SCOT transaction but still not able to send mails.From our Exchange Server,the connector is removed ,do we need to reconnect it for this purpose.kindly please tell me wt all configurations do i need to make on Mail server for sending Emails as iam not able to do the same now.If somebody can send a PDF/Word document in support for the same on my email Id [email protected] ,i shall be highly obliged.Your help shall be appreciated ,kindly revert at earliest.
