Help - I can't access yahoo mail since changing password

I'm able to access my yahoo e-mail on my computer, and since changing my password I cannot access it on my iphone 5S or ipad.  I keep getting the message that the server is unavailable or that the password doesn't match (despite trying it multiple times to ensure accuracy!).  I deleted the account from my iphone, did a hard reboot, and I STILL cannot access my yahoo mail.  Once again I get the message that the server is unavailable.  I'm using a workaround right now by using the yahoo app, but that doesn't give me all the functionality I need.  I can't imagine this is an isolated problem.  I took the iphone to an apple store, and I was told i have to wait a few hours to talk wtih a tech (didn't have a few hours at the time).  So I'm trying the forum here.  Something tells me there's an easy solution.  Can somebody help me out?  Thanks!

I found the answer on yahoo.  for anybody else who has this problem:  You start from within yahoo.  Reset the password and click the button to generate app passwords.  And then you can generate a specialized password for each of your ios devices.
Here's what it says in my yahoo account:
App passwords
Certain apps don’t work with Yahoo’s second sign-in verification.
They include:
Mail apps like iOS Mail, Android Mail, and Outlook
To use these apps, you’ll need to generate an app-specific password, and then enter it in the password field of your app. You’ll only have to create and enter the password once for each app. Learn more
And here's the help page.
Generating App Passwords
To protect your account, you're required to generate a one-time password, separate from your Yahoo account password, when you use non-Yahoo apps.
Here's how:
First activate second sign-in verification on your account to use App Passwords.
From your Account Info page, click App Passwords.
Under "Generate new application password," enter the name of the app that requires a password.
Click Generate Password.
Tip: This isn't a new password for your account. It's a one-time password to validate you're authorizing access to your account from a non-Yahoo app.
Enter the code into the password field of your mobile device.
Click Done to reset the code generator.
-If you forget the code, you can always generate a new one.
You're now safely connected!
We'll save a list of apps within your "Generate app passwords" page. Also from this page, you can generate a new code or remove permissions.

After Mac OS X 10.6.3 upgrade can't access Yahoo mail and repeatedly get message ""Sorry, we are over capacity. Please wait a moment and try again." Help, please.

Did you run all the software updates after the 10.6.3 update, especially this one which will bring you up to 10.6.8.
Mac OSX 10.6.8 V1.1 Combo update
Run software update, starting with the one above.
Then call your provider and ask them what is going on. They have probably changed POP to IMAP, 10.6.8 supports IMAP

No resolution to the access problem today 4/21/11. Do I reinstall 3.6 & delete 4.0? I understand this access problem is common to 4.0 users.

I did some additional testing through Proxy 4. All web sites and web pages including secure sites that I tried accessing over the past couple of days all appear to work fine with the exception of the forementioned sites. Access to these specific web pages (which I cannot currently access) are part of our day-to-day business requirements, and therefore will prevent me from using Proxy version 4.0 as our production proxy unless I can figure out why these web pages won't load, and how to fix the problem.
As an experiment, I tried to access these web pages through Proxy 4 with Mozilla FireFox and Netscape 7. None of these web browsers (including Internet Explorer) will bring up these web pages when going through Proxy 4. But bypassing the proxy or going through our v3.6 proxy works fine for these web pages everytime, and with all browsers. This leads me to believe that this web page access problem is not a browser specific problem, but something in Proxy 4 isn't processing the request to display the page properly.
As a reference, the web site in question is http://www.sunlife.ca. On the left hand side of the page go to "Sign In" then "Plan Members". Thats where the request hangs through Proxy 4 no matter which browser I use, including Netscape... but works perfectly fine with Proxy v3.6.
Can someone who is running a version 4 Proxy also please try to access the SunLife Members login page and see if it works or fails for you?
    Thanks

  • I can't access Yahoo mail on my iphone 6

I can't access my yahoo email account on my iphone 6. I think it happened since I updated to IOS 8.2. I have the account loaded and it looks fine, but it doesn't download anything to my phone. Along the way I've lost calendar info, my notes, and other things I need!
    Help!
    Thanks in advance!

A lot of people have been unable to access Yahoo e-mail on their iPhones or iPads. My wife’s iPad was not downloading Yahoo mail, although her iPhone was. Both used IOS 8.2. We tried deleting the account several times and troubleshooting all of the other settings. The problem appears to have been that allowing the IOS to automatically create the account on the iPad resulted in the wrong settings for the incoming server. The following procedure, pieced together from two websites, fixed the problem for us. So far, so good.
    https://portal.smartertools.com/kb/a2659/configure-imap-for-iphone-or-ipad.aspx
    https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mobile-mail/imap-server-settings-sln4075.html
    On the iPhone, tap Settings.
    Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap your Yahoo account, then delete it.
    Tap Add Account.
    Tap Other.
    Tap Add Mail Account.
Complete the Name, Address (email address), Password and Description fields.
    Click Next.
    Ensure IMAP is selected.
Enter the following incoming mail server information:
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 993
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Hostname is mail.yahoo.com.
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail.
Enter the following outgoing mail server information:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires SSL
    Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    Port: 465 or 587
    Requires SSL: Yes
    Requires authentication: Yes
Username is your full email address
Password is the same password used to access webmail. It may have been entered for you.
    Tap Next.
The iPhone will establish an SSL connection to your IMAP and SMTP servers.
    That’s all!

Could you try "the usual" first:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Command+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on www.yahoo.com, try either:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

  • New 5K iMac, Can't access Yahoo Mail!

I just got my 5K Retina iMac today (beautiful by the way), but I am unable to access my email accounts. I have 2 already established email accounts on Yahoo mail, but I can not get the iMac to connect to them. I have tried to connect via System Preferences>Internet Accounts, Via Mail>Add New Account and from the Yahoo website, and none of these would allow me to connect to me email accounts.
    Anyone got any suggestions?

  • HELP!  Can't Access E-mail

For the last 24 hours I have been trying to access my e-mail in Mail and directly through the .mac web site - in Mail I am told that the server rejected my password. When I go through .Mac web page I receive the We're Sorry .Mac mail on the web is temporarily unavailable. My Palm Treo phone cannot access it either - it tells me to check my password.

If .Mac is temporarily unavailable, then it's
temporary unavailable, and there is nothing either
you or we can do about it...
The problem is that my mail has now been temporarily unavailable for three days - both through Mail and directly through the web page at .mac. The Mail system and server at .mac is fine and running. I believe the account has locked me out and must be reset by .mac. When I try to log in through mail it tells me my password was not accepted. I have reset the password several times and even changed it, but none of this helps.

  • Can't access e-mail since your "improvement"

I am out of the country (may or may not be relevant) and Verizon refuses to acknowledge my sign-in (I am positive I am using the correct name and password).  The message is "not supported."  What happened?  I am sporadically able to get to my e-mail, but not often.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.
