Help! I can't change my background or click on desktop icons!

I have a MacBook I just got a few weeks ago. It's been fine until now. I just closed it twenty minutes ago after I left my dad's house and it was fine. I opened it up when I got back home and my desktop background was plain blue.
I tried to change it through system preferences but, even though I can click on the pictures the background doesn't change.
I then tried to get to disk utility but when I clicked on the Mac HD icon on my desktop, it wouldn't open. My clicking didn't even highlight it.
I can still get to my files using the Finder. However, I can only access the finder by clicking on the dock. Clicking on the background does nothing. I can still move my mouse.
But that's it. It's as if the MacBook doesn't even register my mouse clicks at all.

It had very little battery life left when it changed,
although it was plugged in. Could that have had
something to do with it?
Probably not..although I guess anything is possible...

  • How can I change the background color of my podcast's iTunes page?

My RSS feed just got accepted but now I need to customize the title, author, background color, and logo of my site. Does anyone know how to do this? Thank you!

You can't change the background colour - it's white for audio and black for video. The other data can be changed by changing the appropriate tag in the feed, or if you're using a program or online service to make your podcast,. wherever they provide for entering this information.
The title is carried in the 'title' tag; the author in the 'itunes:author' tag, and the 'podcast image' which appears on the Store page in the 'itunes: image' tag. Republish the feed after making the amendments: it will take a couple of days for the new data to appear, though the image may take several days.
The image which appears in some podcasts in the bottom left-hand corner of iTunes when subscribing is not referenced in the feed but has to be actually embedded into the media file: please see this page:

  • How can I change fullscreen background color, so that it is the same when viewing on mac and iPad? I want this to be able to use MathType in widget text.

How can I change fullscreen background color, so that it is the same when viewing on mac and iPad? I want this to be able to use MathType in widget text.
As an example, html widget has white background on iPad, and black on mac. The same goes for interactive widget.
The MathType text inserted is inserted as a image, and will have the same color when in fullscreen as when not. So I need the textcolor to be the same in both views. Anyone know how to fix this?

We're still not communicating. This is why I wanted an example .iba.
Here's a re-creation of my own, going off what you described. You said "all html widgets and all gallery widgets" have this problem. So I inserted a blank HTML widget and a blank Gallery widget, and typed into both. Inserted a MathType equation into both. I don't see any difference when I preview it on my Mac compared to the preview on the iPad. I want to help, but I can't help if I can't duplicate the issue.
I've attached the screen shots and the .iba file [link to .iba file].
Feel free to email me directly at bobm at dessci dot com. If you're uncomfortable giving some information here, tell me anything you want in email. I work for the "MathType company", Design Science.

The background color in my inbox (well, all mailboxes) is white. A yellow background would make the existing black text a lot easier to read. How can I change the background color in the inbox?

  • Can't change my background picture

I'd just like to say thank you for your help if you ever do check this out.
My friends, as a prank, changed my background picture to some random photos I had on my Macbook. However, I've been unable as of yet to actually revert it back. Though they only changed one background, none of my desktops can have their background changed. Also, none of the methods I know actually work - going to System Preferences and manually changing it from there doesn't work, nor does simply clicking a photo and choosing the option to 'set as background picture'.
    Many thanks.

You can't go to System Preferences>Desktop&Screen Savers and change the display? Try it and see. I've never seen that problem.

How can I change the background of a running webpage on my own. Example Facebook I want to change its background color from white to black just in my view, not for all. Cause I really hate some site with white background because as I read for an hour it aches my eyes but not on those with darker background color.

You can use the NoSquint extension to set font sizes (text/page zoom) and text colors on web pages.

    subMenu.setOpaque(true);

you can change iweb navbar any which way you want, as long as you know iweb widgets:
    http://iwebwidgets.cyclosaurus.com/iWebNavBar/BkgndColor.html
you won't see the change in iweb, you only see it in published site.

how can i change the background colour of all old folder windows at once?

There are, however, thousands of calendar apps available in the App Store. They use the same data that the built in app does. Perhaps one would better meet your needs.

  • I filmed on a white background, can I change the background

    Hi
I have filmed a short video in iMovie, with a white plain background behind me.
How can I change this background in iMovie?
    Thanks.

You will need a 3rd party image editor that can seletively remove the background and let you create a transparent background png file. Maybe with a drop shadow (or not) something like this:
A photo of me during one of my therapy sessions.   If you have Pages (part of iWork) you can also make transparent background images with the Alpha tool..
