Help! I can't import Ben Harper to itunes

I recently purchased Ben Harper's "Both Sides of the Gun" CD, and am unable to import it, due to the copyright protection. I have been able to import other copyright protected cds in the past just fine, but this one just won't play nice. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jerry

I have a pc with windows xp

hi,
....... I guess I can't import it straight to iTunes Match ........
well that is exactly the contrary of what the late Steve Jobs promised in the keynote about iTunes match.
" ...... adding ones own CDs would then take a few seconds than rather 2-4 minutes ....... "
as I own some 1400+ CDs I thought match would be the solution.
and I hoped that there would be different match fees - like it is in the cloud.
I don't want to runt about a deceased persons promises but Apple Inc. should at least try to honor its founders words ....
if that feature will not be implemented rather sooner than later I will cancel match - it was the only reason why I was waiting for it since the very day of its announcement .

  • Help, I can't import my CD songs to itunes for Windows

Help, I can't import my CD songs to itunes for Windows.
My computer crashed. All my songs on CDs were titled by numbers "01", "02" etc. So I have many songs on various CDs titled "01" for example.
When I've tried to import various CDs, it seems like the different songs having the same names are confusing itunes, and my song tracks are getting mixed and muddled.
What can I do? Thanks for any help.

  • TA47831 How can I import a playlist to iTunes?

An old article (http://support.apple.com/kb/TA47831) explained how to export an iTunes playlist to an .m3u file and reimport it.  This functionality no longer works with the newer version of iTunes (I'm running iTunes 10.6 on Windows 7).  This is presumably why the article has been retired and is no longer supported by Apple.
If I export a playlist, change its name, then reimport the result is an empty playlist.  Here is an example of one of the lines from the .m3u file:
    #EXTINF:196,My Happiness - Ella Fitzgerald
    \\NEF\music\Ella Fitzgerald - 50 Classic Hits (disc 2)\Ella Fitzgerald - My Happiness.mp3
As you can see my file is an mp3 on a remote server ("nef") and works perfectly well in the "Music" section of iTunes.
What I really want to do is to import some playlists that have been generated elsewhere (for example using a script to identify all the US hits of the 1980s with the word "power" somewhere in the lyrics).  I figured the easiest way to do that would be to work out what format of playlist iTunes would be able to import and generate one of those, I was somewhat surprised to discover that iTunes can't even import a playlist it has just exported.
How can I import a playlist to iTunes?

    Hi Steve,
I was wondering this myself and a quick Google found your post here along with an Apple support article published three weeks ago. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH1744?viewlocale=en_US
    Hope this helps.

  • I can't import any songs into iTunes.

I can't import any songs into iTunes. I can drag and drop but nothing will happen. Songs show up when a search is done but songs cannot be played or located in iTunes. I think this has something to do with the recent update because I have songs imported into iTunes from December.

I found the problem. I have VMware fusion that is hosting Window XP on the iMac. When the fusion is running the CD player is not seen in OS. By quitting Fusion I can now insert a CD and the disk icon appears on the OS screen. Now I can bring up iTunes and import the audio and continue as before. The one exception is I cannot bring in a photo of the album cover as before I have to drag the photo out of iPhoto and onto the desk top. Then I can drag it into the artwork patch in the iTunes/ info window.

  • Can't import audio CD into iTunes with Vista

I can't import audio CDs into iTunes with my new Dell 531 Vista computer. The songs seem to import, but only small (~50K) files are created, which don't play. Also, I cant play audio CDs using iTunes. CDs do play using Windows Media Player. The DVD/CD drive seems to work fine in all other applications.
I have tried the "device filter" regedit fix, but no luck. Anyone else have this problem?

    JohnAndKel,
That's odd because the CD reading test that the diagnostics runs didn't report an error. What happens if you select a song from the CD in iTunes and play directly from CD?
(Just a note, the filter trick doesn't do anything for CD import, just CD burn. iTunes doesn't use the Gear drivers for reading the CD.)

  • TS1721 can i import movies to my Itunes library

can I import movies to my Itunes library

Hi, by default you can only add M4V, MP4 and MOV files. Simply drag and drop them into your library. If you have videos in other file formats (like AVI or MKV) you have two solutions: convert them with a tool like HandBrake. That takes a lot of work and time. Or you use a dedicated tool to import movies in iTunes. I use VideoDrive (www.aroona.net) for this. It will create small references to your videos in iTunes. And it will also add descriptions and covers so they look as nice as officially purchased movies. Keep in mind that if you do not convert the videos, they will not play on iOS devices. VideoDrive (and some others) to support conversions as well. So you always have the choice.
In my case, I add the videos without conversions so they are nicely categorized in iTunes. And the videos I do want to watch on my iPad, I convert later on. You can do this by selecting a video in iTunes and clicking File -> Create new version. Or use the 'Duplicate Video' feature of VideoDrive. I can imagine that this is overkill if you only have a couple of videos, but if you have a lot, it's great to have them all showing up with artwork in iTunes.

I can't import video (.mp4 & .mov) to itunes 10.5.2.11 (can't both drag & down and add file to library).
I searched many ways to solve in google with myself , but still not work
    Pls help -.-"

MOV is a container format which may contain all kinds of codec, while iTunes only import MOV whose video codec is DV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, or AIC.
Even if the MOV meet the above requirement and supported and playable in iTunes, it will still fail to sync to iPod/iPad/iPhone/Apple TV if the MOV video does not fit the specification like resolution, bit rate, aspect ratio, size, and audio codec of the iPod/iPad/iPhone/Apple TV.
In order to successfully import MOV to iTunes as well as sync MOV to Apple TV, iPod, iPhone, iPad, we have better convert the MOV video to a more compatible video format.

  • HELP I can't import my photos from my Cannon to the Cannon app on my imac on Snow Leopard!

HELP - I just installed Snow Leopard & though I've uploaded photos from my Cannon Power Shot A590, since then ... But today while it opened the Cannon "Camera WIndow" & looks like the photos are being uploaded, an iMac box appears showing a: "failed to initialize program" message!!! Why
I've tried several times & can't import my latest photos from my Cannon to the Cannon app on my iMac, it doesn't recognize it? (I look at them there & often delete photos from the camera, then I import them to iPhoto.)
I've had a number of problems with Snow Leopard - in iPhoto, iWork, etc, since installing it. What gives?

I would also suggest that you check out iPhoto or Image Capture - both already in the Applications folder on your Mac - which should be heaps better than the Canon software. And, for what it's worth, you actually do not need any software to get pics onto your Mac - if you have your preferences set to display external drives on your desktop, the Canon icon should show up as soon as you plug it in. You can simply double click the icon and then look at the pics with Preview to decide if you want to keep or ditch it.
And the problems with your SL install most likely are the result of other apps not being up to date or compatible with SL - that happens every time. You need to check on compatibility of all the apps you have to you'll know what needs to be updated.

can you import music from itunes on one computer to another?

There are a number of things you could do. One would be to network the to computers and transfer your iTunes folder from one to another. You can also use your iPod as a hard drive and move the folder with it though that would be considerably slower than computer to computer. Here are a few links that may help you out:

  • I can not import to iPad from iTunes some of my presentations.

I cannot import to iPad from iTunes some of my presentations. I get this message:"Presentation couldn’t be imported. An error occurred." That's it? I am blank off at Steve. Why cannot I simply drag and drop like any other decent software can from my saved presentations on my HD to appropriate directory in iPad? I have spent countless hours preparing those presentations. OK, let me think. I am going to do them over, spent so more countless hours just to find out that I cannot import them. Funny thing is that I never seen error doing something useless like playing game. Iam steaming.
I am looking in to Samsung products; maybe this error will help me to make the right decision. They are using open source Android, nothing like this secretive bull, oh my Got someone will try to steal my billions.

Wow, because you have created presentations that obviously have an error in them and so they cannot be used by the iPad, it is Steve's fault.
Sell your iPad to someone more deserving of its magic and get a Samsung imitation. That is if you can still find one to buy. If you had jumped the HP tablets were marked down just before HP threw in the towel on them.

  • Can't import MP3 Files into iTunes 10.6.1

I'm a long time user of iTunes and haven't had any problems until the last couple of days.  I use a Macbook Pro with my iTunes Library on an external drive - I was trying to demonstrate using the iTunes store to a friend and created a temporary iTunes libary on my local disk (away from my office).  I then switched back to my iTunes library on the external drive but some music had disappeared.  It is in the correct folder in the library.  So as a lst ditch effort I created a new library on another disk (I was running out of space anyway).  Now I can't import anything with an extension of mp3.
    Any help would be appreciated

  • I Can't import MP3 files in iTunes?

When I try to import mp3 files into iTunes (version 6), I get an error message of:
The file "song file name" can not be imported An unknown error has occurred (-50).
I have already imported these files into iTnes on my old computer, but run into this problem with my new laptop. I downloaded a new version of iTunes just like I installed all my new programs on this new laptop.
For some reason, I run into this problem when trying to import any mp3 files (as mentioned, even mp3 files that I successfully imported into iTunes previously).
(I've tried a complete removal and re-install, but that didn't help)
Anyone know why I'm getting this error message and how to correct things?
Thanks in advance for any help !!!

    1) find an MP3 file on your file system (in Windows Explorer)
    2) Right click on it to get contextual menu
    3) Select Properties
    4) on the General Tab the text "opens with" appears - in your case it'll be windows Media Player
    5) Click Change
    6) Select ITunes
    7) Select Always for this type checkbox
    8) Now try double clicking on an MP3 file
    9) Does it start playing in ITunes?
    10) Check Itunes settings: Edit>Preferences>Advanced
    11) Are the checkboxes Keep Itunes folder organized and Copy to Itunes foler when adding selected? If not - read the manual to understand what those two settings do

  • Can't import some cds to itunes

    Hi
I am unable to import at least 10% of my cds into iTunes. Get the error message: "The file [track/cd name] could not be converted. You don't have write access for your iTunes media folder or a folder within it. To change permissions select your iTunes Media folder in the Finder, and choose File>GetInfo".
I did this several times and made sure I had permissions to read/write, but still can't import many cds.

is this simply because the files are m4v?
