Help! I can't install OS on new HD

Help!!!
About 3 weeks ago my iBook G4 1.2 GHz fell off of a desk about 2.5 feet off the ground and landed on it's front edge. Right after then, I picked it up, and it seemed fine, just that it was frozen, so I restarted it expecting it to come right back up... it did load right back up, but would freeze after a few moments of use. After restarting, it would do the same. I checked on a few other related posts and found that it could be the hard drive or the ATA controller, so I made a gamble and bought a new HD (not a bad price and I got an extra 70 gigs of space) and tonight I just installed it, so I put in the OS installation DVD and tried running it, but after it got past the DVD verification process, it froze.
I've tried running the Disk Utility quite a few times to fix the HD (I was able to format the HD on one occasion) but each time I try to verify and fix the HD it just comes up with an error saying that the disk can't be unmounted, so therefore can't be fixed.
This was about the same thing that was happening on my original hard drive, so I'm coming to the conclusion that there's something else wrong (I'm a smart one, aren't I?)
If anyone knows of any other possible solutions to this problem, I'd love the help!
Thanks!

Only additional troubleshooting ideas come to mind; not repairing the real
problem, in that may involve a logicboard [or controller not sold separately?]
There was a powerbook fixit site that offers parts, repairs and some tech
pages of helpful to out-of-warranty Apple portable users; it may have a
few hints and tips, and take-apart details to allow further exploration inside.
Some have a good view of all the parts; and maybe a sub-assembly
could be acquired from a parts supplier, if you narrow down the field.
If you had an external Firewire enclosed drive, you could try booting that
defective computer from there; an installation on a good, properly formatted
hard drive inside such a case may give you further ideas on how damaged
the computer is. And you try running the different tests from the booted
OSX computer install/restore/hardware test disc included with the Mac.
Assuming the optical drive still works, you could maybe install a test OS
on to an external to further play around, too. (Could any cables be bad?)
If the logic board does not need replacing, that would be very good; at
some point, it may be worth sending the 'Book away to some qualified
service repair facility and see what they have to say about it. Some
charge about $50. to get into the non-display part of an iBook; total
cost would be that labor plus parts, at places like wegenermedia.com.
Some companies may take a broken one in as a core toward
the purchase of a repaired computer in their stock; ask around.
Hopeful it'd only be a data cable, etc you can replace; over-optimistic?
Best wishes, nonetheless!

On which operating system are you trying to install these Adobe apps?
Please specify the operating system name and version.
If you have purchased new Macbook Pro, then you should have atleast Mac OSX 10.9 or later. However, i doubt you will be able to install most of these apps on it as they are pretty old apps except CS5 & Lr4.
Still you can give it a shot and check.
What happens when you try to install them?
Do you get any error message? An error screenshot or full text of the error, should be helpful.

Via Javascripting. Look for Flash detection kits at the
    Adobe/Maromedia web
site and also at Internet search engines.
As well this forum focuses on database access issues and you
    might find more

I threw up the box before installing photoshop elements 13 and now i can not installed my brand new photoshop because i do not have a serial number

When you buy software, the serial number is really what you're buying, since the software is typically downloadable. So don't throw it away in the future.
If you registered the software before you threw away your serial number, then Adobe may have a record of your purchase.

Can I install again my new software after 2-3 months when I buy a new Computer?Thank you

Yes.  Also, you are allowed to have the software installed and active on two machines, so if you like you can continue to have it on the original machine.  If you want to remove it from the original machine be sure to deactivate it first.

  • Can't install(format?) new hard drive

I recently purchased a Wetern Digital Scorpio 250GB PATA HD for my Toshiba M35X-S114.  This was the drive recommened on the Toshiba Laptop Accessories page.  I physically instaled the new drive but can't figure out how to get it started.  I used the System Recovery DVD for my computer thinking I could install the original software on the new hard drive. The guy on the tech support phoneline said I could.  When I tried to use the recovery disc I got all the wall to the message where it prompts me to "press C for continue or A to abort".  When I press C, the cursor moves right below the prompt and just blinks.  The tech support line said the process may take several hours but I let it do this for for 3.5 hours and the cursor was still just blinking below the continue/abort message.  Is this normal?  Do I just need to be patient?  When I used the recovery disk on the old, original hard drive my computer was completely recovered in 45 minutes.  Oh, BIOS reads "none" next to hard disk.  I hope this helps.

I emailed Hitachi support and got this response.
    It works. Just a pain!!
Hard drives of SATA type interface does not have jumpers to configure. You
can still use a SATA 3.0Gb/s drive (set to 3.0Gb/s) in your system, but it
    will only work at 1.5Gb/s.
If your have a PC system, you can temporarily install the drive internally
and use our utility called Feature Tool that'll allow you to change various
ATA settings. This utility has the diskette and CD version. If you do not
have a floppy drive and are unable to create a Feature Tool diskette, you
can select the Feature Tool CD image. The fourth download link is for the
image file. This file will allow you to create a bootable CD version of
Feature Tool when a floppy diskette drive is unavailable. For instructions
on how to properly use this file, please refer to the documentation
included with your CD burning software.
If you have any questions regarding the usage of Feature Tool, please refer
to the User's Guide (see page 17 on how to change the drive capacity). The
Feature Tool and User's Guide can be downloaded from the following URL:
    http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#FeatureTool
Before running Feature Tool, ensure that your system boot sequence (in your
system BIOS) is set to boot to your CD ROM drive as the first device.
Insert the bootable Feature Tool diskette or CD that you created and let
the system boot to this CD.

  • Help! Can't install CC PS after removing the tryout.

    Help!
    - Downloaded and installed CC PS tryout a week ago.
    - Then joided CC.
    - Then removed CC PS tryout.
-Then accidentally downloaded the update for tryout CC PS (which I didn't do while the tryout was on my Mac).
-Now I can't download PS. Can't see it in the CC console.
    What to do?

I was too optimistic. Now I was able to install PS again from the Download link in the CC website.
I followed as PS was installed in CC console's "Find new apps" section. Everything OK here.
I can see "You installed Photoshop CC" in CC console/home. Everything OK here.
I can't fint the actual program anywhere. Nothing on Launchpad. Theres a folder "Adobe photoshop CC" in Finder/Applications. But it's relatively empty. Nothing to start the actual program with.
    I restarted already. Problem remains.

    Mike:
I believe you are thinking that you are writing to Apple. Actually this is an Apple Forum but only a user to user forum. Apple Computers do not monitor these forums. Its only users like you and I that keep this forum going.
You are right, Boot Camp Beta, which you have installed on your computer, has been expired. To remove the boot camp partition that you currently have (Beta Version 1.1)you will need to click [HERE|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306805] and follow the instructions.
If you want to install boot camp again then you will need a Released Version 2.0 of boot camp which is ONLY available on the LEOPARD INSTALLATION DISK.
If you have OSx 10.5 (Leopard) Installed then please click [HERE|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/11889.html] to get the instructions on how to install Boot Camp Version 2.0.
If you still have OSx 10.4 (Tiger) installed then you will need to buy Leopard.

  • [HELP] I can't install the bootcamp drivers on my mac.

    Hello people.
I have a problem and i wish if you could help me with.
    I have an iMac Early-2009 ( 2.66ghz C2D / 4GB 1333mhz RAM / GeForce 9400 256mb ) with Mountain Lion 10.8.4
The problem is that, i can't install the drivers from the bootcamp app ( the one from the bootcamp itself app, where you need a USB to download it)
i've already partitioned the HDD, and installed succesfully a Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
But there's one little issue, when i try install the drivers i downloaded before on my USB, it says that "Bootcamp x64 is unsupported on this computer model".
BUT, what? i've installed correctly the Windows 7 64bit on the iMac.
I can't install anything, but only graphics driver. ( manually)
I searched in every forum trying to resolve my problem, i've read that you can install it from de DVD with Snow Leopard that came with the computer
but that disk is broken; it's annoying because it seems that is the only solution , with that resulting on a dead end.
I could install my NVIDIA drivers, using the ones from bootcamp drivers, BUT USING THE WIN_32 version because the WIN_64 was unsupported by my machine. ok, i could install the drivers and was the 263.03 i think.
Now i want to upgrade to my lastest drivers ( 320.14 WQHL ) and says that can't detect my gpu. but the old driver that came with recognized it with no problems. I tried also auto detect GPU, and the same drivers but no result.
Anyway, the main problem is that is "Bootcamp x64 is unsupported on this computer model". with a Windows 7 64bit copy installed on the bootcamp partition. this is ******* me off
I sucessfully installed on my Macbook Pro Late 2008 ( C2D 2.06ghz / 8 GB RAM / 9600m GT ) and everything fine, a Windows 7 64bit. installed the drivers and everything fine, even accepted the lastest drivers (320.14 WQHL) from nvidia. but that was on Mountain Lion 10.8
but since 10.8.3 only lets you install only 64bit, i can't search for a copy of win32bit and install it because, it's going to be the same problem anyways.
So if you could help me out with this *** problem.

I have an iMac (24-inch, Early 2008) — iMac8,1 and I have exactly the same issue.  Now, I'm running Mavericks, unfortunately.
On the one hand, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3986, I see:
"Do all Intel-based Macs support Windows 7?
All Intel-based Macs support Windows 7 using Boot Camp 3.1 or later except these:
    iMac (17-inch, Early 2006)
    iMac (17-inch, Late 2006)
    iMac (20-inch, Early 2006)
    iMac (20-inch, Late 2006)
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2006)
    MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2006)
    MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2006)
    MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2006)
Mac Pro (Mid 2006, Intel Xeon Dual-core 2.66GHz or 3GHz)"
    So, I should be good.
However, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634, my iMac is not supported in Boot Camp requirements, which would have been nice to know before I purchased a copy of Windows 7.  I cannot get the Windows drivers to download from Boot Camp, and when I download them manually, whether version 4 or 5, I get the "Bootcamp x64 is unsupported on this computer model" message, which makes the HT3986 information unhelpful.  I even tried a Snow Leopard CD while in Windows, and it gave me the same message.  I tried one of the 3.x Bootcamp files, and still no good.
The funny thing is, I ran Bootcamp to create the partition for Windows 7, and it even popped up a message stating that Windows 7 was the latest Windows I could install on that machine, and the installation went fine.  However, I am missing who knows what drivers, etc, because Apple won't provide the Windows support software for a machine that evidently can run the software.  The graphics drivers appear to be fine, as the aspect ratio corrected itself, something that didn't happen on my MBP without having the Windows Bootcamp software.  I also have wi-fi, which is better than some experience.
I even cannot get the little Boot Camp Windows icon/software that should be accessible in the system tray, so I can set preferred system to boot in, tell it to boot into OS X, etc.  So, for that, I would have to rely on rebooting while holding down the ALT key, and my non-Apple keyboard for some reason won't do that (but that's another subject).
I guess there is nothing to do other than just do everything manually, piece by piece, unless someone has a solution that is eluding me.

  • Can't Install OS on new Hard Drive

I just got a brand new iMac G5 with a bad Hard Drive. Apple sent a new hard drive but after I installed it I can't install the OS 10.4. I ran Disk First Aid and it says “Invalid extent entry, Volume check failed, ERROR: The underlying task reported failure on exit, 1 HFS volume checked, 1 volume could not be repaired because of an error.” I also can not run the Apple Care disc because I have a wireless mouse. I have installed no hardware upgrades.

Like Mike said, erase fixes that type of error a lot of times. I have also had a lot of success using a program called DiskWarrior. It rebuilds the directory files and usually fixes errors like that without data loss.

  • Can't install PSE in new OS

I had PSE 6 on both my laptop and my desktop.  I upgraded my desktop from Vista to Win 7 prox64 and have the original install DVD.  When I try to install in my new OS it installs properly but on first use it asks for serial number.  I type the correct number and it says "The number that you entered is not valid...." I suspect that it may not allow because of the registration of my old installation.
How many computers are allowed?  Do I need to deactivate the software on my laptop (the only other computer with the same PSE serial number)?  If so, can I reactivate on my laptop when I need the software in the field??

Most versions of photoshop elements 6 don't have activation and if yours did, you'd probaly get a different message like that you have pse 6
    activated on two other computers.
There are 24 numbers in the serial plus the dashes between each set of four numbers, so you would type
    (the X's below represent numbers)
    1057-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
