Help! I can't open my files in ImageReady from Adobe Bridge

I have Photoshop CS2. I recently wiped my hard drive and reinstalled the original factory software, and then reinstalled Photoshop CS2, and it has been a little glitchy ever since then. For example, I arrange my files in Adobe Bridge, and then when I go back to them later they are not in the order I put them in. The program is putting the .BridgeSort file in the folder, so that is not the problem. When I restart the computer, if the last folder I had open in Bridge was sorted, it will still be sorted when I reopen Bridge, but if I open another folder that I already sorted it reverts back to the way it was before I sorted it.
Also, I can't open any files in Adobe ImageReady from Adobe Bridge. Before I wiped my computer, when I wanted to create a slideshow in ImageReady, I just selcted the files I wanted to open and then right-clicked and chose "open in / Image Ready", but now that doesn't even come up as an option. I have already tried uninstalling photoshop and reinstalling it but that didn't fix the problem.

Try something like this:
1. Use window explorer to find a jpeg on your computer
2  Right click on that jpeg file and go to Open With>Choose Program
3. If the box that says:Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
is checked, uncheck it and then press the Browse button.
4. Navigate to the location of the cs2 ImageReady program and double click on it, then
press ok in the dialog and the jpeg should open in ImageReady.
5. Close ImageReady and right click on the jpeg and hopefully ImageReady will be
    listed as a choice.
Hopefully cs2 bridge will also show ImageReady as a choice for jpegs.

When I open a photo in CS6 from Adobe Bridge, a large white box appears. How do I fix this?

    Good day!
Could you please post a screenshot to illustrate the issue?
Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

  • Help! Can't open .dmg files suddenly, and can't find stuffit expander application!

My iMac is currently running on Mac os x 10.5.8, **out of nowhere my computer can't open dmg files. I can't seem to find the stuffit expander application anywhere in my hard drive either, which usually opens these files. Is there another application that can open dmg files? Help Please! I need to open multiple dmg files tonight and can't figure out a way around this. Downloading/running a new stuffit expander application also happens to be a .dmg file. If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it so much!

Do you mean DiskImageMounter was chosen or not?
No change on that .dmg or on on others?
If you want to apply DiskImageMounter to all you have to choose "Change All".
EDIT: Also, Repair Permissions from /Applications/Utilities/ Disk Utility.
Also, George Orville has some interesting advice in this thread
Note this advice is for 10.3 but much of it will apply here.

  • Can't open RAW file when moved from Lightroom to Photoshop CS4

I have a Canon 6D and recently purchased Lightroom 4.4 so that I could open my Canon RAW files. They do open in Lightroom, but when I move them to PHotoshop CS4 I can't open the files. I get a message telling me I can't open them. Any suggestions?

I don't know Macs so can't give you advice if CS6 will run on your Mac.
But since you have Lr5 you won't need to open Raw images in Photoshop. Lr5 gives you all the Raw editing capabilities that you need. I don't think CS6 will add anything to Raw editing capabilities that Lr5 doesn't have - although I don't know CS6 since I am still working with CS5.
You still can send images from Lr5 to CS4 for editing but you have to select <Render using Lightroom> in the dialog that says that the "Camera raw plug-in 8.1 may be required   ...". BTW: what this means is that the Camera raw plug-in 8.1 is required for Photoshop, not for Lr.
When you select <Render using Lightroom> Lr will create a TIFF / PSD from the Raw image and send it to CS4 for editing.
If you had CS6 Lr would send the Raw image to CS6 but on saving the edits in CS6 a TIFF / PSD would be created.
The only drawback with using CS4 is that the options <Merge to Panorama ...>, <Merge to HDR ...>, and <Open as layers> will be greyed-out and are not available.
If instead of selecting  <Render using Lightroom> in the dialog box you would select <Open anyway>, nothing would happen. CS4 would open but the image would not be displayed in CS4.

  • Please Help!  Can't open pdf files online.

Several days ago I attempted to update my Adobe Reader.  I'm using a MacBook with OS 10.9.3.  I have a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.  After installing I received an error which says "internal error occurred"  After reading LOTS of websites, I finally used my Time Machine and reloaded the old adobe version.  It works to open pdf files on my computer, however, when I go to websites, it says that I have to accept the adobe legal agreement before the pdf is opened.  So many webpages are locked because I can't figure out where to accept these permissions.  Firefox will open these same web pages, but the screen is filled with distorted writing, all which basically curses adobe.  I believe your software has a virus and I wonder if you've found a fix.  Please help!

    Hello Pat,
Thank you for your reply, however, when I launch the older Adobe Reader application, it simply opens and does not ask for me to accept the agreement.  When I launch the newer Adobe Reader, I receive an internal error message and then the reader crashes.  I have attempted to re-load the new reader many times, I've deleted all of my old Adobe files including the files located under LIbrary/....  For many days I wasn't even able to open PDF files which are saved on my hard drive.  Using Apple's Time Machine, I was able to restore an older version of Adobe Reader which I can use to open files on my hard drive.  However, with the old reader and with the new reader, I still cannot open files on the internet - many web pages have items that I wish to open (spec sheets for example).  I have to send the links via email to myself and open them on another computer (extremely inefficient and time consuming).
I decided to try using Firefox and what I noticed is that when I try to weblinks that are PDF files, they open with distorted lines of text.  When you read the lines of text, there are broken sentences that say odd things (some profanity) that are directed at Adobe.  I won't repeat the lines here.  If someone from Adobe would please contact me directly (you should have my email information), I would greatly appreciate it.  It's obvious that there is a virus in your software.
I need help ASAP because my computer is my business computer and I'm really at a halt.  I need to have access to spec sheets which I can no longer open - or even download.  Buying a new computer to fix my Adobe Reader is not an option.
    Please help.

  • Help! Can't open pdf files!

I get a message saying the "file name" is not supported or has been damaged. Everything worked yesterday!
I have Adobe reader XI and my OS is Windows 7. This is also happening on my boss's computer. She also has Adobe Reader XI. Her OS is Windows Vista.
Many of our files are stored on Google Drive. When we go online to our documents, we can open them, but can't download them. It is our already downloaded files that we can't open.
We both recently ran Malware Bytes on our computers to get rid of any potential security threats..could that have caused the problem?
We need our files!! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can you open one of these problem files with Notepad, then copy & paste the 1st 20 characters or so back here in the forum?

  • Help!  Can't open downloaded files.

I recently purchased and downloaded a program for creating genograms. During downloading, I selected "Open with Stuffit Extender" as default, but when it was downloaded onto my desktop, the icon attached to the program was a "Word" icon. Thus, Word is the Default application that is opening the program. SO, I CAN'T open a program I just paid $50 for. I don't know how to select the right application to open this program file. Some downloads are opened with Word, sometimes with Exel. Please help!! --Thank you!

Select the file in the Finder, choose Get Info from the File menu, and change the default application for that file to StuffIt Expander. Alternatively, you may be able to open it by dragging it into the open StuffIt Expander window or the StuffIt Expander icon in the Dock.

I also placed the file but if I try to edit the link it gives me the same error and when I embedded the link it was a little bit better but similar mess like the eps saved from Acrobat
    I'm using Illustrator CS5 on Windows 7.

I will greatly appriciate any help with resquing this file.

    GSIDesign,
There are two ways to approach a serious file recovery:
    A) The easy way that costs $27 and may be tested before purchase is a 1 year licence. You can find it here:
    http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/buy_illustrator.html
    B) The hard way is to start here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/enable-content-recovery-mode-illustrator.html
    or here:

Before starting on B), you may check for free in A).

  • Help! Can't open Raw files in lightroom 2!

I have been editing my raw files in Adobe bridge but I just purchased  Lightroom 2 and would like to start to use it but I can't! I go to import my raw files and by they end, it says my files were not the right type or corrupted but I can see them in Bridge. Does anyone know if there is a plugin or something for lightroom 2  that I'm obviously missing to fix this? THANKS so much to however has the answer.

Glad you solved it for yourself. Sometimes hitting it also helps
Might it be that they were sRAW or mRAW, and now you're importing full size RAWs?

  • HELP I can't open a file!!!

I have a video camera and I'm trying to load it on my mac, it doesn't know the file. All of my videos are .tod files what can I do to get them to play on my mac??????

Never heard of a .tod file so I did a Google search & found the following:
Apple iMovie HD & Squared 5 MPEG Streamclip can open .tod files.
CLICKY CLICK--> Convert Mod, Tod files to AVI on Mac
You may wish to do your own Google search. There are hundreds of .tod file converters.
Another thing you can do is cross-post in the QuickTime for Mac OS Forums. That place is full of knowledgeable users that can perhaps offer quite a few solutions and/or work-a-rounds for you.

  • Help!  Can't open Raw files

Hello all, Not exactly an expert here but I am trying to follow the instructions. I have cs2 and trying to open raw files. I have downloaded the update, as instructed, unzipped and placed in the file, again, as instructed. CS2 STILL says 'can not open as is the wrong type of file'. I really want to get the grips with raw but can't even get past the first step.
    Thanks,
    Lucy

Are you sure you have installed the correct version. The CS3 version of ACR does not work with CS2.
This is the link to the last version that was created for CS2
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3587
It should be installed in this folder on a standard windows installation.
    Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2/File Formats
If you already have the right file in the right place, it might mean your camera came is relatively new. Adobe stopped updating ACR for CS2 when CS3 came out. IF your camera came out after that then ACR for CS2 wont open it.
You could use the Adobe DNG converter or get a third party RAW Converter. Some of the newer versions of Elements also support the new version of ACR

  • Help! Can't open psd file

I've been working on a large file for a while. I've been using the same computer with CS2. Now, the same computer, won't open the file I've been working on. The file has never been worked on using a different computer or a different version of Photoshop. I get the message "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop". Any ideas how to fix this?

Also if the file is over 2GB in size it will not open. you will need to open a backup that has not gotten to that size. If the file is over 2GB save as PSB.

  • Help! Can't open any files....

I don't know if it is a coincidence or not but I downloaded 10.4.4 a few days ago and ever since have not been able to open any files. Double-clicking on anything on the desktop is greeted with a resounding.....nothing. Opening e-mails is impossible. Playing more than one track on itunes is impossible. It feels like the Mini has had a stroke, with only Safari being accessible. I have tried running a hardware test with the CD, but that won't open either. Restarts achieve nothing. Any suggestions? Or am I going to have to take it for repair?

Have you tried repairing permissions ?
If not, then go to Applications > Utilities, launch Disk Utility, select your hard drive (Macintosh HD unless you renamed it or boot off an external FireWire HD) and click on Repair Disk Permissions.
And if it still doesn't work, you might want to download and run a small 3rd-party utility such as Yasu which will perform maintenance/troubleshooting tasks such as clearing logs, system and font caches etc.
