Help -- I can't receive (IMAP) email from myself in Mail

I used to get lots of emails to myself... either reminders from iCal or emails I'd BCC'd myself on (to remind myself to file the emails in their proper project folders).
Ever since I've upgraded to Tiger (I think), I'm not getting the emails. They only show up when I check webmail, which is not helpful to me.
About a week ago it seemed I got a ton of them, about a hundred, all in one fell swoop. Of course most of them were obsolete reminders, so I deleted them.
Can anyone help me? I really rely on the iCal reminders.

Betsey, this problem is more stubborn than I hoped. Several suggestions you can follow:
There is no need to re-install the program as it works fine from another user account, but just to make absolutely sure: have you ever changed the location of your Mail program e.g. in a subfolder in Applications?
If that is the case, try to start Mail from the icon directly in the window with all the Applications.
Run the program Disk Utility (in Utilities folder), select your hard drive, go to the tab First Aid, button Repair Permissions. In the log that results from this program, do you see any mentioning of files related to mail? Safe that log file but you can check if this helped anyway.
thing is that my mailbox briefly registers that
they're there -- the number on the Inbox will be 91,
what exactly did you mean with this? You see actually the number 91 flash up for a while then disappears? Somehow the program is detecting 91 unread mails. When you enter through webmail you see so many unread mails too?
What type of mail account is this? .Mac?
Go to Preferences in your Mail program, press Accounts, select your problem account, go to the Tab Advanced. The 2 top most checkboxes should be checked.

    After setting up your account - power off your phone and power it back on and see if you receive any emails.
    For outgoing mail depending on what account your using, check in the mail settings and see if you need to enter a password for your outgoing mail server, - same password as your incoming mail.

    Your iCoud account remains in iCloud even if your device is restored.  (In fact, you can't delete an iCloud account from iCloud, you can only choose to stop using it.)  If the device is restored, or it may no longer be signed into your iCloud account but your account will still exist in iCloud.

  • Can't receive IMAP email via Network Solutions account

    I no longer am able to get new email messages from my Network Solutions IMAP email account to show up in my IOS mail app on both my iPhone or iPad. If I check my mail via the web interface, I see any new mail that comes in. Also, if I use 3rd party mail apps on my iPhone and iPad, I can see new mail.
    Previous to this, I was seeing phantom unread email counts in the app, but no actual unread mail. Now there are no unread emails listed, but also no new mail is showing up, as previously stated.
    Anyone know what's going on, and how to correct this? Network Solutions thus-far has been very unhelpful.

    Yes. The settings are correct. I've deleted and set up the same account several times now on both my devices, just in case that might fix it. No luck. I'm currently using Inky Mail, which seems to have no problems accessing my email. Would be nice to be able to once again use the stock Apple mail app, though.

    I used to have an iphone until i realized it got damaged minorly, i had it replaced by the verizon retailer today but since i used my old email address and remember the password for that apple ID i can't have access to the exact email because of the fact it's been hacked to a japanese website more then a couple years ago.

    And it was your wife's Apple ID that was used to download and install the Yosemite you are using on this computer? If so then I suggest you need to contact Apple to get his straightened out.

    My grandmother just got a macbook, and the apple store transfered her thunderbird to thunderbird for mac instead of migrating it to address book and mail.

    You can export Thunderbird's Address Book as a LDIF file which Address Book can then import.

  • I can no longer receive me emails from my .mac account on my iMac even though I have been able to receive it for the past number of years, I have an iCloud account and it is sending my mail to my phone but not my desktop. What gives...

    I can no longer receive my emails from the icloud to my mac even though it has been doing it fine since I moved to the icloud a number of weeks now. I only get my mail if I log into icloud or I get it on my phone, it is not synching to my iMac. Can someone assist please.

    I tried something similar by adding a new mail account doing the apple id etc but it worked in that it would look for mail but no mail would come even though mail still goes to my phone I was loath to delete my original account just in case the new one did not work as well. So I guess I am a little stuck now.. I hope you can help me to sort it out.

    Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.

    I have 5 email accounts set up on my imac. 3 are mine 2 are my partners. I can no longer send emails from my accounts but my partner still can. They all still receive mail but when I attempt to send mail I get:-
    Cannot Send Message Using Server
    Then i'm asked to select a different server from a list. I have tried all but to no avail.
    I first of all deleted my partners sky.com account because it appeared to me that this was maybe overiding all other accounts and it was no longer needed on imac.
    I then deleted one of my accounts - hotmail, to see if i added it again maybe it would work but now I cant even re add the mail account as everytime i go to mail, preferences account to set it up again the initial screen comes up with my partners details including the sky.com username and when i overwrite these and try to install hotmail acount I get told that logging in failed check user name and password is correct. Which they are.
    All used to work fine but now I have these problems, they appeared to have started when my partner set up an icloud account and is synching with this - could this be the cause?

    First,
    I'd run all availiable software updates. After that, I would try removing all of the accounts from "Mail", and then re-adding them. Be aware that if your folders and such are located on your mac, and not on the mail servers, you may risk lose some information (always have a back-up).
    Sometimes, when you have a number of e-mail account there can be server issues abound. I would go into the server lists and make sure that they are set properly. If you see the "use only this server" box, check it for each of them.
