  • Manually starting Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant and HTTP Listener

    I have installed Oracle 9i on Solaris 8 and it stopped with an "Out of Memory" error during the Starter Database creation. I have fixed the memory problem and have now manually started the Database Configuration Assistant manually and managed to install a new database. Now I am trying to start the Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant and the Apache HTTP Listener, but I cannot find out how to do this so that I can continue on with and complete the installation process from where I left off.
    Do anyone know how to do this? I would appreciate any help that anyone can give.
    Thanks
    Anthony

    Lets start with what product you are installing and why. An Oracle database installation, in and of itself, does not install an HTTP server.
    Of course one might also wonder why you are, just now, installing software so old it is in desupport.

  • How to config or start Intelligent Agents for OEM

    I have install the ORACLE 8.1.7 on redhat 7 successfully. Then I start the "o8ibegin" database instance, start the Oracle Management Server successfully. But, when I start the OEM by using "oemapp console", I could not discover the nodes, it tells me that I maybe do not have Oracle Intelligent Agents. I have chosen to install Oracle Intelligent Agents on install phase, and I have checked that Oracle Intelligent Agents have installed on my system.
    I want to know how to start the Oracle Intelligent Agents service. I remember Oracle Intelligent Agents is a service on Windows NT/2000 version. I alos met such problem on Windows NT/2000, and when I start the Oracle Intelligent Agents service throught service applet on control panel, I resolve the problem.

    try 'lsnrctl dbsnmp_start' to start
    and 'lsnrctl dbsnmp_status' to verify

  • Help! Can't start up from Mac OSX 10.0.4

    I’m hoping someone can help me with a problem. I have an Apple G-4 computer. When I originally purchased it 3-4 years ago I believe it came with OS 9.1 and OSX installed. Both worked fine when I first got it. Through the years I upgraded the OS to 9.2.2 and haven’t used OSX since the first time I purchased the computer.
    Well, I went out an purchased a digital camera which only works with OSX. So I switched the start up disk to OSX and re-started the computer. No OSX, only a gray screen with wording, letters and numbers that are highlighted. Some of the wording is as follows: “panic unable to find driver for this platform”, no debugger configured-dumping debug information”, panic we are hanging here”.
    So I re-started from the CD, switched to OS 9.2 and restarted. I then removed the OSX system from my computer. I then re-installed OSX again and tried to start from it, but the same thing happened. I’m not sure if it has any bearing, but I noticed in the startup disk, Mac OSX 10.0.4 has next to it (Build 4Q12). Not sure what it means or if it’s suppose to be there.
    Sure would appreciate some help here. Thanks much.
    G-4   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

    10.4 will work on your machine as long as you upgrade the firmware first.
    Follow my upgrade tips when installing:
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html
    I would add the person who has the least trouble upgrading to X, goes to it cold turkey. As you are suggesting only to do so for your digital camera, I'm not sure if you really are ready to go to X. I'd get all your software upgraded to X versions before going to X purchased, and then you'll be able to work it out. I've also written this FAQ on migration:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html

  • Pls help: I can't start my mac because I took too much space and now the disk doesn't mount

    I am most certain that this is the case: foolishly, I didnt leave much free space and now the disk doesnt want to mount. I tried the single user mode, I also booted from DVD, they appear but the disk utility shows the disk but I cannot repair the disk, because it is unmounted. I tried the basic commands in single user mode, no effect either. I still cant get over the blue screen with the apple logo and a circle running. I need to free up some spasce. Unforetunately, important  files were not backedup, so I really cant delete the whole disk. I need to delete specific files.
    I came across this in a post:
    /sbin/fsck -yf (optional, but a good idea to run a file system check. If you do this, repeat this command if any problems are found.)
    /sbin/mount -uw / anables to read and write via the single user mode
    /usr/bin/cd /Library/Audio
    /bin/rm -R Apple\ Loops  - rm is remove
    (and any other deletions that you need to do here)
    /sbin/reboot
    The troulbe is, I dont know where are my big files located - so, how do I orientate myself among the folders? Lets say I would delete my itunes libary, which I would later on renew thanks to the back/up, how would I delete them?
    Thank you very much for any advice. I really need to make it work.

    adamfromcernosice wrote:
    | just read that the password doesnt show while being typed - ok, but still it says "invalid argument" once being typed after the sudo rm -r. how is that possible?
    Probably some error in typing. Copy the command line from Terminal and post it here, exactly as it is.
    a way to install applejack or someother helpful software?
    AppleJack only works on the boot disk, and only in single-user mode. IMHO, if there is a space or corruption issue on the disk, the last thing you want to do is to install new software on it.
    DU once I select repair disk reports ''it could not unmount'' the disk.
    If you chose the right disk, you probably have some process using files on the disk or referencing the disk. For instance, if you have Terminal open and present working directory is on the disk, DU will refuse to unmount it. Make sure you've quit all other apps before using DU. If it still refuses to unmount, you can force it in Terminal
    $ diskutil unmountDisk force
    and drag the disk from Finder to the Terminal window (there's a blank space after force).
    could I somehow use time machine just for my original disk?
    I don't know about Time Machine. I suspect you can't use it under your circumstances, but I really don't know.
    how to force through adn delete some folders? I still believe that it should solve the problem, shouldnt it?
    Not all problems have convenient solutions. If the file system is corrupt (which could well happen when running out of space, let alone the fact that you couldn't boot from the disk and thus the journal couldn't be replayed), then deleting files may not work or may make matters worse. We still don't know why you couldn't boot from the internal disk. It may be because there isn't enough space to create the necessary temp and ancillary files—or it may be because the file system was badly corrupted when the operating system ran out of space.
    If you want to stick with it, post here the rm command, as I wrote above. It may or may not work, it may or may not delete the files you want to delete, which may or may not fix the problem. There's no guarantee. It you want to do it right, the only way is to back up everything you can and re-format the internal drive.

  • Please Help me can't start svrmgrl

    when i try the command

    Appreciate any help.
    I specified in my PATH :$ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/mesg
    Thanks for your time

    Do the following,
    This workaround is for Redhat 7.0 and oracle 8.1.6
    Workaround
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    (for RedHat 7.0) Install the following packages: U can install the packages using rpm command mount the cdrom redhat 7.0 type the following command
    rpm -i compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.9.i386.rpm this is the filename in the cdrom for the following first package. For second package you should follow the same step above.
    compat-egcs-6.2-1.1.2.9
    compat-glibc-6.2-2.1.3.2
    and modify all occurrences of CC and LINK definitions in all env_*.mk
    makefiles in the $ORACLE_HOME software tree from either $(LDCCOM) or
    gcc to i386-glibc21-linux-gcc.
    To better illustrate the needed changes, the lines such as
    CC=cc
    LINK=$(LDCCOM)
    LINK=$(PURECMDS) gcc $(LDFLAGS) $(COMPOBJS)
    will become
    CC=i386-glibc21-linux-gcc
    LINK=i386-glibc21-linux-gcc
    LINK=$(PURECMDS) i386-glibc21-linux-gcc $(LDFLAGS) $(COMPOBJS)
    Be sure there will be multiple accurances of the above mentioned expressions check twice. That is CC= may accour twice in the file. You have to apply change for both.
    You will also need to modify the genclntsh shell script and substitute
    LD="ld -shared -L${ORACLE_HOME}/lib"
    LD_RUNTIME="-R${ORACLE_HOME}/lib"
    LD_OPT="-h ${CLNT_LIB}"
    with
    LD="i386-glibc21-linux-gcc -shared -L${ORACLE_HOME}/lib"
    LD_RUNTIME="-Wl,-R${ORACLE_HOME}/lib"
    LD_OPT="-Wl,-h${CLNT_LIB}"
    Finally, rebuild libclntsh.so by running 'genclntsh' and relink oracle,
    svrmgrl etc. using the usual relink commands. You'll get warnings in
    the relink process but they can be ignored. While running the genclntsh you will get unrecognized command something like that.Ignore those errors. If you get exit code 1 then check the modifications you have done and run it again. If it is successfull it wont give exit code 0.
    This has been tested on env_rdbms.mk, env_sqlplus.mk, env_network.mk
    but should be working on the other makefiles as well.
    All the best,it will work out. Thanks for those who made this possible.
    Hari
  • Oracle Intelligent Agent does not started on RH9
    Hi Sir
    I have installed Red Hat 9 and Oracle 9i Release 2 ....But When I would like to start Intelligent Agent ,I encounter with
    error => ( error in loading shared libraries : libvppdc.so No such file or directory) ..
    Anyway I am sure that my environment setting like LD_LIBRARY_PATH is correct and this .so file is existed in this path
    (Again same of your condition).
    It will be my pleasure to help me at earliest convenience.
    Regards
    Shervin
    Open up a console and login as oracle user. Execute these lines:
    $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/network/lib
    $ make -f ins_net_client.mk install
    Then edit the $ORACLE_HOME/ctx/lib/ins_ctx.mk file so that lines 13-14 change from:
    ctxhx: $(CTXHXOBJ)
    $(LINK) $(CTXHXOBJ) $(INSO_LINK)
    to
    ctxhx: $(CTXHXOBJ)
    $(LINK) -ldl $(CTXHXOBJ) $(INSO_LINK)
    Then do
    $ make -f $ORACLE_HOME/ctx/lib/ins_ctx.mk install
    Now you should be able to start your agents with
    $agentctl start
  • Starting ssh-agent on login
    ssh-agent is a blessing for convenient yet secure remote access, but the standard tool to start it up on login is in my opinion overly complicated. Keychain is a script in more than 1500 lines of code for doing essentially what I do in 8 lines. It does of course have tons more features, but I don't see any reason for all of that. Here's my /etc/profile.d/ssh-agent.sh, I hope somebody finds it useful:
    # If the directory ~/.ssh/agent exists, ssh-agent is started automagically.
    # The script first checks whether $HOSTNAME-sh already contains information
    # about a running ssh-agent process, in which case nothing further is done.
    # When necessary, which should only be once per reboot, ssh-agent is started
    # and the two important variables are defined in $HOSTNAME-sh for use by
    # future login sessions.
    # Tip: Put '. /etc/profile' in your ~/.xinitrc and ~/.xsession
    # This is a good idea not only because of this script.
    if [ -d $HOME/.ssh/agent ]; then
    [ -f $HOME/.ssh/agent/$HOSTNAME-sh ] && . $HOME/.ssh/agent/$HOSTNAME-sh
    if ! [ -S "$SSH_AUTH_SOCK" ]; then
    eval `/usr/bin/ssh-agent` > /dev/null
    echo "export SSH_AUTH_SOCK=$SSH_AUTH_SOCK" > $HOME/.ssh/agent/$HOSTNAME-sh
    echo "export SSH_AGENT_PID=$SSH_AGENT_PID" >> $HOME/.ssh/agent/$HOSTNAME-sh
    After countless hours, I can get the command ./lsnrctl dbsnmp_start to start the Intelligent Agent. However, if I execute the command ./dbsnmp & the Intelligent Agent will start and I can then use dbsnmp_status and dbsnmp_stop as normal. I have tried relinking, reinstalling, deleting log and config files to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem?
