HELP! I cant flash my bios, :censored:....

When I got to flash my bios I enter the correct file names in the command prompt, then when i get the message if i want to save my current bios i say no, and then it says "Source File Not Found!" what does this mean and what am i doing wrong? thanks.

You may just want to get it downloaded again. Likely it's just corrupted is all.
Oh and if someone doesn't answer it is likely as not due to the fact they don't know the answer.

  • Help I cant flash bios on PT880

Just got my new mobo up and trying to flash the bios but cant, I type in the AMI flash program from dos and all I get is a bunch of  mumbo jumbo like this
    COMMAND>
         ?:HELP
        _B Disable boot programming
    (you get the idea? )
    I went to msi website
    http://www.msicomputer.com/support/BIOS_AMI.asp
but when I type C: as instructed all I get is invalid drive peramerators
this sucks I am sitting at the dos screen now booted from a start up disk (win ME)

That method is for flashing from a c: drive.
    Try this method:
    Go to
    http://www.bootdisk.com/
and get a Win98 OEM boot disk. Follow the instructions to prepare a bootable floppy disk.
Copy your flash program and bios image to a second disk.
Boot from the Win98 floppy. This will create a ram drive c:
Change to that drive by typing
    C:
Then put in your bios floppy and copy all the files to the c drive:
    copy a:*.*
    Then flash by typing
    flashprog biosname.ver
where flahsprog is the name of the exe file contained in the package from the MSI web site and biosname.ver is the bios file you are flashing, which is also contained in the package from the MSI web site.

  • I flashed the BIOS on my dv4 2045dx with the F17 BIOS, NOW Black screen, PLEASE HELP

I flashed the BIOS on my dv4 2045dx with the F17 BIOS, NOW Black screen. Now even when pressing the windows  and the B key when powering, the screen stay black. Lights, fan, HD, USB drive with HP_TOOLS partition and bios backup flashes goes on for some time with some beeping every 15 sec.
I try to plug it on to a external monitor without luck.
What's next? Can I reload a BIOS from a CD? Anyone have an idea?
    Thanks

    Hello KenyaKitten
I understand after flashing your bios the PC will not boot.  I will do all I can to help with this issue.
First thing let’s do a hard reset, remove all devices from the PC including battery and power cable. Once all is removed press and hold power button for 15-20 seconds. Once that is done insert only battery and charging cable.  Try to boot now, if getting same response move to next line below.
Next, I want you to try is to boot into the bios menu. Turn the PC off and as you turn it on tap the F10 key repeatedly. Hopefully this boots you into the bios menu. Screen will look a little bluish grey and have setup utility across the top.
Also if the PC starts beeping at you while you’re tapping you can stop. Now if you reach that screen you may get a box that say save changes and exit choose no. (Note your mouse doesn't work on this screen so you would need to use the arrow keys)
After that press F9 another box will up come about reset defaults, accept that. Then press F10 to save and exit. The notebook will attempt to boot.
Also please inform me if you notice the number lock or caps lock keys blinking off and on. Also please let me know if the PC beeps at you while tapping F10 regardless if the bios comes up or not.
Please respond at your earliest convenience when you get further information.
    Thank you.

Use that way to bypass the error and flash to desired BIOS ==> http://www.msicomputer.com/support/BIOS_AMI_Recovery.asp
    * Use regular Floppy drive {Not USB}
    * Use PS2 Keyboard
Next time be more carefull and don't flash the BIOS for no reason. Read here ==> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=103441.0

  • Need help flashing my BIOS

I just tried to flash the BIOS on my MSI Z87-G43 mb but I was unsuccessful.  I was trying to use the M-Flash capability in the BIOS but when I tried to save my current BIOS to the USB flash drive I got the message that no USB key was found and to please plug in a USB key and try again.  I decided to skip saving the current BIOS and just flash the new BIOS and the same message appeared.  I tried the USB socket on the front of my case, the USB 2.0 socket on the MB I/O panel and the USB 3.0 socket on the MB I/O panel. None of them worked.
The USB flash drive is just a generic 1 GB flash drive.  Prior to the attempts, I used the option to "Load Optimized Defaults" or whatever it is called.  Within the BIOS, I used the "Board Explorer" option and I was able to "see" my USB flash drive on the Board Explorer.
What is the trick to getting the MB to see my USB flash drive during M-Flash?

  • Z68A-GD80(G3) Can no longer read external hd dock after flashing beta bios

I flashed E7672IMS.J31 Beta Bios because I was on a very old bios that was not compatible with my GTX 970 card I just bought.  Flashing the bios fixed my 970 compatibility but in the process made it so my 2 external hd docks no longer worked (at this time on windows 7).  self powered usb harddrives still worked though.  At this time my sata mode was IDE which I thought might have had to do with it since it doesnt have hotswap. I assumed it was an issue with some drivers I installed after flashing the beta bios and I was due for upgrading/reformatting anyways so I enabled AHCI and hot swap then did a clean install of windows 8.1.  The external hard drives still don't read!!   I've used multiple different hard drives and different usb ports including usb 2.0.  The docks are usb 3.0 and I use them daily to edit photos from my work.  Any ideas of things I could try?
    My pc:
    intel 2500k
    16gb Corsair vengeance ram
    MSI 970 GTX GPU
    Corsair 750w power supply
    Z68A-GD80(G3) motherboard
    E7672IMS.J31 Beta Bios

Could the issue be that I didn't download the Intel Management Driver after installing the beta bios I flashed?  Maybe I could try that first, which one from this list do I use with my pc setup?
    thanks for the help!

  • How do I flash a BIOS upgrade.

    A have a MS-7360 P35 Neo motherboards.
    The BIOS is AMIBIOS A7360IMS V1.1 052107
Over time, I have had several minor faults, advising that they may be the result of
some mismatch between BIOS and hardware.
So, having done this with other machines earlier, I tried to do it with this one.
But,I cannot find out how to !!
The MSI webside informs that versions 20 and 21 are available, but they can only be instaled using "Liveupdate".
The "Click here to read the instruction" button leads to a Error 404 File Not Found message.
So, I tried to download and install "Liveupdate". The program freezes everytime.
I entered the MSI forum. There is a warning against using "Liveupdate" to flash the BIOS.
Instead a "MSI Forum HQ USB flashing tool" is offered.
I tried that tool, and was warned by my computer that the program was blocked because it tried to install a Trojan.
And even if it had worked, I could probably not have used it. The thing is: I cannot find the apropriate BIOS file itself.
It is probably hidden somewhere in the folders made by "Liveupdate", but which file is it?
I tried www.ami.com. It identidied my BIOS, but there was nowhere to find an upgrade.
So, can anyone help me here ?

And now another one, there must have been quite a few of those P35 Neos sold.
To get to the point though you need BIOS for G33 MB which is the same BIOS for your version of the P35.
    BIOS download is here:
    http://www.msi.com/product/mb/G33-Neo.html#/?div=BIOS
            >> Use the MSI HQ Forum USB flasher <<
I know this for fact as I had the same MB a few years ago, you are the 3rd or 4rth this week with question and at least you have been lucky enough not to flash the wrong BIOS like some of the others. Don't even use the Live Update to flash the BIOS else you can end up with a dead MB, use the forum tool.

  • LENOVO G50-30 stuck at lenovo logo and cant even enter bios

    Hello
I yust got my lenovo G50-30 and wanted to install win 7 on it. after the first BsoD I went to bios and changed the AHCI to legacy mode. Got the same BsoD.  After that I changed the Os mode from win 8 to win 7 ... loaded the factory default settings and putted from AHCI to legacy mode again.
After that the laptop turns on, but it stucks at lenovo logo. I cant access the bios anymore to make any other changes. If I insert a win7 instalation disc, it start to spin but with no sucess. also cant acess the boot options anymore.
    Any help greatly apreciated

I suggest removing battery and AC, holding the power button for more than 15 seconds to reset the BIOS back to default settings then see if the issue remains.
Make sure to post the results.
    Good luck.

  • What to do with bricked motherboard? MSI P67A-G45 AFTER FLASHING LAST BIOS

I flashed MSI P67A-G45 by the last BIOS for IB CPU. The flashing goes twice with intermediate reset. Before I flashed P67A-C43 by the same version from MSI, and all was Ok.
I flashed new BIOS from version 1I under DOS mode. There was a problem with pen drive and I used hard disk without USB pen drive. That was my error. The exe file started and flashed BIOS  normally and then after reset started flashing Intel ME firmware. I thought all is going ok and the image is taken from HDD. But after the process finished and motherboard reset, it didn't start at all. The fan starts and stops, LED blinks and motherboard behaves the same way even without CPU. What can I do? Is there any way, suppose, using a EEPROM writer? I have one and I can take the BIOS chip off and flash by old version of BIOS. What can You advise? Maybe the second flash process writes another chip - can You tell me about it. Please advise how to manage this problem.
I received no help from support. I'm not a novice - I work in repair center and have soldering station etc. Can You explain me anything about second flashing process? I need only information and I will be able to manage th :lol_anim:is problem.

  • Questions about flashing the bios

Hi everyone. I have a few questions about the process involved in a bios update.
First, I should tell you I have a Lenovo G470 that sometimes has problems booting.
The problem is I turn on the laptop and after 2-3 seconds it shuts down. I see the logo, and nothing else. After that I can spend hours trying to turn it on again, and keeps failing. After some time, I turn it on and use it without problems.
Before these problems, I had experienced similar troubles, but I could fix it (in my way) and I explained it in this post: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/Lenovo-g470-shutdown-problems-in-intervals-of-...
Ok, In that post a reply says that a possible solution could be a Bios update. So, I've been thinking to flash the bios to solve my actual problem, but I would like to ask you some questions:
    1. Updating the bios could be a solution for this case?
    2. How long does it take to update a lenovo G470 bios? (I ask this because I read that if a problem occurs in the middle the damage can be serious, and in the past I had these random shutdowns, so I'm a bit afraid)
    3. How am I sure if my bios is or not updated? (there's a way to check this from windows?)
    4. Finally, if you could give me a link to download the correct bios update I'll thank you.
I think that's all. I apologize for my basic english and hope you could give me some clues on this, because, as you see, I'm a total newbie.
    Thanks!

    hi alemaneitor,
    Regarding your questions:
    1. Yes, flashing the BIOS may help solve your problem as it will re-write the configurations on the CMOS. Take note though of the changelogs or README (repair changes) as the latest BIOS updates fixes critical issues on the hardware.
I've also seen some units that act the same as yours and doing a gpu reflow most of the time fixes the issue - see this thread in reference.
    2. In flashing the BIOS outside of Windows, it takes less than a minute. If you need to run the BIOS flash utility inside Windows, it may take 1-2mins.
    3. If there's a new BIOS that fixes critical issues, it's most of the time uploaded on the lenovo website (in some cases, BIOS updates are not available to the public and can only be used by service technicians)
    4. The latest BIOS update for the Lenovo G470 is the one below that fixes an issue on units that can not enter BIOS after restart under compatible HDD mode (see README.TXT)
    BIOS Update for 32bit Windows
    40cn33ww_32.exe
    3.28MB
    BIOS Update for 64bit Windows
    40cn33ww_64.exe
    3.67MB
